TRUE SOCIALIST: Apparently Bernie Sanders Is Stealing His Neighbor’s ‘Washington Post’
Okay so I am slightly sad Bernie isn’t president, because he has the potential to be even more hilarious than Trump, but more of the ‘I’m laughing at you’ variety.
I’d prefer it if Bernie was the leader of, say, France. That way we could laugh at his hypocrisy and true socialist tendencies while not suffering under his true socialist policies (yeah France would be, but they’re France)
The irony: he is probably still more in favor of actual freedom than the socialists in charge of France.
There just has to be some enterprising paparazzi out there willing to stake out the delivery of the paper and catch him in the act. I’d pay to see those photos

Hey folks, I’m going to be on the road for a sizable chunk of August thanks to two weddings, my grandparents wanting me to pick up heirloom cookware that they refuse to ship and a solar eclipse. The plan is to leave LA on 08/05 and arrive in the Finger Lakes area of NY by 08/10. The shortest route takes me past Vegas, Denver the southern bits of Nebraska and Iowa and the northern bits of IL, IN, OH, a corner of PA and Buffalo *cries*.
I then get to flip around and motor back west to Winnipeg with a stop over in Chicagoland, a wedding on the 19th (in Winnipeg), and a good faith effort to be in the Casper, WY area by 11am on 08/21 to watch the sun blotted out, the sky turn to blood and stalk the landscape.
From 08/21 to 08/26 I have a wee bit of time to kill before another wedding (people need to cut this shit out) in the Tahoe area, so I was thinking of skirting north a bit and maybe going to Yellowstone or stalking some of the Montana Glibs…although I’m not entirely sure I want to drive a car with CA plates there.
I’m tentatively planning to watch the eclipse in Beatrice, Nebraska. I live relatively close to there.
Well you’re not coming to Phoenix so I can’t take you shooting and maybe cleanse some of that effeminacy (yeah I DID have to google it!) off of ya. You could stop by and borrow a gun though… you might need it in Montana.
I’ve got a wedding on the 19th, too (my niece and her fiancé are getting married). Fucking 3PM wedding, which means the reception goes into the late evening and I have to stay over a second night.
You must be going to the northern side of the Finger Lakes, or else you wouldn’t have to go to Buffalo. The walk up Watkins Glen is pretty and damn easy, and the Corning Glass Museum is fun to visit.
My family is all from Canandaigua, but headed to Victor.
My sister and her first husband lived in Victor before their divorce. But that was 20 years ago.
Do you need and travel information or things to do in Chicago or northern Indiana?
He’s actually brave enough to come visit Chez OMWC/SP. We can’t wait!
My main fear is that I’ll tell embarrassing stories about Los Doyers once I’m wine-drunk.
I’m surprised your main fear doesn’t involve rum…
While rum is my danger drink, I’m not visiting Florida Man and his Cuban neighbors (I assume Cubans, rednecks and elderly Jewish biddies from NY are equally distributed in FL). The OMWC/SP household is known for excessively good wine. When in Rome…
Fair enough! You’ll have to wrangle a bottle of Bugey Cerdon out of them. Fantastic stuff. Won’t make you blind. 10/10
Won’t make you blind.
Spoilers!
If you are looking for anything to do in North Dakota, let me know. (I assume you’ll come through here on the way to and from Winnipeg)
He’s asking, because he needs something to do in ND.
Spoiler – There is nothing to do in either of the Dakotas.

*takes notes on proper ND etiquette*
Is there a special cadence to that I should be aware of?
Nothing to do!?! There’s at least two Glibs to hang out with in North Dakota!
I remember Sandi telling us that she took a shit in North Dakota once.
I might just. the bits I’ll be going through North Dakota will be the most time sensitive just because I have to be north of there in time for the wedding and south of there in time for the eclipse, but I’m also gonna need to take a break here and there.
As a former Wyoming resident there are a host of sights to see besides the summer zoo of humanity that is Yellowstone. If you interested in the trapper (aka mountain man) era Pinedale has a good museum on it plus easy access to the Wind River range. The Winds are my favorite range in North America. If the Oregon Trail interests you, there are a host of sites to see and you can drive or mountain bike long stretches of it. The big wide open spaces are fantastic. Yellowstone is worth a trip if you have never been there, but the Tetons are more spectacular. If you like to fish try Yellowstone. Since the Park predates the states the only license required is from the NPS. There are strict limits on taking native species, but no limits on the non-native trout species.
Montana (three years living in Bozeman) has lots of great things to see as well, besides our Glibs there.
The Gallatin Valley is one of my favorite places in the country. Fishing is great, as well.
I’ll bookmark this and take a look when I have a map in front of me. Thanks for the recommendations.
If you want more info email me at our google hide and I can provide it to you.
It’s been years since I was in that part of the west, but I second dbleagle’s statement that the Tetons are more spectacular than Yellowstone.
I think Glacier Nat’l Park takes them all though. Still haven’t seen Denali.
Yep. Been to Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Tetons, Rocky Mountain NP and many more.
Glacier NP tops them all.
I’m late back to the thread, so hopefully you’ll see this;
Let me know if you are looking for things to do in NoDak. Yes, it’s not the most interesting place in the world, but there are little gems here and there.
Depending on how your timeline works out, maybe you’ll have time for a NoDak stop. I know two Glibs who would be happy to have a drink or two with you on your way through. Contact me @ schmidtyUNDERSCOREndATyahooDOTcom and even if a meet-up doesn’t happen, hopefully I can give you some good advice about things to see/places to stay.

See if you can swing by the Little Big Horn battlefield in Montana. It is emotionally moving to stand there and see where the defenders of their liberty made one final, successful stand against the U.S. government and the 7th cavalry invaders.

My accident means that we’ll be driving. Look for the silver Murano with NM plates and a sign on the back window for Housecleaning services.
We took a rental to visit my Mom in Thompson Falls, MT last summer that had CA plates. The looks from some of the locals could freeze nitrogen.

when we bought our house the AC broke, so we were sleeping with the windows open. When the shuttle re entered the atmosphere it’s rattled the windows hard enough to make them slam shut. There may have been a few seconds I was disordentedly waving a .45 at the window. Good times.
My pound puppy we had years ago would go absolutely ape-shit, barking and jumping at the sky at fireworks, and that would be exactly what I’d expect from Florida Man.

