Well, we almost have the house back in order after the Friday Night chaos. The dog has settled down now that she doesn’t have bacon-magic to bark at (BTW, he gave me a piece of silver as a souvenir, he now owes me 29 more). We’re down to only three house guests. I can actually read the news. And it ain’t pretty, much like me in my tighty-whities.
A couple dozen marginal guys attract hundreds of the press and counter-protesters. Mayor wets pants and tries to find loopholes in the First Amendment. This is getting all too predictable. I guess people really, really need bogeymen to give meaning to their dull and pitiful lives.
This sort of thing is becoming a daily event in England. My theory: they’re all driving on the wrong goddamn side of the street.
Mystery cleared up: drunk chick locked herself into a freezer. People still blame racism.
Speaking of Chicago news, this is the sort of thing that makes us the great city that we are. I’m sure that this was racism as well.
Is this going to be the next panic for the US? I hope nobody don die.
Some things are just too weird for description. Talk about schizophrenia!
And because I love all of you, I leave you with this musical selection:
First?
How do I miss all the fun stuff locally. I didn’t go downtown last night because it was a Duke/UVA football game (bicentennial, etc). The roller derby was fun though. Oh well – I’ll see if there’s any detritus today.
BTW – listening to a lot of livestreams lately – do we still have a working dischord channel?
We do and I am a regular there as well, it’s a fun show
And it ain’t pretty, much like me in my tighty-whities.
There’s a reason I don’t wear tighty-whities.
Because they’re all brown?
Uffda. Lose the negativity Ted. Don’t get down on a person’s underwear choices. Be the opposite of that. Be Up Tighty Whitey!
*narrows gaze*
And it ain’t pretty, much like me in my tighty-whities
Or, as some kids call it, “View from outside the van.”
Tag fail on quoted portion (italics, por favor?)
Someone else will have to drop the faerie in, I forgot how. In any case, “em” not “i”. No idea why that is.
How,does one do “bold” text, again?
The tag is <strong>
“strong”
Upstaged by some wiley limey…!
It’s for “emphasis” instead of “italics” and it’s because of blind people. Nobody knows how to italicize when they are reading, but they know how to emphasize- or at least that’s how it was explained to me.
It’s partially for blind people, but there’s a larger point. Ideally actual markup should be semantic, and its visual (or auditory) representation should be handled separately. This lets you present the same markup in different ways, including user-defined ways. And it also makes it easier to write programs that process markup based on its structure and meaning. Sorry for the extreme geekery…
How the upper classes “bonk”
Some wild tales of the old rumpy-pumpy from days of yore.
TCM is going to be running a Georges Feydeau movie this week (Hotel Paradiso, at 12:30 PM Thursday).
God, the UN is such a farce!
That’s go in to be my go to next time I beat my wife.
The Jews made me do it!
Is there anything they can’t do… dunno, it sometimes seems like anti-semites are implying that the Jews are something of a master race.
HOLY FUCKEN SHIT. Did that asshole around the 2.50 mark say what I thought he did?
Man….fuck that piece of shit.
Hooookayyyyy, wow.
Is no one going to talk about how fucking hot the Palestinian representative is?
I can’t tell if she’s thicc
When one looks in the Oxford English Dictionary for “DSL“, there is just a picture of her.
Good enough for me.
This is dry but enlightening.
Just remember, those assholes are paid a lot of money to do whatever the hell that is
Sorry, that was supposed to ba a reply to HM’s UN link

From the replies.
“This week I learned it’s apparently easier to get drugs from @McDonalds than one packet of #szechuansauce”
At least someone recognizes the absurdity of the whole thing.
I dragged my wife to 3 different McDonald’s yesterday and couldn’t score any either.
We’re all ridiculous, all of us!

Is that OMWC’s final form?
It could be worse: I could have gotten a cat butt.
He has yet to reveal his final form.
And that should worry us all.
It’s warty, isn’t it?
Nah, it’s cuz of racism and stuff
What is that? Khmer Rouge?
Yep. Documentation of dead by the Khmer Rouge themselves I’m pretty sure.
Hey, if you’re gonna make an omelette…
Hey I’m genuinely curious, what does it feel like to be a former commie? Is it like how I reflect on how silly I was as a 6-year-old getting Vanilla Ice lines shaved into the sides of my scalp?
It’s kind of worse than that. Dunno though- I started repenting of my Commie ways when I was about 14 or 15, so I can kind of chalk it up to being a kid, and being raised by and around some pretty hard-core commies. I’d be pretty mortified if I’d been a commie into my thirties.
Interesting, thanks.
Little late because I had some work to do, but I probably feel a lot better about it than others because I had the advantage of being one of those ‘actually kinda poor’ communists, as opposed to ‘edgy middle class teenagers’. Thomas Sowell used to talk about how he became a Marxist because he saw the contrast between Manhattan and where he lived, and Marxism gave him a worldview that explained that disparity. I read the Manifesto when I was seventeen and it gave me answers to questions I had about the state of society, and further reading just solidified those ideas. It was only after I diversified my reading more later on and actually accessed the problems more broadly that I realized the answers I was given were too simple (also I spent some time in legit socialist groups in university and realized how massively dysfunctional and out-of-touch the average modern socialist is).
TL;DR I see it more as getting conned than anything else. It can happen to the smartest people, you just need to accept that you fucked up/were wrong and move on.
Also FYI even as a communist I didn’t back the Khmer Rouge. I saw their agrarian idiocy to be a masturbatory callback to feudalism rather than any kind of legitimate movement towards the Worker’s Paradise. I leaned pretty heavily to the Trotskyite/Marxist Leninist position.
Yeah, tbh, I do kind of understand where some of my commie friends (and if you come from my background everyone you’ve known for a long time is a commie) are coming from. The world is pretty unfair, and commies start off wanting to make it more fair. The problem is that they tend to wind up with a lot of pictures like the above. Th world is inherently unfair, and attempts to make it fair never end well.
“it ends up looking like this”
Truth.
She sounds like the perfect politician. Identy politics is a terrible problem so we should solve it with more identity politics. How does she think that’s going to turn out?
Dead white guys.
That’s what you get for assuming someone’s gender, asshole!
He talks like a girl.
Yes. Radical social progress always seems to involve purges, work prisons and mass graves.
Give him a break.
He’s Sincere.
Why should I have to argue my point?
“I was in the 4th grade. I remember being in a classroom, joking with a friend (a white girl) and calling her a nincompoop. She looked to me, her smile melting into a look of contempt, and replied, “You’re wrong…you’re the nigger.”
I still remember the first time I was called a wop. We were out trick or treating and a French-Canadian man answered the door and asked, ‘Are you wops? I don’t give candies to wops’. I had no idea what he meant. I just remember watching the chocolate bar he was waving in his hand.
Good times.
Other than that, he can dismiss any criticism of intersectionality as being ‘ridiculous’ all he wants but he’s just going to accept it. I don’t think it’s ridiculous to argue.
The first time I heard the term Wop was from one of my Italian friends telling a joke.
The first time I heard the word Wop it was the High school football coach calling a kid with an Italian last name wop. The nickname stuck and the guy is known as Wop to this day.
I am in a Sim baseball league and in every spreadsheet I use Tommy La Stella is simply listed as “Dago”. I bet there are a few guys in my league that wouldn’t like it but I mean no harm and it’s just easier for me to type/use than the full name.
I don’t know why pathological liars seem to think I’m supposed to believe their stories about all the horrible racism they’ve experienced when they’re obviously making things up.
Damn this is frustrating, they get so close to figuring out the root cause, then miss it by this much

http://www.rawstory.com/2016/07/the-second-amendment-was-ratified-to-preserve-slavery/
Back assward!
Considering that slavery was abolished 152 years ago, his point is?
Guns are bad, m’kay.
Historical memory, yo. Therefore, it needs to be erased.
Even if it were true, Hartman is indulging in a genetic fallacy. The origins of the 2nd Amendment that led the authors of the Bill of Rights to compose it have no bearing on whether or not the rights they mention are valid.
….and the Democrats didn’t start attacking the second amendment until Blacks starting exercising their second amendment rights.
I opened the page and saw Thom Hartman and instantly knew it was a pack of lies and bullshit.
One paragraph in: “The real reason the Second Amendment was ratified, … was to preserve the slave patrol militias in the southern states, which was necessary to get Virginia’s vote. Founders Patrick Henry, George Mason, and James Madison were totally clear on that . . . and we all should be too.”
Well, lets just have a look.
“I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them.”
-George Mason
Huh. That doesnt seem to support Thom’s argument at all. Let me read it again…
That’s cool Thom. So then, Thom, you will be leading the crusade to repeal the 2nd amendment? And when it passes, all the guns will be under the control of SNP and his white supremacist followers? Somehow, Thom, I don’t think that’s what you intend.
The Scottish Nationalist Party?
My cousin (may he RIP) asked me years ago why I keep finding “good, honest girlfriends”.
I replied, ‘I don’t date women who cheat on their partners. If they’re doing it to them, they’re going to do it to you.’
I feel that way with progressives and the way they treat The Constitution. If they’re willing to cheat on it, they will cheat on you.
I guess people really, really need bogeymen to give meaning to their dull and pitiful lives.
If by “people” you mean “politicians and busybodies”. As always, Mencken comes through:
The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.l
One more for y’all,

