Hey, y’all. Its a fun day to be a web junkie. I wonder how many people are wishing someone had just taken Harvey Weinstein around the back of his house and neutered him a decade ago. I, for one, am happy to see the end of the elected official -(D) pass expiring. Being pollyannaish, I hope that women can safely be allowed near male elected officials without being groped, kissed, or fondled without giving consent. The cynic in me thinks Franken gets thrown to the wolves to keep Biden from having to take a fall.
Here’s one slimy bastard who should have been convicted, walking free for a bit longer. Having a juror bail and then talk about the case before the trial ended reeks of a setup, but it could just be stupidity.
I’m not sure if the Sheriff in this case is right or wrong about his interpretation of the Disorderly Conduct statute in Texas, but going on social media and saying, “call my office and let’s talk about it” seems like a not-entirely-jackbooted way of dealing with something he’s getting regular complaints from his voters about.
I’m guessing this Ohio state rep was found drinking mineral water with another man.
Some pretty cool materials science shit from that other college in Texas that puts industrial-scale nuclear fusion only 20 years away.
More private space flight accomplishments.
I mean, I hate to stereotype, but this song is for former Rep. Wes Goodman.
Everybody was grabbing tits and ass. What the hell was I thinking keeping my hands to myself?
You were probably thinking of running for public office one day.
Or just busy being a decent man.
It certainly can’t be both.
Bravo
Wake me up when it happens.
“At this time, we’re twenty years away from viable nuclear fusion reactors, and always will be.”
Or something.
It’s directly correlated to the advent of USMT soccer domination.
*immediately places shorts on the party balloon industry*
Lederhosen? Running shorts? Daisy Dukes?
When he says ‘party balloon’ he really means ‘inflatable sex doll’ so crotchless panties or chaps, depending on the mood of the day.
I’d like to see a chicks in chaps pictorial or film…
you can’t inflate a sex doll with helium, if any of the gas escapes it sounds like a child. or so I’ve been told.
it sounds like a child.
…depending on the mood of the day?
You don’t need fusion when you’ve got this!

HAHAHAHA!
Go Gophers!
Thought this was about beer drinking.
Interesting that getting “youth” interested in science is happening at colleges instead of elementary schools.
I know what me and my kids are doing this weekend!
Right after their gator wrasslin’ lessons?
In a previous life, I did research on synthetic metals. The running line was, “It’s the technology of the future and always will be.”
When asked about what his research had produced, my prof answered, “Quite a few Ph.D.s.”
Working theory, just spitballin’ here: the Wooderson character from Dazed and Confused is loosely based on Roy Moore.
That’s what I love about these high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age.
..
Same shit man, workin for the city.
In NJ, that’s an even 50%/50% chance.
Everyone in NJ knows he’s corrupt as hell. But they keep on electing him. I doubt a Dem will have the balls to challenge him in the primary next year.
Similar to how the mayor of Allentown (Ed Pawlowski) just got re-elected while under federal indictment for corruption.
http://www.lehighvalleylive.com/allentown/index.ssf/2017/11/allentown_mayor_election_pawlo.html
That’s how you know all the decent people left town.
They never taught the people what was real.
Iron and coal and chromium steel.
They think they are in Baltimore.
One of them is in San Antonio and is married to me.
I’m guessing this Ohio state rep was found drinking mineral water with another man.
“Goodman apologized in wake of the scandal and requested privacy moving forward.”
There’s something nice about meddling politicians realizing the value of “privacy”, no?
“”I’m going to get help. Tomorrow I’m entering don’t-forcibly-grope-people rehab. When I get out, I’m going to spend some time with my loving family. And….” *whispers sideways* “What was the other bullshit thing I’m supposed to say?”
What was that third thing?
Cool link, bro.
I was not trying to summon Edit Færie.
The best part of those is the supportive and long-suffering wife standing next to he politician looking like she’s pretending not to have a kidney removed without anesthetic while her husband flatly states “I realize now that doing a line of cocaine off of the broad, throbbing cock of a Thai ladyboy in my congressional office was inappropriate”
They married a politician. They knew what they there getting into. I say let’em crash.
I’d put money on them getting married well before he went into politics. Wes Goodman is in his early 30s and a family values Republican
Chuck Schumer went into political campaigning straight out of law school.
Chuck Schumer is a massive, authoritarian, nanny, cunt.
Wikipedia doesn’t have spousal information. Goodman has only been in office since late 2016 though and that only because he was seated early.
Given the history of politicians, it seems like asking your spouse if it is OK to run for public office should be treated like asking for an open marriage.
Even if they manage to keep it in their pants, they are still fucking other people.
The inappropriate part is because the coke and ladyboy aren’t Made in Murica enough. Should have stuck to homegrown meth.
Forgot the #MAGA
I actually felt bad for Jim McGreevey’s wife.
No one did an insincere apology like Ryan Leaf
bah…..meant to link directly to the apology bit
Nah… Sheridan.
Sheridan.
meddling politicians
There’s another kind?
It’s like assless chaps, grrizz: sure chaps are assless by definition, but when you really want to paint that mental image you can’t just say chaps.
Politicians are by definition meddling, but if you just say “politicians” people might think mendacious, venal, self-aggrandizing or a whole host of other adjectives before you get to
asslessmeddling.Getting some of these cooled down for Review,