So looks like the Senate voted to begin debate about healthcare. As two republicans voted no, I think this looks like something will now happen but we just don’t know what yet. I read that Rand Paul’s plan to repeal Obamacare in 2 years with no strings attached will be discussed on the floor as well as the Senate’s earlier version that was Obamacare lite.
People with no principles hardest hit.
Apparently being forced to go on record was a game changer. The threat of being primaried out was enough to solidify the votes needed to begin the process. Not much information but sounds like Rand will have a chance to present his case for repeal though it’s unlikely to succeed.
And right on cue the people with no principles show up.
Collins is at least a consistent RINO, I’ll give her that. Voted nay in 2015, nay this time.
If they repeal Ocare I will throw a freaking banquet. I could seriously use affordable health insurance again.
I dont know if we will ever have affordable healthcare again regardless. Then again i didnt think we would have under $2 a gal gas a few years ago so who knows
We have under $2/gal gas?
I do. Cant speak for you. 1.95$
I think it hit a $1.85 here.
Right? I have to wait until my Fry’s fuel reward builds up for two months before I get under $2.
Who the hell is Fry and why does hegive you points?
First it was Smitty’s. Smitty’s was awesome.
Smitty’s was bought out by Kroger…
who changed it to Smiths & Smitty’s…
Then Kroger dropped the Smitty’s and just called it Smith’s…
Then Kroger bought out another AZ chain called Fry’s.
So they changed all the Smith’s to Fry’s…
I buy groceries at Fry’s because Kroger doesn’t make me keep my gun in my car. My car gets hot. Fry’s gives me points to use at their onsite gas station (usually $.10/gal). The more stuff I buy, the lower my fuel.
Kroger rules the roost around here. Never seen a Frys. Its kinda wierd, the whole country looks almost the same, only the store names change.
The points are from the future.
Only thing I miss about AZ: Fry’s Electronics.

*attempts to boost MN street cred* Yeah so how are Rainbow Foods and Lunds/Byerlys these days? I was young, but for some reason that image has been embedded in my head all these years.
::racks brain on why anyone whould want MN street cred:::
Rainbow is mostly gone, I think (swallowed by Cub). Lunds/Byerly’s is still nice, although I think they’ve largely dispensed with the carpet in the newer stores.
I wish Costco did the gas discounts, though. I’d end up with free gas!

I have better insurance now but my deductible and out of pocket were so high for several years that we effectively did not have health insurance, at least no usable insurance. I paid $200 cash, no insurance accepted, for a pregnancy ultrasound at a private clinic that would have run me $700 after insurance at the hospital.
No matter what happens, rest assured that millions will lose their health care so the rich can have a tax break.
Lets hope so!

I’m pretty confident that something will get done in the coming weeks or so. I’m expecting a shit sandwich, but that’s been my expectation the entirety of this year. More interested by the future tax debate and the continuing regulatory reform.

