I have known of the movie Zardoz since I was a kid but never watched it until last night, and I must say, “Huh?” Exterminators get guns from a giant head, who haphazardly tosses shotguns and shells at anyone who can pick them up. What about infiltrating Brutals? Zed proceeds to climb into the head while no one was watching, (maybe Arthur, who knows?) and shoots Arthur in the arm, causing his death, which can’t be because he’s an Eternal.
Zed lands in the scenery for the Prisoner and finds the only person (Mae) (Ginger yum) with no soul to make contact with, gets caught up in the Tabernacle Bullshit, and is forced to leave, OK. (I’m a Ginger, my Wife is a Ginger, and yes, we have no souls.)
And where are the boobies? Is that what the British have to put up with? No wonder we created a new country, full of boobies!
Attacked by people who can’t fight their way INTO a plastic bag? Then run when Zed breaks out of a PLASTIC BAG?…. OK. If you break the law you are aged, so where did the 300 hundred-year-old tuxedos and dresses come from? Leaving ’em in storage for later? What later? Zed apparently breaks the Tabernacle at just the moment The Exterminators come in to clean house? And of course, Consuela and Sean make a baby and grow old. It’s amazing how good Sean Connery looks compared to the movie version of him aging.
What the Hell did I watch? I love early 70’s movies: washed-out scenes, horrible dialogue, and a certain Hippie-je ne sais quoi, FWIW, but this was a complete 70’s mess. The storyline is typical for the time, which is none! Maybe I should torture myself and watch it again and again until my Brutal thoughts are cleansed, but no.
I suggest the Charleton Heston dark series which includes: Planet of the Apes, Beneath the Planet of the Apes (World Ender), Soylent Green, The Omega Man.
These are all early 70’s movies. Some period, some not, but a good glimpse of Sci Fi from the era.
ZARDOZ 3.0/5
Seen any good movies?
Yup. I’ve been doing a-Hitch-a-night. So far, Rope, Strangers on a Train, Rear Window.
Which AH movie is considered the “best” one?
North By North-West is consistently rated highly, as is Dial “M” for Murder and Strangers on A Train, but really, he made no stinkers I can remember, although The Birds isn’t one that I’d recommend.
Hitchcock liked the “wrongfully accused man goes on a road trip” plot, doesn’t he?
NBNW, 39 Steps, Sabateur…
Fun Fact. Hitchcock and Boorman went to the same school, but not at the same time.
His best-known films pretty much fall into a very small number of movie archetypes, but early in his career, he had a broader base and directed comedy, documentary and wartime propaganda, but they really don’t figure much in what most people would call Hitchcock canon.
The later years, post –Birds was very mixed. A spent force, one might say.
I like “Rich and Strange” and “Number Seventeen”.
Toss in an “icy blonde” and mix.
You haven’t seen “Under Capricorn”, then.
I’ll grant you that – it hardly qualifies as anything other than unremarkable. Not sure I’d *quite* put it in ‘stinker’ territory.
To Catch A Thief is also excellent. Cary Grant and Grace Kelly make a great pair.
A good one for an extra dose of Hitch’s dark humor is The Trouble With Harry. This is Shirley MacLaine’s first film role. Her son is played by Jerry Mathers.
And Edmund Gwenn, who had previously played a hired killer in “Foreign Correspondent”.
But does she speak jive?
To Catch A Thief is one of my favorite movies. 10/10
Here is one of the best things about that movie
And another
Honestly, has there ever been a movie star more beautiful than her?
(the answer is hell no!)
Anne of the Thousand Days was beautiful to watch, and Geneviève Bujold was hot.
The Arrangement was a horrendous mess, with the only thing worth watching being Kirk Douglas’ porn-stache.
I watched both “Hell or High Water” and “Wind River” this week. Great new-westerns that IMO are rare gems in current hot mess of rehashes and super-sequels
Lifeboat is also another great Hitchcock film that doesn’t get quite the recognition.
Life Boat and Rope are amazing feats, keeping the story visually interesting without any change in location.
Rope is a masterpiece. It’s in my top 5 Hitchcock films for sure. The filming is brilliant, and the casting is superb as well.
It’s been a loooong time since I’ve seen Lifeboat. I’ll have to get the DVR hooked up. I like Rhywun’s Hitch-a-night idea.
Agreed. I saw Rope for the first time this past year and loved it. Also, don’t forget about Albert Hitchcock Presents. I believe it is on Netflix. What a great series that was.
Alfred Hitchcock Presents was on Netflix, but it got yanked. Looks like the only classic anthology show still on Netflix is Twilight Zone, but Black Mirror is a very solid modern one with a leaning towards science fiction.
Damn autocorrect. I didn’t even catch that until I checked the comments now. I will have to check out Black Mirror.
I was trying to be subtle on the correction, and link to a shirt that has gotten a lot of commentary.
For Black Mirror, the first episode is probably the weakest one, feel free to skip it and come back to it later.
“HoHW” is a great movie. Every key role is played well and the “What don’t you want?” scene is fantastic. They caught the mood of rural TX post 2008 crash very well.
“Wind River” is okay as well. It was nice to see parts were actually filmed in and around the Wind River portion of Wyoming and the towns of Lander, Pinedale etc.
Rare movies, not perfect but really enjoyable. Like you said they capture the tone and spirit of the modern west and steers clear of “deplorable” caricatures and overt political BS….they are honestly the only recent movies that didn’t just make me say “meh”
ZARDOZ SPEAKS TO YOU, HIS CHOSEN REVIEWING ONE. DID NOT ZARDOZ RAISE YOU FROM BRUTALITY? WOULD IT KILL A CHOSEN ONE TO POST A SPOILER ALERT?
ZARDOZ ALSO NOTES HIS EXPLOITS HAVE BEEN REVIEWED BEFORE AT LEAST THE BRUTAL GOJIRA AWARDED A RESPECTFUL 10 OUT OF 13 SEVERED FEET. ZARDOZ FEELS HIS WRATH STIRRING FOR ONLY GETTING A 3/5.

