Was having a discussion with the squeeze last night about red/king crab invading the waters of Scandinavia and what effect that has had on the Alaska fishing industry and king crab prices. Apparently the Norwegians are fishing the ever-lovin hell out of the invading king crabs, while the quotas in the Alaska fishery have been greatly reduced.
So soon we will be importing king crab from Scandinavia while plummeting prices and government quotas drive the Alaskan king crab industry out of business. Which the government will then need to subsidize to preserve this way of life and American institution.

That’s why they came to the negotiating table. All we needed them to do was forgo the right to enrich their own uranium as a consequence of violating the NPT. Even China and Russia were on board with the sanctions that drove them to the negotiating table.
Obama let them off the hook, and the reason he did so was specifically because it was to the detriment of the United States. He didn’t wanted to tie the hands of future administrations in their ability to use the NPT to pressure Iran. Never mind that this gave encouragement to the North Koreans, never mind that this virtually guarantees that Iran will acquire both nukes and the ICBMs to deliver them in the future–the point was to tie the hands of future administrations.

The changes to the original cuts are permanent. Any restoration would really just be an attempt at perfectly imitating the original, but it will never be the same thing.

The VHS release was the last release of the original cuts (I believe, there was also a laserdisc release of the original trilogy). I still have my VHS copies sitting on the shelf.

I’m not a legal expert, and It obviously depends on their history of opinions and the specific letter law, but I could see someone using that to argue that building a firearm from already manufactured and previously un-assembled parts does not constitute a “making” of an NFA firearm either.
The NFA is completely obsolete, and should be repealed.

My suspicion is just that there are too many right-wing views on Facebook for the MSM’s tastes and omnipresent calls for more intrusive censorship tools have become par for the course, because once they’re in place they never go away. And, of course, there will be those who seek to use tragedies like this to further empower the police state. Nobody will be able to get there any faster and stop a crime in progress, no matter how well-intentioned the reasons. Humans are fragile creatures and it simply doesn’t take much to kill one of us.
Despite the material itself being objectionable, who would want to stop a murderer from providing the best possible evidence for conviction? It defies reason. As per usual, the real reason this kind of thing can’t be taken down quickly once the contents have been observed by the unlucky few is that too many others are using the content reporting features for no other purpose but censorship of opposing views and the number of people FB employs to look into that kind of thing simply can never be enough to stem the tide of reports.
Probably a little of both.
