Behind every great man is an even greater woman and inside every modern day Progressive woman is a confused maladjusted teenager running out of ways to rebel against the patriarchy as most have already dyed their hair bright unnatural colors and have facial piercings.
The election of the chauvanistic Donald Trump over the the ultimate feminist candidate Hillary Clinton induced a madness in these modern womyn. So they came together, mustering their collective intellect to devise plans to take down the ultimate patriarchal symbol… by making vagina hats and marching, dressing up in vagina costumes and marching, and now for the ultimate tantrum, they go on strike! Take that childcare and service industries!
The major problem with today’s women’s strike is that they aren’t inconveniencing men, they are inconveniencing their fellow women. As mothers are the main providers of childcare, not men, and with schools and other childcare facilities closed, it is women who are forced to stay home and care for the kiddos, not the men. Their plan, as with all their other poorly thought out plans, denies reality.
While women dominate the childcare industry and make a slight majority in the service and hospitality/leisure industry, men are busy keeping civilization afloat. Which leads me to the thought experiment, imagine A Day Without A Man. Imagine a day in which all men went on strike. Imagine a day without agriculture, mining, transportation, utilities, and construction. Civilization would come to a halt.
So keep that in mind, you brave, strong ladies. As you drive to your protest (72% of American auto manufacturing is done by men), gas up on your way (80% of oil extraction is done by men, and 80% of petroleum refining is as well), take a plane to get there (78% of aircraft and parts manufacturing is done by men, while 63% of all air transportation jobs are performed by men), take the train (>99% of rail manufacturing is performed by men and 90% of all rail transportation workers are men) or walk (91% of all concrete and asphalt manufacture is done by men), there were probably men involved in getting you there. I won’t even go too far into the rest of your little holiday, though I am sure you’ll eat (76% of crop production is by men, as is 73% of animal production and >99% of commercial fishing), you’ll go to the bathroom in one of those port-a-johns (70% of plastics production is done by men, and 85% of sewage treatment workers are men) and you’ll call someone on your iPhone to virtue signal (70% of electronics manufacturing is done by men).*
And if you decide not to march but would rather take the day off and treat yourself to that cool new hairstyle in neon pink or get a mani-pedi, go for it! Just pray to God that the 92% of hairstylists that are women or the 75% of nail salon employees that are also female didn’t have the same idea as you today.*

That is doubleplusungood hate speech! You have clearly been brainwashed by The Patriarchy.
Thank you for that compliment.
Well, I’m sure you had good material to work with.
It’s shocking to me that all the women engineers that I work with are still working today. They don’t seem to understand that they are an abused minority in this industry.
Every single female enigeer I work with are Asian. I did work with a couple white women before but they were Russian immigrants. Likewise were the demographics in college
Which one?
Oooooh! Let me pick!
What about Laverne snd Shirley? They made beer.
If I didn’t actually know you banjos, I would say this was a fake article, written by a dude to discredit feminism. But since I know you, my only conclusion is you’re an Uncle Tom and a disgrace to womyn everywhere.
She disconnected her downstairs from the vag-hive-mind. It’s tough to keep up with all of the potential thought-crimes when you’re not getting the vag-memos.
So, uh… How’s your downstairs connected?
It’s not. I get a shot for that once a quarter.
I thought the treatment for chlamydia was oral antibiotics.
You’d know better than I would 😉
Vag-memos are notoriously sticky and hard to get out of the printer port.
Whole new meaning to paper jam, right there.
You just got to stick your hand in there and wiggle it around a bit.
Maybe give it a smack or two?
Nah, there’s this little button on the printer. Push that a few times, and the memo will come right on out.
Sometimes, if conditions are right, after a glass of wine or two, you can stick your finger in the back and help things along.
Bobarian knows what’s up–except for the part about the wine.
Have to make sure you have enough toner though.
What the fuck do you do when it still blinks nothing but “PC LOAD LETTER”?
They have pills for that Pan.
There’a many women in this world who do their jobs quietly and with grace whether it be in a male dominated industry like manufacturing or stay-at-home mothers, unfortunately, the most useless and obnoxious ones are the ones perpetually demanding to have their asses kissed.
That sounds hot.
*motions to SP to have air strike called in over here*
“Ready for 9-Line.”
Oh no, no MEDEVAC for him!
I knew an acquaintance who mother worked in high finance during the late 70’s and all of the 80’s. That lady does not tolerate women who bitch and complain about the patriarchy.
Great point. I was going to note that your stats, while completely accurate, may underestimate the discrepancy. I don’t have any data to prove it, but I suspect there’s an inverse correlation between a woman’s presence in one of the fields you mention and their likelihood of participating in the “Day Without Women”. But, then, what in the heavens is the world going to come to if we lose the services of the country’s Deputy Assistant Deans of Student Life or Program Specialists of Corporate Diversity Initiatives?
Read those numbers in the article again. They reinforce the notion that men are in control of too much and have limited the workplace opportunities of women worldwide!
Just kidding.