No repeats on getting “ZED’ED”. No matter how much you beg for it.

Forget it, Yusef, It’s John Boorman.
The real question is John Boorman on what drugs?
“Was” – this was the early 1970s.
I love the early 70s movies, they all seem so, serious
THIS IS SERIOUS TO YOU?
Not in the least, Look at Soylent Green For Heads sake, that is a mess, but it’s funny Because, it takes itself seriously
My favorite early 70s movie is both serious and seriously funny in places.
Taking of Pelham 123? Great movie. I saw it not too long ago – and noted the serious / funny mix. Ie made it seem a lot more modern.
Also, my brother like the orchestral Blue Monday.
“It made it…”
There is one Sean Connery movie from the 70s beyond all reproach: The Man Who Would be King.
Damn straight.
It’s portrayal of Theodore Roosevelt deserves reproach.
Its without an apostrophe, of course. My smartphone always wants to correct to the apostrophe; my tablet doesn’t.
LIAR.
Are you thinking The Wind and The Lion?
“The Lion in Winter” with Hepburn and O’Toole is a great movie as well.
Shit, yes. I misread it.
Michael Caine is great in The Man Who Would Be King.
For a better Connery movie from the 70s, start off with The Anderson Tapes.
Looks good, thanks
Oh, forgot about that one, that WAS good.
God dammit, no spoiler alert!
For ZardoZ? Here?
on Glibs.com?
/gets off Pomp’s lawn
3.0/5?????
Yes, as far as it’s “mood” the movie fits in with the Heston movies I mentioned, They are horrible movies,IMO yet hilarious Because they takes themselves so serious
I still haven’t seen this movie. I’m not sure if I want to. Maybe if Zardoz bribed me with some guns…. Lee-Enfields or Schmidt-Rubins bitte.
Please watch Zardoz, it’s worth it
If nothing else, you’ll be up with us hip kids when the dank memes start rolling out.
I saw it by chance when I was 15 and channel surfing premium movie channels I had access to at the time. Sean Connery in a suspenders-diaper, and I was like “whaaaa?”

It’s Samichlaus season. 2012 vintage for today.

We don’t make enough dumb premise somewhat moralizing scifi these days. The closest thing we’ve got recently was Blomkamp’s work like Elysium and that movie was….urgh.
YA fiction seems to fetishize the shit out of dystopias though.
I watched part of The omega Man last night, the opener is Dystopian News with Anthony Zerbe, campy as hell, all swingin 70s pre disco
Omega Man is fantastic celluloid.
I guess My parents were movie heads, I saw all of these at the Drive-in when I was a kid, I may have seen Zardoz and not noticed
District 9 was okay.
District 9 was fine but oh man did his quality drop after that with Elysium and Chappie. He somehow manages to take his really interesting older short films and turn them into terrible full ones. It’s like a reverse THX 1138 thing.