Cool. I can get to booze related links at work now.
I’m drinking Stella Artois “Cidre” and regretting not buying better-tasting cider.
Too good for Smith & Forge?
Mmmm… I love me some S&F
Never seen it. When I get cider, I mostly drink their booze, or my guilty pleasure of Swedish ciders whenever I find them. I was feeling lazy and the “Cidre” was an acceptable price.
Boy am I out of touch. That shit’s in the “walk right past and don’t bother browsing” section.
When I want cider, I normally go for this.
I see Crispin from time to time.
Yeah, it’s one of those “acceptable” ciders if it’s served impossibly cold on a hot summer’s day. Otherwise, don’t bother (although it makes a passable roast chicken in cider pan gravy).
Buskey!
I’ll have to try that next time I visit my dad.
I hope that happens, but I don’t see that unless Biden was getting heat from his own side for his antics. People on the anti-left calling out Biden isn’t going to move the needle very much.
We already have NYT reporters dismissing pics of uncle Joe getting handsy with little girls as right wing news.
Pics? Try videos.
From C-Span. Not the ‘alt right’.
https://twitter.com/RAMRANTS/status/930105518814720000
Obviously fake news.
It isn’t just the NYT – there was a jackass on the The Federalist the other day explaining that intent is what matters. While it is probably valid that Uncle Joe is no Harvey Weinstein, it’s funny how the some people get a pass on behavior that would be the end for others.
When I hear lefties freak out about Trump’s pussy grabbing comments, I always wonder if they seriously think that Bill Clinton never did or said anything like that.
The team affiliation is all that matters.
The media are no doubt sitting on ample proof of it.
The cynic in me thinks Franken gets thrown to the wolves
My cynic must be a lot more cynical than yours, because he thinks this will be blamed on Trump.
Following Rufus’ link down the rabbit hole, I see your cynic is already correct.
I mean, I hate to stereotype, but this song is for former Rep. Wes Goodman.
Soooo one of my straight friends needed someone to go with her to watch them and they’re a hell of a lot of fun live. #NoHomo
#wellmaybejustatadhomo
They write excellent pop songs, though.
I’m thoroughly enjoying the next couple of tracks after that link, Sneaker Pimps-Six Feet Down and Garbage-Only Happy When it Rains so far. #MaybeMoreThanJustATadHomo
^^^
Sneaker Pimps have been on heavy rotation on sirius lithium this week.
Great stuff. I remember flying to Italy and this was on the inflight loop. Still dig them.
What’s weird is they dropped the lead singer after their first single and one of the guys took over, so there’s video of him doing their main hit and it just doesn’t come together well at all.
Unfortunate. I thought it was a nice mix.
If you are a Garbage fan, Rogan did a fun episode with Shirley Manson. I could listen to that woman talk all damn day.
I assume this is what conservatives assumed would happen in Target bathrooms.
Too well dressed and fit.
Let’s jump genres.
I was expecting the next track to be this, but I guess it’s not much of a genre hop.
Good one.
Here’s a classic.
Welp, now I’m just letting YouTube go nuts with Bowie, so thanks for that.
Well, Spotify is giving me Shirley ear-gasms so it’s only fair.
How cool is that picture of Bowie?
assumed would happen in Target bathrooms.
You mean I been wasting my time hanging out there?
How cool is that picture of Bowie?
I mean, effortlessly cool was sort of his thing.
Have you tried tapping your toes in there?
Have you tried tapping your toes in there?
Only works at MSP.
Looks like the House passed the tax reform bill. Place your bets on how long it takes the Senate to kill it.*
*If this seems like deja-vu, you must’ve watched the Obamacare repeal process.
My question for the Republicans in Congress is this:
“You obviously don’t want to be in Congress any more. Why not just resign, instead of going through the humiliation of having your base either primary you out of office, or stay home and watch you lose to a Democrat?”
I’d rather see the primaries happen. We’ll have a better tax reform proposal later, and w fairer shot at ACA repeal.
“Because getting voted out is pretty rare and the longer I’m in office, the deeper the network of pull I can bring to bear as a lobbyist/crony after leaving office.”
How else are they going to participate in insider trading without consequence?
They’re dying to give that concession speech. It’s their money shot.
What odds are you giving? I have $2.
Lol. I’ll have to back out of the phrase “place your bets”, as past experience informs me I’m a terrible gambler apt to lose at whatever odds.
I agree.
“I’m guessing this Ohio state rep was found drinking mineral water with another man.”
It was so very.