A Tale of Two Videos: Why Rand Paul was Wrong and Why he May Have Changed his Mind
I’ve got two Rand Paul videos to point out. I’ll split them into two different posts so staff doesn’t have to dig them out of the spam folder.
Video 1:
On Sunday, Rand Paul did an interview on CNN explaining why he opposed the Senate bill to replace ObamaCare.
Link Here:
http://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2017/07/23/sotu-paul-disappointed.cnn
First notice the reasons he did not give for opposing the Senate bill.
1) He did not oppose it because some future congress might reinstate Medicaid spending
2) He did not oppose it because cutting Medicaid doesn’t really translate into cutting Medicaid.
3) He did not oppose it because the bill doesn’t cut Medicaid all the way down to zero.
Those of you who believe those things, again, I don’t think you got those ideas from Rand Paul. Two out of three of them were repeatedly championed by Peter Suderman, and, subconsciously or otherwise, I suspect his ideas about why libertarians should oppose the AHCA somehow attached themselves to your mind—like a thetan attaching itself to the psyche of a Scientologist. Rand Paul doesn’t appear to endorse any such tripe, and those of you who project these ideas onto him are doing him a great disservice. Rand Paul is not stupid.
The reasons Rand Paul did give for opposing the Senate bill.
1) He wants a straight repeal vote and a different vote for the replacement.
2) He doesn’t like the replacement because it gives taxpayer money to rich insurance executives.
3) It means millions fewer people will be insured according to the CBO.
The first point is about how he doesn’t want to have to vote for the replacement, but he wants to vote for the repeal. Whether the Republicans should have, like Cortez scuttling his ships, left no way to go back is academic at this point—the CNN guy (I believe correctly) points out that Rand Paul opposed repeal without replacement back when that was being debated. Regardless, that’s spilt milk.
The second point sounds like something Liz Warren or Barack Obama would say. From what I can tell, what he’s talking about is the AHCA and the senate bill using subsidies to move people from off of Medicaid and onto private insurance, just like Milton Friedman would have had us move kids from public schools to private schools with vouchers. I support doing both of those things for the same reasons—among them:
a) We can’t get a bill passed to cut off public school or to cut off medical care for the poor. A change that can’t pass Congress isn’t a change. It’s ObamaCare.
b) For markets to work effectively to solve the problems of poor students and healthcare consumers, they have to be in the private system.
c) In the case of Medicaid, an enormous part of our problems are due to Medicaid and Medicare. Getting more people off of those programs means they won’t be causing as big of a market distortion in the private market.
d) As we kick more people off of Medicaid and the private market expands, the insurance market will continue becoming more competitive on price—which, hopefully, will translate into kicking even more people off of Medicaid. This is the way to get rid of Medicaid entirely.
The third point about there being fewer insured, according to the CBO report, 75% of those people won’t be insured because of the repeal of the individual mandate; i.e., three-fourths of that has nothing to do with the replacement. That’s about the repeal!
Suffice it to say, I found Rand Paul’s arguments unpersuasive. I believe he’s playing politics. He’s pandering to certain elements he sees both in Kentucky and that serve his aspirations to become president someday. There are a lot of red state, blue collar workers in Kentucky, and a lot of poor people who depend on Medicaid. I think he’s pandering to them and making excuses. His father did the same things. His father campaigned against and voted against free trade agreements. His father famously pandered to extremely non-libertarian types in his newsletters. Nationally, for the old Tea Party people, there were a lot of people who wanted to cut spending—because they wanted to save Medicare and Social Security, not because they wanted to cut them. I think Rand Paul saw Trump sail on the backs of former Democrat blue collar voters—and he’s making himself out to be their champion.
That was Sunday. My what a difference two days makes!
I think we need to start ‘The Rand Report’ with Ken Shultz as a regular article.
Just for the record, it’s the biggest story going on right now.
We’re talking about kicking 11 million people off of Medicaid and shaving $770 billion off the cost of Medicaid over a period of ten years.
No one has ever dared to cut Medicaid eligibility before.
And Medicaid is a huge socialist program.
And Rand Paul is the deciding 50th vote!
It’s a big story, and it deserves a lot of attention.
If it happens, I will buy you a 6 pack of any beer of your choice. That’s how sure I am it isn’t happening.
I hope it does!
I don’t know which Republican senator wants to be the one who’s responsible for immortalizing ObamaCare, but things don’t happen for no reason.
If ObamaCare is immortalized, it’ll be because one of 50 Republican senators didn’t vote for it, and if I’m reading the tea leaves properly?
The senators who don’t want it to pass don’t want to go on the record. If 50 voted to start debate and bring it to a vote, then that probably Probably PROBABLY means they’re going to vote for it. If you don’t want to go on the record against it, why would you vote to bring it to a vote?
It’s up there with the Syrian ceasefire
Are you being sarcastic?
If the ceasefire holds and spreads, and it’s because Trump brokered a deal with Putin–that Putin was able to deliver on through Hezbollah, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, and the Assad regime–you don’t think that will be a big news story?
You don’t think Trump campaigning on a pragmatic foreign policy and collaborating with Putin on Syria and then implementing a pragmatic foreign policy in Syria through collaborating with Putin is a big news story?
I’d think that was big news even if it were from purely a Mueller investigation angle. I’d love it if Mueller’s report came back saying that Trump officials meeting with their Russian counterparts was a lot about collaborating with Putin on Syria–even as a serious peace has broken out in Syria because of Trump’s efforts.
Since that would mean the U.S. no longer had Syria or ISIS in Syria on our agenda.
“”a serious peace has broken out””
It bears reminding that the actual war is between Syrians, not US vs Russia
And that this temp ceasefire is limited to a narrow part of the country where non-syrians are especially prevalent. The rest of the country is still very much having a war.
We’re talking about kicking 11 million people off of Medicaid and shaving $770 billion off the cost of Medicaid over a period of ten years.
10 years bro. Do you really think they will follow through with that over ten muthafuckin years? They would not even roll out obamacare as written because of what it would do. They made changes for several years of the roll out. They change everything as it comes along. I appreciate your enthusiasm here, but would not a complete roll back do the same thing? If they just pass a simple, “It is canceled and everything goes back to pre-obamacare” would achieve that and more.
Because some future congress can undo the cuts is certainly no reason to oppose making cuts today.
The cuts we’re talking about are because they’re rolling back the ObamaCare Medicaid eligibility expansion. If they don’t expand Medicaid eligibility again, then that’s the CBO’s estimate of what we’re talking about in terms of the people being kicked off of Medicaid. The Medicaid expansion was the most significant part of what we’re talking about when we talk about ObamaCare. The individual mandate was just meant to compensate insurers for all the money they’d be reamed for because of the ObamaCare Medicaid expansion.
When the Obama administration argued before the Supreme Court that ObamaCare would fold like a house of cards without the individual mandate, they weren’t lying. What’s 75% of 26 million? That’s how many people the CBO is projecting won’t buy health insurance without the individual mandate, and a ton of those people are young people whom ObamaCare meant to force to buy insurance specifically because they won’t use it.
It’s always true that some future congress can undo what this congress does, but it’s not like the AHCA or senate bill are kicking those people out of the healthcare system completely. They’re being given subsidies to go buy themselves insurance on the open market. If and when some future congress increases Medicaid eligibility again, they’re going to find that they need to bring back the individual mandate again. You probably can’t have one without the other–and not wreck the system. Hell, they’re having a hard time getting the insurers to stay on the exchanges even with the individual mandate. To increase Medicaid eligibility again and make the system work, not only would need to reinstate the individual mandate, they’d need to make it higher in real terms than it is today.
TANSTAAFL
Especially if kicking all those people off of Medicaid helps stabilize premium increases, how popular will bringing back the individual mandate be?
They’re being given subsidies to go buy themselves insurance on the open market
Ya, that is what we need to replace Medicaid expansion. Subsidies.
I have no doubt you have digested all this more than I have, but, all I know, is I want it to go back to when I could buy a catastrophic plan for work related injuries and other unforeseen illnesses for a few hundred bucks a month after a qualifying physical and pay for the rest of my health care out of pocket. Will this bill do that? Not from what I hear. The safety net was there before, and it would remain if the whole thing was repealed. The Repubs just suck at selling, because, well, they suck. Fuck subsidies.
One more time: Moving people from Medicaid to private plans with subsidies is exactly like moving kids from public schools to private schools with vouchers.
https://www.edchoice.org/who-we-are/our-founders/the-friedmans-on-school-choice/article/milton-friedman-on-vouchers/
Just like you can’t close down public schools to privatize education (no congress will endorse that), no congress will leave poor, pregnant people without any access to healthcare. That doesn’t mean we can’t transition away from Medicaid and into a private system–and subsidies are the way to accomplish that. Note, I’m not talking about subsidies like the government subsidizing companies directly to care for the poor; I’m talking about Medicaid recipients getting a certain amount of money to go buy health insurance–obviating the need for the government to be involved in mandating care, overseeing how the money is spent, rationing benefits, etc.
Perhaps most importantly, that system means people are buying insurance policies that are profitable for the insurance company. The biggest problem with our health system now is that Medicare and Medicaid only pay for a fraction of the cost of care–and leave providers to gouge private insurers and private pay patients to make up the difference.
I’ve posted statistics before, on this site, showing that on average, insurance companies are charged 150% of cost because Medicare and Medicaid pay less than cost. That’s an average. If you live in an urban area with a larger than average number of people on Medicaid, insurers can be gouged double the cost, etc., which is why your HMO and PPO are so obsessive about making sure you stay “in network”.
Point is, the more people we take off of Medicaid, the more that problem goes away.
Meanwhile, ObamaCare made it so you couldn’t buy plans that didn’t cover things like child dentistry–regardless of whether you have kids–because they wanted to force you to pay more to the insurance companies to make up for all the money the insurance companies gets gouged because the government reimburses providers for less than cost of care for Medicare and Medicaid patients.
My understanding is that both the AHCA and Senate plan get rid of a lot of that required stuff–but realize, that problem of requiring insurance plans to cover things you don’t want or need is a symptom–not the disease.
The disease is Medicare and Medicaid. You can’t have some 70% of the market paying only a fraction of the cost of care–leave the providers to gouge the insurers to make up for those losses–and then expect the system to function properly. There is no way to address such symptoms without cutting Medicare eligibility and/or Medicaid eligibility because Medicare and Medicaid are the cause of the problem.
Rome wasn’t built in a day, and it’ll take more than one bill to fix everything that’s wrong with our system–but at least this bill is actually addressing the ultimate cause of the problem by getting people off of Medicaid. I didn’t think that was possible. I thought it was pie in the sky stuff. Third rail of politics! Then the House passed it. Now it’s in the Senate. Giving subsidies to get 11 million former Medicaid recipients off of Medicaid is just the first step–but it’s a necessary step.
These other things people talk about, like a lack of portability across state lines, a lack of transparency on prices, being forced to buy policies that cover things you don’t need, etc., etc. all these things are a natural consequence of reimbursing providers for less than cost for the 60-70% of the system that’s Medicare and Medicaid. Once you decide to give 70% of the store away for less than cost, all your other decisions are pretty much made for you. We can’t change those things we don’t like without stopping giving 60-70% of the store away for less than cost.
That’s why what happened in Venezuela was predictable. Once you start giving away “free” stuff, there are predictable consequences. Everyone who tries it has the same experience. The solution to Venezuela’s problems isn’t making the line for groceries smaller. That’s just a symptom. The disease is giving away “free” stuff. Market forces are hard at work regardless of whether we acknowledge them.
P.S. I think one of the reasons the Republicans have been so bad at selling this plan is because if they said what they were really doing, it would make a lot of voters mad.
Sometimes a little girl will come into the ER, and she’s stopped breathing, her heart isn’t working, etc. Cutting her chest open, cracking her ribs apart, and giving her open heart massage may not be a popular move–but if that’s what needs to be done to save the patient, then that’s what we should do.
“3) It means millions fewer people will be insured according to the CBO.”
Rand Paul should be better than that. All of the people that will ‘lose insurance’ are people who will not participate due to the end of the individual mandate (73% of those that will ‘lose insurance’) and people who will no longer qualify for Medicaid.
Rand is starting to sound like he could write for Reason
Check the post below. He seems to have come around!
*fingers crossed*
That is it exactly. How many of us had insurance in our 20’s if it was not covered by an employer? I didn’t start buying catastrophic plans until my 40’s. No longer allowed.

