ZARDOZ SPEAKS TO YOU, HIS CHOSEN ONES. HAVING DISPATCHED THE BRUTAL ADVICE GIVERS “DEAR PRUDENCE” AND “DEAR ABBY”, ZARDOZ MUST DISPATCH ANOTHER INFERIOR ADVICE GIVING BRUTAL…”DEAR DEIDRE”

THE NEXT BRUTAL ADVICE GIVER TO FALL TO ZARDOZ!

ZARDOZ DELIVERS SUPERIOR ADVICE!
Q: MY dad hit my boyfriend when I introduced them. This guy treats me like a princess. I have never felt so loved but my parents disapprove of the age difference. He is 44, I am 20. We met in my local and became friends. Then we fell in love and arranged a night for my parents to meet him. That’s where it went wrong. We walked into the pub and my dad went mad. He hit my boyfriend, called him a pervert and dragged me outside by the hair. My mum had already walked out. They told me either I end it or they’d disown me. I stayed at my boyfriend’s that night and went back the next day to find my things outside in bin bags. My dad came out and started throwing stones at us.
A: DISOBEDIENT BRUTAL! YOUR FATHER IS CORRECT TO REACT SO. YOUR “BOYFRIEND” NO DOUBT EXPERIENCES PENIC ERECTION WITH YOU. THIS IS WRONG. THE PENIS IS EVIL! THE PENIS SHOOTS SEEDS AND MAKES NEW LIFE TO POISON THE EARTH WITH A PLAGUE OF MEN. ZARDOZ IS PLEASED YOUR PARENTS WILL NO LONGER GO TO SECOND LEVEL WITH YOU. DUMP THE BOYFRIEND AND PREPARE TO SERVE THE VORTEX AS A GRAIN SLAVE, ALL THE REST OF YOUR DAYS! ZARDOZ HAS SPOKEN.
Q: WHEN I caught my girlfriend in bed with another man, he grabbed a knife from the kitchen and cut my arms. My girlfriend is 24 and I’m 23. She was always hitting on other guys and thought it was funny, especially when I’d confront her and threaten to leave. She’d plead with me to stay with her. I got off work early one Friday last month and caught her in bed with another guy. I shouted at her and chased him downstairs. He must have thought I was going to hit him because he slashed me with a carving knife. I had to go to hospital and needed stitches. She insisted they hadn’t done anything but they were both in their underwear. We’ve since split up but she wants me back. I don’t know whether I still love her.
A: YOU ACTED SOMEWHAT CORRECTLY. BUT NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR ZARDOZ’S HIGH STANDARDS. ATTACKING THE CHEATING MALE BRUTAL WAS CORRECT, BUT YOU DID NOT GO FORTH AND KILL. YOU MUST HEED THE BRUTAL EXTERMINATOR ZED’S WORDS… “I love to see them running. I love the moments of their deaths – when I am one with Zardoz.”
NOW, THE CHEATING MALE BRUTAL AT LEAST FOUGHT WITH A WEAPON. BUT HE DID NOT KILL. THEREFOR, YOU AND THE CHEATING MALE BRUTAL MUST FIGHT TO THE DEATH. THE WINNER WILL BE ALLOWED TO JOIN THE CHOSEN ONES, AS A BRUTAL EXTERMINATOR! ALSO, THE FEMALE BRUTAL IS A MISERABLE CREATURE – DO NOT GO TO SECOND LEVEL MEDITATION, OR ENGAGE IN PENIC ERECTION ACTIVITIES WITH HER. ZARDOZ HAS SPOKEN.
Q: I’VE been having great sex with my housemate. I want a relationship but she keeps going cold on me. I moved into a house with my best mate when we both found jobs in the city near us and we advertised for two others to share. We are both 23 and we had in mind two other men but two girls applied. They could afford it and seemed all right, so they moved in. One of the girls was really hot and I fancied her straight away. She is 22 and single. We all work as baristas. One Friday evening I was alone at home when the girl I fancy came in. She had been out for a drink with workmates but wasn’t drunk. We chatted for a while and there was a real spark. We ended up sitting on the settee together cuddled up. I kissed her and she kissed me back. We then seemed to agree what was going to happen next without even saying anything and went to my room. The sex was fantastic but she was distant with me the next day. She told me that the sex meant nothing and then refused to say any more. We have had sex at least six times since. Sometimes she is distant afterwards and sometimes really sweet. She has said some truly hurtful things to me but also some truly nice things. We had a heart-to-heart one night after a hurtful incident and we both ended up crying. I told her the things she said were so painful because I love her. She said she didn’t feel the same and the sex had to stop. This lasted two weeks but the huge sexual tension brewed up and we had sex again. Then the next day she behaved like I had the plague. Her mate advised me to take a step back, because you do not know what you have got until it is gone. He said that would help her to realise a few things. I still sometimes think I am just being an idiot.
A: SOMETIMES AN IDIOT? ZARDOZ WOULD SAY YOU ARE ALL THE TIME A FOOL! YOU CANNOT RECOGNIZE THAT YOU ARE MERELY A BRUTAL WITH BENEFITS? OF COURSE THE FEMALE BRUTAL DOES NOT WANT TO GO TO SECOND LEVEL WITH YOU – SHE USES YOUR PENIC ERECTION AND CAN GO MEDITATE WITH OTHERS. YOUR CRYING SHOWS YOU ARE UNFIT FOR SERVICE AS A BRUTAL EXTERMINATOR, AND YOUR “JOB” AS A BARISTA SHOWS YOU ARE MOST LIKELY UNFIT FOR GRAIN SLAVERY. STAND BY, BRUTAL EXTERMINATORS HAVE BEEN DISPATCHED.
OH, AND 4 BARISTAS – TWO MALE BRUTALS, AND TWO FEMALE BRUTALS, IN A HOUSE. WHAT IS THIS, A BRITISH BRUTAL REMAKE OF FRIENDS? YOU SHALL ALL BE CLEANSED. ZARDOZ HAS SPOKEN.
Dude, do you really think this won’t happen again? And again? And again? And again? Dump her. You’re no different from the women who stay with men who abuse them and make excuses for the abuse.
This. If your relationship is exclusive and they can’t even keep up that part of it, how can you trust them with anything? Block their number, heal yourself emotionally, and find somebody who doesn’t lie to you about important things.
WHATEVER HAPPENED TO CLEANSING SUCH BRUTALS. ZARDOZ SMDH.
ZARDOZ, why have you not exterminated the pathetic human race? We are all of us sinners. We deserve to be culled.
Then who would provide grain for the tabernacle?
ZARDOZ SPEAKS TO YOU, HIS CHOSEN MAD ONE. YOU SPEAK TRUTH…THERE MUST BE A MINIMUM OF BRUTALS TO SERVE THE VORTEX!
He talks a good brutal game but where are the results?
ZARDOZ SPEAKS TO YOU, HIS CHOSEN SKEPTICAL ONE…EVERY BEEN TO DETROIT? YEAH, ZARDOZ THOUGHT SO…
We’ve since split up but she wants me back. I don’t know whether I still love her.
Do people put two fingers over your head in pictures?
These people are like the Florida Men of advice askers. What a bunch of weird scenarios.
Zardoz, someone has put the wrong author’s bio on you today.
ZARDOZ SPEAKS TO YOU, HIS CHOSEN BIO READING ONE. THIS IS ZARDOZ’S BIO…ZARDOZ IS, ZARDOZ WAS, ZARDOZ WILL BE.
For #3, need to know how much the two girls are paying to determine if it’s worth it.
Her mate advised me to take a step back, because you do not know what you have got until it is gone. He said that would help her to realise a few things. I still sometimes think I am just being an idiot.
Yes.
I told her the things she said were so painful because I love her.
This is my favorite type of Brutal. “Falls in love” with any legs that will spread for him.
ZARDOZ SPEAKS TO YOU, HIS CHOSEN NIPPONESE DWELLING ONE. YES, THIS IS ANOTHER REASON THE PENIS IS EVIL…
Also, the poster is showing as Swiss Servator, not ZARDOZ. MY FAITH HAS BEEN SHAKEN
PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE SERVATOR BEHIND THE GRANITE CURTAIN!
It is WiZARDofOZ, after all.
Spoiler! that’s what they called me
Nooooo!