She’s not an Uncle Tom; she’s an Aunt Jemima.
That riot grrrl really did a number on the bell of that baritone. Those are not cheap instruments. Plus it’s really going to fick the tone up. Shame.
You didn’t built that. – Shitlord #44
Sorry, this was not in reply to you.
No problem. You’re bacon.
That…that..does sort of buy him grace, doesn’t it?
Grace for him, grease for us.
The tone was too masculine.
I can assure you she’ll never get to dot the I handling an instrument like that.
Nice euphemism.
I thought it was a euphonium?
“inside every modern day Progressive woman is a confused maladjusted teenager running out of ways to rebel against the patriarchy”
*Stands in silent awe and admiration at the wordsmithing ability of Banjos*
Yes, I am totally stealing that phrase.
I too want to use this line today.
I may just throw it up as a derpbook post just to generate some shit.
well, share what comes back.
Probably not much. Most of the really rabid feminists have already blocked me, and the ones that are left usually won’t take the bait anymore.
yea, same.
It’s almost as if focusing solely on gender and racial identity politics for everything leads to absurdity.
It’s almost as if promoting a society-wide fixation on race and gender actually stirs up enmity between demographics and makes things worse.

“…. many men reported disappointment when discovering that “Day Without a Woman” does not actually mean their wife is going to leave them alone with beer, college-sports, and porn”
It doesn’t?! Aw, shit snacks!!
/cancels PTO for opening day of March Madness…
I’m thinking about a Month without Men since the disparity between men and women means we need a corresponding larger time period to appreciate the absence. March would be fine.
Local stats for the SP/OMWC household:
Computer programming: 100% female
Writing: 50% male, 50% female
Pizza making: 67% male, 33% female
Leaving dirty laundry on the floor: 100% male
Making toilet jokes: 100% male
Rolling eyes: 100% female
Does your better half have the gift of the evil eye™? I’ve found that to be terrifying at times.
No, it’s either an eye-roll or full escalation to gutting.
I think saying “female” is now disallowed. (But don’t ask me why. I have no idea.)
I think because it assumes your biological gender is also your actual gender, rather than what you feel you are, or some such bullshit.
Given the over 99.97% accuracy rate of that presumption, there is no reason to discard it.
Logic’s got nuthin’ to do with it.
What’s the confidence interval though?
Unpenised it is then.
I can borrow one whenever I want to, so not strictly accurate.
Someone yesterday said it’s not “normal” to use that term for humans because it is only used to describe animals.
I’ll only listen to them if they survive the Box of Pain.
Would that it were a college admission requirement… Maybe I need to start a school.
That someone was me, and I stand by it. I wasn’t saying it’s a big deal, just that the noun form is often used to be intentionally derogatory. One or two dictionaries agree with me, and don’t give me any grief about those not being real dictionaries.
The tweet and countertweet that were the subjects of yesterday’s thread were both idiotic regardless.
that the noun form is often used to be intentionally derogatory.
I don’t use it that way, so I’m going to keep using it.
With the change in the meaning of the word “woman”, we need a term to refer accurately to those who are biologically and genetically, well, female.
You’re in medicine. It doesn’t have that connotation clinically.
I think the original tweet actually used “female” because they didn’t have their SJW guidebook handy and wanted to use something other than “women”.
Actually the claim was that “The noun is derogatory“; as in ‘inherently’.
if it were only “some people sometimes use it that way”, i don’t think there would have been anything to debate.
*no interest in rehashing either.
Wait, Swiss is female?
He said eyerolling, not *narrowed gaze*
That didn’t answer the question!
Do you feel like a female, or not?
Based on the (admittedly limited) sample of Swiss womanhood I’ve been exposed to, I don’t see how he could possibly not.
*fierce scowl*
I’m a man, baby!
I meant in the sense of “Yup, I feel like a woman. Or two. Better make it two.”
Oddly enough, all of the women who actually contribute financially to a sub-upper middle class household are at work today. As are their men. This protest seems to be centered around rich women or women who are apart of the media, higher ed, and grievance mongering.
Why, it’s almost as if financial standing is more relevant than hereditary “privilege”… Nah, fuck white cis men shitlords imo
Well the productive need to eat, so they go to work.
The well-to-do need to feel like they’re contributing, so they make noise.
I have not noticed any diminution in our workforce, which is probably 2/3 chicks.
It was joked about in the office, and the woman in the conversation rejected it on the grounds of not liking the shopping moratorium.
That sounds like a Kimmel monologue joke.
100% true, the conversation ended with an agreement that the people protesting had no idea what they were even protesting about. Then everyne wandered away.
Same here. I’m about to go to a meeting that’s headed by a
chickwoman.Ask her where the sammiches are.
Yup. The department I work in is managed by a woman and 9 of 13 of the people in it are women, and they’re all here today.
Yes, but isn’t your workplace you, 2 bouncers, a DJ, and 9 strippers?
Not American, but most of the women I know would never skip work for it…because it’s this thing called ‘desertion’.
Dang….the Canadian Army is hardcore!