Just another Tuesday in the River City!
“The University of California, Berkeley will soon add “laser hair removal” and “fertility preservation” to the list of “transgender student services” covered by its student health insurance plan.
According to The Daily Californian, the two new services will be officially added on August 1, complementing existing services for transgender students that are already covered, including “gender confirmation (reassignment) surgery,” “breast augmentation (MTF top surgery),” “female to male top surgery,” “hormone therapy,” and more.”
http://www.campusreform.org/?ID=9469
I wonder is the cover cisgender boob jobs? Because if someone gets her degree in Underwater Latinx Puppetry, she might need to get a job at Hooters.
Then they wonder why costs blaze out of control.
It’s because there isn’t enough student financial assistance.
Typically, no. A woman that wants to get breast augmentation because she’ll think it will make her look better has to pay out of pocket. If the procedure is deemed to have reconstructive or therapeutic purposes such as after a mastectomy or for gender reassignment, the insurance company (may) pick up the tab. The cisshitlords are out of luck.
Fertility preservation – freezing sperm or eggs?
I was just coming to post the same question.
I’m familiar with the concept in regards to cancer treatments, I assume that it covers the same techniques for gender reassignment. Except for the gonadal shielding, kind of hard to square that with gonadal removal.
They can do whatever they want, as long as they pay for it.
Spoiler alert.
I wouldn’t mind a free lasering of my taint.
It would be a real timesaver.
For the record, I had the Berkeley student health plan. It was $150/semester. I don’t know what it costs now, but you can be sure that the taxpayers are paying for most of it.

Tulsi Gabbard …..
http://www.barstoolsports.com/barstoolu/barstool-u-tuesday-morning-smokeshow-kristin-from-towson-2
…. or college girl
What’s Gabbard’s email? I want to show her something.
Is this actually a contest?
The correct answer is Tulsi Gabbard. Her turn-ons include ‘not supporting endless war’, ‘having American soldiers not lose their lives and limbs for the Weekly Standard’s latest crusade’, and ‘long walks on the beach’
Tulsi represents foreign policy that the progressive Left should support, but doesn’t. She’s the only winnable candidate the Dems have in 2020 IMO, I hope she doesn’t become one for different reasons, but I’d vote for her if she was my congresswoman.
Gabbard and Jim Webb should have been in the Trump administration if he was serious about instituting a non-interventionist foreign policy. Probably the last of the anti-war left
I think that Trump’s going to go for a realist foreign policy that’s kind of a stepping stone to, but not exactly, a non-interventionist foreign policy. Certainly in a better direction than Bush or Obama, that’s for sure.
Ending the CIA program arming the Syrian opposition was a good step. We’ll see where this goes. Right now the Mises Institute is looking a little more sane after they fully embraced Trump due to his perceived non-interventionism
If you want more info email me at our google hide and I can provide it to you.
Wait, that comment below goes above.
My comment for here is Tulsi has no chance besides checking off two Dems blocks (XX and non-white) because she is from Hawaii. There is no money to be made from a state with 4 electoral votes that has been almost uniformly Dem since statehood in 1959. (exceptions Nixon 1972 and RR 1984)
I would have considered voting for Jim Webb, of course his positions were the reason he had no chance.
College girl has got the stripper spine defect.
Tulsi Gabbard
Tulsi is (probably) smarter and more capable. She’s an anti-war veteran; unfortunately, she’s also a watermelon and doesn’t understand economics. College girl’s political positions can’t be ascertained at this juncture. However she’s at Towson and a young woman so, statistically, she’s probably a casual prog that doesn’t spend much time thinking about it.
But the parameters of this contest are defined by our perception of the subject’s secondary sexual characteristics and their physiologic effect thereof. Therefore, college girl.
I’m able to make a coalition with Tulsi about an important subject. That’s more than I can say for 99% of progs.
She’ll still melt your guns down and make you pay for it with 80% taxes.
Is it (((Tuesday))) already? OMWC always loves my suggestions, so here is an inspiring story about Jewish farmers making the desert bloom. But this time they aren’t doing anything so simple as growing crops in the Eastern Mediterranean:
“A new generation of Jewish farmers sees a fertile future in South Jersey
“The unexceptional-looking expanse of sandy soil lies in the heart of America’s first Jewish agricultural settlement, a hamlet just off Route 55 near Vineland that Russian immigrants fleeing persecution founded as the Alliance Colony in 1882.
“More recently, William and Malya Levin, a Brooklyn couple with New Jersey roots and big dreams, have begun to nurture 50 acres along Gershal Avenue in Pittsgrove Township back to productive life….
““Jewish farming is not just touchy-feely hippie B.S.,” says William, a 45-year-old animator who grew up in Vineland. His great-grandfather Moses Bayuk was a member of one of the 43 original Alliance families.
““Farming is a way to create a meaningful, modern-day community,” says Malya, 33, ACRe’s chief counsel and the mother of the couple’s 21-month-old son, Samuel.
““There’s a global movement around agriculture as an expression of Jewish values.””
I like gardening too.