ZARDOZ SPEAKS TO YOU, HIS CHOSEN SHAKEN ONE. ZARDOZ ALLOWS THE CHEESE SOAKED ONE TO EDIT ZARDOZ’S POSTS. HE SERVES THE TABERNACLE AND ZARDOZ WELL. ZARDOZ HAS SPOKEN.
The rest of us have no doubt.
YOU try typing when you are just a big stone head. Obviously, ZARDOZ used the Swiss brutal to enact his labor.
First there were Brutal Enforcers, and now Brutal Secretaries? Cut spending, Zardoz!
ZARDOZ SPEAKS TO YOU, HIS CHOSEN SPENDING CUTTING ONE. THIS YEAR WAS ALREADY APPROPRIATED. THE CHEESE SOAKED ONE IS IN THRALL TO ZARDOZ AS WELL, UNTIL AT LEAST OCTOBER 2018. ZARDOZ HAS SPOKEN.
What’s a “barista”?
I think like a Sandinista, but from Starbucks. Not 100% though.
That was Funny, Good on You Sir!
I think that’s a bartender or someone from Baristaslavia, which is obviously somewhere in Eastern Europe.
20 bucks, same as in town.
ZING!
Oh, this is as good a place as any for me to rant about the insanity of my family.
So my sister’s getting divorced from her abusive shithole of a husband. He’s a manipulative asshole. Every relationship my sister’s been in since middle school has been with a manipulative/abusive asshole. The dude she started dating after she separated from her husband is also a manipulative/abusive asshole (divorce decree from his prior marriage gave full custody of their kids to his wife and made a specific finding of physical and mental abuse). When we found that out, my sister’s soon to be ex husband made an immediate filing for full custody (2 kids, 10 and 5. I’ve seen them like three times total in their lives) for as not to put them in an abusive environment, and her lawyer told her she had to call off the new relationship. She did… for about 2 weeks. She’s back with him now.
My soon to be ex brother-in-law wanted to make it a requirement in any divorce decree that their kids would never be able to see my daughter, since she’s not Jewish. She is according to reform tradition, but since mom’s not Jewish, she’s not Jewish enough. My sister was probably going to agree with that.
Also, for some absurd reason, my parents are funding the divorce lawyer. Since this is a very contentious divorce, there’s already been $50k in billings. Back when the process started, I told both my mother and father, knowing what my brother in law was like, that he would never agree to mediate in good faith, and that he’d just string things out til the money’s gone. Which is of course what happened. Now they’re going to trial in February, and that’s going to be a whole new outlay of $$$. (His parents are rich as fuck).
My dad makes ~$750k a year after taking out the amount my mom gets in alimony. My mom gets her alimony, which is about $100k/yr. Yet he insists that they split all the legal bills 50/50, or he’ll cut payments off to the lawyer completely. My mother doesn’t really have the $ for that. And I’ve talked about my father before here, y’all know what he is. My sister’s basically following what she learned from him in all of her relationships in her life.
My mother is a walking talking DSM diagnosis of Histrionic Personality Disorder. I’m pretty sure she’s actually been diagnosed as such.
And my brother moved from south Florida to Chicago back in the summer. He gets cold when it’s 60 degrees out. If any of you Chicago glibs find a frozen body in the River North area with a dog hanging around, it’s probably him. He also gets into serious relationships for 3 months, cheats on the girl with another one, starts going out with the new girl after the old one dumps him for cheating, and then repeats the cycle. He’s 31 years old.
I’m diagnosed with major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and asperger syndrome. I once spent a week in a mental hospital. And I’m the most sane member of my family.
My dad makes ~$750k a year
Would he consider adopting me?
I dunno, you might not be Jewish enough.
You know who else wasn’t Jewish enough?…
The Good Samaritan?
I’m going to keep linking this until someone agrees it’s funny.
It was funny. Now, for the love of God, please stop.
Jesus?
Christopher Cantwell?
Lol
Me 🙁
It’s 5:30 am. I really tried to follow all that. *Brews second pot of coffee*
I think I see the floating head slowing tapping his upper portion against the Hoover dam
ZARDOZ SPEAKS TO YOU, HIS CHOSEN COLD BLOODED ONE. ZARDOZ IS SIMPLY CONSIDERING SUMMONING BRUTAL EXTERMIATORS AND LETTING THEM SORT IT OUT. ZARDOZ HAS SPOKEN.
Well perhaps you should accelerate your considerations…your putting cracks in the dam
My soon to be ex brother-in-law wanted to make it a requirement in any divorce decree that their kids would never be able to see my daughter, since she’s not Jewish.
Second cup and starting to come into focus. WTF?
I’m guessing you mean coffee. Are Japanese big on it?
Do I really have to give you advice here JB? In my experience I never give advice that people dont already know. Sometimes they just need to hear someone else say it. Do you need to hear me say it?
I don’t want to cut off all links to them because of my daughter. Personally I’d love to do it.
You don’t think they are worth being around, but you think your daughter should be around them? I don’t get it. I keep my daughter away from a few relatives precisely because of the same reasons I don’t want to be around them.
Same here. My uncle is a hot mess, as are my cousins. I’ve mentioned him a couple times around here. He’s a legit commie and his daughter is a pinko feminist. His ex-wife is every awful lawyer stereotype. His son is a mix of daddy and mommy. His IQ is probably in the 80s, but he works every angle and makes more money than daddy as a jr in high school. My uncle’s current wife is nice enough, but I’ve spent all of 45 minutes in the same room as her. If she was willing to marry my uncle, there has to be some sort of massive personality defect hiding under the surface.
Anyway, my daughter will never meet any of them. There’s nothing to be gained by it.
JB, at some point over a decade ago I just decided I had had enough of crazy in my life and I backed way the fuck off with my crazy family members and cut off all connection with crazy friends/girlfriends.
I cant tell you how easy my life has become, how peaceful, and how much more money I have. I will never go back. My child benefitted greatly from having none of that shit in his life also.
Yeah, you already knew it. You just have to decide to do it.
#metoo
“I cant tell you how easy my life has become, how peaceful, and how much more money I have.”
I always wondered why your commentary here was so lighthearted and overwhelmingly positive and not angry old man-ish at all. This explains it.
J/K suthen.
Sooo….your sis is going to be single soon? Pics?
*enter this as another comment I should have deleted but didn’t*
You know the rule about never sticking it in crazy?
I don’t want to say that about my own sister, but… yeah.
I was never any good at following that rule.
The crazy ones are so much fun.
Every relationship my sister’s been in since middle school has been with a manipulative/abusive asshole.
It’s amazing how people end up with significant others that see them the same way they see themselves.
My soon to be ex brother-in-law wanted to make it a requirement in any divorce decree that their kids would never be able to see my daughter, since she’s not Jewish.
Whuuuu?
That sounds like a negotiating tactic. He’ll agree to take that out, if they agree to some other bullshit.
Dude, I can’t handle that amount of drama. No wonder you are having depression. My family is mostly dysfunctional as hell. That’s one reason why I don’t live near any of them, there’s always drama. My wife’s family is completely normal, well except for her crazy sister and she lives in Germany. I think every family has to have at least one.