I’m being slightly dramatic (also I personally consider it desertion to abandon your duties because *insert political cause here*, but apparently I’m “weird”).
But yeah, have fun with summary trial, docked pay and possible detention.
Wait, they don’t shoot deserters anymore?
Can’t afford the bullets.
(I’ve trained with the Canadian Army before)
It’s not really desertion, at least according to the CSD, it’s absence without leave, then desertion based off of varying circumstances. Punishment is life in prison, haven’t executed anyone for a military offense since the Second World War (I’m personally in favour of bringing it back).
Yeah, AWOL first, Desertion later.
Is this another word for serving dessert?
Dessert me, PLEASE!
The process whereby otherwise arable land becomes a desert?
Me: You know that women aren’t supposed to work today. It’s a feminist protest against the patriarchy.
Mrs. Trshmnstr: *rolls eyes* Ugh, again? Aren’t they still tired from the last time they rolled off the couch to protest?
Sounds like you were smart to wife her up.
Sort of on topic. The tennis world has caught the “unequal pay” bug. Nina Pantic (Panic would be more apt), in the latest issue of Tennis magazine (sorry, no link), quotes one tournament CEO: “If I was a lady player, I’d go down every night on my knees and thank God that Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal were born because they have carried this sport.” Also, Novak Djokovic: “[ATP players] should fight for more [money, since they] have more spectators.”
The CEO’s comments could have been more tactful, but he and Djokovic are correct. Men’s tennis draws larger audiences.
Serena Williams is then quoted: “It would be shocking to say my son deserves more than my daughter. I think it’s just irrelevant and unfair to say.” Does she think it’s shocking that she gets more than other women on the tour? Does she think it’s shocking that she makes more than say a nurse, or a teacher, professions that she would undoubtedly praise over her own? What about short men? They have no chance of making millions in the NBA, or even as pro tennis players. What about more intelligent people? Should they earn the same as someone who’s not even capable of doing the same jobs, let alone doing them as well?
I’ll take Serena’s comments seriously when she donates everything she earns until her net (no pun intended) is equal to the median global income.
If I was a lady player, I’d go down every night on my knees
Yeah, that’s not something any male should say.
Maybe he was writing a novel while his inner god capered demonically.
Not unless he want’s to get hit with a sexual harassment suit.
Apparently, he resigned.
He learned nothing from Trump. Apologies and resignations only lead to more screeching for more blood. Never apologize, never back down.
Ah, the good old labor theory of value. I guess that shit will never die.
One of my faves is classical orchestras – every time they strike, their justification is how many hours they had to practice when they were a kid. But, I forgive musicians for not understanding economics, if they play a good tune.
This actually happens?

that was awesome.

Oh, my.
That’s gonna leave a mark.
It needed a mic drop at the end.
I think the incredulous sneer was better.
I will tear your head off eyes, right there.
If there is one field where all this shit is ridiculous, it’s sports.
How bout we get rid of male and female tennis they all play together and the winier gets the $$$
Serena Williams would not bean any man in the top 100 ATP. Maybe not in the top 250.
beat goddamnit
their complaint is that the wiener already gets the $$$
No, no, he meant whinier. The more you whine, the more you get paid. Feminist utopia.
The most striking difference to me is in skiing womens
mens
Now, I can’t do what those women can do.
If men’s and women’s sports were not segregated, there would be no women’s sports.
Actually, Williams would probably beat quite a few.
Karsten Braasch would like a word with you.
Serena Williams is a practicing Jehovah’s Witness.
You should probably not worry about completely ignoring everything such a person has to say.
Someone should threat to shove a fucking ball down her fucking throat.
One year at Wimbledon (before the prize money became equal), Tim Henman suggested that the women should really be fighting to get more prize money at the events below the Slams, where the prize disparity is much greater. He was right of course, but pilloried for not agreeing with The Narrative.
The blurb for this:
certainly had me headed in one direction . . . .
I blame SugarFree.
She sounds hot.
Nice, Banjos. snarky and informative.
Men are also much more likely to die on the job, and those stats you bring back that up. Industrial accidents are painful. I was hit on the head by a chair at the ski resort I worked at. a lovely concussion.
Ski brawl?
No, I wish. It had snowed a bunch and we needed to clear a lot from the bottom of the lift. It was the oldest chair at sugarbush at the time, but it was replaced recently I believe. Fixed chair, very heavy. I was shoveling under the path of the chairs as they came down the hill, and had the timing almost down. shovel, shovel, move/duck. I stood up and hit the bottom front corner of the chair.
Of course, it didn’t help that I said it was Friday when the doc asked. It was my Friday, but it was really Wednesday.

I think the real problem was when you told him you were Batman.
That explains so much. I was hit be a car when I was a youngling. *watches dust motes swirling in light streaming through window*

Bacon comes in all forms. My shape in reality is not…flat. *belly laughs*
Morton’s Law: 90% of male assault victims deserved it. Oh, wait, I guess that doesn’t apply here.