Video 2
http://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2017/07/25/rand-paul-health-care-wolf-sot.cnn
Rand Paul appears to have come around, and he voted earlier today to open the clear the bill for debate. They needed his 50th vote to bring the Vice President to break the tie.
There are two things going on.
1) They appear to have split the repeal and the replacement into two different votes–just like Rand Paul wanted.
2) Rand Paul is saying that talking to Trump and McConnell, if the version they’re talking about to him are actually the one that comes up for a vote, he sounds like he’ll vote for it.
The situation has come to the point where Rand Paul really is the deciding vote–as to whether we’ll cut Medicaid eligibility, repeal the employer mandate, and repeal the individual mandate.
If I can’t count on him to vote for those things when he has the opportunity, then I’d rather vote for an establishment Republican or Tea Party guy who will vote to cut Medicaid. The reason I’ve supported Rand Paul in the past is precisely because I thought I could trust him to vote to cut Medicaid–although I never really thought we’d get the chance.
If Rand Paul does the right thing, and the bill is even better than it would have been otherwise because he vocally opposed it on TV and in private–but he did the right thing when it came down to actually voting, then he’s a real leader–and I may even volunteer to work on his campaign.
It really isn’t about personality with me though. It’s all about policy. Medicaid is an excellent example of socialism and the harm it does, and by cutting some 11 million people off the program, we have a rare opportunity to show people what the private system can do. If Rand Paul is the deciding vote to roll back such a huge socialist entitlement, I’ll think he’s the greatest thing ever.
I would guess he’s more likely to vote for the Senate reforms–for purely political reasons. Now that his is the deciding vote, there won’t be any doubt about why the repeal and/or replace fails in the minds of Republican primary voters, and Rand Paul can shred his presidential hopes for the next two presidential elections if he’s the reason we end up with ObamaCare forever.
Maybe I’m misunderstanding this, but what you’ve said sounds like “Rand Paul’s obstinance has gotten us a better bill”. That’s great.
Yeah, well, that’s assuming his being obstinate hasn’t killed the bill.
If that’s what he’s done, then I’m all for it. Good for him!
Before today, it didn’t look like there would be a vote. And the only reason there is a vote is because Rand Paul voted to have one.
As of the day before yesterday, Video 1 makes it sound like Rand Paul was planning to vote against having a vote.
They split the bill in two, and he says he’s been privy to conversations with McConnell and President that would make him lean towards voting for it.
We’ll see.
I hate everyone and everything. New bullshit from the move: We have to pay a pet application fee (not just a deposit) and get pet liability insurance. WTF? Our dog is a 10 yr old Papillon that weighs 8 lbs and is missing half his teeth. The liability risk is zero. Papillons are the sweetest dogs on earth and even if the little fleabag went Cujo there is pretty much no chance he could break the skin even if you stuck your hand in his mouth and held it there. But nooooooo we get to pay fucking pet insurance now. Awesome!
Ive always assumed i will one day have to break in to the Animal shelter one day and steal my dog back after she gets picked up for no registration. Though they arent hardcore about it here i dont think.
Can anyone make sense of this?

Because I am an attention whore – reposting from yesterday:
For the movie fans out there – IF you live in Charlottesville, Santa Fe or Austin – you’ve got to check out the special “Summer in Paris” program through Violet Crown cinemas next month.
8 movies – Alphaville, Classe Tous Risques, Delicatessen, Le Samourai, Eyes Without a Face, Diva, Obscure Object of Desire, and Panique. Two movies a week – two screenings of each of those every week. $9/ticket or $36 for all 8.
Hot damn, bought a full set of tickets and reserved my seats for each film in the series yesterday afternoon. I’ve got 5 of those films already (the other 3 will be new for me) – I’d almost be willing to pay $36 to see something like Le Samourai large screen – but for all 8 – remastered, large screen, in a theater that lets me get a couple beers and snacks while I watch. Hell to the yes!

BBC Sport Short Headline: “Brain disease ‘hits 99% of NFL players.'”
Link to BBC News story. Actual headline: “Brain disease affects 99% of NFL players in study”
Opening para includes that 110 of 111 tested NFL players tested positive to CTE.
Read a little further and you find: “There’s a tremendous selection bias,” [the director of the study] said, explaining how many of the brains were donated specifically by families who had suspected that their loved ones were suffering from CTE, which researchers believe is caused by repeated blows to the head.”
Now the numbers are still really worrying, but it’s disappointing to see the BBC act like tabloid.
It’s not surprising from the BBC, however.
Heh, the BBC jumps at any opportunity to smack down purely American sports
Maybe we should get together and hate sports the bbc likes.
Impotent whining about the US isn’t really a sport…
Don’t worry. ESPN jumped on it too.
Yeah, they were just talking about it on the radio. CTE may be a real problem, but holy fuck, let’s not game the results. What do they think – that they are studying climate change?
CTE is a serious problem and the numbers speak for themselves. Lying about it can only hurt the cause.
It reminds me of what I end up telling my warming alarmist friends: If the problem is so serious, why do you have to lie about it?
Because they don’t actually care about the problem. They care about their virtue signaling.
Yep, we have a winner. My response to climate change too: it could be a problem but no one seriously believes the ocean is going to roll up to the Appalachians.
I listen to the Big Picture Science podcast which is run by Seth Shostak. They did an ep on scientific accuracy in s-f movies. It was pretty interesting and they criticized a number of movies for having scenes that were really bad. But then they got to “The Day After Tomorrow,” and Shostak noted that the whole climate sequence was wrong but, it was excusable because the cause was so important.
If I were the Koch Bros dark money guy tasked with undermining the Climate Change movement, I don’t think I could do much better than Al Gore.
The Day After Tomorrow literally has a scene where the characters have to outrun the cold like it’s some kind of villain. If Emmerich were smart he would’ve just made every dumb movie after that climate based.
This.
I have no desire to dive into the gw stuff and form my own opinion on it. But when i do at some point i will already be pretty skeptical of that side because of the lies that they have already been busted on
The thing about the global warming freak out is this. You have to prove several things to me before I’m willing to entertain your “solutions”
1. Prove the earth is warming. Right now, we have seen that a huge huge huge part of their “proof” is computer models. Computer models are not proof.
2. Prove to me that warming is caused by human CO2 emissions and isn’t part of the natural warming and cooling trend of the planet. Because last I checked, natural greenhouse gas emissions were of a greater volume than human emissions.
3. Prove to me that this warming, being caused by humans, is actually a net harm to human beings.
4. Prove to me that this net harm, caused by anthropogenic global warming, is best addressed by a coercive governmental framework and not by the free market.
5. Prove to me that said coercive governmental framework is going to be a net benefit, and not a cure worse than the disease the way that, oh, every other big government program has proven to be.
You forgot number 6) Explain to me why all historical temperature data “adjustments” erase warm periods in the historical record that have been accepted for decades as settled science.
Thats exactly how i would put it.
For point 1) I think that it is fairly obvious that the planet is warmer today than it was, say, 20k years ago. It’s called the Holocene and it happens every 150k years or so.
For 2) the numbers that I’ve heard are 4% human and 96% natural causes. There is an engineering term for values that are less than 10% of the total; noise.
The rest are spot-on.