Another band that knows its way around a pop song.
More tales from Japan: morning news had CCTV footage of a taxi driver getting robbed at knifepoint. The knife was blurred out.
You wouldn’t want to give other knives any ideas.
I guess Japanese tv also has the innocent until the inanimate object is convicted in a court of law policy.
Only samurai are allowed to have blades.
Who says it was a knife, anyway? Because if I seem some video of a guy being robbed in Japan with a blurred out handheld object about 8 inches long, “knife” isn’t my first guess.
8 inches? In Japan? It’d take two for what I think you’re saying.
injection-molded rubber cocks.
Japan, bro. Octopus arms.
Great band name.
Obviously it was a penis.
They do not like to show possible insertion.
This gets me horny.
Yeah, baby!
Don’t blame you. Decent beer and spaceships.
I realize these guys aren’t much better in squeezing taxpayer money to enrich themselves department, but for all you Musk/Tesla haters: Fisker files patents on battery extending EV range to 500mi.
First off, that car actually looks like something worth driving. I’m somewhat inclined to believe the can do it, since Fisker is an actual car guy with actual experience in the auto industry. I still doubt the infrastructure upgrades needed for electric vehicles to be commonplace are going to happen anytime soon.
I swear, I thought Fisker had gone out of business. I thought I read an article about somebody buying up their unsold stock and putting crate engines in them. Which would be awesome.
I know a couple of guys who work there. They’re definitely still in business.
I recall a similar chain of events. They had a huge run that had issues when a hurricane hit a freighter while in port and effectively ruined the drivetrains. There were some other gearheads that dropped Chevy smallblock V8s into them. They are now backed by a Chinese investment firm.
That was Bob Lutz and another guy along with Henirck. They did some redesign to the front end and are marketing it as some other vehicle whose name I forget. Nice sedan but it’s not as attractive without the mustache. I predict the Karma is going to be a good long term bet, they’re holding value quite well all things considered. I might have to get one…
Its the charge times that get me most. I don’t want to wait around for 30-60 minutes each time I need to “fill up.”
the only other thing that would stop me is cold temps. batteries used just for starting combustion engines do not like the cold. now we want to use them to travel? not that they shouldn’t be available, or even very nice in areas that don’t have cold winters.
Yeah, I know that’s why I commented on it.
Sorry. Didn’t get enough sleep.
Can I get you some cocaine?
*waggles eyebrows lasciviously*
But I don’t even like mineral water.
I’ll believe these claims when they are demonstrated in reality.
Yeah, 500 mile range is quite plausible. One-minute recharge times, not so much. Unless they have truly revolutionary battery tech, in which case they should ditch the cars and concentrate on where there are trillions to be made.
This.
I was thinking the other day about how to gauge driving costs between electric and gas. This is real back-of-the-envelope stuff but I think that it’s in the ballpark.
Say your electric car is 100HP. That is about 75kW. Run it for one hour and you have consumed 75kWHr of energy. If electricity costs $0.10 per kWHr then that hour costs you $7.50.
100HP for a car is a pretty small engine but you’re not using much energy going down the road, but let’s say that engine gives 20MPG at a highway speed of 60MPH. That’s three gallons of gas per hour. Gas around here is about $2.20 so that hour costs $6.60.
Even in this apples to crabapples comparison, I’m not seeing any great savings.
Also, RC is right. Transferring 100’s of kWHrs in a minute is getting into lightning-strike territory. Not seeing it.
… Hobbit
What you’re missing, Hobbit, is all the public recharge stations that let you top off your glorified golf cart for free (to you).
Hobbit, you have to remember that the power use is not constant.
When cruising along at speed you’ll be using far less than the max power its capable of producing.
On level ground at 60mph I think the Model S uses around 18kWh, so it would be about $1.8 for an hour on the highway vs the 6.60
Of course the Model S does have a rather low drag coefficient, so if you stick its batteries and motors in a more normal car it would require more power to maintain the same speed.
Go by miles, not time. On that basis it might come out closer to even.
” I still doubt the infrastructure upgrades needed for electric vehicles to be commonplace are going to happen anytime soon.”
Attitudes like that are what cause government subsidies
Now that I could get behind. But I would keep a fuel vehicle as a backup.