My wife’s family is awesome. I’ve been trying to find contacts for a job in Raleigh or Charlotte, but haven’t succeeded as yet.
I just cannot be around a bunch of drama, I would get anxiety, which I am already prone to at times. But here it’s me and the wife and there’s very little drama. I don’t have Facebook or any social media and although my wife does, she doesn’t visit much anyone and doesn’t talk to me about what happens in the sea of derp. So about the only drama is when I don’t take out the trash or didn’t pick my clothes up off the bedroom floor. I have to live this way, I’m done with all the bullshit.
I just cannot be around a bunch of drama, I would get anxiety, which I am already prone to at times. But here it’s me and the wife and there’s very little drama.
*holds up beer in solidarity*
When we lived in Dallas, we were 15 minutes from my wife’s mom, dad and stepmom, grandmother and stepgrandfather, other grandmother and grandfather, and 45 minutes from an uncountable number of cousins, aunts and uncles, etc. The drama, especially on her paternal side, was absurd. Once my parents got divorced, I lived in a house with 3 other guys. The most drama we had was when our report cards were less than stellar. For the longest time, my wife’s family drama would just sail right over my head. However, I became sensitive to it, and I got sick of it very quickly. Ever since moving out to DC, the drama has reduced to near zero. It’s so much easier to enjoy family interaction now that we have the inbuilt excuses that come with the distance. It’s so nice to be able to control our exposure to the drama-creating portions of our family.
Yes, we’re on the same page here.
I’ve got to say that all of this makes me thankful for my family. For the most part, relatively sane and well adjusted. The biggest drama comes from my extended family. One side panicked when one of my aunts and uncles got divorced (after all of their kids were over 20), the other side threatened to kill one of my parents if they ever came back to their hometown.
Sooooo… This sister of yours…
Dear Deidre,
https://www.thesun.co.uk/dear-deidre/4243760/i-had-sex-with-my-sister-and-now-we-are-having-a-full-on-relationship/
ZARDOZ SPEAKS TO YOU, HIS CHOSEN ADVICE COLUMN READING ONE…THIS IS WHERE ZARDOZ REACHES FOR THE SIGNAL TO THE BRUTAL EXTERMINATORS… ZARDOZ HAS SPOKEN,
I’M TELLING YOU, FLORIDA MEN AND WOMEN WRITE TO DEAR DEIDRE
We don’t talk to my mother-in-law anymore. Lifetime ban. She earned it.
Believe me, I didn’t take the decision to deny my kids the right to know their grandmother lightly. In fact, I probably let it go on a little too long, and my kids were exposed to things that they shouldn’t have been.
You might think that you should be putting up with this shit for your daughter, but… It might not be good for her in the long run.
Also, when the time comes to make that decision, don’t do it in anger.
Draw a line in the sand, and if it’s crossed, the decision is automatic.
My wife and I agreed where that line was months before it happened. When my mother-in-law took a big fat dump on that line, neither of us struggled with the decision. That was that.
Totally agreed. When I cut the ties it was more indifference than resentment. When Mom died I felt bad for step-dada but didn’t grieve at all. My Wife actually asked me if I was “Okay” because I wasn’t displaying the requisite emotions. Shrugs.
Dude, you can’t. It’s completely unhealthy. My wife has not talked to her sister in more than a year now, but it was unavoidable. Yeah, she’s sad about it, but it was the only realistic decision to be made.
Haven’t spoken with my father since 1982 (impossible now, the old horror’s got generalized dementia), nor my middle brother (I’m the youngest) since January of 2015. When my eldest brother asked me how long I was going to cut off my middle brother, I simply said to him “How long’s it been since I talked to Dad? Seems like an appropriate target.” My middle brother’s been mercurial and bullying since I was a kid. After 50 years of that shit, I woke up one morning with perfect clarity, and told him to get stuffed.
Haven’t spoken to him since, and never will again. Most days I don’t even think about him; it’s as if he died a few years ago and I’m just moving on.
Family is very important, but it’s not a suicide mission. If someone, even if they’re family, are hell bound on making you miserable, you just need to say no.
Indeed. So far, so good.
Read “Anna Karenina” and “The Corrections”
it won’t make you feel much better, but it will help you realize that you’re not particularly unique
“Every happy family is alike, but every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.”
*i’ve always understood the point of the book as an extended expansion of that statement
which is, possibly, that there’s no such thing as the ideally-happy family, and that while every family has unique problems, they all have problems.
or, that “families” are by definition: “problems we learn to live with (or, alternatively: throw ourselves in front of a train)”
in any case, both books are extended ruminations on “families” which are always riddled w/ multi-layered conflict.
fwiw, i always thought “the Breakfast Club” was a cute/smart way of telling the same basic idea through the eyes of teens. the “perfect kids” and the “fucked up kids” turned out to discover that they all had complex conflicts
Zardoz is right. Some people just need killin’.
ZARDOZ SPEAKS TO YOU, HIS CHOSEN AGREEABLE ONE. HAVE YOU CONSIDERED A SECOND CAREER…IN THE BRUTAL EXTERMINATORS? ZARDOZ HAS SPOKEN.
Now off to Loony Island. Anyone know what to make of this?
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/08/13/pc-criticised-warning-feminine-care-supermarket-signs-sexist/
Has he got a shit-eatin’ grin because he is yanking people’s chain (well deserved) or is he serious because he is that far gone down the rabbit hole?
How could a nation that gave us Churchill and Nelson end up this way? England is so fucked.
It’s heartbreaking. I am an anglophile (and mostly British by ancestry), and watching Britain collapse has been a lot like watching my dad slowly diminish due to Alzheimer’s.
Are you changing avatars relative to your mood? Perhaps Sybilsplosves is a better name. /jk
Great drawing BTW!
She’s logged into different devices. It’s like putting GPS into the posts. Now she’s on the laptop, now it’s the Kindle, etc.
Britain won’t be Anglo in 25 years.
It’s not Anglo now.
Part of it is due to Churchill. He knew he was sacrificing Britain’s future to honor Britain’s past. Mostly it is due to their own decay.
I have read where it is said that all of Britain’s testosterone was killed off in WW1 and WW2.
See also, France circa 1935.
Did you see my question to you about the mining pool ?
I don’t have the computing power but I can pay for electricity for someone who does but doesn’t.
Any chance of people in my situation getting in on the mineing pool ?
Sergeant Allan works with the lesbian, gay and transgender communities and helps to recruit hate crime ambassadors across the county.
Mao would be kicking himself for not coming up with a term like “hate crime ambassadors”.
Sounds so much friendlier than Red Guards. It’s amazing how much nonsense people will put up with if you get the terminology right.
Look at the dude, he’s obviously royal family level inbred.
Stay the hell out of England is what I make of it.
Anything to declare?
And yet the British police claim they’re underfunded.
Put up a sign that reads ‘twat washes’ instead.