“Ryan’s claim contains an element of truth but ignores a lot of what the CBO said.
We rate this claim Mostly False.”
I ignore everything the CBO says. Especially when they start projecting numbers over long time periods based on “assumptions” pulled directly out of some politician’s ass.
I’m sympathetic to the CBO since most of the time, the politicians tell them how to limit their study.
I very sympathetically ignore everything the CBO says.
Man the proggies sure are crying a lot over a motion. I don’t understand how they continue to pretend like Obamacare isn’t a giant piece of shit.
Because the ‘solution’ to Obamacare isn’t to repeal it, it’s to prog harder and get public healthcare. “It doesn’t go far enough” will remain the only criticism of Obamacare until that goal is achieved.
‘It doesn’t go far enough’ might as well be the new slogan for the DNC. It works with healthcare, gun control, climate change, and every other bullshit cause they throw their weight behind.
“It doesn’t go far enough” seems to be the same logic behind certain libertarian commentators about Obamacare’s replacement. Ironically, these are the same people who wagged their fingers at other libertarians who said that Johnson was too much of a watered down moderate.
As long as the watered down moderate is only watered down in policy positions that can’t be used to virtue signal to your statist friends and cultural group, it’s fine.
It *doesn’t* go far enough. It rearranges the deck chairs, but that’s about it.
Well, the only difference being the political will required to do something purely ideological doesn’t seem to exist in the R party. So, from my standpoint, this isn’t the first salvo in a decade long push to free up healthcare markets, this is once in a generation event that we aren’t going to be able to get back to again before it is firmly entrenched and third-railed.
I mean, SS, medicare, medicaid ffs, these things don’t ever go away once they are allowed to take root.

F*ck all you compromisers!!
A lot of people wishing death on John McCain. They’re good people.
Mostly from the party of inclusion and tolerance?
Crazy isnt it. Do people not keep their evil thoughts to themselves anymore?
No. We post them here.
Trump served as a catalyst that obliterated the illusion of civilization. Masks and personas were ripped off to expose the innermost true identities of many people. And they ain’t pretty.
For cynics like me who think we’re all half-evolved apes with nuclear weapons and active mental issues, it’s been the Year of “I Told You So”.
I thought a little better of mankind as a whole. But not anymore
I don’t think it was just Trump, though. The hard left was on this crazy train even before Trump. They were taking delight in the prospect of hurting white people, or men, or whoever wasn’t in their little tribe. They’ve been on this route for awhile. They were delighting in their hatred and, for lack of a better word, evil. For a long time the “respectable” left just told the rest of us “Well, we’re not all like that” while tittering away when the hard left voiced these sentiments.
Trump getting elected did two things. It forced the “respectable” left to drop their masks and openly side with the hatred and evil. At the same time, it got a lot of people on the right to realize that they didn’t have to play by the Marquess of Queensberry rules.
Trump is a catalyst, not the exact cause. The left was partially curbed when they thought they were winning and their victory was inevitable. It’s when the challenge to them (also present in things like Gamergate or Sad Puppies), the possibility of losing, and actually losing occurs that they go full ballistic.
That’s why Trump’s the perfect president for this moment in time. He represents an awakening of sorts for the nu-right, a new model of campaigning and governing that doesn’t have to involve capitulating to decorum or the left.
Will the nu-right suck as bad as nu-metal did?
I was thinking today how you have a lot of atheists and men in the Sargon sort of mold who were leftist but it appears to me recently moved right. That bloc of people who’s beliefs are similar is likely pretty large. I’m not sure what to make of that but it will be interesting to see if the left can get them back or the continue on a path of insanity.
I don’t think they necessarily moved right, but the democrats moved left.
I try to.

Either that or DWS gets busted trying to break into holding at 2 AM with a gag and vial of arsenic.
Low level employee? Check Sounds like he’s Amish? Check
This guy and only this guy goes to prison.
Unless he sings like a windup music box and a mainstream outlet with balls gets ahold of it.
I wish little Tommy Massie (who is my age, but looks like he’s 12) were my Congress Creature.
None of the major news outlets are covering this story
My local Fox station broke the news. It’ll probably be on FNN at some point.
Didn’t he get paid 160K per year? Must be good at IT!
Has any major (read – leftwing) media outlet even covered this story?
Nope…they are DNC sycophants
Of course they’ll cover it, as soon as Trump Tweets about it or Limbaugh mentions it on air. Then it will be “Trump, right-wingers seek to exploit fake scandal.”
Turns out that Congresspersons are willing to spend your money like a drunken sailor, but not theirs. How surprising.
Blockquote fail. Serves me right for doing on mobile.
Most interesting part is the zomg evil republicans apparently pay their interns better than their dems.
In Dem world you don’t get paid for working, you get paid for bitching loudest. Interns don’t rock the boat.
I hear Bernie even provides them with a complimentary copy of the Post

Speaking of good guffaws, I must give you credit for your reply to (I can’t remember which Reason staffer you replied to) about them courting articles from former Vice writers.