WTF??
Old news man, everybody’s got one of those nowadays.
Apparently there’s a second grope-ee about to drop the hammer on Senator Franken.
It was the 80’s in New York!
Everybody was getting groped by Al Franken.
Everybody was getting groped by Al Franken.
“Ewwwwwww, gross!” /teenage niece
In the 80s it would have been “grody to the max”.
True, but my niece wasn’t even alive in the 80s. 😉
When he ran in 2008 one of his biggest challenges was the feminists. A lot of them were really pissed that he had made rape jokes back in his days working at SNL. He completely groveled for them and licked their boots. To have it turn out that they were right is great.
did something happen?
(checks news)
– Bob Menedez hung jury. meh.
– Shooting in Cali lesson? Gun laws in cali not strong enuf
– Congress debates oil drilling in largest US wildlife refuge: i am shocked and outraged. never mind that we have oil drilling ops for decades in dozens of other places where wild things are. this one is the bad one and news because GOP
– Russia vetoes US resolution on Syria chemical weapons use. “”This will be a serious blow to efforts to hold those responsible for chemical weapons attacks in Syria accountable””
lol. because what’s been stopping us so far from lobbing cruise missiles at them/funding-arming their rebels was a lack of UN resolutions.

“EXCLUSIVE: How Sylvester Stallone was accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old fan: Police report reveals girl claimed star made her give him and his bodyguard oral sex and threatened they would ‘beat her head in’ if she ever told
The girl claims Stallone’s bodyguard Michael ‘Mike’ De Luca, who was in the bathroom until Stallone brought him out, ‘forced’ her to give him oral sex
After performing oral sex on De Luca for some time, the teen claims he penetrated her while she was made to perform oral sex on Stallone”

Boy, I think we’re gonna need a Hollywood prison to jail all these fuckers!
The nastiest part of the whole thing is that it happened at the Las Vegas Hilton.
I went to a wedding there 2 years ago. the casino and …most of the hotel, really, shows its age. its a tad more-obviously-seedy than its peers. Fortunately we had the Elvis suite
Old news. We looked at it in the comments already. No allegation of coercion, above the age of consent, refused to file charges when asked.
Regret-sex isn’t rape, sweetie.
It isn’t, but it reads “forced”. Not that I’m saying it’s true.
“Forced” is pretty vague. Colloquially, I have said I have been “forced” to attend any number of events, but there was no violence or threats involved. I’d like to know some specifics. I would expect the Vegas police asked for those specifics, and since they didn’t indict, I assume that they didn’t get anything terribly compelling. Or, they covered up for a star.
And that’s the thing – the Vegas police took a report. I bet that report is still around. What does it say?
“What does it say?”
Are you challenging us?
Why would he challenge us? Could he be channeling his inner Judge Nap?
For us to use our imagination about what could be in the report!
Is their report on the Mandalay Bay shooter still around?
the story linked in the previous thread asserted that she stated that he never threatened her
asking for advice to pass along to the teen
“Brush your teeth, rinse your nethers with a strong douche, and see a doctor for some antibiotics.”
Sound advice right there.
We’ll, if we find her with her head beat in, we’ll know it was true.
New Fleccas at UCLA for Ben Shapiro
I didn’t know it was out because youtube decided to make his new videos not show up for me, even though I’m subscribed. youtube still says it’s a glitch, but who knows.
this one didn’t have as much derp. the progressives are starting to just avoid the interviewers.
you need to go to all the channels you never see updates for, and click the little bell on the right on their mainpage
they still won’t pop up in your recommends, but you’ll be notified when new things come out
ah! i thought I had done that for all of my peoples. Maybe I missed fleccas.
Thanks Gilmore!
“A pro-military billboard put up by a gun range in southern New Jersey has been declared “racist” by several activists, including the local chapter of the NAACP and a progressive feminist group, because it takes a shot at the national anthem protests. Despite mounting pressure, the gun range has stood by their message, saying it has “nothing to do with race” and everything to do with expressing “support for our veterans.””
http://www.dailywire.com/news/23648/heres-gun-range-billboard-liberal-activists-are-james-barrett
Of course its racist. The shooter’s silhouette is black.
Missed an opportunity there. I would have gone with “You want our billboard? Molon labe, motherfuckers.”

Wow.

+1 Afroman. Oh wait, that was a random female asshole. Never mind.
that was nice, but i resent the fact that i ever clicked on anything TYT related
The commentator with the glasses is a total pussy.
I see him on Classic Turner movie channel – whatever it it’s called and the odd video mocking The Young Turks.
So it sounds like he’s a prog.
So no surprise he goes with the ‘fists are weapons’ crap.
Ben Mankiewicz. Grandson of Herman who wrote the Citizen Kane screenplay and grand-nephew of Joe.
A Pussy with prolific anscestors.
I don’t mind Ben. For being a TYT, he doesn’t get hysterical too much. He’s not a bad host on TCM, either.
Yeah, I didn’t even know about his TYT connection until I was looking him up for my most recent videos. I was only familiar with him from TCM before and he was pretty interesting in person at the film festival last week. Threw in a gag or two at Trump for an intro of “The Immigrant” – pretty much just  – but decent knowledge base.
Interesting article at The Atlantic on a New Zealand initiative to eradicate certain invasive mammals (rats, stoats, etc) from the islands. Has an interesting, albeit slightly alarmist, aside about using gene drives in genetic engineering to, theoretically, quickly alter large portions of a population of a species by inserting a dominant trait that is passed to all offspring (such as a trait that all offspring are male). The gene drive stuff sounds like something that should be used sparingly if it achieves the purported effects, as attempts to radically alter an environment can often have unpleasant unintended consequences. It also interests me that New Zealand feels it has enough of a rat problem to potentially pour billions into an effort to fight it.
Obigatory
Well, the rats are a massive issue for ground-nesting birds – and since they’re still “snek-free” there’s a bit of a gap in the food chain. And I think most of the rats, etc were introduced artificially through shipping, etc. originally vs being there naturally.
Why did it have to be Phil Hartman?

