Dubious Rivalry of the Week
Akron @ Toledo, Toledo, OH
Zips vs Rockets. I was expecting this to be a real rivalry, but they have only played 19 times. Toledo leads 10-9. This didn’t play between 1947 and 1992. I am sure there is a reason, but I don’t care enough to look it up. Akron led 6-2 before the hiatus, but Toledo has won 9 of the last 11.
Tailgate of the Week
Fresno St @ San Diego St, San Diego, CA
After last week’s boozy punch, I am going cold turkey and talking beer only. So San Diego was an easy choice for the week.
Beer: I was going to list them, but a link is easier. Enjoy.
Game of the Century of the Week
USC @ Notre Dame, Sound Bend, IN
This has been a big game in the past and is again, because Notre Dame has decided not to suck this year. I think both are overhyped, but the winner is still around for discussions of the playoffs for at least another week.
Notre Dame leads the all time series 44-36-5. Instead of alternating between October in Indiana and November in California, they should reverse it. I would like to USC playing in northern Indiana in late November.
Top 25
And like every other ranking system, Alabama is now #1. I can’t explain Florida, they moved into the to 25 with a loss. **shrug** Computer systems, watcha gonna do?
Falling out: Maryland, Texas Tech, UCLA, Navy.
Time for ‘Cuse to take out another top 5 team this weekend.
“Great kid….don’t get cocky.”
for dinner and a movie?
*touchdown applause*
Kostrizer Schwarzbier with dinner. The east germans did something good.
I had beer at the local brewpub for dinner. A liter total (not in a proper Maß, two half liter glasses) of Oktoberfestbier and their 24th anniversary beer. Pretty good.
RE: East Germans and beer: Leipziger Gose is good.
I reiterate my love of Radeburger Pils from another thread. Berliner Weiss is also supposed to be fine (enough American breweries copy it, after all.)
Their wine, is, well, it could be better. I would have totally been a winery intern at one of those properties down the Elbe though, if I had ended up living in Dresden like we were thinking about.
Think Hungary when you want former Communist countries making wine. Though Georgia and Armenia would be great if someone felt like plowing the money into those regions.
‘I can’t explain Florida, they moved into the to 25 with a loss. **shrug** Computer systems, watcha gonna do?’
Cal hardest hit?
Do you have their last score…my internet is down.
Mine too, but I heard they clobbered a highly overrated team to their north.
One of those can’t be true.
math is hard. 7 of 9, I think.
8 of 10, i mean.
8 of 11.
Akron won the first after the break, so 8 of 10.
Then both 8 of 10 and 8 of 11 are correct.
seven pieces of eight
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
Indeed!…a book I read once…no idea why that popped in my head.
You were reading a book….
Did someone say 7 of 9?
*standing ovation*
I hate both college football and Star Trek, yet *reluctantly rises in applause*
I would’ve been terribly disappointed if someone hadn’t posted this.
*waggles eyebrows*
Unfortunately she’s partly responsible for Obama.
She objected. It was The Chicago Tribune that found a Democrat Judge who would unseal records both parties to a divorce objected to having unsealed.
Despicable.
Resistance is futile
Butterface.
She has a face?
Danke Schön!
Oh, you were one of the best parts of Star Trek, and then again, you led to 8 years of Obama.
Sigh.
As usual, my beloved Buffs barely managed to squeak out a win against Oregon State last weekend, which was incredibly depressing despite being a win. I’m not super optimistic about our prospects for the rest of the season.
my team has been behind for 4 seconds in the 2nd half and is 3-2.
Lovie Smith coaches the band of losers I cheer for.
*looks down, kicks pebble*
Hischier scores his first two goals, but he doesn’t play for one of the glamor teams so we’ll see how much it gets hyped.
HE IS SWISS, IT SHOULD BE SHOUTED FROM THE ROOFTOPS!!!!
Nico Nico Nii?
I thought the only NHL glamour team was Pittsburgh (FUCK SIDNEY CROSBY)
The Red Wings and the Original Six too, I suppose.