I think the bubble they love in is probably created by their hostility. A lot of democrats seem to think they don’t know anyone who likes Trump, when it’s likely anyone who likes Trump just doesn’t mention it around them because they’re such fanatics.
Wiltshire England police dig in their heels on the hate speech threats (linked earlier in the day) and threaten those who responded to the first post. The responses are pretty good.
https://twitter.com/wiltshirepolice/status/889903731256512513
My Googling didn’t find a news story – is there a summary?
1. They had a show last night called #999WhatsYourEmergency, which was supposedly an inside look at your local police force, or… whatever.
2. They focused on “hate crimes”, or what the UK says is a hate crime, which is people saying mean things.
3. They tweeted this: https://twitter.com/wiltshirepolice/status/889585359297945602
4. They received a torrent of HATE SPEECH as a result.
5. You’re all under arrest
OT: I finally listened to BBC 5 Live Sport’s podcast, “Hillsborough: the Truth.” Recommended.
If you’ve never seen it, watch ESPN’s 30 for 30 Soccer Stories (I think that’s how they styled it) on Hillsborough. It’s tough to get through but it’s amazing to watch.
Also, if you can get your hands on it, Jimmy McGovern’s 1996 film on Hillsborough.
The latter of which led to this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIa3u7NfPkM
Thanks. The BBC podcast 2016 or maybe 2015. I knew about the doctoring or reports but I didn’t realize the cops did criminal background checks on all the victims that same evening. Duckenfeld needs to go away for a long time.
Saw that. I didn’t know anything about the incident and just started watching it while channel surfing. Fascinating. Seems that justice is finally coming ’round.
I’ve been watching a few clips on youtube. And the cops had the “gate broke, people without tickets raced in” story out while people were still dying. Unreal.
Even I found that 30 For 30 heartbreaking, and I despise soccer.
The responses give me some hope for Britain.
Buggeration! Beat me to it by a mile!
Gals in blue? I am so triggered right now.
Nigel Farage is sensitive material on Twitter.
https://www.city-journal.org/html/marriage-matters-15362.html
“The problem with the progressive approach to poverty is that it denies the importance of culture and character to household prosperity—especially when it comes to marriage. This isn’t to say that a tough job market and bad public policy are irrelevant to explaining why some millennials are in poverty, but life choices substantially affect the odds of ending up poor.”
I think one of the oddest things about the Progressives especially the ones that are white, is that they always argue that single parenthood in the urban areas isn’t that big of a deal and if you do make a big deal out of it, you’re a fucking racist. The cynical part of me thinks that they eschew marriage in the urban cultures because it would help the poor become less dependent on the government and give their children a decent head start in life. And we can’t fucking have that because without victims, who the fuck gives a shit about their bullshit doctrine.
I think their thought process is this:
Bad things happened in the past.
The past had a similar culture. (Reverence for marriage, religion, whatever.)
Therefore overturning all cultural norms of the past will prevent bad things from happening.
So let me get this straight with the left here:
The past 6 months til 1 week ago: McCain was very brave and a noble person….now he needs to die?
The past 6 months til 1 week ago: Sessions was a racist in the KKK basically who was colluding with Russian Ambassador, now he is honest and full of integrity.
It must be hell to be a prog with all the mental anguish!
McCain is now literally hitler for voting to debate…(even though he said he wouldn’t vote on the BCRA, ignore that!)
In a way it must be liberating to not feel the need for any measure of intellectual consistency. You could argue all kinds of crazy shit.
We’ve Alway Been At War With Eastasi
You help the cause, you’re our friend. You hurt the cause, you’re our enemy and a RACIST! Principals, not principles.
I’m not sure how instances of The Party suddenly lionizing or demonizing an individual based on political situation of the day makes the case for The Party valuing particular individuals over policy positions.
Same way Comey was a horrible person for costing Felonia von Pantsuit the election, until a few months later when he became a brave, noble public servant for being fired by Trump.
Wiltshire cops double down on the retardation.

Cell phones: http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread692033/pg1
I can’t exactly link to a source on this, but I seem to believe that people in different locations might have noticed this. What I’ve noticed, is that a large percentage of women in my area have been carrying their cell phone in their bra.
My god, you mean he moved to the boonies?
That is nasty.
Also, how is there room for a cell phone in there? Who are these women who are all wearing the wrong size?
I remember it being way more common when flip phones were still a thing and smartphones hadn’t started evolving back into brick yet.
I don’t know, whiskey tango be whiskey tango and all that.
My ex wears bras that are too large. … At least seems that way to me. But she was one of those girls that knew she was cute, but didn’t quite seem to grasp just how hot she really is. *le sigh*
It’s a good thing I keep a massive amount of fat and muscle between my cell phone and my balls.
Is my near-constant fapping a factor?
No, but you’ll get tennis elbow and delayed ejaculation that way.
That has not been my experience. I can get one off before the coffee is done.

I’d like to ask our Canadian friends a question.
Why, when I’m in Canada (Toronto) and flipping through the entire FM dial in my rental car, does every goddamned broadcast sound like a Christian rock station? Where in hell is the black peoples’ music? Or just… something with a little edge to it?
Where in hell is the black peoples’ music?
I’m sure one of seven Classic Rock stations will eventually play a Michael Jackson song if you persevere.
Or just… something with a little edge to it?
Try finding a uni radio station? Can’t help beyond that.
“I’m sure one of seven Classic Rock stations will eventually play a Michael Jackson song if you persevere.”
No, he said *black* music.
In Canada, Michael Jackson is still black. Because that’s how far behind we are.
I think you’re giving us too much credit if we’re still living in the glory days of 1985.
Earlier, since Trudeau stepped down as PM in 1984…
does every goddamned broadcast sound like a Christian rock station?
What the hell stations are you listening to? It’s mostly just classic rock and shitty pop.
Where in hell is the black peoples’ music?
Back in the country that isn’t 2% black people.
That was the wrong answer.
I would have linked to something like this instead.
Oh yeah, one hit wonder Canadian Vanilla Ice, how could I forget.
Canada, where even our black people are white. (-‸ლ)
does every goddamned broadcast sound like a Christian rock station?