Actually, I thought that essay wasn’t too bad, imo.
I’ll go back and re read it, then. My brain might have missed something.
Granted, the article opens with a pic of Cardi B, who is thicc af. (Also, AnCap shoutout at 2:33?) Regardless of that, the author is correct that the paradigms used to determine authentic “blackness” and “Latino-ness” stem from the bizarre fixations on racial taxonomy by the Spanish and Portuguese colonists, formulated 400 years ago and later adapted in lesser form by the French and English. This has led to the situation where if you call a Dominican “black”, it’s fighting words even though many of them look like this*.
*Seriously, bro. Do yourself a favor this weekend and by a plane ticket and a bottle of Viagra.
Fair point, I’m not fully caffeinated yet.
It’s pretty absurd to rely on any racial grouping much less racist constructs cobbled together 500+ years ago by some of history’s prime assholes
And speaking of Cardi B, she demonstrated a better understanding of Separation of Powers than both Hillary and Trump.
No, when I hear someone start talking about ‘our blackness’ they’ve already lost me. I barely got one paragraph in.
Every person is a unique individual solely responsible for their own behavior. There is no such thing as collective guilt or original sin and there is no ‘your blackness’. Go get an education and then a goddamned job. Get married and raise a family. Be a person not a ‘black body’.
That’s true. But it’s equally true that there is Black American culture(s), just as there is Latino culture(s) and White American culture(s). An individual should be free to participate in all three if they so wish without being called a cultural appropriator or a Wigger or what have you.
But not Asian culture, you fucking weeaboos.
Agreed. I am not discounting culture entirely just the idea of being obligated to one or forbidden from another. That kind of collectivist mentality is horribly corrosive.
Sure, if it’s a matter of liking Jazz, or wanting to conduct symphony orchestras, or cooking certain foods. But I was young during the peak of white suburban kids putting on ghetto costume and… I don’t think they were terrible cultural appropriators, but I did think they were pretty ridiculous.
It was “my blackness blacks my blackity black blackology. It eord salad from someone so far up their own ass they are incapable of seeing, thinking, or writing about anything but their own skin color. What redeeming value is in that navel gazing article?
It’s a mulatto thing, you wouldn’t understand.
Seriously, though. You’re definitely entitled to formulate your own opinion based on your reading of the article, but I don’t get how one could read an essay arguing that someone like Cardi B, who is half Afro-Trinidadian and half Dominican, shouldn’t have to choose between being Black and being Latina and characterize it as you did above. It’s like the exact opposite of what he wrote.
Your reading comprehension is poor if you think one sentence in the article equals the thesis of the article.
Summary:
Black Americans see themselves in ways blacks the world over do not. This is because blacks were separated by imperialism. Hurricanes prove black people the world over are oppressed because crackers only donate 5 billion instead of 20 billion dollars. Therefore we are united as blacks in oppression. We need to see ourselves as one team united by skin color and remember it’s these superficial characteristics that are important not culture.
It’s pretty much just a call for definitional racism supported by poor history and slanted facts.
That’s it, I’m identifying as Whiteyx from now on.
I read that as Whitesnake.
+1 Slide It In
Actually the entire human race is one big family. We’re all distant cousins. Somewhere along the way, we forgot that. DNA has been bringing that much more into focus recently. Perhaps a more enlightened view would be to reconnect as a species as opposed to getting together based on the amount of melanin we have in our skin. She also seems to ignore the tribalism in Africa pitting blacks against each other. That had nothing to do with evil Whitey. Her and Richard Spencer would get along great though.
Yeah, true, but… in the same sense it’s likely true that all life on earth is one big family if you follow the tree back far enough. That doesn’t make me pause before eating an oyster, just because we’re distantly related.
Now, I don’t mean that just because I am more closely related to other Europeans I should give them more consideration than I would anyone else. I do mean that, beyond very close relations I don’t think I should care very much about the degree of relatedness. The reasons I should or shouldn’t (likely shouldn’t, but I can’t claim to be perfect at that) treat other people like shit ought to have a basis in something more than the fact that we’re all pissing in the same gene pool.
I’m white as the driven snow, but I don’t consider myself to have much in common with white people from Russia other than skin tone. I consider this neither a good nor bad thing, because I don’t spend brain power on it at all.
There is such a remarkable difference between the financial and social achievements between black African immigrants and black Americans that should dispel the claims of grievance monsters that the truth should be self evident as to the differences.
Also, on the page with the Mencken quote, I found this:
Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies.
-Groucho Marx
Where’s Baked Penguin? I would like to commission a cultural appropriation poster boy.
I’m seeing, in my mind’s eye, a black man with a Fu Manchu moustache, wearing a Samurai’s turtle shell helmet, a Spanish conquistador’s tin breastplate, a kilt, and a pair of high-top moccasins, eating a big plate of spaghetti. With a Viking axe at his side.
That’s actually my outfit for tomorrow.
Nice. I only have the kilt.
But are you pressed enough to pull it off? Maybe you got just a bit to much privilege, have you thought of that?
*oppressed
Hmm…I must meditate upon this.
I hear this is the cover of the new Wu album actually
Speaking of hobgoblins…
Republicans have a number of reasons for wanting to avoid a fight with the NRA.
After the GOP’s failure to pass ObamaCare repeal or move forward with President Trump’s promise for a wall on the southern border, the GOP grassroots base has been up in arms with congressional Republicans.
Moving a gun-control bill will only further inflame the conservative base, which is already calling for primary challenges next year. And Republicans just lost one of their colleagues in Sen. Luther Strange (Ala.), who was defeated by conservative challenger Roy Moore in a primary.
If the NRA did not exist, it would be necessary to invent it.
Pay no attention to the millions of people who do not belong to the NRA but are perfectly willing to go to the polls and fire a Republican who stabs them in the back on gun rights.
What has to suck for the liberals is that they revealed themselves with cigarettes. Gun owners – bumpkins that we are – are smart enough to remember when smoking bans were just going to be on airplanes and were common sense.
Now we are being told by our betters to give up on bump stocks. I only learned about bump stocks after LV, but I’ll be fucked if I won’t howl about any proposed ban because I know what comes next. Fuck that. Fuck the NRA too. Pussies rolling over on this.
The dumb thing is that bump stocks are a non-issue. Does anyone really care if they’re legal or not, beyond a couple of youtubers? And honestly it’s not as if you couln’t rig up the equivalent yourself. But it’s the camel’s nose. Give on this one and you’ll find it more difficult to not give on the next one, which might be something people actually care about.
Exactly what I predicted a few days ago: GOP establishment are stupid, but are not stupid enough to anger their core, gun-carrying constituents just because the general hoi polloi are a little panicked right now. Also, Schumer and Pelosi are too smart to give yet another motive to vote out all of those red-state Democrats in the Senate.
Okay, one more