Yo. I’m out of surgery and pissing blood and I can’t take the good pain medicine for another few hours because of the fucking government forcing acetaminophen into them since I already took Tylenol when I got home because it was the only thing I had.
But at least this Al Franken thing is bringing me joy.
I want Arrec Baldwin to get his comeuppance too.
There is ZERO chance Alec Baldwin didn’t harrass somebody over the years
Awww. Feel better.
Do I sense a touch of sarcasm?
Nah. I deserve no pity. People have it far worse. Just updating and laughing.
Nope. Just actual sympathy. (I’m the nice Glib. Except to Doom.)
*sad walk*
Oh, OK, I take it back.
I’m still a sinner.
tangentially related, but your comment made me think about it.
A friend of mine had a stroke about three months ago. He’s 24. He was in the hospital with a bunch of complications and surgeries until 2 weeks ago or so (cool looking scars on his head now!).
he just went on a little rant on facebook about how he’s sick of people complaining about bullshit. “you guys are all whining about traffic or how your boyfriend forgot flowers and I FUCKING NEARLY DIED. get over yourselves.”
he hadn’t really talked about his situation in any “look at me!” way while he was in the hospital. just high hopes and updates.
I do hope you feel better soon, though. I’m sure you’re in a good deal of pain, and hope the meds work wonders.
Sorry to hear about your friend. His recovery is going along good or too early to tell?
Yeah, he’s doing much better now. he said the hardest part was catching up on news and his internet memes, as funny as that is. he also lost a bunch of weight. He has the best sense of humor, and I think that really helped.
we will see as time goes on.
You’ll regret that when he’s dead tomorrow morning.
Or not.
But at least this Al Franken thing is bringing me joy.
I know I never laughed at him during his comedy career as much as I have in the last couple of days.
It took less than 24 hours for him to go from complaining about jokes about bacon to having to defend his sex assault allegations as a bad joke.
I hope the meds make up for lost time!
feel better JB.
Get well soon.
Feel better, JB.
Scotch is a painkiller, too. Just sayin’.
Not with acetaminophen! No!
“Ask your doctor.”
Actually he’d probably be completely fine getting another hit of acetaminophen from the Norco (I’m guessing you got a whole lot of 5-325, JB?). I wouldn’t go crazy with it, but IIRC, the high Tylenol thing is for *very* high doses once or long-term careless combination of acetaminophen and opioid/APAP blends common with chronic pain sufferers.
That said this is in no way medical advice and you’re probably better off keeping your liver extra safe for when your kids become teenagers and you *really* need to abuse it to get them through HS.
Yes. Acetaminophen sucks.
I was merely offering an alternative.
But at least this Al Franken thing is bringing me joy.
Take joy in what you can.
I hope you heal up soon.,
This week’s review: https://youtu.be/Gc39xXZrYUc – VA Film Festival Round-up. Miike just isn’t making them like he used to…I’m not gonna say he’s the next Uwe Boll – his live action anime/manga adaptations are really starting to feel like it.
So I’m writing a research paper for a class I’m in, and I’ve decided to write about the Ponzi Scheme that is Social Security. However, I’m not sure where to look for evidence to back up how Social Security money that isn’t paid out to people on the dole is spent elsewhere. Is there a record of how the money brought in for Social Security is spent or something similar that I can use? Thanks to anyone who can help.
However, I’m not sure where to look for evidence to back up how Social Security money that isn’t paid out to people on the dole is spent elsewhere.
Look here, for starters. It contains this surprisingly frank admission of their money laundering for the Treasury:
And this:
AFAIK, SS only promises to take the money and buy treasury bonds?
there is nothing about ever paying out.
scotus has ruled their is no right to ss payments. it is legally a tax and a separate transfer payment.
Which is why it may be taxed once again when disbursed to the recipient.

Any Drupal people here? I’ve only used it in a very, very basic way. Anything I should know to get started? I’m pretty advanced with WordPress – what are the significant differences? I won’t be doing anything heavy duty with Drupal (not developing any plugins or whatever they’re called in Drupal-world or stuff like that).
Only advice I can give you on using Drupal is “don’t”.
I know it’s not what you want to hear, but I can’t think of any single Drupal feature that’s not better implemented in WordPress. Modules are less easy to work with, it does allow multi-site install but then ties them up together in horrible ways, content creation is harder …
There’s a reason the product logo looks like a smug testicle.
I thought it was the Patriarchy that made all testicles smug.
No choice. I will be getting paid to use it in 3 weeks, whether I like it or not.
I have a friend who has done CMS work for years, who tries to avoid Drupal, primarily because of the number of times that the ‘user community’ modules that people rave about tend to be at best, mediocre and have let him down, so if there’s a crumb of advice I can provide, it’s that you should maintain and rely on a well curated UAT platform.
Also, the CMS I was using in my last job was closed & proprietary. It was the shittiest thing I’ve ever been forced to use on the internets, ever. It was some kind of bastard offshoot of Moveable Type called Advantage CMS.
There was a good article about this on Scott Greenfield’s website this morning. Both the sheriff and DA are jackbooted assholes.