The ones that all sound like classic rock and shitty pop. Aka, Christian rock.
I also found something else interesting. After a long, 18 hour day in a server room, I like to unwind by watching a little TV in my hotel room. Now, I’m not going to play up the cultural greatness of American TV, but I noticed that most of the Canadian ‘shows’ (what I presume to be serials, cop shows, legal dramas etc) were incredibly bland. Good looking people, doing ‘important stuff’ with very flat acting. Occasionally I’d come across something with a little flavor to it and I’d realize it was an American show. With one exception, I found the French programming to be very compelling. I found myself watching French television several times during my stay, and every show or movie was full of ‘probability and human emotion’.
I’m jsut competent enough to pick out a few French words and with context, could get a general idea of what was going on. But I literally found myself preferring to watch stuff in a completely foreign language, struggling to follow the plot, instead of the stuff in English…
Canadian TV is hit and miss, sadly. Sometimes it’s good (Kids in the Hall, Degrassi, ReBoot (shut up!), Red Green* and my absolute “THIS was fucking made in goddamn Canada?!” favorite, Trailer Park Boys), but usually it’s bland, mildly self-important pap. Shit, Little Mosque on the Prairie was at least shameless in its agitprop aspect.
*pre-CBC years
CBC went from running programs that were all about how tv producers were human garbage and news broadcasters, including themselves, were immoral lying bastards, to pure propaganda in a decade and a half.
Definition, although I believe that was CTV.
The ones that all sound like classic rock and shitty pop. Aka, Christian rock.
Ah, so you don’t actually know what the true horror of Christian rock is.
Meh, Canadian TV’s been mostly downhill since the early 2000s. Too much trying to ape American stuff. There’s the few gems of stuff like Trailer Park Boys and Letterkenny but most of its mass produced crap.
I did catch a frickin’ hilarious segment on Much Music (I think that’s a canadian channel) called “Drunk History”. But then I started googling it and it seems to be something that originated on Comedy Central– possibly imported from England.
Fuse was a good channel that originated in Canada IIRC.
Letterkenny earned them at least a years worth of good behavior.
There used to be more black people in Canada
Spotify.
The CBC doesn’t play any classical music?
(Then again, there aren’t Canadian composers. It would just be overrated Glenn Gould 24/7.)
Where in hell is the black peoples’ music?
You’re in Canada, dipshit. ; )
My question for Canadians is this:
Why in Vancouver do they broadcast Blue Jays games and not Mariners games? Are you people so jingoistic you can only root for a team that is within your sovereign borders?
No, we bandwaggoned onto Seahawks pretty hard when they were headed to Super Bowl the first time. It was hilarious, one year no one gives a fuck about NFL, the next, green-blue shirts everywhere.
I’d guess, combination Canadian Content requirements, and the fact that you can get Mariners on US channels easily enough?
They do have a Canadian punter.
Some people on these boards were speculating that Trump was throwing more shiny objects about Sessions as a distraction tool. This might be one of those things, since we all know how the MSM loves sanctuary cities at the moment.
Also the healthcare vote (even if it was to debate only)
Well, this is juicy:
Imran Awan, the Pakistani IT guy who was servicing the Dems in Congress with several of his family members (who fled the country awhile ago), was just arrested at Dulles (on his way to flee the country as well). Is still on the House payroll. This is the investigation that Debbie Wasserman-Schultz publicly threatened the DC police chief over. Oh, and this past weekend several smashed hard drives were seized at his house. Nothing suspicious there.
He was just now terminated lol
According to Politico, I beleive, they paid Mr Arwan and his associates 4 million clams over the past few years. That is some spendy “advice”.
Please do not use DWS and “clam” in the same sentence. Unless you are Sugar Free.
“…he became deceased.”
“publicly threatened the DC police chief over”
IIRC, that was the Capitol Police, which is a federal agency and has jurisdiction primarily over the US Capitol. That is a different agency from the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department, an agency of the DC city government.
Cops search dead chick’s house.
What the fuck are they up to?
So, a car was slapped, a female became deceased. Got it.
Is it normal to search the residence of a murder victim?
I’d assume it’s normal to search the residence when it’s a crime scene, but I’d also guess the po-po are looking for something different here.
She was probably on PCP. Broke every bone in her hand.
After that, it is unknown to BCA agents what exactly happened, but the female became deceased in the alley, approximately 10 to 20 feet north of 51st St.” after being shot by responding officer Mohamed Noor, a passenger in the squad.
That may be the most strangely worded sentence I’ve read this year.
There’s a strange poetry to it.
Not as much as the leaked audio from Noor’s squad car radio:
0% Haram! Absolutely Halal!
Mašala!
The hottest BDSM video I’ve seen in a long while.
Man, the Glibertarian Theatre Troupe is doing good work.
Would watch gritty, 2 hour movie version directed by Ken Loach.
If the body was 10 to 20 feet (that’s quite a range there dipshits) from the street, how in the hell did she slap the back of the car, presuming it was not itself in the alley but on 51st street?
“”the female became deceased “”
‘She died’
Is it normal to search the residence of a murder victim?
Sure, if you’re trying to find the killer. According to the way the article was written, it’s clear they have no idea how she died.
They were throwing a hail mary hoping to Allah that they found anything they could use to smear the dead woman so that they don’t get crucified. Sounds like they came up empty.
It can’t be said enough. NEVER call the police. And I don’t buy the “slapping” claim.
If only their cameras were on per regulations their story would have been supported by video and audio evidence, and paranoid folks like you would maybe be appeased.
/sarc
On the slapping: the only thing I can think of was they had driven past her and she slapped on the car to get their attention.
Mission accomplished, then.
Maybe she had some cool stuff. Or they were looking for porn…
BCA also filed a search warrant for Noor’s residence & workplace as part the investigation, right? Hah hah.
They keep referring to Officer Mohamed Noor as a Somali-American. He came to the United States at a young age, but I gather he was born in Somalia.
It’s kind of an odd story because, on the one hand, I don’t think most of the news outlets want to make a big deal about him having been a refugee or an immigrant or a Muslim, but on the other hand, the story is interesting because he’s Somali, a refugee or an immigrant, and a Muslim.
It makes a lot of sense to have Somalis on Minneapolis’ police force, what with their large Somali community. I’m sure SJWs would say that you can’t really police a community like that without someone who understands Somali culture. I guess we’re not supposed to talk about the flip side of that argument.
She has a different last name now according to the latest news reports.
No Jewsday Tuesday? Where am I supposed to express my casual Anti-Semitism now?
Literally the whole of Internet?
That’s what /pol/ is for idiot.
Wait about 10 minutes.
Casual anti- semitism will no longer be accepted. Only serious anti-semitism will be allowed.
Fun adventures in job searching:
Received an email invitation to complete a survey about a company’s recruiting process. This is the first I’ve heard from this company since I received a confirmation email from my application.
In May.
I suggested they go faster.