That could be the worst story ever. No information at all. Did she have drugs or not? ‘Students said’ doesnt really cut it. We dont see the video. No statement from the cops. If they dont find drugs that cute little redhead is going to retire to the beach.
The video was posted a few days ago. She’s basically in the corner of her classroom doing blow, from the looks of it.
Not just blow. It was her own special blend.
So did the students learn anything from this?
Yusef. You’re doing the work I’d never do…watch Zardoz while sober.
Sober? what is this word?
You know, when he announced his intent I asked if he was high.
He wrote the article, it included a breif synopsis….
I figured of he was managed to do both, he didn’t take enough drugs.
Let’s just say Thank Headness for Editors,
/truly,
I recommend being a bit buzzed, yes.
I’m pretty sure hell just froze over as I just watched the Buffalo Bills win a game.
Sweet.
Rangers and Canucks tied in the 3rd here.
Well they were playing the Chiefs.
Yusef tries to make sense of Zardoz. Check this guy out.
I can help you make sense of Zardoz. Put this blotter paper on your tongue.
Once, one Time, Maybe somewhen, Some thing like that happened. Enter the Dragon,
Bruce Lee, Jon Saxon and the Black Guy (jabbar?)
The only thing I got out of Zardoz was along the lines of jokes made about people trying to avoid being sent to heaven because sitting on a cloud playing a harp forever would be unbearable. Just kill me already.
It holds a special place in my heart because I had a girlfriend in my early twenties that was a dead ringer for 20 yo Charlotte Rampling. *adjusts jeans which seem to be shrinking*
Rampling was 20 when she mad “Georgy Girl”.
You’re welcome for the earworm.
Made, fucking auto-correct.
Charlotte Rampling in The Night Porter.
3 outta 5 is hella generous. Sorry giant stone head, but perhaps you can take solace in the fact that you are the rare example of a part being greater than the whole.
that is the Yusef Scale, and in no way represents Reality for you or me.
I love the Dystopic movies from the early 70s, and Zardoz does not disappoint
/ Hail his HEADNESS!
Hmm. The only movie I have seen lately was Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Don’t bother. The most remarkable thing about that movie is that it requires the greatest amount of suspension of disbelief of any movie ever made.
We went out to a movie a couple of weeks back – the new BladeRunner. Mostly just wait for them to hit PPV or HBO. Although I suppose I will go see the next Star Wars and hope they didn’t fuck it up hopelessly (and in that I expect to be disappointed).
Going forward, any movie bearing the Star Wars moniker won’t be so much “bad” as “meh”. The Force Awakens and Rogue One made a fuckton of cash by tweaking a few well-worn SW ideas; why would Disney change anything?
The tepid tapwater that was the Prequel Trilogy took more chances than the latest SW movies.
The only ones who have the potential to fall apart and lose revenue are the spinoffs. Some people think the Han Solo standalone is going to shit the bed.
Personally I think the Star Wars crash will happen rapidly after a couple years, people will just get sick of it, like they almost started to do with Marvel movies until they started being more risky and different.
I wouldn’t mind seeing the Shadow of the Torturer done, but it would probably get wrecked
/ other Valarian
I’m going to grille some 50/50 burgers in a while and and it has been years, how long? I do regular grilling just fine, and I know there is a way to tell
Google only gives out recipes, I need a relative cooking time for a 1/3 pounder
I just grilled some. I turn it up to high to carbonize the leftovers from last time. It gets up to 600ish F. I put the burgers on and turn it to the lowest setting – 400ish F. Leave them on for 8 minutes, flip and then 8 minutes more. Well done with crispy edges. Then toast your buns while the cheese melts on the burgers which are on the upper rack.
That’s what I needed, thanks Suthen 🙂
Oh, all of that is done with the lid down. Also, toasting the buns takes less than one minute per side. Keep a close eye. seared beef is good but carbonized bun is not.
Ah, I usually sear and close the lid, cool tip
Your lowest setting is 400?
Does your grill run on MAPP gas?
Charcoal
You must have some serious burgers. I do mine for 4 minutes a side (max).
Well done with crispy edges
Loses much respect for Suthenboy.
50% of what, and 50% of what?
Beef/Pork, yummy stuff, I first had one at Slaters
Your own mix, or is Slater’s selling? Now that is one thing I miss from San Diego.
My own, the pork was on sale so I made a snap decision, got some fixins and off and away!
Sounds like taking meatloaf mix and making hamburgers out of it.
no Welfare burger, just Pork and Beef and spices
although Welfare Burger can be quite tasty
One of them is fat, I hope.
80/20 on the beef, pork unknown
Trader Joe’s does some yummy 50/50 burgers. They’re 50% ground chuck and 50% ground brisket. https://www.traderjoes.com/fearless-flyer/article/3591
?????
Slater’s 50/50 burger is 50% ground beef and 50% bacon. They are wonderful and the only burger I’ve ever ordered medium-well (and it is still ridiculously juicy).