Grandparents are monsters.
Could the study separate the impact of the grandparents providing child care because they had to replace dysfunctional parents?
I think it was mostly a crazy study that has a goal of leading to more money for further studies. Even the authors of the study seem to think that their stats were BS.
Grandparents are tool of the patriarchy! Single moms and minorities hardest hit.
I miss my grandparents.

What is it that makes the Scottish governing class extra nanny-statish?
Funny you should bring that up. There’s a discussion of that very subject at samizdata.net, seeded by the topic of the proposed new minimum-unit-pricing laws for alcohol.
The consensus is that the political class really despises the proles..
That rings a bell.
It’s SHITE being Scottish!
Damn Scots, they ruined Scotland!

It’s more that he who GIFs most is otherwise occupied. We are most grateful for your contributions on this front.
Sure you are, just like how you were grateful for my awesome logo designs. So grateful in fact that you went with the bastard son of Milburn Pennybags and Mr Pringle and Mr Peanut and Colonel Klink instead but i’m not bitter. Nope not st all. I’m just happy to help. Fookin tickled to be honest.
You see why they did it, to listen to you bitch forever about it, (:
I’m just trying to get on Bacon’s obsession list.
You’re doing God’s work, son. 😉
Swiss will be back soon. I’m sure your gifs will get some air time then.
The media has declared that Franken’s groping is not REAL groping, you know, like if a Rethuglican did it.
Not sure if this has been linked or not, but this is pretty damn good. Could a leftist learn something from this? No.

Hundreds more US troops now in Somalia, but Pentagon denies ‘build up’

The Pentagon announced in a statement Thursday there are now “more than” 500 US troops on the ground in Somalia.
A significant increase from early 2014 when roughly two dozen troops arrived for the first time since 1993 and the Black Hawk Down incident.
US Africa Command says there have been 28 airstrikes this year, mostly from drones against al-Shabaab, long considered the greatest terror threat in Africa.
At a press conference Thursday at the Pentagon, a top defense official denied any “ramp-up.”
“I do not believe necessarily there’s a ramp-up,” said Lt. Gen. Kenneth F. McKenzie, Jr., director of the Pentagon’s Joint Staff when asked about the spike in airstrikes in Somalia. “It’s the density of targets is such that now there’s some of opportunities to do those strikes.”
The US military recently conducted six straight days of airstrikes in Somalia from last Thursday to Tuesday.

School nixes boy’s ‘Fake News’ T-shirt on field trip to CNN

A Georgia family is under fire for allowing a seventh grader to wear a T-shirt that mocked liberal news network CNN on a school field trip to CNN’s Atlanta headquarters — but the boy’s parents think the school violated the First Amendment by making their son take it off.
Nancy and Stan Jester, of Dekalb, are both local elected officials, she a county commissioner and he is a member of the local school board. Their son, seventh-grader Jaxon, wore a shirt mocking the CNN logo as “FNN” with the caption, “Fake News Network.”
A teacher asked him to remove it before the tour, but the school has since apologized to the Jesters. However, the parents want an apology for Jaxon because, they say, the whole thing was his idea and he has the right to free speech.
“This year when the CNN tour was announced, my 7th grade son Jaxon asked me if he could purchase an FNN-Fake News Network shirt to wear for his field trip,” Stan Jester wrote in a blog post. “As an advocate for the First Amendment, I agreed to his request.”
Jester continued: “His mother cautioned him that he might cause a controversy and needed to be prepared for that. He was fully aware of the implications of his decision and made the affirmative choice to wear his shirt.”
The boy’s father wrote that he is “disappointed by the hypocrisy” of the decision to make his son change his shirt.
“Some students are celebrated when they make a controversial display during the National Anthem. My student was forced to remove his shirt because someone didn’t like it. I defend speech and expression, even if I disagree, or it makes me uncomfortable,” he wrote.