Clinton isnt going to be president. Ever. Trump is president and will most likely be re-elected. Get over it assholes.
I tried, but I could not read beyond the third paragraph.
Why the fuck do men still wear tighty whiteys? Get some briefs.
Tighty whiteys are the white men of of under wear.
Decades of gravity will pull the boys down a bit so I’ve come to appreciate tighty whiteys as I’ve gotten older.
Boxer briefs. Very comfortable.
Yep. Boxer briefs look stupid to me, but their comfort makes up for it. I just don’t wear them on the outside anymore.
That’s a good pro-tip. Hopefully you’ve changed someone’s life for the better.
I thought briefs == tighty-whiteys.
They are.
Not that amyone is asking my opinion but there are two aceptable circumstances:
1. You are 10 years old or less.
2. You are in basoc training.
What if you have heavy enough equipment that there is pain if said equipment is not supported?
Oh, never experienced that? Figures.
This is why I have a tripod at my desk.
I meant boxer briefs. I apologize for my slothful and neglectful knowledge of proper male underwear nomenclature.
Because boxers ride up my crack
See my reply above
Aren’t you too old to be getting wedgies?
Fuck that. I wear Duluth Trading Buck Naked underwear. Nothing but.
^ This guy gets it!
I just wear swim suits. When I need to do laundry, I jump in the ocean, or a swimming pool.
^WIN^
So. Is there a way to blame ‘entrenched whiteness’ on the black girl who (tragically…RIP) locked herself inside the freezer?
Over to you, because I know you’ll be….
/dons sunglasses….
Sincere.
Freezers are “white goods”.
Tampa Bay Lightning forward JT Brown was the first NHLer to raise his fist during the anthem because of ‘inequality in the United States’.
Says the guy earning around 20 times the average salary in North America.
https://www.capfriendly.com/players/jt-brown
/Raises fist.
First time I heard about that, I thought, “probably repping his fellow progs back home.” I was right: he’s from Minneapolis.
It’s interesting to watch the various professional sports leagues curbstomping their bottom line by not policing their player’s behavior at their events. I’d think NHL fans would tend to be almost as conservative as NASCAR people.
And Canadians would react the same way about the anthem. Canadians can be a rather touchy and uber-nationalistic bunch when it suits them.
It would be nice if someone could point out all the laws oppressing blacks in the US.
We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news.
Honest to God I cannot understand blacks voting democrat. It boggles my mind.
Public schools do their work well.
Their real work.
That wound be more convincing if the quote didn’t appear 13 years after he died with no evidence to support it.
Sounds a lot like libertarians support free association to oppress blacks.
Drug laws being meant to oppress blacks only makes sense if you believe blacks are uniquely drawn to heroin. Hell you might as well say speeding laws are designed to punish men since they are affected more. It’s doublethink when convenient to whatever narrative pushed.
I’m no statistician and I’m aware of the argument that it’s economic not racially motivated, but blacks are disproportionately harmed by the drug war, it may not be intentional but that isn’t going to assuage the resentment that a black guy doing time is going to hold for the white dude who got a slap on the wrist. I know racism isn’t the defining problem of our times as the grievance mongers assert, but It isn’t a relic of the past either. Perhaps north central Ohio is the last hot bed of racism in the country and my perception is skewed but I come across racism regularly from the casual old people who grew up in a different time, to the loudmouth redneck straight out of central casting.
I’ve noticed that it’s much worse – from all sides – in economically depressed areas, like Buffalo.
Here in NYC it’s barely noticeable, despite yammerings in the media.
Dunno- while I think a lot of the political rhetoric around blackness is pretty ridiculous, and not useful, there’s a terrible history there, and even if current law doesn’t oppress blacks, at least directly, it’s not as if the edit fairy can come in, wave a wand, and make the consequences of that history go away.
That history is the thing that most often makes me willing to compromise my principles. I can understand that some people might, while harboring no animus against blacks, think the civil rights laws of the early 60s wrong, on principle. I’m afraid I can’t agree. I do think it unfortunate that they led to a more general abrogation of those principles. Hard cases make bad law, I guess.
And this is the ultimate hard case in American law, and society. I’d like to see some reconciliation, indeed some reparation on this. But I do not see a good way forward at the moment, I’m afraid, other than letting time do its work.
even if current law doesn’t oppress blacks, at least directly
Yeah, I don’t do “disparate impact.” There’s a huge gap between literacy tests to vote and the laws of today. Barring some really freaking compelling evidence (i.e. not just conflating correlation with causation), I’m not buying the whole “current laws indirectly oppress blacks” premise.
it’s not as if the edit fairy can come in, wave a wand, and make the consequences of that history go away.
What if I told you that the consequences of that history were beginning to go away, even before the last vestiges of institutional racism were scrubbed from the legal code? What if I told you that the positive trend of black families wasn’t interrupted by a new racist law, but by a set of laws that are still highly touted even today?
Thesis in video form.
In article form: http://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/262726/how-liberal-welfare-state-destroyed-black-america-john-perazzo
I’d like to see some reconciliation, indeed some reparation on this.
Reconciliation happened, and then was undone by a welfare program. I, as a descendant of abolitionist northerners and 20th century Italian and Jewish immigrants, owe the descendants of slaves exactly nothing. Reparations are a non-starter and are about as anti-libertarian as it gets.
Well, I’m not a fan of “disparate impact” as a matter of law. At a certain point you want to have, say, some standards for people like fire-fighters, and you don’t want to compromise those standards just because African-Americans meet them less frequently than whites do. I’ve been in more than one fire, and in fact was literally thrown from a burning building and caught by a fireman as an infant. I know that sounds like something made-up, but it happened… at any rate I’m all in favor of maintaining standards, and disturbed at the way disparate impact law has eroded them.
That said, I think it’s worth asking why African-Americans do so poorly on things like fire-fighter tests. I’ve read a lot of opinion on the subject, and the only people who are willing to address the subject head-on (as opposed to arguing for laxer standards, ’cause racism) are the Steve Sailers of the world.
That’s unfortunate, I think, because I’m not at all convinced by Sailer’s argument (that blacks are generally just a bit less intelligent than whites, for genetic reasons, essentially.) Note that I’m willing to entertain his argument, but that I do not think he has made a persuasive case for it, nor do I think it has the explanatory power he argues for. Note, also, that because Sailer is addressing readily observable facts about American life that are taboo in polite circles many people will stumble across him, recognize that he’s wiling to violate taboos, and then buy into his entire world-view, without considering it closely. That you are willing to confront a big lie does not mean that what you say is true.
I don’t know if I’d call myself a libertarian- I’m not sure what that means, and I’m not much of joiner in the first place. I am an individualist, and I agree with your points. I didn’t own slaves, I didn’t have anything to do with Jim Crow, and I won’t accept any blame for things other people did. That said, I’ve lived, cause reasons, in some of the worst-off black neighborhoods in the US, and what I saw was… much of it was unbearable.
If I’m an individualist I must also consider others individuals. It is not entirely my responsibility to make sure they can do well, but I should at least be concerned when it is clear that they can’t, shouldn’t I? I don’t know how to go about fixing these things… every step forward seems like two steps back. But I cannot, much as I despise the BLM contingent, ignore reality.
Some of you may have heard about the 3 screeching harpies that have recently made a stink about a Dr. Seuss mural depicting a “Chinaman.” Washington Post and other outlets decided to cover the story before and after two Springfield, MA businessmen offered to buy the mural if the Dr. Suess museum decides to trash it. WaPo credits a MassLive.com article as the source material for their summary.
If one goes to the MassLive article and/or watches the press conference, they actually bother to quote businessman Andy Yee at his joint press conference with the Springfield mayor. Arguably, Andy Yee’s reaction below is the most important “counterpoint” to the 3 screeching childrens authors aggrieved by the mural.
Hmm, why would WaPo decide to withhold Andy Yee’s very substantial and important public comments, while his white associate is the only one they chose to quote as the “anti PC” contra-position? If one is charitable, then you could chalk it up to extremely lazy journalism.
No one is allowed to create national caricatures.
#NotAllBritsDrinkTea
Stupid gooks don’t know what’s offensive without white people telling them duh.
Gooks? I thought the mural depicted Chinks.
I don’t think Dr Seuss ever addressed the Vietnamese.
He hates Asians so much he can’t even be bothered to use the correct slur. Sad!
Next thing you know, he’ll be referring to those pancake-faced Filipinos as “Nips”.
Gooks (or slants) is a generic term for all east asians. Chinks is particular to China, nips to Japan, etc.
From the Racial Slur Database:
Slants I’ll give you. That’s a general Asian slur.
But gook, dink, slope and zip/zipper-head are almost exclusively used to denigrate our Vietnamese friends.
But honestly, who can tell them apart?
Wrong! Vietnamese are Gooks, period
I prefer Celestials myself, I think we can bring it back.
I work with someone who likes to refer to (((himself))) as a neo-Victorian dating a daughter of the Celestial Empire. I’m kind like… you’re a Jewish guy from Westchester dating a Chinese girl, but whatever floats your boat.
“Officials said they had found topiramate in her system that fell “within the appropriate prescribed levels” that are used to treat conditions like migraines. The medical examiner’s office, citing information from Ms. Jenkins’s family, said she had not been prescribed topiramate.”
Topamax can cause numerous side effects such as impaired memory and confusion. Doctors often call it “dopamax”.
It’s synergistic with alcohol too. It’s not surprising she ended up doing something stupid after she mixed the two, unfortunately for her the stupid thing she did killed her.
From our intellectual betters at Slate, some common sense. It’s only reasonable.
The 9/11 model suggests other measures. In retrospect, the 9/11 commission observed, the key to that plot’s success was training suicide operatives to fly big jets. Nobody was monitoring flight schools. Now we monitor them. Something like that could be done for guns. If you buy an arsenal like what the Vegas killer bought before his attack—12 bump stocks, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and 33 firearms in the course of a year—somebody should know about it. When a person with that kind of purchase record reserves a room overlooking a crowd of 20,000, law enforcement should be alerted.
What happened in Vegas won’t stay in Vegas. Bump stocks are already selling off the shelves. “The world has changed,” Las Vegas Sheriff Joseph Lombardo lamented at a press conference this week, as he marveled at the audacity of the attack. “Who would have ever imagined this situation?” That’s what we said after 9/11. But we changed to meet that challenge. We can meet this one, too.
What would that mean, in practice? Well, at the very minimum, we’d need a national gun registry. Preferably a national permit-to-buy and permit-to-own system, like New Jersey, say. All those paper background check forms (I forget the number) currently in a file cabinet at your local ffl would need to be forwarded to the ATF. That “gun show loophole” would have to go. Likewise, the Grandpa Guns would need background checks, in order to bring the uncounted millions of them into the database. In order to track ammo sales, we would, of course, need to record the buyer’s ID info at point of sale; a background check for ammo purchases like California’s would be better, and this would of course be cross referenced against the gun registry.
“Pardon me, Sir, but according to our records, you’re buying bullets for a weapon you don’t own Unless you are in violation of the reporting requirements, in which case we’ll need you to come with us. We will also need to conduct a search of the premises.”
und so weiter
But- anybody who says any of this is nuts, because they don’t really want to take our guns away, or establish some sort of readily available means to do so. They just want to protect our freedom- our RIGHT!- to always and everywhere be perfectly safe from harm, including any emotional discomfort which might arise from knowing there are guns out there in the hands of private citizens.
How many stupid articles can be written tha obsess over the amount of guns that asshole had? He could have unleashed just as much carnage if he had two guns instead of thirty two, or whatever number they are throwing out today.
The bump stock thing is dumb too. It might be the case that he was a bad enough shot, and the crowd was dense enough, that he was able to shoot more people with them than he would have otherwise been able to.
But, and I don’t mean this in a ghoulish way, despite the fact that I haven’t fired a rifle in years, and was never all that great a marksman, I think I could have killed more people than he did, under the circumstances, by aiming. Ok, that does sound ghoulish, but…
This was so bad because he had a perfect vantage point. He clearly thought this out, and honestly the only gun law that would have stopped it would have been an _effective_ ban on semi-automatic rifles. In which case he might have just built a bomb, which might have killed more people.
There’s probably no way to keep someone who wants to kill a lot of people from doing so. We’re too fragile, and it’s too easy. The only reason this doesn’t happen every day is that most people don’t want to kill lots of other people, and the people who do are generally kind of incompetent. This guy was the perfect storm of evil and competence. Gun laws wouldn’t have stopped him.
Ah, the 9 11 model. Terrorists hat us and try to kill us because of our freedom. Let’s give up our freedom in response.
Thus is how you let the terrorists win.
”
Americans are deeply split along demographic lines, but there aren’t many demographic characteristics that embody America’s cultural divide better than gun ownership.
In the wake of the mass shooting in Las Vegas on Sunday, the polling firm SurveyMonkey published a pair of maps from its 2016 presidential election exit polls. It showed the electoral maps for voters who said they had a gun in their home, and for those who said they did not.
In every state but Vermont – perhaps the most liberal state in the country, but one where many, including Bernie Sanders, support gun rights – voters who reported living in a gun-owning household overwhelmingly backed Donald J. Trump.
The opposite is true for voters who said they did not live in a home with a gun. In all but one state that could be measured, voters overwhelmingly preferred Hillary Clinton. (The exception was West Virginia; not enough data existed for Wyoming.)
Over all, gun-owning households (roughly a third in America) backed Mr. Trump by 63 percent to 31 percent, while households without guns backed Mrs. Clinton, 65 percent to 30 percent, according to SurveyMonkey data.
No other demographic characteristic created such a consistent geographic split.”
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/10/05/upshot/gun-ownership-partisan-divide.html
I doubt you can know the exact percent of households in the US with a gun
I know what it is in my neck of the woods.
100%
People don’t tend to vote for candidates who have a hard on for outlawing and confiscating a specific type of property they own? Whoda thunk it?
I do wonder from time to time if Vermont and New Hampshire would’ve been Trump states last year if Bernie Sanders didn’t exist. What I mean is that Bernie is his own brand of populism and his own cultural icon.
There is no way Vermont ever goes with Trump.
LOL I know, but I’m talking about the Bernie effect. What I’m saying is that I think that Bernie and progressivism in general is popular over there not so much because of the Socialism, but because the movement is sort of a cultural symbol for the area. When they actually tried to install single-payer, they reacted against it when they saw the bill, as you’d expect.
Essex county though….
Based on the signs and bumper stickers I saw, Bernie wasn’t too popular here in NH. As it was, Trump only lost NH by, what, 5,000 votes? Though it sounds cliche, I believe it really was the community of Masshole expats in Nashua and Manchester who were Ready for Hillary that did it. Think less Bernie and more Liz Warren.
If you look at the congressional districts, it seems like Manchester and the east side of New Hampshire is where the Trump base of NH was, while Nashua, Concord, and the west side of NH (the side closer to Vermont) was where Hillary’s base was (the margins in both districts were incredibly close, though, so support was pretty even in general). That why I wonder about the Bernie effect in NH.
Makes sense, though population density-wise, it’s more of a North/South thing. As with everything, it’s multivariate.
And lest we forget the voting requirements in NH are notoriously lax. Same day registration without any proof of residence leads to enough bullshit illegal voting to swing the state in 2016.
Especially since enough to swing it used an out of state license to register and still hadn’t applied for a NH license several months later.
That’s before we even get into people registering without ID by affirmation and saying they’re homeless.
http://www.wmur.com/article/new-voting-statistics-show-6540-people-registered-to-vote-in-nh-last-year-using-out-of-state-drivers-licenses-as-ids/12196129
Indeed. Case in point, they let me in the polls despite the fact that I reeked of alcohol, was nude, and I just masturbated in the voting booth.
So, just another Tuesday then?
I can’t help it if my polling place is the gym/lunchroom of my daughter’s elementary school. (Pictured in article above)
As a resident, what do you think about the same day registration? Does it lead to problems, as implied in the link I gave? Or is it just a simpler way to get more people toctge polls?
Also, in light of some undercover videos from the Veritas guys, do you think there might have been a concerted effort to bus people in to vote, swinging the Senate seat and possibly the electoral votes as well?
While I do see the benefits for a place like NH to have SDR (e.g., many residents are rural and live far from their polling places and in those areas they could already be snowbound late-Oct., early-Nov., etc.), I do believe it leads to the problems you mention. I would have no problem if we got rid of SDR, but some of the other solutions to voter fraud make me worry if the cure is worse than the disease. I don’t want voter fraud to be the bloody shirt that kills the last vestige of federalism by instituting a national ID.
I’m with you on not wanting a federal ID. But I’m also for making registration requirements more strict. They can be same day, but it’s gonna require a drivers license or a state ID. Those can be facilitated by opening pop-up DMVs at polling places on Election Day.
The whole thing was a clusterfuck of illegal voting that almost assuredly cost Ayotte the Senate seat based in the available data and the undercover video exposing Dem operatives. And that undermines our system.
Wish I had any fucks to give for Ayotte getting knocked out, but man have I hated slimy opportunist Hassan since she was one of my district reps back when she was a Wood-Hassan .
I grew up in northern NH and we were never snowbound. The closest would have been in ’69 when we got around 4′ in one storm, but that was cleared in a few days. (I was only 4 but my parents talked about it).
Not sure when SDR started, but a lot of NH rules are from the days when it was very rural and the town clerk would know if you lived there or not. These “old ways” may not work when you get a higher population density like downstate.
I agree that SDR needs to be more stringent, if not eliminated entirely. If voting is important to a new resident, the onus is on them to get the necessary ID to do so legally. Pretty infuriating that a bunch of people from MA may have swung elections here.
I don’t want voter fraud to be the bloody shirt that kills the last vestige of federalism by instituting a national ID.
REAL ID. NH has begun caving with their “You have an option of REAL ID compliant or not” bullshit.
I refused to get a REAL ID compliant driver’s license earlier this year when I renewed. I the state will fully cave by the time my next renewal comes up.
And lest we forget the voting requirements in NH are notoriously lax.
I had a Nashua election official turn me away from the polls a few years after I moved to New Hampshire.
I mistakenly went to the wrong polling place.
This was a year or two after a man claimed he voted six times in Nashua. Unfortunately, I can’t find the story, but what I remember of the story is guy claiming that he voted six times, and that one of his multiple votes involved going to the same poll worker twice.
Vermont wouldn’t have been. No way, not under any circumstances.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has promoted his sister Kim Yo-jong to the politburo – the nation’s top decision-making body.
The promotion, reported by North Korean state media, indicates that the 28-year-old has replaced Kim Jong-un’s aunt, Kim Kyong Hee, who was a key decision maker when former leader Kim Jong-il was alive.