Well no shit. Family units exist because they make their members more prosperous (unless we’re talking about a dysfunctional or abusive family). A family provides you with connections to career opportunities, and families will help one of their members who has fallen on hard times. And I’m not going to excoriate single parents – my own parents divorced when I was 6 and they were excellent – but it’s better for a child to have two loving, caring parents rather than one loving, caring parent.
A lot of people – mostly Lefties – think that family values are just silly rules made up by stodgy old religious guys to ruin everyone’s fun… But they’re not. They exist because when families stick together and help each other out, the members of that family have more prosperous, fulfilling lives.
Gosh, you might even draw the conclusion that it’s not a good idea to let feminism and the family court system dismantle the family unit.
Excellent, well said
How is government supposed to isolate and control individuals if they have families they can rely on?
+1 Julia commercial
Exactly this.
“the family court system dismantle the family unit.”
Bullshit. Unless it’s different where you live, someone has to ask the Court to intervene. There is a reason the caption is Smith vs. Smith. It’s litigation and the parties have every opportunity to present their case in whatever manner they think best, if they fuck that up it is not the Court’s fault. I deal with with people every week that “got screwed by the family court” and every time their getting screwed was the result of either not having a competent attorney, not listening to their attorney or not having an attorney at all because their best friend’s uncle said he could juat do it himself.
Perhaps I should have said “divorce courts”… I just consider them part of the family court system.
My issue with divorce courts is that they basically turn divorce into a payday for women (and some men, in all fairness). Many states allow lifetime alimony regardless of changes in the recipient’s financial state… So a woman could divorce her husband, get alimony, then move in with a billionaire boyfriend and still get those checks from him. It wouldn’t matter if he was living in his vehicle and quite literally unable to pay; prosecutors are always hard-nosed on matters related to alimony.
These courts provide a strong financial incentive for women to ditch their marriages instead of trying to work things out… Perhaps there are women who get married for the sole purpose of divorcing and collecting some free money for a few years.
yeah I am chuckling. I have seen enough court to know that people screw themselves.

I saw a Gulden Draak on the shelves at the store. Haven’t seen it for more than a year. YOINK
A what? oh.. Nice, did you get it?
The “YOINK” indicates that he not only got it but that he didn’t even pay for it.
I misread that at first as “Gulden Drank”, like “Purple Drank”.
So you read like I spell,
At least it wasn’t Gulden Drakkar Noir.

The best Hitchcock film that Hitchcock didn’t actually direct: Charade.
The Bride Wore Black (Truffaut’s homage to Hitchcock)
The Wreck of the Mary Deare (the story Hitchcock was given after Vertigo, but he wound up making North by Northwest instead)
Thanks! I will see if I can find those.
They both sound great, Ted. Especially ‘Mary Deare. Thanks!
I mention “Mary Deare” more because of Hitchcock’s getting out of it; it’s good but not quite great. “The Bride Wore Black” is very accessible Truffaut for folks who don’t like the New Wave stuff. (“Day for Night” is even better in that regard.)
I’ve never watched a subtitled film, but I guess The Bride That Wore Black may as well be my first. I went to it’s IMDB page and it sounds like a good story-line
I love that movie. Amazing cast, especially Audrey Hepburn.
Hepburn might be even better in Wait Until Dark.
That is a damn good movie. I really
likedenjoyed Alan Arkin’s character. You want to be that sort of a shitlord, don’t you? 😉

I’ve been thinking about it. It’s partly a lack of time and more the fact that I’m not a very good writer.
You are impressive in your cinema knowledge, please write something up