The real shame is that not every student is wearing one. Public school certainly has done it’s job of creating a generation of dumbed down compliant sheep, very well.
They should bankrupt the administrators in the resulting 1A case, but unfortunately the Supreme Court has implemented the Public School Exemption Clause of the Constitution.
Aw… a l’il budding shitlord.
We should invite him to Glibs and seal the deal.
How Democrats Are Responding to the Franken Assault Allegation
Sen. Joe Manchin: “Well, I’m sure he’ll be talking to us at the caucus…I just want to hear from Al. I just want to hear Al’s explanation. We owe that to Al.”
Franken’s apology is for the behavior we have photographic evidence of. His denial is for behavior, by the same woman, that is a “he said, she said” situation.
Goddammit, he should be going down for getting fraudulently elected, but apparently the only two crimes in politics are being a Republican and being a creep (bonus points for both).
Good point. Al Capone and tax evasion. At least he gets nailed.
I’ll be curious to see if Senators McConnell and Glioblastoma call for an ethics investigation.
Can we just change the name from Stupid Party to Pussy Party? What about Stupid Pussy Party? The left keep nudging left, gaining an inch at a time, the GOP just want the status quo, no matter what they status quo now is. Never any push back. Let’s just make a soap opera out of it named ‘The Way the Goalpost Moves’.
Agreed, they’re spineless, worthless, dickless, and brainless. I don’t care for Moore but I hope he wins and the GOP establishment goes down in flames because fuck them.
They should refuse to let him take a place in the Senate.
“I just want to hear Al’s explanation. We owe that to Al.”
Are they saying the same about Roy Moore? These fucking people are insufferable hypocrites.
Aww, the Mitch gang just wants to make money off of the base. Give them anything at all, however, and no more fancy cocktail parties.

The Making of an American Nazi
How did Andrew Anglin go from being an antiracist vegan to the alt-right’s most vicious troll and propagandist—and how might he be stopped?

Anglin was one of only two vegans at Linworth, and before long he began dating the other, a brunette named Alison in the class ahead of him, whom he wooed by baking vegan cookies. She was a popular girl who introduced him to a diverse and edgy clique of kids. To them, Anglin seemed sweet and funny, if a little too eager to latch on to causes. Alison was deeply into animal rights. Suddenly, he was too.
He also got deeply into drugs, according to half a dozen people who knew him at the time. He did LSD at school or while wandering through the scenic Highbanks Metro Park, north of the city. He took ketamine, ate psychedelic mushrooms, and snorted cocaine on weekends. He chugged Robitussin, and “robo tripped” so much that he damaged his stomach and would vomit into trash cans at school.
At home, Anglin spent hours in his parents’ basement downloading music and visiting early Flash-animation sites. According to Cameron Loomis, a former friend, Anglin’s favorite online destination was Rotten.com, which collected images of mangled corpses, deformities, and sexual perversions.
Anglin set up his own website, for a fake record label called “Andy Sucks! Records” that he used to dupe bands into sending him demo tapes. Here, his leftist leanings were on full display: He wrote posts encouraging people to send the Westboro Baptist Church death threats from untraceable accounts, and he mocked the Ku Klux Klan and other racist organizations. He wasn’t so different, back then, from the antifascist activists who would one day protest outside his dad’s office.
But people who knew Anglin in high school told me that, for reasons that were unclear, his behavior became erratic and frightening sometime around the beginning of his sophomore year at Linworth. Visitors to his house saw holes in his bedroom walls, and they knew that when he was upset, he would smash his head into things. Several recall an episode at a party: Anglin burst out crying after Alison drunkenly kissed someone else, then ran outside and bashed his head on the sidewalk over and over.

I think the lesson here is that crazy people never become sane. They just because become crazy in different way.

“vegan”
Not enough protein for a large brain, there’s your issue.
Being run-of-the-mill hipster scum wasn’t unique enough for Anglin anymore, so how could he make himself edgier and cooler than those other, cuckier progs? Ah, yes, be a Nazi prog!
All Anglin did was channel his leftism in a different way, that’s all.
International Socialism has gotten too mainstream, so he was into national socialism before it was cool.
Norm MacDonald is still one of my all-time faves. Partly because he doesn’t really give a crap about politics.
Here’s a quote from an interview this July: “My theory is this: People hated Hillary Clinton so much that they voted for someone they hated more than Hillary Clinton in order to rub it in.”
In the same interview he said (regarding the McKinnon “hallelujah” thing):
He has a really good new hour or so long standup on Netflix if you’re not aware.
I have seen it! And I concur, it is very good.
I met him when I was a senior at Oklahoma State University and we brought him in to perform at a national meeting of Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society. I have a lovely pic of him with a group of us students in which he has his arm around me in which his hand is suspiciously close to my boob. (To be fair, I was wearing a turtleneck shirt and had a magnificent set of sweater kittens, and was much narrower in the waist back then.) I found it very flattering.
He was very kind to all us Tau Betes and hung out with us for beers after the gig. He never crossed a line with any of the students. Much respect & fondness for Norm.
Oh, sorry; I am mixing up Orange Peel 1996 with the Tau Beta Pi national convention. That’s because Tau Beta Pi helped org the Orange Peel. Good fun.

Life expectancy
A gladiator might expect to fight in two or three munera annually, and an unknown number would have died in their first match. Few gladiators survived more than 10 contests, though one survived an extraordinary 150 bouts;[121] and another died at 90 years of age, presumably long after retirement.[122] A natural death following retirement is also likely for three individuals who died at 38, 45, and 48 years respectively.[115] George Ville, using evidence from 1st century gladiator headstones, calculated an average age at death of 27, and mortality “among all who entered the arena” at 19/100.[123] Marcus Junkelmann disputes Ville’s calculation for average age at death; the majority would have received no headstone, and would have died early in their careers, at 18–25 years of age.[124] Between the early and later Imperial periods the risk of death for defeated gladiators rose from 1/5 to 1/4, perhaps because missio was granted less often.[123] Hopkins and Beard tentatively estimate a total of 400 arenas throughout the Roman Empire at its greatest extent, with a combined total of 8,000 deaths per annum from executions, combats and accidents.