Pittsburgh, Chicago, maybe the Rangers. At least that’s all NBC Sports cares about.
OT: I’d better go ahead and post this before HM does.

Wha…?
I’ve posted that before.
I should know better than to match wits with the master.
Don’t worry. You are still eligible for entry into the afterlife our ancestors have prepared for us.
NIGHT OF FIRE!
I wanna be pop considerably!
NO ONE SLEEP IN TOKYO!
That’s like Hair Band meets Disco.
That’s a pretty spot-on description of Eurobeat/Hi-NRG, to be honest.
I think Trump should replace Pence with that dude in 2020.
Somebody set up Pence the bomb!
All our base are belong to Pence!
I absolutely believe that.
I’m not a college fan, but when did UCF get good? I went to see them 30 years ago or so, back when they were Division II or III. At the time, they could barely play at that level.
Just started a decade back.
six postseason appearances since joining FBS (2005, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012), including the 2014 Fiesta Bowl, a BCS Bowl.
BLAKE BORTLEZ!
the USC ND game should be fun. Can’t wait to see when Darnold’s obligatory game turnover happens.
They are pretty well matched this year. Probably will hinge on how healthy the USC offensive and defensive lines are.
Needs more Northern Illinois University football coverage.
Also, Akron over Toledo, but, as usual Northern wins the MAC (otherwise known as the post-industrial conference) and does horribly in some bowl game.
Go Huskies
I believe my midweek maction section starts next week.
Is this the first one? I don’t remember a MACtion article?
There hasn’t been a Wednesday Mac game yet, so it will be the first.
OT: Watching Tucker C. debate a gun control advocate about what could’ve been done to prevent another Las Vegas type shooting . She proposes a law which Tucker correctly points out wouldn’t have limited the Las Vegas shooter’s ability to kill by any measure. “It’s not about preventing past murders, but preventing ones.” They really do think catchy slogans, witty vagina hats and monotonous chanting are winning debate tactics.
*It’s not about preventing past murders, but about preventing future ones*
Look, humans commit 100% of all murders; it’s time to ban humans.
Just move back to that robot planet, you anti-human bigot.
To be fair, I’m human and am an anti-human bigot. Are there robot women on that planet?
that doesn’t even make sense.
they think there are people willing to commit murder… and aren’t even concerned about getting caught; who do so anticipating they’ll kill themselves…. who will somehow still be stopped by some bureaucratic or procedural speed-bump?
Who are these theoretical criminals they have in mind?
They don’t care about criminals or murders past or future. They care about power and control. Just remind yourself of thus everytime you hear a gun grabber speak and all they say will make more sense. They aren’t honest and never have been.
Nail on the head there Lachowsky. It’s hard to get your boot on someone’s neck if they are armed. That is what is giving them the red-ass.
You visualize a world without murder, embark on a journey to change human nature, realize that human nature is near impossible to change and then it dawns on you; Some people can’t exist if this world is to be murder free.
So the logical conclusion is to start murdering to prevent murder. No thanks, I’ll keep my rifles.
I wonder if anyone here knows who said something along the lines of “If your conclusion is immoral, it doesn’t matter if your argument is sound and valid, it’s wrong.” I’m thinking Aristotle, but not sure.
Not some people, any people. Murder is human nature, fuck, the Amish kill each other, there is no group of people, race/culture/religion that wont kill. Anger in all it’s forms – from spite to jealousy knows no ideological bounds.
Liberty means allowing people the capability to commit murder. Murder denies the victim liberty, therefore in order to provide liberty we must deny people liber…..
Damn.
You are right straffin but it is more general than that. Some people cant exist if your version of Utopia is to realized. It isnt just about murder. It is about arranging the whole human race as if you were playing with dolls. Everyone must be just so-so and no stepping out of place can be allowed.
How can you possibly accomplish that if a bunch of intransigent deplorables are always spoiling your plans by doing as they please?
The more I think about that the creepier it is.