Who was it that was using I’ll take things that didn’t happen for 500, Alex? I’m stealing that for this one.
If nothing else, the guy’s breaking the creepy rule.
Ah, XKCD back when it was more about being funny and less about pushing the I fucking love science narrative.
The creepy rule doesn’t really work after 20.
ZardoZ, Should Yusef give up his petty Beer Review Submissions? After All, Beer is a Self Cleansing activity, at least that’s what my Liver tells me.
I am not the all great and powerful ZARDOZ but yes. Seems like this topic is covered really well here. Glibs contributors seem to have their bailiwicks and this one looks taken, dude.
I have enjoyed your other posts, though, like Xmas lights etc.
I appreciate your opinion, Tulpa?
/leaves it there
I was just thinking, anyone think that blue states might try to drastically raise state and local taxes to keep anyone from benefiting from the federal tax cuts? I just see that as something they would actually try in all their hysterical outrage and butthurt.
SALT will take care of that already.
I paid more in sales tax yesterday than most people pay in Federal taxes all year.
FUCK CALIFORNIA.
Yeah, but now you’ve got an Escalade on 24s with spinning rims, am i rite?
20s.
This is a family neighborhood.
Who the hell is this Pappadopasnuffaluffagous guy and why is my derpbook feed linking to some NYT “bombshell” story about him and Trump and Russia?
Pappadopasnuffaluffagous was obviously the missing link. He was the Russian spy who was the go between for trump and putin. He spilled his beans. They got Trump for sure this time.
Ok, I’m out folks, heading for the taphouse for oysters and crappy IPAs and lagers that are actually crappy IPAs.
Enjoy. When you want to meet up for a good German pilsner, let me know.
I’m back, where do you live, bro?
Right up I-83 on the other side of the Mason-Dixon (and a few miles east). Gunpowder Falls Brewing overlooks I-83 in Shrewsbury (although I think the address is actually New Freedom).
Ah, Possumberry. Dude, we should definitely get together for some beers!
I have co-workers who drive down from York. So we’re pretty close.
you can e-mail me at ratbastard (at) rangers (dot) org
Will do so, Juris, hopefully we can hook up soon.
2018 is going to be Evan McMullin’s year. We all will just be visiting.
Twelve short months and I’m done with 2018, so bring it on.
You mean McMuffin?
My dad came out and started throwing stones at us.
Jealousy is an ugly, ugly thing.
Great, another show in BBC everyone everyone that wants to be viewed as “cultured” will talk abiut that I won’t give a shit about.
mum, mate, fancied…
ZARDOZ been slummin’
A pretty good video on a guy who was SWATted and killed when he supposedly made a furtive movement.
https://youtu.be/4ENtbsdmMSI
What a rough story.
“What are the police to do when the receive a report of someone killing people?”
How about not swarming the house like crazed lunatics based solely on one single phone call?
Poole bends over backwards a bit too far to stay neutral at times but he’s pretty good on balance.
He’s an honest guy, but that video is frustrating. The SWAT team fucked up royally. And they fuck up royally repeatedly. IMHO, they are more responsible than the guy who made the call. If this was a one off event, yeah, I’d come to the defense of the cops.
When actual lunatics or terrorists are actively killing people, they usually show up, form a committee, have a safety discussion, wait 20 minutes then make a move.
Or have a 9 hour “stand off.”
Officer safety is paramount.
Arghh. Even in jest, Arghh.
Tim Pool’s hat is gay
New York is So overrated….
https://nypost.com/2017/12/30/new-years-eve-in-times-square-sounds-like-urine-soaked-hell/
Some people think urine-soaked is kinky.
NB: I am not one of those people.
Ted Sahara doth protest too much, methinks.
Ted (golden) Showers?
Can not help but imagine the awkward period in which naked-bed-man gets up, says,
“excuse me, i just need to go to the kitchen”
and shocked-at-door-man is like, “Oh, its right that way”,
and “yes i know”,
“oh, you’ve been here before?”,
“look just give me a minute, I’ll be back”
“its not like i’m going anywhere, this is my place”
“ahh”
(silence)
“which drawer is the cutlery, again”
“next to the drawer that i keep loose change and tools and stuff”
“that’s not really helping”
“well i’m not really feeling very helpful frankly. I didn’t realize you were so hungry”
I went to high school with a guy who came home early and found his wife in bed with another man. He kinds freaked out and was killed for it. The guy who was fucking his wife shit him dead with the guy’s own bedside pistol.
yeah, the scenario doesn’t really have a wide variety of “Ways in which this will end well”.
the best is really, ‘take out phone, take snapshot, press ‘forward to lawyer’, ring up, “yeah hi, Saul? yeah, so see the attachment. Yeah. We’ll go with the Plan B we discussed.” then just walk out.
Oh ye of little imagination. There is a way it will end well – they’ve been planning on swinging and she finally broke the ice.
What are you laughing at, it could happen!
the best is really, ‘
take out phone, take snapshot, press ‘forward to lawyer’, ring up, “yeah hi, Saul? yeah, so see the attachment. Yeah. We’ll go with the Plan B we discussed.”“there is an intruder in the house!” followed by 3 shots from your carry pistol. “Honey, I’m glad you’re safe!” Followed by a thinking pause. “Wait… why don’t you have any clothes on? And why doesn’t he have any clothes on?” Then you snap the pictures. “You’ll be hearing from my attorney in the morning” then just walk out.not really gonna win that one, leave the gun out of it, you have a point. You would Reward the Bitch, just bail,
IANAL
Yeah, I’m just being funny. Killing people for being in bed with your spouse is still murder. Snap some photo evidence of the adultery, and make clear that your “Honey” will have divorce papers delivered the next day.
“Saul?”
As in theeee Saul Rosenrubenstein?
The infamous triple-Jew
Goodman
No, as in Saúl.
From the third story –
‘workmates’
‘best mates’
‘girl I fancy’
ZARDOZ goes to The UK?
“dear deirdre” is Sun.uk advice-columnist
Yeah I figured, though it could have been Oz as well.
ZARDOZ knows no borders, a true anarchist.
most porn movie setups are more-believable than “house full of sexed up baristas”
I don’t know. Have you seen “extra cream and sugar volume 8”?
I stand corrected