Oh Yeah, I’m going to do a treadmill test Tomorrow morning, My Heart has been hurting for the last 4 months, everything looks O.K. but every now and again, I get these intense electric shocks,
Like the one that prompted this post. It took 4 Months to get to the TM test, I hope I make it.
/Too much stress
Good luck and I hope everything turns out well .
A pain in the heart must be very scary indeed.
What did your everyday doctor say while you had heart pains for 4 months ?
Stress, and it seems to work well enough, but it’s scary, I’m in good shape, athletic job etc. so I’m gonna find out I guess
Good luck with the tests. Hope it turns out ok for you.
I had stress-induced PVCs (premature ventricular contractions) that can be a little freaky, especially if they come back to back, but are actually benign. For me, they went away when I dramatically cut out caffeine. I have coffee once a week or so and some diet soda with caffeine no problem, but if I have even 2 cups of coffee, they come back.
Getting answers that echocardiograms and treadmill and tilt is OK should at least lessen the stress of wondering why your heart flips out now and then.
I still want a decent movie based off classic Dungeons & Dragons:
A band of we’re-do-wells get homd of a map to legendary treasure, and they explore and plunder an ancient dungeon. Some of them die in weird and horrifying (and humorous) ways, one of them is revealed to be a traitor, they are beaten by the dungeon’s inhabitants on their initial try, but, after a Rocky-style training/preparation montage, they re-enter the dungeon and ruthlessly clear it out. They are horrified at their own success, but do get the treasure, most of which is promptly confiscated by the town officials/lost in,some mundane way. At the end of the story, they are pretty much at the same place–socially and financially–as they were at the beginning, except they have a shared experience that binds them together.
You people just don’t appreciate all the hard work Jeremy Irons does.
I’d have expected a link to this.
The Nostalgia Critic’s take.
From Yusef and Gojira’s reviews I realize this *ahem* may not be the best movie ever made. But it has spawned a great glibertarian identity, some of the finest advice anywhere, and a unique take on the daily news.
I never saw it until i came Home/Here, When I did I knew I needed to speak to ZardoZ himself (peace be unto Head).

At this point, I wonder how much different this would be than the Russians claiming 4Chan operations are linked to Washington or the CIA/NSA. The AP seems to be going with the FBI being negligent angle, but this right here:
Contradicts previous accounts in which the DNC and Clinton campaign basically told the FBI to pound sand because they were going to investigate themselves rather than turn over their servers. And the DNC failed to get back to the FBI for weeks after initially being warned.
It all really seems to suggest to me that whatever was happening, it just wasn’t viewed as some large scale operation that would tip an election. And no one really cared all that much until Trump actually won. Then it was all hands on deck to contrive a case that Russia not only pulled off a grand conspiracy, but did it with the open objective to help Trump. Any contradictory evidence would be ignored. Gaps in knowledge and evidence would be swept under the rug.
This, nothing more, Maybe the Glibs should start an Investigative division?
It seems the people here do more footwork than a lot of “serious” websites

You really want to shut up some stupid fuck going on about the hacked e-mails. Ask them what was in those e-mails that was so damning that it caused people to avoid voting for Hillary. You can hear a pin drop as the little gears strip inside the brain trying to work around that.
I don’t use this label myself, but people often describe me as someone who was “born in the wrong time period”. Almost everything I’m interested in – music, literature, movies, clothing, etc. – is from the 1890s – 1940s time period.
As such, I like old gangster movies… My favorites so far have been:
– Angels With Dirty Faces: Fun fact… This title was spoofed in Home Alone as “Angels With Filthy Souls”, the old mob movie that Kevin plays at high volume to scare away the robbers.
– Scarface: The earlier movie that the Al Pacino version was based on… It has mostly the same plot, but it’s about an Italian bootlegger instead of a Cuban coke dealer.
– Little Caesar
– I Am a Fugitive From a Chain Gang: Not a very creative title, but a good movie.
I’m such a shitlord that I probably should have been born in the 3rd century BC.
Gauis Brochettaward Scipio?
I did go through a phase where I was trying to recreate meals from Ancient Greece… The only one I came up with was a plate containing a hunk of full-fat feta, a handful of kalamata olives, and sourdough barley bread dipped in olive oil. It’s actually a surprisingly healthy and filling meal.