So how hot would she have to be to be on the right side of hot/crazy?
She would have to be able to make you cum without touching you.
Not even if she were more devastatingly beautiful than Ornella Mutti at her prime would she be on the rite side of the curve.
I’m not sure the Guardian identified her correctly. Every other picture I have seen of her, she looks like this.
She’s cute. She make me feel good for very long time, yes?
She’s Korean so I’m not sure I would be able to resist.
As there is a slight chance you haven’t masturbated yet today, here you go, my friend.
Wifey’s going to get it good tonight:) lol
Guessing the aunt is dead now?
Meanwhile the regressive United States refuses to elect the most qualified person ever, Hillary Clinton /prog.
His Holiness nailed it upthread. Their unending assaults on inalienable rights have no end. Disarming the American people is essential for their goals.
“We aren’t going to ban smoking altogether. It’s just common sense to ban it on airplanes. Don’t worry, just common sense stuff”
But Suthen you may lose you gun right, but you get free birth control, so it’s like totally worth it
What kind of gun rights movements are tjere in romania? Is it even an issue that gets discussed?
no. there are a few hundred people who may have a facebook group or something, but in general society and politics I have never heard gun rights mentioned, it just isn’t a topic, and the vast majority of the population want guns completely illegal so it will not be a topic anytime soon
It’ll take a while for society to get the imprint of the boot sole off it’s face.
How do people protect themselves from home invaders? Other than wreaths of garlic on their doors, obviously.
Crosses and holly water naturally. Kidding aside many people do have holy water in their home, it is apparently good to drink on an empty stomach to protect you from disease.
How do people protect themselves from home invaders?Mostly they don’t. There are not that many home invasions though. Rural areas, people have axes and such. Urban, if you live in the good side of town like me it is not a big problem. If you live in the bad side of town, cops and criminals are usually in it together and no one cares about the plebs.
A common turn of phrase for gun rights advocates in the U.S. is, “when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.”
Does the Romanian criminal element (cops excluded) have any trouble arming themselves?
Not really. I mean guns are rarely used in the streets, but when police do raid criminals – they need to catch some – they usually find guns. There were also murders with artisan made guns, a decently skilled dude with a workshop can make a functioning firearm. But via Serbia, Albania, Ukraine or Moldavia illegal guns can be acquired without much issue
I have no idea how gun crime would be affected by making them legal. I mean any legalization in Romania will probably include a permit, registration background checks and such so I don’t think the people who would;d legally get guns would be criminals
How are the self defense laws in your country. As sloopy mentions. can you kill a home invader, free of legal consequences?
If you can prove he was a home invader and was punting your life in danger yes. But it is a hassle to show no unnecessary violence,, but you can plead self defense and have no legal issues after. It takes some time though, there has to be an investigation. There was a case of a hunter whos house was broken into and he had a rifle and got the robber. It was just buckshot not bullet, but a close range it worked
A rifle that puts our buckshot?
What strange weaponry you have in the former Soviet bloc.
rifle shotgun whatever. It long, unlike a handgun which is short. And yes I realize rifle mean rifled. Well in my mind shotgun is one of those things with the pump action and this was just one with two barrels and one shell per barel.
Point is shaming a poor Romanian over guns is microagression
Ta-Nehisi Coates: the laureate of black lives
Coates’s eloquent polemics on the black experience in America brought him fame and the admiration of Barack Obama. Here he talks about the rise of white supremacy – and why Trump was a logical conclusion
https://www.theguardian.com/books/2017/oct/08/ta-nehisi-coates-our-story-is-a-tragedy-but-doesnt-depress-me-we-were-eight-years-in-power-interview
“The New York Times described him as “the pre-eminent black public intellectual of his generation”.”
Good thing they added the race qualifier.
Ta-Nehisi Coates: the diversity hire of laureates.
Quite the insult to blacks. I’m pretty sure I can easily find a black person with the intellectual capacity to have more thoughts in their head than “My oppression!”
I’m already derped out today.
When average public intellectuals become celebrities, this is the definition of a Dark Age.
I… can’t even
SYNTAX ERROR
Coates, the guy who wrote a column saying that he would never debate Thomas Sowell because Sowell had icky opinions. The comments were not enabled on that particular article from what I remember.
Pretty smart on Coates’ part to use the fifty tigers strategy. He would have been eaten alive.
Coates is smart enough to know that he would be made look a fool if he ever tried to spar with someone like Sowell.
Well, saying so is its own form of debate. Its just cowardly and dishonest.
also – isn’t that actually the best reason to debate someone? debates between people who mostly agree are fucking boring; they spend time congratulating each other on their sparkling insights, and simply try and parse 10 different flavors of vanilla. People who disagree to their core will struggle to even be congenial and decent to one another, which is a test of character: the ‘winner’ isn’t necessarily the one who convinces the other, but the one who maintains composure and doesn’t resort to any cheap rhetorical tactics.
I would think that if you were actually a “public intellectual” instead of some farce that you would welcome debates with those that are in complete disagreement with you. But I think that Coates knows that his shtick only works with other progressives and would get torn to shreds if he had to defend a lot of what he has said. When I actually bothered to look at The Atlantic years back i noticed that he seemed to have a very thin skin to any criticism in the comments section. Most were either blocked from commenting or heavily moderated and closed after a short while.
its sort of the whole point.
refusals to do so aren’t de-facto admission of your own weakness: there’d be little point, for instance, to have Charles Murray and Lindy West debate. they speak to entirely different audiences. The SJW side isn’t interested in academic research, and Murray would have no idea about all her intersectional-moral-preening was even about.
But its when people posture as public intellectuals, and then pretend that others – particularly people who have spent decades toiling in similar fields before them – are ‘beneath them’… that you’re basically admitting you’re an intellectual fraud. You have no game.
e.g. Another way of admitting it is when you state disagreement with someone without ever even articulating *why*. You’re not an intellectual if you’re relying entirely on the assumed shared-judgment of your readership. You’re just a huckster.
– this latter thing is a very common modern-millenial rhetorical dodge: the “omg i can’t even“-move; declaring something about someone else’s statement *so beyond the pale* that all one can do is make expressions of horror… yet 99% of the time they do this, the thing they’re pearl-clutching about is actually vague and undefined. Its basically a cheap way of asking their audience to *impute* some meaning which isn’t even there. As though the statement were actually a ‘racist dogwhistle’ or some similar ‘crypto’ message that only fine-tuned-SJW minds can understand.