The era of the ancient Roman gladiators saw a number of popular bestiarius; a profession that was notorious for ridiculously short life expectancy, even by the standards of gladiators. Being a celebrated bestiarius, Carpophorus was instinctively gifted in fights involving wild animals. He was far more skilled at fighting different animals in the arena than at fighting in extensive hand-to-hand combats against fellow gladiators. Carpophorus would routinely face off against vicious wild animals such as lions, bears, leopards and rhinos. He even fought at the opening of the famed Flavian Amphitheatre and defeated a horde of bear, lion and leopard in a single battle. He also killed a rather ferocious Rhino with a single spear in another face off. But his personal best and the crowd favorite performance came when he killed 20 different beasts in a single battle.

Flamma is one of the biggest names in the history of ancient Roman gladiators. Of course, his true name wasn’t Flamma – which was his ‘battle’ name. But this skillful athlete absolutely justified his name with his track record as a fearsome gladiator. Before his career as a gladiator started, he was a Syrian soldier who got captured and thrown into a battle against a powerful adversary to meet a quick death. Ultimately, he did meet his end, but not after commanding an unparalleled domination against countless enemies in the grand arena of the Coliseum. Using a small sword and a shield, and armor on one half of his body, he terrorized his opponents for about 13 years in battles that attracted the biggest number of spectators. By the time he died at the age of 30, he had fought an astounding thirty four battles, twenty one of which he had won, nine were drawn and he had lost in only four of them. He was even awarded with the “rudis” along with his freedom on four different occasions. But each time, he declined the offer and continued to pursue his life as a warrior.

Dear Glibs,
A few weeks ago I talked on here about about being nominated to the negotiating team for the union contract that I and another 500 people work under. The vote for who is going to be on that team is happening right now.
I will probably win. There is a stong contingent of people who both nominated and gunned up support of me.
This is not something I necessarily want to do, yet I am willing to devote my full attention and capabilities if selected.
I may have to lean on you Glibs in the coming months for advice about this. I thank yall in advance
You know who else was a union leader?

obliterate fourteen souls
They can obliterate the undying souls of their victims? That’s dark.
The biblical definition of soul is different from current usage.
***
Yesterday we introduced the intriguing subject of life after death or what is a soul? What happens to an individual when death comes? This is a question that has perplexed people right down through the ages. What is the soul?
We’re going back to Genesis 2:7 to get God’s definition of a soul. Now friends, God knows. We may not know and understand it all, but He certainly has the answer for us. Notice this text. “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Now here’s God’s own definition of it, friends. Let no man think that he can improve on it. We might put it in a little formula like this: BODY + BREATH = SOUL. That’s all there is to it. A body plus the breath of life and we no longer have a body and a breath but we have a combination known as a “soul.” That’s the first and general definition in the Bible concerning a soul. We are souls. I’m a soul. You’re a soul. A living, walking, talking, living human being is a soul.

I’m gonna need a rabbi for this, Truth About Death is a project of Amazing Facts a project by one “Pastor Doug.” And while I appreciate plain reading of an English translation of a Latin translation of a Greek translation of a Hebrew text as the very essence of modern religious thought, I’d maybe like a little exegetical effort expended on the biblical definition of soul.
I’m not a rabbi, but I did sit through many years of one lecturing me in Hebrew school.
The English does get in the way of understanding the ancient Hebrew understanding of the soul, which was closer to the multipart Egyptian concept than say, the classical Greek. If you take Genesis 2:7 it basically reads like this:
And God formed a man (adam, meaning man or human) from the red clay (ha-adamah, adam is a homonym and synonym of “blood” and “red clay soil”) and breathed into his nostrils the spirit of life (neshama, the animative force. Equivalent to the Greek pneuma or Latin anima) and the man became a sentient being (nefesh chayyah).
Where as most modern people use the term “soul” to refer to the neshama, it was identified with the nefesh in earlier times.
Do we have a THE MORE YOU KNOW star in the media library? We probably should.
THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!

What source is this that routinely jumps between terms like “Fedayeen”, “Mujahid(een)”, “Suspected ISIS”, “Sunni terrorists”, “fundamentalists” “gunmen”, and (lol) “Islamic Hardliners” … all to describe basically the exact same category of people.
‘useless specificity’ is a bad thing

To summarize: admittedly questionable workmanship on an isolated area of the pipeline that caused a leak was contained within fifteen minutes nowhere near a water source and the resulting public pressure will in all likelihood ensure more stringent saftey measures in the future.
The response, predictably: proof of imminent doom and a demand for a complete hault to all construction and oil transportation.