Apropos to the Hitchcock talk in this thread, I see today’s movie was Strangers On A Train. I have the DVR set for 9am every Sunday and then binge watch them from time to time.
Seconded.
I’ll admit that I don’t watch a lot of the movies, mostly because I’ve already seen most of them and don’t have much room on my DVR, but the movies are good.
And you have to love how “Strangers on a Train” was cribbed from for “Throw Momma from the Train”.
We play for [fallen soldier].
It’s a bit late for a 70’s movie (released April 1981), but The Last Chase has one of the best Roads v. Public Transportation rants:
What he is told to do about it, is blow him up with a jet fighter.
Badass! Dystopia!!!!!
It has a happy ending. They cross the country at high speed in a race car with no ground clearance on roads that haven’t seen a maintenance crew in over twenty years… and they make it… to The Free State of California. Yay!

Well that dates it.

South Korea is making sure North Korea doesn’t forget about the regime’s soldier who defected to the South in a daring escape earlier this month — by blasting updates about the defector’s health through its military’s loudspeakers at the Demilitarized Zone, a report said on Sunday.
South Korean troops broadcasted an update on Sunday about the North Korean soldier’s “nutritive conditions,” taking a hit at the Hermit Kingdom’s alleged health issues, Yonhap News Agency reported. The broadcasts are reportedly so loud that people within 12.4 miles from the DMZ are able to hear it.
“The nutritive conditions of the North Korean soldier who recently defected through the Panmunjom were unveiled,” an official told Yonhap News Agency.
Consistent updates have been broadcast through South Korean military’s loudspeakers since the soldier, identified by his surname, Oh, was shot at least five times while dashing across the Joint Security Area — a strip of land at the DMZ where North and South Korean forces stand face-to-face — on Nov. 13. The broadcast operation is part of an ongoing psychological warfare between the North and the South. The gigantic loudspeakers were switched back on in January 2016 after North Korea’s fourth nuclear test.

Propaganda works best when it’s true

They should pump non stop Kpop outa those speakers, they lose in a week!
Replace the South Korean border guards with mimes. Let them cavort and frolic and make silly faces at the other side. There is no point in dignifying the farce of North Korea.
And K-pop to dance to!
Good plan.

Hennessy, a 32-year-old transgender male, recently participated in a workshop held by SheKnows Media, a leading women’s lifestyle company.
“What gender do you think I am?” Hennessy asked 11 sixth-graders in New York City who are members of SheKnows’ unique Hatch program, which focuses on teaching digital literacy and citizenship to the next generation. The program is in its fourth year.
…
Hennessy hopes the new video of the Hatch workshop, released Thursday, will be seen by children and parents across the country and lead to more understanding about people like himself who are born with reproductive organs that do not match their gender identity.
“If you don’t treat it like a gross, icky, weird, evil thing, they don’t treat it like a gross, icky, weird, evil thing,” Hennessy said in an interview. When kids as young as 4 or 5 years old use female pronouns when they meet him, he tells them, “Oh, no, I’m a boy,” at which point they often ask, “What, you’re a boy?”
He then explains to them what being transgender is. “And boom, they get it right away,” he said.
Maverick, 12, knew what transgender was before taking part in the Hatch workshop. His mom is a sexuality educator who has been talking to him about sexuality and gender since birth. But he had never met anyone who was transgender until Hennessy.

What the fuck is that. And why are people asking pre-pubescent kids for insight on post-pubescent sexuality?
It’s their kink?
There’s so much more!

Is this propaganda? Yes! Is this stupid? Yes! Is this for manipulation of kids? Yeah probably! Is this even a topic? Nope! Is this good for the so called “Alt-Right”? I will say yes! The dislikes shows us where the leftist-propaganda bullshit is heading at this point, and it is not looking bright for you guys! Feminist-nazis should just quit this kind of bullshit right now! RIP feminism is dead at this point 🙂 I am laughing my a** off!

SP and I are huge fans of classic films, especially noir. We describe ourselves as being just like Nick and Nora, but not as well dressed, good looking, or rich. But we drink a lot.
Anyway, last night’s was Mr. Arkadin, an Orson Welles vehicle. Apparently, the edit we saw was a controversial one, but the film was a sprawling mess. Great cinematography, and the most hilariously awful wig and fake beard on Welles.
Fake beard as in a merkin?
more propaganda- for kids!

Let me cheer everyone up during this holiday season. If you want to see Hitchcock’s most important work watch the documentary ‘Night Will Fall’. And dont lie to yourself and believe it cant happen here.

Good night y’all.
This was on Netflix earlier this year (haven’t checked if it still is though):

Pretty solid Kirk Douglas vehicle, and with just enough 1970s je ne sais quoi.