Investigators reportedly believe Las Vegas gunman had undiagnosed mental illness
So. He was libertarian?
/prog.
Well, has anyone seen Hihn lately?
Lol
Ya’know…now that you mention it Hihn, in my imagination, bears a striking resemblance to Paddock.
If you squint really hard….
No shit. I didn’t know we had an image of him. Yeah, thats pretty accurate. More or less what I imagined.
(walks away laughing)
(snicker)
You sir, are a bully.
UNPROVOKED AGGRESSION!! AS I FORETOLD!!!
I suppose you could say anyone that murders has a mental illness but the guy was a millionaire, had a girlfriend, flew planes and was apparently capable of maneuvering the daily minutiae better than average.
… sounds a lot like the public image of McAfee.
Up next in the millionaire category, John du Pont.
No.
Mental illness is when the brain can’t process reality; basically ‘sees/hears/experiences shit that isn’t there’, or imputes significance to things that healthy brains understand as meaningless. Mental illness is when the color of the icing on a cake *speaks to you*.
Murderers possess ill-will. Ill-will isn’t “mental illness”. It is misanthropy, which is something normal people experience constantly, but which they regulate.
Spree killers choose to stop regulating it. Mentally ill people have no choice.
I dont think we are ever going to get a straight story. The day after I saw several people looking up the girlfriend and claiming that she belonged to a slew of lefty organizations. I have no idea how credible those reports are. Mass shooters who seek notoriety usually leave some kind of screed, it seems odd that he wouldn’t unless his motive was religious or political. I suspect TDS.
i’m sure everyone is trying to tie him to the other side
Exactly, and why I dont trust anything I hear so far.
I make it a point to avoid paying attention any news for about a month after these things happen. Everything is just so muddled at this point.
One source told the network that Paddock displayed anti-social traits common to other mass shooters. Others point out that Paddock appeared to have trouble forming meaningful relationships and was seen by some acquaintances as disconnected or standoffish.
*looks nervously out window*
Phew, glad that’s settled. Can we go back to talking about the NFL now?
Cook Islands faces its ‘worst case scenario’, being granted developed country status
Government officials worry new status will result in a cut in aid and could hurt the country’s growth prospects