It’s beyond boring to me anymore. Moral scolds twenty years ago are now screaming for free speech and 2A protections. Hands off my body types twenty years ago are now putting us on government lists and cramming unpronounceable pronouns in our mouths. You would think that as they passed each other on the way to the other end of the spectrum, they would’ve said, “Hey, maybe we could work something out where we both can exist without beating the hell out of each other as we scramble for the gun of government.”
No. Power must be total. The problem is us ‘leave me alone’ types are caught in the middle. We are the ones who cant be allowed to exist.
Threading fail.
That was a reply to you straffin. We cant be allowed to exist because we are the ones who wont join one of their sides and we wont cooperate with whoever wins. We wont ‘with us or against us’ and stand by principle. In the end, no matter who wins and despite their best efforts, we will still be standing.
You can’t hug children with nuclear arms, straff
That never gets old. I dont remember where it came from but it always reminds me of Death’s date in Family Guy. I am guessing it probably first appeared on some dippy-hippy’s protest sign in the early 70’s in Marks-Alot. What a moran.
Since the Bucks have a Bye week and my sis is in town, I’m prolly giving the wife a break from football. I’m sure if we all end up going out, I’ll still be able to catch a little action. Would like to watch Michigan lose to PSU and ND lose to USC.
Just as long as Penn State gets worn out a little, I’ll be happy.
I’m glad we have them in Columbus
Slavic X-Men
You know we’ve fallen from grace when itinerant Northern vermin, the eternal footnotes to Mankind’s history can harass us with impunity.

Must be a libertarian moment.
Opioid crisis!!!!!!
Oh and speaking of opioid crisis, here’s a lump of shit almost guaranteed to get your blood boiling.
“MIKE MOORE: I’ve had lots of various family members and friends of mine that have overdosed. And many that I know have died just as others have. When you have the toll of anywhere from 35 to 50,000 people died in the last few years every year, everybody’s going to know somebody that died. And unfortunately, it’s – you know, it’s not some guy in the back hallways or back roads. It’s your neighbor, you know? It’s a 19-year-old son. It’s a 35-year-old parent of three children. It’s a very, very bad epidemic.”
Fuck you Mike Moore. It’s surg warriors like you who make the opioids dangerous. Nobody would be taking fentanyl laced heroin if there was a reliable supply of consistent potency opiods. Those deaths are all on your hands.
We all must suffer excruciating pain, in imitation of Our Savior, because Moore comes from a family of fucking junkies.
You will notice, quite unsurprisingly, that the article/interview is 100% devoid of laying a cunthair of blame on the individual consumer for the addiction and overdoses.
Who is left in the cold? Real chronic pain sufferers that have to submit to use audits and prison-type piss screenings.
I’ve had it up to here with the sobbing white trash ninnies moaning about how their muothbreathing junkie son died from snorting crushed oxy tabs or what have you, is soley due to the actions and presentations of other actors.
“A commission studying the potential impact of legalizing, regulating and taxing marijuana for recreational use in New Hampshire is starting its work.”
I always wish they would leave off the last two parts.
A capped number, home grow provision would be better than nothing. An unlimited cap would be better.
If we are gonna get fucked in the ass with taxes, might as well drop the State take to 10% and poach business from 17-20% Massachusetts, the latter of which has a pretty severe NIMBY contingent in terms of township sanctioning of pot shops.
I realize it’s a step in the right direction. I just wish a state, any state, would just flat out legalize it. Then there would be state that everyone could point to and say, “Hey, look what they did. And look at all the positive outcomes. Maybe we should try that”
Knock on wood, maybe state #40 to legalise says fuckit, zero regulation. Doubt it though, tax jurisdiction competition is just too irresistible.
LIVE FREE OR DIE!
Matt Simon of the Marijuana Policy Project has raised concerns about the group, noting that none of the six appointed lawmakers have expressed support for legalizing marijuana, and that several other members have voiced opposition.
That’s like naming Hihn the chair of The Ron Paul Institute.
Bully!
*snicker*
Tulpa in charge of a Citizen Police Review Commission?
Dunphy FTW!
Morgan Fairchild approves this message.
Wow. The zebras are really raw dogging KC.