Someone’s salty.
heh
*narrows gaze*
Fishing, Logging, and Pilots have the highest work related mortality. Maybe the women who protest should get those jobs.
I always love to point out to the copsuckers (“They put their lives on the line for us!”) that even sanitation workers have a significantly higher mortality rate than cops, but we wouldn’t mindlessly allow the garbageman to violate our rights just because he has a risky job.
My wife and I are a team – always have been. I make the money and she spends it! *badoom-tish*
Seriously she handles so much of the shit that I don’t want to deal with, and manages to look good doing it. And anyone who can put up with someone of my (lack of) personality, while raising a special needs kid, cooking, and being a lawyer must deserve some sort of medal. She also mixes a mean gin & tonic.
Whoa whoa whoa – lawyer? That oughta automatically disqualify anyone for a medal.
Check out the cis-layman privilege on Chip over there.
Good article. But I’m pretty sure that guy with his junk in the bag didn’t harvest my food with his 10-hp lawnmower.
He’s an organic farmer. He also makes artisanal mayo.
You want his artisanal mayo on your BLT?
Awful creepy euphemism, right there.
I was thinly veiled, much like the mayo.
Oh, just wait till he “Beez” his “L” on your “Teez”!
Yeah, that was my contribution. And really, the article needed a bit of spice. Showing some dude in the cab of a Case Quadtrac 600 wasn’t gonna get as many looks.
Yeah, that was my contribution.
Did you pick it out of your collection of pics of barely dressed dudes using farm equipment?
Jungbauernkalendar
Side Story: In college I was once asked to join a “man’s group” as a counterpoint to a woman’s group, one that my GF belonged to. With much dread in my heart I went, thinking we would hang out, drink some beer, and just bullshit about stuff.
But the founding member was married to a rabid feminist – one who thought I was evil every time I gave a woman a compliment. He stands up (to address all two of us) and says: “Man has never done anything good – ever.”
I reply: “What about the house we are sitting in right now? Someone had to build it. And the car that let me drive here. And the road I drove on.”
Needless to say I didn’t go to any more meetings.
What would he done if you’d kept going and reminding him that he was full of shit?
It would have turned into a Monty Python bit?
That reminded me of “What have the Romans ever done for us” from Life of Brian.
Banjos, you’re like the woman version of Ryan Gosling in The Believer.
Sort of OT:
In senior seminar class, my Economics professor asked why there aren’t enough women being represented in the STEM fields and finance? One of the girls in class answered that it’s because, America is a racist and sexist society. I kid you the fuck not. So anyway, another girl answered and said that it’s because women feel as though they aren’t welcomed in those fields. After all of this, a girl (who leans politically right) said that it’s perhaps because women aren’t majoring in those subjects or tend to leave the job force because they decide to raise children.
Holy shit. The progressive feminists of the class lost their shit at that statement and accused her of perpetuating the patriarchy and having self hatred. The right leaning girl to her credit didn’t give a fuck about their accusations and fought their bullshit assertions. The best part about all of this was that other people actually took the right leaning girl’s side and also argued back at the progressive feminist’s bullshit assertions.
After everything settled down, the feminists got angry at the Professor for not shutting down the right leaning girl and others because they felt as though, the classroom fostered an environment sexism and misogyny and it made them feel uncomfortable and unsafe.
I could not make this shit up, even if I tried.
I’m going to quote myself, a response I wrote earlier today to an article about a policy to try to push even more women into STEM.
That’s exactly what my Econ professor response was to the feminists. The issue was that they are used to being in an echo chamber and aren’t used to having their bullshit beliefs challenged. They wanted the Professor to do their dirty work because they didn’t have the guts to do it themselves nor have any sort of rebuttal.
They really fall apart when their argument is challenged with stats. they want it to stay in the name calling feelz arena. they can always win there.
What was so amazing though was that even when they resorted to name calling, it made those who opposed them much more bolder. They got wrecked so bad that they stayed quiet for the rest of the class. it gave me hope that perhaps not everyone believes in this bullshit SJW narrative.
there’s hope!
FTFY.
Alternatively:
claim is probably the best fit.
Like a pigeon playing chess. It knocks over all the pieces, shits on the board, then struts around as if it has won.
Hey man, you can quote yourself all you want here. We don’t judge.
why there aren’t enough women being represented in the STEM fields and finance
Umm, what’s the right number?
So having offspring is self hatred? If the feminists had their way, this would be last generation of human beings on earth?
More. The answer is always and forever “more”.
Women are underrepresented in _____: This needs to be fixed to compensate for institutional sexism.
Women are overrepresented in _____ (such as college): *Crickets*
Women are underrepresented in prison.
Warty can help: he can open a Women-Only dungeon.
Women are underrepresented in workplace deaths. We need more women to be run over, burned alive, and eviscerated by machinery at work. Equality now!
Women are underrepresented in suicides. In the name of equality, we need to drive more women to blow their brains out and hang themselves.
Women are underrepresented in murders. We must slaughter more females to correct this appalling disparity!