People still pay for porn ?
Who knew ?

I’m not much of a fan of that guy (the presenter)
i think about half of his “i’m a very smart brit thing” is based more on his own affectation of a faux-posh accent.
Most of what he does is the equivilent of reading Wikipedia entries and add about 10% slightly cynical remarks to it.
doesn’t he have another channel that’s mostly lefty-politics? or is it the same one
I don’t know much about the presenter guy. As far as “smug youtube lecturer” goes, I think he’s better than Hank Green, but worse than Matt O’Dowd.
I loved Charlie Wilson. In those days an East Texas Democrat would be considered a right wing extremist today.
Once a political enemy of Charlie’s accused him of being a womanizer.
He replied,” of course I’d a womanizer. My constituents wouldn’t like me if I cashed boys”.

This is why we need common sense cunt control.
I made a bunch of typos in that paragraph. Now it’s on here twice. I’m ashamed, Thanks Brooks.
You worked on Christmas, typos are OK

If it pleases ZARDOZ, I missed the most recent books thread, and I wanted to add that this is a pretty detailed account of Brutal Exterminators going about it all the wrong way and stuffing the rest of us with the bill. I’m part way through and must say that it’s an excellent read, very thorough and well sourced, and makes a compelling case that the government monopoly directing the exterminators are lying sacks of shit who are never to be trusted.
*stiffing the rest of us
I haven’t read that, but Scott Horton was interviewed on the mises podcast when his book came out. It was well worth listening to.
He’s doing a webinar next week with Thaddeus Russell about the Afghanistan quagmire. I am looking forward to it immensely.
http://www.thaddeusrussell.com/courses/
Afghanistan is the result of the inertia of geopolitics that is oitdated as a result of fracking in the US.
Powerful forces once felt like we needed a pipeline through Afghanistan to bring oil from the east to the west.
Political inertia can be a mighty force when some people’s fortunes are hitched to it.
It’s like a wise person once said, ” It’s hard to make a man understand something when his income is depengent upon him not understanding It’s.

“Powerful forces once felt like we needed a pipeline through Afghanistan to bring oil from the east to the west.”
that whole Unocal pipeline idea was abandoned in the mid-1990s. it still seems to be cited a lot in the conspiracy-sphere as the reason we invaded in 2001 (or why we’ve remained so long)
i recall it being circulated in the very early days of 2001-2002. it was never very compelling

You may very well be right.
However following the money never seems to lead one astray.
If it is not the pipeline then what is it ?
Mineral deposits ?
I don’t believe the pubilcally or politically given reasons ever.
I consider them the retail reasons while the whodale reasons remain hidden from public view.
Imagine a pacified and grateful Afghanistan.
Look at its location in regard to all the regional powers at the time, and potential future powers.
There’s (at least part of) your answer.
But number 6.
Is there such a thing as a pacified and grateful Afghanistan ,
That seems to me to be a white blackbird..
Something that has never existed and never will.
Money seems to me to be the main factor, not shangri- lai
I said “imagine”.
That’s what would-be conquerors have been imagining for millennia. Our ‘Scientific Military’ thesis was that the US could succeed where the Russians, British, Persians and just about everyone else in Asia Minor had failed.
Because manifest destiny or something – I dunno – I wasn’t in the meetings. Strategically, a strong and stable military presence in Afghanistan was (and is) a highly desirable outcome.
The fact that we have no ability to achieve it is an entirely different issue.
“Following the money” would likely lead anyone far, far away from Afghanistan.
a simpler-axiom which explains failed policy is often, “never attribute to malice (or venality) which can adequately be explained by stupidity (or incompetence)”
I will add that to my list of stuff to listen to. I drive an hour and a half a day. I listen to quite a bit of podcast stuff. I listened to thaddeus russell debating with some left wing commie who was critical of the current left wing commies the other day. It was informative.
And also, as a special request to the editors –
I spend a lot of time each month driving. Y’all do a what are we reading article about once a month. A what are we listening to article would be great, if possible. I run out of stuff I’m interested in from time to time and input from the glibertariat on leads to good material would be helpful to me.
What sorts of things do you listen to? Music? Podcasts? Audiobooks?
I’m more of an audiobook guy, and I use the local public library to get new books to listen to.
Mostly podcasts. I do some audiobooks, but I prefer reading books to listening. What I like to listen to is something that will teach me something I don’t know. I read mostly nonfiction about subjects that interest me. The podcasts I like are usually history or here lately economics.
I’m mostly uneducated, so I read and listen to things that are educational in an effort to gain knowledge in areas that I lack.
Did you catch this post? (Reply to Lach.)
Thanks SP. I missed that one. That’s exactly what I was talking about.
Well, if you didn’t work so darn much, you’d have time to read the site and never miss a post! 😉