Worse than they did to Philly last Thursday?
Not yet, but I have great hopes in their ability to arbitrarily screw one of the teams on a phantom fartgasm penalty.
Buy the way, Philly looks really strong this year.
*By
Fuck you, Jim Beam.
Well it looks like both teams are now getting away with some b.s.
Shitty officiating all around.
Roadz!.
And like every other ranking system, Alabama is now #1.
I wish Saban would retire. He’s really fucking up the SEC. SEC teams keep firing good coaches because they can’t beat Alabama and the turnover has hurt the league’s overall talent level. We were a lot better league 5 years ago.
What good coaches? Les Miles maybe. But he was an awful clock manager. Fulmer was gone a long time ago. And Richt lost his job for reasons not related to Bama.*
*Unless you surmise it was to hire a Satan protege in Smart.
Chizik won a national championship so he can’t be all that bad. Les even with all his faults is a big improvement compared to Orgeron. I do think that richt was an outstanding coach. And absent a willing Kirby Smart, he wasn’t going anywhere. I think Ole miss completely fucked their program by going all out cheating trying to keep up with Bama.
OT: question for the web development savvy Glibs
I’m looking at doing a Monocle refactor to jQuery and want to use this as an opportunity to do some fun stuff like dynamically load the comments using AJAX (I tried using an iframe, and it ground the computer to a halt. I already have a proof of concept working using AJAX and jQuery) and override the default comment post method so that the full page doesn’t reload on submitting a comment. My question is whether $.post() will allow me to prevent the page reload that is usually triggered from clicking the submit button of a form. I don’t know jQuery at all; I only started with it today, but it’s already 1000x easier than straight JS, so I want to continue with it.
I guess I should explain why I’m asking the question. I hate it when I read an interesting comment, submit a reply, and lose track of which comments I haven’t read below it. Usually, I have to either read the entire comment section before replying, or I have to bite the bullet and read the entirety of the comment section again.

Upset of the week: KU vs. TCU. KU to cover the spread (38.5).
That’s really not a bad bet. For some inexplicable reason, Kansas plays the Frogs horrifyingly close. Plus, both of Kansas’s co-ordinators are hires from TCU, so they’re familiar with the team.
I’m hoping that Shawn Robinson (TCU’s stud 4-star freshman backup) will get some fourth quarter action in a mop-up capacity.
PS: I have a bone to pick with the programmer who’s responsible for those rankings. How can you not have the Frogs ranked at all, even though they’re 6-0 and have road wins against Arkansas, Oklahoma State, and Kansas State.
to be fair, the road win at arkansas is not very impressive.
/disillusioned razorback fan
Its a full season SOS issue. To choose one example, my system is saying that a 9-3 Florida would be better than a 12-0 TCU. That surprises me, but I havent looked at details of TCU schedule. Especially since UCF and USF are ranked.
Marshawn Lynch just lost his mind.
What happened, Raven?
Late hit by KC on the Raiders QB. Whole lot of pushing and shoving. Lynch came off the sidelines to get involved and ended up shoving an official several times. Flagged & ejected. Apparently he left the stadium during half time.
video
Wow. He’ll probably get fined. He’s taken quite well to that raiders Jersey.
Nice game by the Bruins. Preds Flyers also looked pretty solid, that could have gone the other way.
Hey guys and gals. I just read that the IRS is going to enforce the obamacare mandate this year and I will probably be paying around $700 if not more. I work two jobs including as a part time college professor and I am poor as fuck. I was literally planning on spending my tax return on medical expenses (dental work) I’ve been in a lot of pain for months. Trump’s executive order stopping the mandate penalty was the best thing he has done for me. Does anybody know if he can stop it again I can’t find any info. I am so angry right now that $700 is going to be a little less than half of my expected tax return. This is such bullshit and a perfect example of how democrats fuck over the poor.
The Republicans in the senate will have Obamacare amd the individual mandate scrapped any day now. Don’t worry.
I suggest you write an opinion/editorial to your local rag.