Oh no not the aid!
Some of our concerns is that moving from a mid income to a high income country does not take into account our constant vulnerability to natural disasters and climate change. – climate change is totally not a justification for cash-grabs
“Although we are now considered a prosperous nation the cost on a per capita basis is very high for basic infrastructure like airstrips, ports and medical and education facilities, we have to replicate these services on all these islands even though some of them have tiny populations.” – honestly its not reasonable to live on an island population 50 and expect all the amenities of a more densely populated area
Don’t do it, Minnasoda jerks!
Landing Amazon would be a huge coup that would shift the center of the universe a little more toward Minnesota. Economic growth would swell exponentially. Developers would swoon and BMW dealerships would proliferate.
But in reading opinions from writers who now live in Seattle, such a victory could come at an unforeseen and mighty steep price: our soul.
Gregory Scruggs of Reuters wrote a cautionary tale for cities seeking Bezos:
“The Amazon-led influx has dramatically changed the culture in many parts of the city,” he wrote of what’s happened in Seattle. “Neighborhoods increasingly feel dominated by a white, male cohort of recent college graduates making six-figure salaries. The level of angst among people who have lived here for much of their lives is palpable and infectious.”
Minnesota mayors and City Council members who are currently struggling to grapple with massive inequities among whites and minorities may want to heed the words of Seattle author Jason Schmidt, who wrote:
“The presence of Amazon.com (or Microsoft, or Google, or whatever) in Seattle doesn’t really do anything to improve your lot in life. All it does is bring thousands of developers, project managers, and other tech workers into the city. I’m sure they’re nice people, but they earn upward of $100,000 a year, and they like your apartment. They think the house you grew up in is charming. And they are ready and willing to pay more for housing than you could ever afford, in your wildest dreams.”
If you dance with the Devil, he’ll tear your dress off and commit unspeakable depravities upon your precious virginal self. Seconds of pleasure cannot wipe away a lifetime of shame. Hold your virtue dear.
That’s parody, right?
Very, very real.
The Twin Cities is not widely thought to be a favorite, but it has appeared on a few Top Ten lists because we have a lot of the company’s “critical decision drivers,” including, apparently, a willingness to give them piles of money and massive tax breaks.
We showed the world how easily we could be bent over for a billion dollar football stadium. They already established what we are – now it’s just haggling.
That said, no way in hell it happens.
.
Something tells me that is the only “decision driver”.
No One Knew Why Philly’s Straight Black Women Are At Such High Risk Of HIV, Until Now
Professor Bridgette M. Brawner explains how “geobehavioral vulnerability” is behind the statistics.
https://blavity.com/no-one-knew-why-phillys-straight-black-women-are-at-such-high-risk-of-hiv-until-now?utm_content=bufferfa542&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer
Where you live, where you work and even where you socialize plays a huge role in your health.
Straight black women living in Philadelphia, for instance, are at a higher rick of contracting HIV than heterosexual white female Philadelphians.
No one knows exactly why, but in a new study, Professor Bridgette Brawner of the University of Pennsylvania believes she’s had a breakthrough, The Inquirer reports.
…
The social cohesion finding is key; previous studies have proven that in populations where women outnumber men, men tend to have more heterosexual sexual partners, increasing the likelihood of spreading HIV.
Philadelphia has more black women than black men, partially due to high incarceration and early death figures for its black male population. Exacerbating this, Brawner’s study found, is the fact that Philadelphia’s black neighborhoods tend to be fairly tight-knit, leading black women to date men from fairly small social circles. One infected man, then, could easily infect multiple black women.
So the black people in Philly can only have sex with other black people?
Bullshit.
All cases of HIV in straight black women in Philly can be traced to this guy.
That’s parody, right?
You slay me.

I think SJW are tiny minority of the general population, but they seem to be the ones in charge of moderating social media platforms such as Twitter and YouTube.
A desperate need for attention seems to be a definite characteristic, so one would expect them to be attracted to the attention whoring utilities of the internet age.
Chucky Todd is blabbering about guns and demographics. More rural households own gunz than urban households. More Republikkkinz than Democrats.

One more reason to get rid of the Electoral College, nicht wahr?
I am wondering how long before they decide they just cant live with the intransigent deplorables any more and call for something crazy. Clinton more or less said so with her deplorables are irredeemable speech.
I’ve heard “progressives” ranting about how horrible things are in the American South, and they sometimes ruminate on whether it would have been better to just let those states secede because “then we wouldn’t have to deal with them and all their social problems“.
I think some people in the South – particularly Texans – would LOVE to get out from under this federal government. But if the Southerners themselves brought up the idea of secession, the “progressives” would scream bloody murder about a secret plot to bring back slavery or something.
Fortunately that ‘horrible things in the South’ is a canard. The South they have in mind is as gone as yesterday’s rain. What they mean is not racism…Chicago has the worst racism I have seen…it isnt poverty, that is worse in Dem run cities…what they are really complaining about is that we dont vote their way.
A good friend is insistent that the U.S. would be better off if it evicted Texas.
I told him lots of Texans feel the same way about Texas’ fortunes.
He was quite shocked and upset.
“You can’t quit, you’re fired!”
I can’t stand these stupid arguments that are based on the demography of gun owners. It most often comes in the form of “Gun ownership is shrinking! It’s just a small group of paranoid extremists buying more and more guns!” Even if that were true, why does it fucking matter? It would still be an inalienable right even if there was only one person in the country who wanted to own guns.
“Progressives” are talking up a storm about rights for transgender people, who comprise a tiny sliver of the population, yet gun ownership should be scrapped because it’s allegedly something enjoyed by a small minority of redneck Republicans. I support rights for both trannies and gun owners, but if I wanted to turn “progressive” arguments back on them, I’d say, “Why are we doing all this shit for transsexuals? They’re only X% of the population!!“
“Sexism is apparently bad for dogs.
Academics Paul McGreevy, from the University of Sydney, and the University of Wollongong’s Fiona Probyn-Rapsey have blamed gender stereotypes for harming the mental health of pooches.

No shit. Male and female canine personalities are as different as night and day. I am looking at six of the lazy parasites right now. That assertion is one heapin’ helpin’ of horseshit. Once again forcing reality and fact to fit the narrative.

Speaking of pumpkins, I decided to make use of an old tin of pumpkin puree that I had left over from last Fall. Folded it into Bisquick basic pancake batter with some Bird’s custard powder, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, some molasses, additional half tsp of baking powder. It works, though no pumpkin ale to pair with it.

The rapper, whose real name is Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., was arrested and questioned earlier in the day after a woman called 911 to report being sexually assaulted by Nelly on his tour bus following a Friday night (Oct. 6) concert in Auburn, Washington, police said in a statement.

ALL sex between Black men and white women is considered rape, EVEN if it’s consensual, in a system of white supremacy. Nelly got caught up
“Oh why do I live this way?”
Must be the money?
I keep hearing this kind of thing but it is always in the heart of some proggie haven or from a SJW type. I live in the deep south. I see mixed couples all of the time. Nobody pays any attention. Regular people just dont care.
SJW = scab picker
It’s a stereotype, but it’s true. Fat white woman with skinny black man is common as dirt around here.
I have known several of those. The white girls had a palpable air of hate for me for seemingly no reason. I have made an educated guess that those girls were somehow abused by white guys.
I always just figured black guys like big asses and fat women need loving too. You may be on to something though.
Honestly, though, accusing Nelly of sexual assaulting you in a tour bus is a no-brainer for a gold digger.
Easier than a slip and fall claim!
Even if they don’t press charges, the jury in the civil trial is going by a preponderance of the evidence, and if it’s he said/she said, the evidence is?
Exhibit A) It was in Nelly’s tour bus.
Exhibit B) It was Nelly
The only question is whether she settles out of court or if she goes for the big bucks.
If you’re Nelly, you’re in a tour bus, and you’re bangin’ Bettys, you know this is out there. Nelly might save money hiring a lawyer to set up an office in the front of his tour bus and have them sign consent and waiver forms on the way in the door.
Shouldn’t he be telling somebody to wash their ass?
It’s important to practice good hygiene