Women are underrepresented among the homeless. Evict women from their homes to bring about true equality!
“why there aren’t enough women being represented in the STEM fields and finance? ”
I thought Barbie had the simplest answer; “Math is hard”.
There is also the somewhat true, if somewhat sexist answer. Like it or not, men are expected to be providers in our society and women have the option of doing so.
Both fields require highly systematized knowledge that, from a base rate comparison to males, genetically female brains are not wired to process or be stimulated by. Therefore they do not gravitate toward those professions.
I think a lot of it comes down to differences in the communication styles of men and women.
A ton of studies show that women use more words and communicate on a more emotional level. Even most feminists would not dispute this proposition. It’s not a bad thing; it actually works as an advantage in fields that require interpreting the emotions of others such as social work, counseling/therapy, human resources, and childcare. Sure enough, women dominate these fields.
By contrast, men’s communication is brief and unemotional but very substantive. Men’s language deals in cold, hard facts – exactly what is needed when discussing STEM concepts. Using more words than necessary is a drawback. Using inexact language without getting to “the gist” is a negative.
I’m not saying that women cannot make or haven’t made great contributions in STEM fields. I’m just pointing out that their default communication style appears to be ill-suited for discussing STEM ideas, and therefore, we shouldn’t act like something is terribly wrong if every STEM profession is not split 50/50 between the two genders.
Out of curiosity have you been reading any of Jonathan haidt’s work on the subject? You might find it interesting.
I had literally typed out the question “What would their response be to A Day without a Man, seeing as how they are vastly more responsible for society functioning?” in the morning links, but wussed out for fear of sounding too misogynistic.
Great article Banjos, and thanks for the stats!
posted in Morning Linxs but more apropos here =
Reuters also ran a photo-essay which i think mostly sends (to me at least) a message about the absurd privilege of American Feminists =
Working Women Around The World
(who presumably aren’t taking the day off)
Among them are ‘street sweeper’ in Mexico, a member of the IDF in Israel, a helicopter pilot from Georgia, a Chinese construction worker etc, a Jordanian plumber….
… a number of the jobs highlighted in Western countries come across as comparatively silly and gender-typical: fashion designer, bureaucrat, choreographer, hairdresser etc.
Actually sort of interesting for how it might reveal how much farther women have come, economically, in other countries, while complaining the most about their advanced condition here in the West
**let me add that i actually found the photo montage (for a cynical and heartless bastard like me) surprisingly ‘inspiring’ – a term millenials seem to beat to death – and touching, and many other very feels-words.
It was genuinely interesting and encouraging to see women around the world in so many otherwise typical-male roles, despite their sad lack of gender-studies departments agitating on their behalf. Its almost as if (gasp! shocker) they were simply adapting to economic reality and not actually bothering with any of the identity-politics bullshit at all.

Beautiful.
“Let me play you the song of my gender”
Pour some sugar on me?
My finance who is a Democrat and refers to herself as a feminist even thinks this whole thing is absurd. She went to work today because you know….we have to live. The third wave feminists are starting to drive a lot of women away with their bullshit and it couldn’t have happen any fasted.
Ed is a gigolo. Nice.
Ahahahaha, oh I wished someone would pay me for sex.
Careful what you wish for. *lights Warty signal*
STEVE SMITH MAKE YOU PAY PRICE FOR SEX!
He also apparently knows a place where you can buy Attractive White Women. Ed is living the American Dream.
Is there a refund policy and can you just do a short lease?
You misspelled “leash”.
I knew someone was going to say that.
Yesh. It was shomewhat inevitable.
I thought that was an open secret about the former Soviet satellite republics?
NTTAWWT
Everywhere he goes, people know the part he’s playing.
Sloopy, your wench is clearly out of control. Her article indicate a sound mind, but you let her out of the kitchen and on the internet? Good heavens man, at this rate you’ll never have enough children to form your own baseball team.
He keeps her pregnant. What more do you want?
Ok, so I hear there was a day without a woman? When was this? Did I miss it? Because I keep seeing the same women I see everyday and some random other ones. What’s the deal? If there’s going to be a day without women, aren’t all us guys entitled to experience it?
Hey, can I at least get a goddamn HOUR without a woman? Maybe tonight between 7-8 so I can smoke a cigar in peace?!
Seriously!
if there were GIFs with sound, this would probably be appropriate
Mr. Show was good, even if it was half written by David Cross.
I didn’t learn to hate him until long after that. He was actually a much needed breath of fresh-air in comedy in the late 1990s. But it got stale pretty quick.
Saw him many years ago live. He came out in an American Flag Speedo, pretended to butt fuck another dude in a Speedo, and kept yelling “Fuck Bush, fuck Bush”. I’m no lover of W, but that isn’t funny or clever.
Nice.
Give ’em hell.
Great write-up, Banjos.
My wife’s reaction, after showing her the article from this morning’s links about school closings today:
In trying to stick it to the man, you’re just screwing over more women instead.
Third-gen feminism in a nutshell.