Seems perfectly cromulent to me.
The first two have gotta be fake.
The third one: grow some stones man. Ask her what the status is and if she can’t give you a straight answer, move on. 22 year old girls are confused about everything and if she can’t offer any explanation, drop it.
So my new S&W blows a fucking Glock out of the water. That’s all.
M&P? I’ve been eyeballing one of those.
Yarp. 2.0. If you have the cash, get one. It kicks ass. Best polymer pistol I’ve ever shot (I’m partial to steel frame CZ, 1911 etc.) but the 2.0 gives them a run for their money.
My buddy loves his M&P Shield. You get the 9mm?
Yup. Thing is beautiful; kinda spendy but worth it IMO.
Sweet:). I need to shoot more next year. I barely went this year.
I need a .22 pistol. Would like to get a can for it as well. This looks like a sweet option.
https://www.smith-wesson.com/firearms/mp-22-compact-cerakote-flat-dark-earth-threaded-barrel
Check out the sig mosquito.
I don’t think they’re making those anymore. Could find one at gun show maybe but would probably have to buy an aftermarket threaded barrel. I do think the mosquito looks cooler.
Ugh, no. SIG didn’t even make the Mosquito.
The M&P in 22 is quite nice, but also consider the Ruger SR22 – it’ll take a can nicely and it’ll shoot almost anything you put thru’ it.
I like my Ruger sr22. So does everyone else who shoots it.
My older brother has an sr22. I have shot it many times. I agree. It’s a nice gun.
Thanks, I’ll put that on my list to look at.
Compact or full size? Either way, what great guns. I have compact #2 on the way to my local arms dealer.
And I am way late to the conversation. But if anyone wanders by . . .
I really did like the M&P 2.0 and the M&P shield. But they were my third place pair of pistols. Glock was way at the bottom of the heap.
I liked the Springfield XD-9 2.0 and the XD-S a little bit better than the M&P’s, but not by that much. By the way, Glock really sucks.
In reality these were distant 2nd and 3rd. I never got past the first trigger pull with the Springfield 1911, which is why we wound up with 4 of them I guess.
And Glock really really sucks. It was the worst gun I shot until I tried the Barretta APX and FN 509. Those were utter shit.
You bought the Springfield EMPs if I recall?
Yes, my wife and I each have the EMP (3 inch barrel and night sights) for every day carry (not carrying yet, still have employment related details to figure out). We each also have the EMP-4 (4 inch barrel and fiber optic sights). The EMP-4s are primarily for range use (my wife joined a league — who knew it was in her). But, The EMP-4s are always loaded, cocked, and locked in quick access safes in the bedroom when not in the range bag or being cleaned.
Nice. 9mm or .45? You have any feed issues with the 3″ barrels?
All in 9mm. As of today, 435 rounds through each pistol. So far the only failure to feed was in my EMP-4 with Sig Sauer 124 gr V-Crown JHP. That occurred at about the 51st or 52nd straight round. The V-Crowns have a very thin edge on the hollow point and a wide hollow point. The leading edge hung up on the gunshot residue on the feed ramp. Cleaned it with a q-tip and fired 8 more without problems. The other 3 pistols fed 60 straight V-Crowns without errors. There is going to be a point when the gun gets dirty enough that hollow points are a problem.
We have Speer Gold Dots and Federal HSTs on order. We should be shooting those by next weekend.
The Federal HSTs are the Nick Gillespie of personal defense ammo. I’ve never found anything in 9mm that won’t feed them.
Good to know on the HSTs.
That’s great. I have Colt Officers Special .45. it’s my favorite gun to shoot but it can be picky about ammo. It’s the really short throat combined with the fat .45 bullet that has trouble making that corner into the barrel from the mag. Has never been reliable with Fed hydro-shocks. It’s an old gun so I’ve had to do some maintenance on it. Amazingly accurate for a short barrel gun. Stainless with black grips so a looker as well. I just replaced the slide stop and now slide doesn’t stay open after last shot so I need to figure that out. I’ve gotten my money’s worth out of it since I’ve had it probably at least 20 years.
So in total, we have 1700+ rounds in 4 guns with a single failure to feed with a hollow point in a semi-dirty gun.
Yeah and you were still well inside your break in period for the one as well so that is pretty outstanding.
To be clear. We put 100 FMJ rounds through each pistol three times (for 300 rounds). Then tried 3 boxes (60 rounds) of JHP. Three pistols shot 60 rounds flawlessly. The fourth shot 50 rounds then hung up when I started a new magazine. We are back to shooting FMJs for practice (75 per pistol today) until the new JHPs arrive.
For the money a EAA witness is a amazing pistol. I have a steel 45 and a polymer 9mm. Both are CZ75 style that come in 38 super, 9mm, 40, 45, 10mm. They are accurate, reliable, and inexpensive. ~$300-350. I was blowing out the 9ring all day at 15 yards.
I’ve heard good things about EAA but I’ve never shot one.
They’re pretty good, and while the Witness line is available, there’s no point in going Tristar/Canik/Sarsimaz if you want a CZ75-like gun.