Now that I look at that again I have to say that most of the objections to mixed couples seems to come from blacks, particularly black women.
And Asian men.
“Will Congress finally get something done about gun violence?”
Hey, I have an idea. They should make it illegal. That will put an end to it, once and for all.
Laws are magic!
‘Antibiotic apocalypse’: doctors sound alarm over drug resistance
The terrifying prospect that even routine operations will be impossible to perform has been raised by experts alarmed by the rise of drug-resistant genes
https://www.theguardian.com/society/2017/oct/08/world-faces-antibiotic-apocalypse-says-chief-medical-officer
To be honest, antibiotics is one of the few things where my libertarianism wavers and I sometime see the use of some regulation. Although there probably are ways a free market could handle the issue
Romania is a country where antibiotics are over-prescribed by doctors and many people still think they work for colds and the flu. Romanians moving to Western Europe with small children are often surprised they don’t get antibiotics at the first sign of fever
Places where they are unregulated is the source of most of these super-bugs. Prophylactic use of antibiotics by prostitutes is a really, really bad idea. Hell I…uh…I knew a guy who bought tetracycline by the pound in Peru and Bolivia.
Well, an informed and educated public might be an excellent idea.
And really, the prophylactic use by hookers (and other people) wouldn’t be a problem if everyone involved completed the course.
This is really scary shit. Things like CRKP are evolving to the point where they are resistant to almost everything.
The free market could indeed solve this if the FDA would get the hell out of the way for new drug development. Companies could then research and manufacture new antibiotics with a much lower profit margin and still make money. The way it stands now, approval is so expensive and lengthy that it’s not worth it to research drugs as pedestrian as antibiotics.
I’m laughing my ass off. Most of the office is working this weekend as we switch over from our old major business management application (built in Lotus Notes!!!!) to a new custom built one that is a web app. The company is catering lunch. One of the senior directors, who is the biggest PITA from an IT perspective, confronted the caterers in my presence about their ‘vegan’ option. “How can you say rice is vegan?!? It’s cooked.”
I had to flee to avoid laughing in her face..
What does that mean?
Is non-cooked a vegan thing?
you it called, unsurprisingly, raw vegan diet
Sounds like an excellent way to contract all manner of pathogens.
*Invertibrate Zoology and lab was a class that forever changed my life.
She thought Vegan = “uncooked”
BTW, she’s not a vegan. Just very quarrelsome.
So she is not a vegan, but she thinks she knows more about it than the people who prepare the food for vegan customers? I am sorry you have to work with this person. She sounds like a bitch.
She’s not so bad if you know how to handle her.
I don’t even dislike her; even though on three occasions I had to plug the power cord for her computer speakers back into the power strip to fix the problem she reported as our firewall blocking Pandora. 😀
Now the commie with the Soviet Propaganda posters, including one encouraging people to loot the corpses of dead Germans… her I dislike intensely.
So she’s into raw foods, not necessarily vegan?
Alternate theory: she’s retarded.
Lotus Notes…hahaha…just how old is that system?
It’s terrible, but the old system will probably run way better than the new one /jaded corporate drone
People still use Lotus Notes?
My old job used. Think they didn’t change until 1-2 years ago. Each time you tried to search for an email, it would take 45s – 2m to return results. Current company uses google suite. As much as I dislike google these days, gmail is the best damn email platform by far, in my opinion. Plus google docs/sheets is useful.
Lotus Notes is a crime against humanity.
I predict Lotus Notes will be with us for a long time
Teen Vogue, to the rescue!
We need to have a talk.
We’ve had this talk so often that we’re almost sick of hearing ourselves. (Almost, but not quite.) That’s because cultural appropriation — the topic of said talk — keeps happening year after year. And while it’s pretty prevalent at any time of year, like a feathered headdress at Coachella or a bindi at even Pride Parades, there’s no way to discuss cultural appropriation without addressing the very large elephant in the room: Halloween.
Halloween is like a cultural appropriation free-for-all, because people can scream “costume” as a sort of defense. Cultural appropriation is when an individual (often one of privilege, a dominant culture, or both) adopts, or appropriates, the cultural or religious elements of a marginalized, oppressed, or minority culture. It usually happens without any sensitivity for or acknowledgement of the originating culture or religion — and, in some cases, “it makes a caricature of the ‘other’,” says Myra Mendible, Ph.D., a professor of comparative literature and cultural studies at Florida Gulf Coast University who studies media culture, ethnicity, and gender. Cultural appropriation also often involves the appropriator gaining from the action (while the opposite is often true of the people something is appropriated from), whether that’s in terms of profit or social cachet.
Cultural appropriation is NOT OKAY. You might as well just bring your slidestock-equipped AR-15 to that Halloween party your woke ass sorority sisters are throwing.
Come to think of it, I think perhaps you should.
“We’ve had this talk so often that we’re almost sick of hearing ourselves.”
We sure as hell are.
They’re clearly not sick enough to shut up.
Of all of the perversities of pinkos this objection to cultural appropriation crap has got to be the worst. Cultural appropriation is a good thing. Cementing any culture in place forever will ensure the death of that culture. There should be a constant, vibrant flow of style, food, language, music and technology between cultures…all of ’em.
Teen Vogue can fuck right off.
We’ve had this talk so often that we’re almost sick of hearing ourselves. (Almost, but not quite.)
Then we almost have something in common.
In Romania we’ve been talking about the issues with vampires as well, they still don’t exist
I think you better look again…unless you have run out of politicians.
We need to have a talk.
Sorry. Too busy with the butt fucking. Come back later.
…had better goddamn get on her knees every fucking morning and kiss the American flag before standing on her balcony and singing the national anthem through a goddamn bullhorn, because there aren’t too many damn countries where the standard of living is so high that you can make a comfortable living, gain tenure, and achieve some measure of social status by getting a PhD in “thinking about stuff” and coming up with new, completely useless paradigms with which to over-analyze the world around you. If that isn’t proof positive that we live in one of the greatest nations on Earth, as part of the greatest civilization that ever existed.
Big boobies 4evah!

Hopefully number 24 is playing strip poker.
#1 is #1
23 will boil your bunny, sure as hell
Now that I know what a bunny boiler is, I see it too. I think that girl, (the eyes give her away) would not start with boiling your bunny but move right on to Lorena Bobbitt surgery techniques. She looks nuts.
#26 needs to watch out for pricks.
#1, #4, #15, #31, and #46, for obvious reasons. #31 looks like she might also be able to compete in the thiccness category, too. Basically, just sign me up for every one that hasn’t had a nose job, botox injections, and isn’t making a duck face or duck face variant.
#46. There are no others.

this was reply to Q
Cultural appropriation is a good thing.
No kidding. I’ll steal a good idea from anybody.
It seems like such a good idea to spend a fortune sending your kid to a place like this.

More from the cultural appropriation rapid response team at Teen Vogue
“We are only halfway through 2017 and yet the number of occurrences of misappropriation happening to Indigenous Peoples in all regions of the world seems relentless with no relief in sight,” Aroha Te Pareake Mead a member of the Ngati Awa and Ngati Porou tribes told CBA. The committee is hoping to have new international laws that would place sanctions and regulations in place that would protect the intellectual property of indigenous people. James Anaya, dean of law at the University of Colorado told the committee, that the UN should, “Obligate states to create effective criminal and civil enforcement procedures to recognize and prevent the non-consensual taking and illegitimate possession, sale and export of traditional cultural expressions.”
After years of trying to protect their traditions, it looks like the Indigenous People of the world are starting to make some headway. Now, with the threat of going against guidelines likely resulting in something more serious than social media shame, hopefully, designers and brands will take notice.
When the Blue Helmets are fighting door-to-door through New York’s fashion district, you’ll treat cultural appropriation with the seriousness and respect it deserves.
James Anaya needs a remedial class on the bill of rights.
Yeah, if you think Trump gave the UN the business when he spoke there I imagine it be 1000x more entertaining for them to try and obligate us to do anything. How about you motherfuckers pay your parking tickets and keep your mouth shut before we cut off your water.
I blame rape culture and patriarchy.