Third Wave feminism is basically a group of upper and middle class white women bitching about how terrible they have it in life. So of course they don’t think about others who might be adversely affected by their policies or protests.
There I go, getting uppity.
“Unmentionalbes”? You weren’t supposed to mention that.
It goes without saying
On the QT.
get em!
Gender traitor
Have actually been called a gender traitor online … on the calorie tracking website I use, of all places. xD
The best thing to do in that situation is either ignore them or laugh in their faces (or online).
You are correct. I used to try to fight emotional reactions with facts… but it never works out. Now I just try to be glib about it.
Drink!
Someone once called me an Uncle Tom and I glibly replied that I sometimes masturbate to D.W. Griffith’s, Birth of a Nation. You have no idea how angry that person got at me.
The best way to deal with people like that is to dismiss their stupidity outright instead of trying to engage them.
Ask them if F – M trannies are gender traitors.
I actually might next time. That’s hilarious.
Did you badmouth chocolate ice cream or something?
I don’t know if anyone else already went there, but…
Inside every progressive man is an even lesser woman.
Thank you.
Pegging?
Not judging but not my thing.
Trump more lovable as girl.
http://hotair.com/archives/2017/03/07/academics-swapped-gender-of-trump-clinton-for-restaged-presidential-debate-and-the-results-surprised-them/
Its interesting the totally unselfconscious bias that the lead for this experiment brought to it, but I have to give him credit for recognizing that his bias was unfounded:
Salvatore says it was personally education for him as many members of his extended family had voted for Trump. “I developed empathy for people who voted for him by doing this project, which is not what I was expecting,” he told NYU News.
I read their write-up of the experiment, and the guy’s pretty honest. He said he went into it expecting to dislike Trump voters even more than he already did, but it had the opposite effect.
I can tolerate progs who are at least honest with themselves and with others, even if I disagree with them. It’s a rare thing to encounter one, though.
I watched one of the videos of these restaged debates. It was elucidating, I admit it. My dislike of the people themselves made it harder to see that they were also spewing awful shit.
Watch this. Its short, and it is amazing the difference it makes in how you take in what Trump says. Stuff like this is what made me realize a lot of the oppo to Trump is as shallow as can be, rooted in nothing more than distaste for his personal style.
It’s amazing the credulous reception I get when I turn on my native accent; not so much in NYC or the town I live in among people who know me, but with service workers, colleagues from remote offices etc. And <humblebrag> … let’s not forget the impact on women.
It really is interesting. We really latch onto style.
Watch out, everybody – you’re getting danger-close to admitting that a *sneer* social sciences experiment was interesting and worthwhile, when everybody knows that if you aren’t an engineer of some type, you’re a worthless SJW with nothing worthwhile to contribute to society.
Stuff like this is interesting.
Its just not generalizable, which is where social “science” so often goes wrong. A bog-standard social scientist would probably say that this proves women are more likable than men (Trump was more likable as a woman, Hillary even less likable as a man), and that therefor women should be the first choice for all electoral positions.
Oh I’m aware, I was just needling the Hit N’Rungineering crowd.
*edited because I think what I had in here was a bit harsh towards said crowd
I recall a survey of Fortune 500 CEOs from way back (like the early 2000s) where they collected info on their education and other prior work experiences….
…and the details that i remember (being interesting to me at the time) were
– most went to state schools
– the average GPA was B+
– most had BAs, and were pretty fragmented as to actual area of study (like 1/3 had ‘business administration’ or ‘communications’; but the others were all over the map, like psychology, history, languages, etc)
– half (or barely half) had post-graduate studies, but even there it wasn’t always MBAs; many actually pursued other things
the single most defining features about all of them (and i think it was like 70%+) was that they had all started businesses or worked for themselves very early in their own careers; basically, they were adamant self-starters interested in ‘running something’. And that all had held some sales-related job.
Engineers are wonderfully useful, and may make the world run, but they don’t necessarily run the world.
Interesting strawman you’ve erected there?
It’d be a strawman if I was making that as a serious argument, instead of obvious jocular hyperbole playing on the more extreme remarks some commenters have made over the last couple of years.
(responding to the response, end-of-threading is weird.)
Fair enough.
It’s amazing how people can’t tell sarcasm, especially here. I ASSUME sarcasm, always.
I think the social sciences can produce interesting studies, even if the results are rarely as solid as they are reported. The same holds true here. But beyond that, a lot of the criticism of the field from people who post around these parts stems simply from their overwhelmingly one-sided and obviously political bias and how that very often colors the results they get. We have an instance here of an obvious progressive set of researchers coming to a conclusion that they did not expect or want.
It’s interesting even it doesn’t prove anything.
I am 100% in favor of letting banks make student loans based on what they think are the most likely educations to enable the students to repay said loans. Shit, I want to privatize all colleges anyway. In such a scheme, I don’t think you’d necessarily see more engineers (for myself, as an example, the field just doesn’t appeal to me), but I think you’d see a lot fewer college students overall as people stopped going to party for four years.