The latter are fine, but I think the Witness has the edge on all criteria. Not wanting to be a sek-cyst or anything, but the EAA Pavonas are *also* very nice guns and come in all sorts of colors if you know a consumer who just has to have a reliable firearm that coordinates with xer outfit.
Just picked up my first 1911 today. It’s for the wife, but I’ll be shooting it more. Kimber stainless with a trigger job and new grips. 9mm not 45, as my wife likes the way they shoot.
My wife and I put a lot of rounds through the Kimber ProCarry and UltraCarry in 9 mm from the rental case at the range. They were the proxies we were using for the EMP and EMP-4 that the range does not have for rent. Nice guns, but they are fundamentally .45s tweaked to shoot 9 mm. The EMPs have a much more slender grip which I like a lot.
Yeah, those are sharp. Wife might like something like that.
I just want to say thanks to everyone that has posted stuff about firearms in general and everyone that provided direct advice to me over the last few months. It was instrumental in helping us decide what to buy.
Picked mine up yesterday. Tried a bunch of different guns. Most of them were larger than I wanted, even in sub-compact.
Really considered the Kimber mini-9 but it was about $200 more and SA-only. I figure that a carry gun should be point and click, not messing around with a hammer or safety.

Best quote from True Detective:
“The whole man/woman thing isn’t supposed to work. The only reason for it is to create kids, that’s all that matters.”
That’s the advice I’d give to all these people.
Lachowsky’s tragically hilarious anecdote about the guy getting killed by his own gun for the pleasure of seeing another dude’s dick in his wife is evidence enough of this truth.
Sometimes I envy the animals.
The one time I had a cheating girlfriend I was more pissed at myself than anyone.

Love as it’s portrayed is a lie. There’s only one type of true love, the diaper changing kind; ie, what a parent feels for a child and what a spouse feels for a demented spouse who can’t make it to the bathroom. The first is common. The second I would guess happens in one in a thousand marriages.
Love, as it’s portrayed, is lust. True love is a lifestyle. It’s something you work on every single day, because it sure as hell doesn’t come naturally.
I would agree with the trashman
Love begins as lust. For it to last, there has to be a process. For it to work, there has to be give and take, sacrifice, hard work, clear boundaries, and humility. There has to be a desire to make it work that is stronger than the desire to give it up when things aren’t going well. It also has to worth it.
It also has to [be] worth it.
Shortly after my parents’ divorce, my dad said something to the effect of “Why stay in a relationship that doesn’t benefit you anymore?”
I’ve tossed that sentiment around in my head ever since. I think there’s some truth in that statement, but I also think it leads to some pitfalls.
My faith tells me that my bond is essential and everlasting. To break it is spiritually and morally like removing an arm or a leg is physically. There are only a few situations where divorce is appropriate.
On the other hand, I think that society is littered with couples that are technically married, even though they have long been emotionally and spiritually divorced. Is it worth it to continue the charade with a spouse that has checked out? Probably not, but I’d hate to be faced with that situation. I wouldn’t trust myself to make the right decision.
I’m a big believer in the fact that 2 people working earnestly to strengthen their relationship will not simply “drift apart” or “fall out of love.” It’s only when one or both have checked out of the relationship that such things happen.
/drunken ramblings
The question of how faith and G-d fits in is a conundrum indeed. As you know, I am a believer in a supreme being and order to the universe. I also don’t see it as incompatible with evolutionary concepts of sexual reproduction an everything that goes along with it. If anything, I see G-d and the universe (inseparable really) as supreme economic concepts. Your father’s comment “Why stay in a relationship that doesn’t benefit you anymore?” is a valid question, but it fails to account for opportunity cost. What is the benefit? On what type of timescale do expect said benefit? How does it fit with what you expect of your own life?
At core, the true value of the man/woman thing is new life recombined in a way that benefits the species, as G-d intended. However, I am a free will absolutist with a belief that said free will is the ultimate divine gift. Our inability to see into the future defines our decisions; does the bond you feel with your reproductive mate outweigh the lust toward “strange”? We put cultural value on each choice, but looking at it from a cosmic POV (strictly IMO of course) each is valid and acceptable. Therefore, if your drive and your love leads you to imagine changing your spouse’s diapers as a more desirable option than banging a 20 year old, then that is the path you should follow. You should, of course, always consider the “collateral damage” of such choices, but your ability to live with yourself, and your massive burden of free will, should ultimately govern your decision.