IIRC, if you can show that your water bill is in arrears, you will get a “hardship” exemption from the mandate. So basically, stop paying your water bill until you get the shutoff notice. Then pay it, but keep the notice.
pass interference
this ending is something.
Wow! What an ending. My brother owes me fifty bucks. That first Crabtree reception should have been a TD.
I think so.
The Raiders really needed that one. Carr was looking way better tonite. The OC finally gave him some passes.
Straff, if you’re still on did you see the artwork for your story? I must say, I’m very happy how it turned out.
Yeah, that looked wonderful. Not sure what to do with the story, but it was fun to write. Thanks.
I’m also a writer; if you want to bounce some ideas.
And glad you liked it. The ‘subtle’ angle hit right after I commented I wouldn’t do art for it. You thank Swiss for egging me on.
We’re all having a good time here. Giving people the benefit of the doubt is possible thanks to the mods here. Tell you what, if you want to continue the story, feel free to write the next chapter. Or, you could write a new story and let us continue it.
If I’m going to continue the story; I’ll need clarification. I didn’t really get the reference to who the girl and her mother were, and their connection to the scandal.
Lisa Bloom is the lawyer who first defended Harvey. Gloria Allred is her mom and a lawyer famous for defending victims of sexual assault/harassment. I probably went a little too inside baseball on that. Lisa Bloom.
Ok, I’m composing an e-mail now to SP about serializing this as an ongoing thing with authors switching off. An idea that is very interesting.
what linx was chapter 1 in?
Everyone else dreaming sweet dreams of the edit faerie at this point, so I’ll just plop here again.
He brushed aside the Pringle’s crumbs from his Addidas jumper, pulled the coffee table as close as his distended gut would allow. He would show that therapist that could treat himself. Pen in hand, he began to scribble on the complimentary notepad the facility had provided:
“Sure, I like pussy. Sue me. People look at me like I just won the Oscar for Best Supporting Pervert, but why am I to be judged by losers?. These girls come from across the globe, hauling around the only talent they have. Sucking a mogul’s cock. They want me to make them a star. Make them a shit load of cash. Make them famous. Yet, they don’t want to pay the price of admission. This isn’t a fucking charity.
You may think this is immoral, but you aren’t an artist (and yes, I am an artist. I pay the motherfuckers). My cum is the lifeblood of this entire industry. My cum is the fertilizer that causes tremendous growth. You call me a degenerate, but you don’t understand. Call me “sick” if you want because I have no choice. I have this magic elixir inside of me and I have to let it loose on any living organism within arm’s reach.
And that bitch, Hillary? I helped her get millions of women to pull the lever for her and she can’t overlook having a few pull mine? My jizz has created more stars than the big bang. I’ve put the wood in Hollywood and you motherfuckers judge me?”
Something didn’t feel quite right to Harvey. He hurled the note pad at the wall. Something was wrong. There it is; his cock had been rock hard the entire time he’d been writing his manifesto. The Arizona sunset coupled with his pent up rage had resulted in a purple, throbbing pecker. He got up, went into the bathroom and shed his clothes. The complimentary cotton robe beckoned him to slip into it. Perfect. It only circumnavigated three quarters of his bulging gut.
Semi robed, Harvey peered out into the hallway. Where the hell was that Mexican maid? Panic washed over him as he realized he would be wasting his life enhancing potion on the cotton robe. He burst into the hallway, pecker ramrod hard, searching for something alive to squirt into. “There! By the elevator!”. He ripped his robe off and ran toward the elevator. There was the fern he had eyed on his way to his room earlier in the day. As he rigorously pumped the juicy nectar from his shaft, he reached down to stroke the luscious plant. A giant howl of soul crushing pain escaped Harvey’s mouth right as he shot his load. “Nooooooooo. Fucking plastic.”
and, the movie poster style will be kismet for my chapters, as the screenplay is the format I work best in, and will be a nice change up.
*hands baton to CPRM* Run like the wind. Next leg is yours.
Improv!
CPRM – you’re a screenwriter? I have penned a few and I’m working with a friend in LA (I’m in . Ohio now) to develop some stuff.