Where are the pussyhats now eh?
https://amgreatness.com/2017/10/07/hey-lefties-where-are-your-pssyhats-now/
I noted that peaceful demonstrations were designed to make us feel uncomfortable. Many of those demonstrating report feeling uncomfortable every day. Those made uncomfortable by the demonstration experienced that for a day. I went on to say that I was not uncomfortable walking past the protest, but my reaction was an example of how privilege (mine in this example) causes all of us to view events differently when we are in a privileged position.
No shit, pal. Your “president of the college” privilege provides you with the unique self defense mechanism of expelling anybody who threatens you.
Take that robe and mortarboard off, and come at me, man to man. I’ll show you what uncomfortable feels like.
These useful idiots destroy everything they touch. They have the kiss of death. Have no fear, the academic bubble they have created will implode. Hell, Missou enrollment is down 30% is it? That is crippling for a university. I imagine Evergreen college will collapse as well and who knows how many others. The girl in the article said “Albion is going downhill quickly”.
What was it the Rusky said about useful idiots? “After a person is demoralized they cannot be fixed. No matter how much information you give them they cannot draw a sensible conclusion.” Yes. Well such a person cant solve problems or accomplish anything. Failure is a certainty. I predict that progressivism, just like last time, will barely last a generation.
Most of the populace here, just like in the old soviet union, are sensible people. They were at a disadvantage in that they could not effectively choose their leaders. We still dont have that problem, thus no president Hillary. The left is waging a constant war to change that. That is why they want censorship and a disarmed population. That is why the constant effort to control what people see and hear, what they wear and what they eat. Every issue they have is designed to make the individual weaker, smaller and more dependent.
Who agrees that Kristin Fisher should sleep with me?
Yeah, I’m a sucker for gingers as well
Oh fuck me
Wow. If TWO suicides in one apartment building constitute a curse, I’d say there’s a curse on countless apartment buildings in Japan and South Korea. This doofus needs to get out more.
Yeah, that struck me too. I bet I can throw a rock from the roof of that building and hit another one with more than two suicides.
Unless the rock hits yourself, it counts as homocide not suicide.
“news”
New neighbor?
Thank god I don’t work in or travel near that neighborhood very often. But just thinking of them and their fawning sycophants holding court nearby for any stretch of time is nauseating.
No other building had two suicides? In that whole city? I find that hard to believe. Especially with all of the stories of brokers jumping to their death after the stock market crash.
Also, some man of the people, moving into an $8-10m pad.
Politicians are always doing this weird schizophrenic dance where they’re trying to look like a “man of the people” who watches football and drinks beer while also cultivating this image that they’re so far above the rest of us; almost celestial in origin, like the Japanese emperor.
A have never known a self-professed ‘man of the people’ to do any different.
Does this mean they’ll finally be leaving DC? Please?
The thing that strikes me about that is just how incestuous the upper-class left is. Katrina Van Den Heuvel and Anderson Cooper both closely related to wealthy New York families? But Anderson Cooper stands near helicopters! In the desert, for God’s sake! Say it ain’t so!
What?!? You thought the advancement of talentless hacks like Lena Dunham to the forefront of the entertainment industry was a new thing?
No, but it’s a little like knowing about the Elder Gods versus stumbling upon a cult summoning a shoggoth. Just the thought that on any given weekend half of the media and the wealthiest upper-crusters of the northeast might be at a clam-bake at the Kennedy compound for a family get-together is a little horrifying. A little like the end of Rosemary’s Baby where it turns out they all know each other.
That isnt far from the truth. Hollywood is that way also and there is a lot of crossover between them.
Get that? ‘Showpeople’ who a couple of generations ago were never seen in polite company now think of themselves as aristocrats.
They absolutely are incestuous and they are that way because they see themselves as royalty. There are lots of people like that in the south and I know what they are like. Royalty my ass. I just sneer back at them. They turn their noses up and I just think “You are only two or three generations out from under a pine stump, I know your family so cut that out.”
My theory: they’re all driving on the wrong goddamn side of the street.
I was in Australia twice. Both times I had a car. I never drove on the wrong side of the street while in Australia.
In fact, I had to come back to America to drive on the wrong side of the street.
After I got back, got my bags, and got my car, I went to a restaurant near the airport to get dinner. I took a one way street to leave the restaurant, and then made a left hand turn onto a two way street. I made the left hand turn, and drove on the left hand side of the two way street. Oops. Thankfully there was no one on the street at that point and there was no concrete divider between the lanes.
In Australia, they drive upside down. You were lucky to survive the experience.
I rented a car in Australia once. I didn’t find it hard to not drive on the wrong side of the street, but it did fuck me up. I would look up where I wanted to go on google maps or whatever, but have myself all turned around and lost within three turns. That and every time I wanted to use the turn signal the damn wipers would come on. Plus, the sun is in the wrong part of the sky there so my internal North bearing was all fucked up.
Turning on the windshield wipers when I wanted to signal a turn drove me up a wall.
NH State Rep proposes state level bump stock ban
New Hampshire House Democratic Leader Steve Shurtleff, D-Penacook, will bring forward a bill to ban so-called “bump stocks” – the devices used by the Las Vegas gunman that enable semi-automatic weapons to fire more rapidly.
Since the deadline for introducing new bills has passed, Shurtleff will need Rules Committee support in the House.
“I have asked to be placed on the agenda for the House Rules Committee when they meet on Wednesday,” he said. “I’ll ask the committee to file a late bill.”
the devices used by the Las Vegas gunman that
enable semi-automatic weapons to fire more rapidlymake it somewhat easier to do what you can already do by holding your trigger finger rigid and pulling the fore-end of the gun forwardThe YouTube video of the guy using his belt loop is instructive in that regard.
Is that the one that tears his pants and they fall down around his ankles?
I have a Kimber 1911 in 45 that used to shoot like that on its own. I would try to squeeze off one shot and three or four pieces of brass would hit the ground. It fired so fast that sometimes you couldn’t tell, it sounded like one shot. Screw that, it’s dangerous and costly in ammo. I took it and had the disconnector replaced. I never did figure out how it was doing it but that fixed it.
Oh, so we need to ban all firearms?
Amputate the fingers… just to be sure.
the now this video was posted to my facebook. I am angry.
want to respond. should probably look at some of those stats.
There it is. They have defined career criminal as someone with three misdemeanors in five years. That is three parking tickets. If you can only take guns from ‘career criminals’ then simply define everyone a career criminal. This is common verbal sleight of hand for gun grabbers. Lying sacks of shit.
So that’s what Tulpa looks like.
I think Spencer would get some protestors in Columbus but would mostly be ignored. Not sure if anyone would come to support him outside of people he brings with him.
http://nbc4i.com/2017/10/08/white-nationalists-impose-deadline-for-ok-on-ohio-campus-speeches/
Me and 350 million other Americans wouldn’t even know who Spencer is if the left weren’t always screaming and pointing at him.

I got about ten words in and said to myself, “Somebody needs a new disconnector.”
Yeah, the 1911 design has only been dependable since when . . . 1911?
I guess the Winchester 94 has been around for longer, but apart from that, who’s really gonna knock the 1911 for reliability.
P.S. If they someday put an MLK monument on the National Mall, I want one to John Browning put up right next to it.
I knew it was the disconnector but I couldn’t figure out how it was doing it. Top was too short? Wouldn’t grab the hammer? Obviously the hammer was not catching and following the slide but…? I dunno. I put a new one in right out of the box and problem solved. The Gun Smith burnished it with his shirt and some very fine paste, that was it.
My latest project is the Marlin I mentioned yesterday. A 94 in 218 Bee. I have had the thing for well over a decade and hardly ever laid a finger on it so I am giving it and the reloading system and 500 pieces of loaded brass to my brother. Now I am all pumped to go next weekend so we can play with the thing. It is so much fun to shoot you cant believe it.
I thought brooks was quoting someone from some other site!
Brooks with his confounded thread protest!
Milwaukee police chief is a terrified pussy, plays a mournful tune on his dogwhistle. Career criminals, my ass.
They are pleading felons down to misdemeanors because it’s easier. IOW they have honest to god violent criminals running around in the streets and catching up regular Joe’s in their dragnet so they can violate their inalienable rights. The criminals they are letting run amok are going to have guns anyway. They aren’t going to apply for any permit and get their names on the list of people going around armed.
Stop pleading people down and put the violent ones in jail. This guy is a classic mendacious gun grabber. There are so many things wrong with his argument I cant count them.
So new Trek…. First of all did everyone forget that Star Trek has always been heavyhanded leftist propaganda?
Also strange to see anti-SJWs wish for more utopian communism…
As for the show itself well I’m not sure having the actual premise show up in episode 3 was the greatest idea?
Seems this was to makeup for the budget of the first two episodes..
“I have special needs” ugh.
The gay guy had a lisp but didn’t announce it like special needs girl. Surprising.
What is with the starfleet is not a military organization nonsense? They have the US Navy ranks, an Academy, heavily armed, and are expected to fight the federation’s wars.
I was also going to mention . . . just for discussion purposes, mind you . . .
Different people have different interpretations of what’s NSFW.
In some places, picture shows from the Chive of redheads might be a problem.
In other places, maybe your boss would look at you sideways if the IT guy showed him your browser history, and there was a picture with a fat, white, Buddha-dog, building himself a PC and sportin’ a rad haircut from 1981.
I never drove a car when I was in Australia, but I almost got run over a few times. When you step off the curb, you’re looking the wrong way. Then, as you realize there’s a car coming, you look through the windshield, and THERE’S NOBODY DRIVING THE GODDAM THING.
Top was too short? Wouldn’t grab the hammer?
I haven’t had mine that far apart in a while, but as I recall, the disconnector disables the sear. Without the disconnector, the hammer just keeps coming down.
Also, on the brain of Charles Babbage . . .
When I was like 15, I had this 17 year-old girlfriend in DC. She wasn’t the first girlfriend I ever had, but she was memorable. Whew!
We’d go on double dates–me and her and her friend and my friend. We’d usually just go downtown or to a park somewhere and find some private place and . . .
So one day, she told us she wanted to take us somewhere we’d never been before. I had no idea where we were going on the Metro. It turned out to be the Walter Reed Medical Museum. I don’t know if it’s still there–I doubt it. I’ll google it.
[Update] I guess they moved it.
http://www.foxnews.com/travel/2011/10/17/army-museums-morbid-oddities-resettled-in-maryland.html
Anyway, this place had hall after hall after hall after hall of large jars filled with dead babies–all of them with horrific deformities. There was a hall of nothing but conjoined twins. There were plenty of other specimens for a medical museum. Babies and body parts and . . .
Anyway, if you’re in DC, it’s not something that gets a lot of tourists, I bet. It’s not part of the Smithsonian. But you can see the actual bullets that killed various presidents? That’s more interesting than a bunch of cherry blossoms. And buried in the back somewhere, there might be halls of jars filled with stuff they maybe wouldn’t put in a slasher film for being too much.
“hall after hall after hall after hall of large jars filled with dead babies–all of them with horrific deformities.”
My grandfather told me once that back in the good ‘ol days the majority of the population lived on farms. “If you wanted to get a wife you were confined to a half-days horse ride. You probably didn’t have half a dozen choices. That’s just the way it was everywhere. Married cousins were real common.”
+1 Mutter Museum in Philadelphia.

John Dillinger’s 19″ penis!
I have had a Boston butt on the smoker since about 8am. It’s getting close to being done. My wife made cole slaw. I have a few onions to cut up. I made my own vinegar bbq sauce. We have been drinking since about 1 oclock.
My wide and I rarely get a weekend off together. This is a good day.
“My wide and I…”
Talk anout a John-o. So many levels.