That having been said, I don’t like objecting to the existence of something based on it’s political leaning. If a lot of the people doing the complaining would be silent if the “social scientists” (and I’m not a fan of calling it science) were producing right-wing work, that’s a problem to me. Either object to the thing itself, or don’t, but don’t object because the people involved happen to not agree with you politically.
Anyway that’s my hot-take on the phenomenon you describe.
It would lower some of the BA degrees, but it would also force companies to stop using that as a requisite for a job.
I missed it when actual science (and remember, the criticism is aimed at these studies masquerading as a science that attempts to create generalized theories) included a host of predetermined conclusions related to ones political beliefs. I also missed it when science or studies, no matter the results, were to be interpreted through the lenses of political ideology even when, or perhaps especially when, the data is inconvenient for said narrative.
I am perfectly willing to go through any bullshit social science study someone posts in an argument with me and explain exactly why I think its bullshit. But you, apparently, think mocking the field that produces those studies in bulk is somehow a sign of hypocrisy or intellectual dishonesty (or at least something close to that, as I understand you)? That’s just bullshit.
I object to the social sciences being passed off as actual legitimate science and the broad conclusions people, especially progressives, try to use it to reach. This bullshit very often gets passed off as actual fact uncritically under the guise of science when it simply is not.
So I’ll continue to mock these people when they demonstrate blatant and obvious prejudice and misinterpret or skew their own research while claiming to be objective, unbiased observers of reality.
i read that as a self-congratulatory version of, “i realized i had been sort of retarded”
I read it more as someone channeling their inner Dian Fossey. Might be because I’m a nasty SOB.
You cynical son-of-a-bitch. At least he admitted he was kind of wrong. I mean, as social science has told us, that’s pretty tough for humans to do.
I know, i was just observing that when people do that, they tend to pick a way of framing it which applauds themselves for self-discovery of a new virtue (or enlargement of a virtue they already posses)
Not, ‘maybe i was stupid before’, but instead, “my sense of empathy has been enlarged”
That ego won’t engorge itself y’know.
And the unselfconscious bias in arguing that Hillary is competent.
Initially, both Guadalupe and Salvatore had little doubt what the experiment would reveal, i.e. Trump’s behavior would never be tolerated coming from a woman while Clinton’s competence would be even more obvious coming from a man. But as rehearsals for the performance of the reimagined debates went on, Guadalupe and Salvatore were surprised by what they were feeling about the two candidates. It turned out the woman version of Trump seemed more likable than they had imagined. Salvatore told Guadalupe during rehearsals, “I kind of want to have a beer with her!”
Huh. Well, good on ’em for being honest.
“I’m even a better woman than Hillary! Amazing. Unbelievable. I don’t even need to change anything.”
I’m even a better woman than Hillary!
That is a very low bar, though.
My friend took an fb poll asking which of her women friends would strike today. No one was, but one woman said she wouldn’t buy anything. Others posted this article:
The “Day Without a Woman” strike is going to be mostly a day without privileged women
I think this stupid day has lost the liberal center.
one woman said she wouldn’t buy anything
I goes days on end without buying anything other than lunch, and I don’t always buy lunch. I brought my lunch today, so can I claim today as “Day Without a Dean”?
Well, more like “Day without a cis-het shitlord” really.
I make my own lunch, so I go days on end without buying anything.
By privileged women, they mean useless and unproductive parasites. Productivity will probably be up for the day accomplishing the exact opposite of what they intended.
The marxist I work with loudly explained that she didn’t wear red or strike today because feminism is a wedge used to drive apart the working class.
Truly, she has a dizzying intellect.
lack of oxygen to the brain is known to do that.
You work with twenty year old Communist Me?
If 20 year old communist you is a fat woman from Kansas in her mid 40s who won’t shut up about how Trump is going to kill everyone and brags about “having contacts in Anonymous” and leading BLM protests, then yes, yes I do.
Actually sounds like the woman I bought my copies of Spartacus International from. She have a mustache?
I haven’t been able to look at her face long enough to ascertain as much.
Who does she think is pushing this horseshit?
One of the other, ideologically impure kinds of authoritarianism?
Bourgeois capitalist women who just want more of the pie for themselves, and aren’t down with overthrowing every civilization based on the concept of private property.
Thanks, Banjos!
I really enjoyed this one. Mrs. Tundra is everything these freaks despise: beautiful, educated, good at everything. She left a career in finance when the kids were small and found out she loved it. Great wife, great mom and requires zero validation from ‘feminists’.
Suck it, proggies!
Disney Princesses picketing.
Bonus points for Jasmine in the hijab. Nothing says “fight the patriarchy” like a hijab. So woke.
She’s not a prize to be won. She’s a prize to be auctioned off to the guy with the most goats.
Oh look, there is that rainbow of women I was looking for yesterday to illustrate my taste in poon. (I would have been much more tasteful in my description but I cant help myself. I am part of the patriarchy.)
Oh God. That’s awful. “sick of swimming?” — Ariel got her wish but it kind of sucked without the MAN she LOVED.
I’m offended by the lack of Rapunzel (the end of the movie version with short brown hair) and Anna.
If you ask me, I think it’s an ovary action.
*falls out of chair, limps up to begin rousing applause*
*simultaneously scowls and narrows gaze*
There cannot be a day without a man. Or the world will end. Want to know how I know this? Just let me count the times that my wife says one of the following every day:
Honey, can you…
Honey, did you…
Honey, will you…
Honey, are you going to…
Honey, when are you going to…
Honey, I need you to…
See, if men were unnecessary, I just just sit here all day and besides doing work stuff, I could just post here and not have a care in the world. But I’m telling you this is impossible, because MEN ARE ESSENTIAL!
How many times does she have to ask you to do that shit before you get it done?
I always do it right after the last time that she asks me.
And it’s always in the last place you look.
Well, I’m standing in solidarity with this and not going to work today. The fact this is one of my three days off is beside the point.
Wait, can I identify as having a day off?
Only if you actually show up to work.
Twitter praises Lena Dunham. The replies are priceless. I wonder how many bans they’re handing out today.
haaha these are great.
If Lena Dunham can admit to being a child predator, then I, too, can be proud of whoever it is I feel like being this morning, shitlords.
That makes me feel unsafe.
You can report it, but I’m sure she has friends on the twitter goodspeech counsel.
Word on the street is that the entire Twitter engineering team ran a train on it.
Ew.
AND SHE LIKED IT.
Isn’t Twatter banning wrong think?
Oh, this one is brand new, but one of the absolute best:
Brilliant satire in just four words.
Okay…this “monocled” add on is really nice, but all the posts on the page are marked as read if I make a post. Is there a way to “fix” that?
Read them before you post?
Has anyone figured out why Trump hasn’t just fired Comey yet?
Probably because he needs someone who knows/understands the landscape in the intel community who can help him understand who his enemies are.
Comey’s not a direct enemy; he’s just not a great-asset. But he may be very useful in being the least-adversarial of the people in the IC; i also think, from what i’ve heard of Trump, is that he’s normally sort of a “patton” type when it comes to management; contra his TV show, he doesn’t like to fire people, but instead rebuke them internally when they fail and build them up to be better at their jobs (for his purposes).
He may be planning to dump him at the end of the year, after the bullshit about the Clinton investigations have calmed down. Keeping him around might keep the pro-clinton types nervous, knowing that Comey Knows All on that particular topic.
I buy this. A suitable chastened and pressured Comey is an excellent sword to keep hanging over the Clintons’ heads, and on the assumption that he does his job, reports in keeps ideology out of his work, he’s probably no problem *for the moment*.
If I were him, however, I’d be networking and refreshing my resume a bit.
Furthermore, a Comey inside the tent pissing out is better than a Comey outside the tent, pissing in.
Might look too “partisan-y” or whatever the word is.
Cowboys releasing Romo tomorrow.
He probably wants to go to the Broncos? Really?
He wants to go play in the Division with Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa?
people here want him. I’m not sure why.
I’m not a broncos fan though, so maybe I’m missing something.
The talking heads keep selling him, but when was the last time he finished a season?
Justin Houston would like a word.
Right?
And why would the Texans pay for Romo? Didn’t they just drop a shit ton of money on Osweiler?
Is it guaranteed? B/c if it isn’t, it’s not like Osweiler was lighting everyone up last year.
They could get rid of him right now and be on the hook for 25 mil. 6 more than if they keep him another year.
They gave Osweiler 37 million guaranteed. Plus 12 million signing bonus
Siemian isn’t the issue in Denver. He might not be all that great, but it’s not on him.
I’m a Broncos fan but I am really not that into Tony Romo.
I think he’s a really good QB but just too fragile at this point.
Especially given their offensive line.
Elway needs to fix that to get an actual running game. That will help whoever the hell is back there playing QB.
You know maybe this stuff would have an impact of some sort if it was a rare occurance for one major issue but all the constant bitching and moaning about irrelevant stuff and things no normal individual would take seriously. Omg siri is sexist and manspreading.
So now this comes and no one in his right mind takes it seriously.
Papers like statistics is patriarhal and racist don’t help.

Have they learned nothing from Neil Armstrong? “A” woman? Which woman will this day proceed without?
Researchers said sharing equal responsibility for domestic chores doesn’t necessarily contribute to contentment, and that the lack of equality at home and quality of life was surprising. “One would think that break-ups would occur more often in families with less equality at home, but our statistics show the opposite,” Hansen said.
It’s quite a mystery.
A Song to Go With This Thread
Someone I went to college with texted me out of the blue today (I didn’t even realize she still had my number)—a group text to like 20 other people, all of them strangers to me, proclaiming, “HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY, SMASH THE GLASS CEILING!” I then got incessant texts from people I don’t know for an hour, full of emojis and “HOLLA” and memes that I didn’t dare open lest my head explode. I’ve been actively trying to avoid the derp and now it’s seeking me out.