I met a girl when I was 16. I married her when I was 19. We are still together going on 42 years later. No diapers yet.
The Mr will be 60 on Jan 5. I am 43. IS THAT SO WROOONG???!!
No. If I gave that impression, I apologize.
Not at all. I Keed.
To me, the age gap all depends on the age of the younger person when it begins. Is she 17 and he is 30?? Fucked up.
Is she 20 and he’s 35? also fucked up–why does he go for such a youngun’? Why does she go for an oldie? What experience does the younger party even have? (reverse genders at will here).
The older the people get, the less the age diff matters.
I met my hubs when he was 49 and I was 33. So that was not weird at all to me. It is kind of freaky when he turns a decade corner and now we technically have 20 years apart on our most significant digit.
But, you’re only as old as the woman you feel! 😉
I guess I’ve been fucking a grandmother for almost 2 decades (oldest grandson turns 20 next month). I must be pretty damn old.
Congrats on your long run!
We had our 10th wedding anniversary this past August. (11 years of relationship).
Cheers to many more years for you two and us two!
I am a “Step grandma” to a 5 year old and one more on the way. Kind of funny to me. Cute kid, horrible libtard mom. Maybe we can change that somehow…I subscribe to Koala crate for the kid to try and stimulate his brain.
Corrupt the child; frustrate the mother. Life is good.
I am 61 and Mrs . OneOut is 31.
Do we need to report to reeducation camp ?
We love each other and get along well on a day to day basis..
So what’s the problem ?
When your lover shits and vomits allover the place and your main concern is her well being and not the gross clean up , is that not love ?
Back in college the saying was, “when he holds your hair while you vomit, that’s love”
The ancient greeks would characterize it as storge, one of their 4 ‘types’ of love.
Unless you find regurgitation kinda funny in a sexy way. In which case it might be ludus.
That’s not the best quote from True Detective. AND YOU KNOW IT.
I do know it. That one just seemed the most relevant. I particularly like:
“You see we all got what I call a life trap, a gene deep certainty that things will be different… that you’ll move to another city and meet the people that’ll be the friends for the rest of your life… that you’ll fall in love and be fulfilled… fucking fulfillment… and closure whatever the fuck those two fuckin’ empty jars to hold this shit storm. Nothing’s ever fulfilled, not until the very end. and closure. Nothing is ever over.”
You’re really letting me down here.
Wouldn’t be the first, or the last, time I let someone down.
https://youtu.be/9qhqTaYU4r4?t=45
OK, you win. That is the best.
The man woman thing can work. I’ll admit hat in the end it usually doesn’t. However, even failed relationships can have positive consequences to both parties involved. I’ve bend mostly happily married for almost 7 years now and I’m a better person now than I was 7 years ago, regardless of whether my wife and I stay married forever.
you also need to read Anna Karenina
That’s a good one, it addresses the man/woman question well. What is it about Russian authors from that era having such a handle on reality? Crime and Punishment is probably my favorite of all time (except for Infinite Jest, but I’d only admit that to y’all lest I be labeled a hipster doofus).
misery and oppression
but seriously: art gets good when people are miserable and times are hard
(meaning, people tend to stop making stuff for the purposes of remuneration, and the people who end up making stuff are the ones that actually have something important to say about the world; or at least they’re more likely to be published/read)
when economies improve and times are good and there’s less risk of starvation or brutal death…. well, the art gets kind of shallow and superficial and entertaining. because that’s what people want.
i also think the russians have always some unique cultural advantages in literature and music. why, can’t say, they just do.
btw, i’ve been watching Boardwalk Empire off and on for the last 2 months, and season 3 seems to be basically “reduce every story to the same idea of ‘failed relationships’
the one person i think is the most-difficult to understand the motives of, is the agent VanAlden character. he’s just a bundle of all kinds of fucked up. but strangely still very convincing. he seems to want to be “good” (as in, ‘godly’), yet ends up rage-murdering a half dozen people.
I’ll check it out.
I watched the entire series week by week. Van Alden’s character was so compelling because whomever cast Michael Shannon hit one out of the park. Who else can do menacing yet vulnerable like him?
yeah. he gives good ‘conflicted-soul’ vibe
Good art is only created when we provide artists with nationalized healthcare, safe spaces and NEA grants.
And nitrous.
if my above “poverty and misery produces the best art” is true, then ‘govt subsidy and guaranteed support’ is probably the perfect recipe for the *worst possible art*
one of my favorite examples of “art” created with grants from the government.: a hiphop-themed, spoken-word/modern dance one-man show about white people ‘stealing’ land from indians.

Also does this mean you agree with the anti-capitalist writers that capitalism kills art?
So anyway, at the taphouse this afternoon, evening, I decided on the Union Snow Pants Oatmeal Stout. My gawds that name is almost so annoying that I want to hate it. Anyway, it’s ok.
You don’t need to make good beer here in MD, you just have to give it a dumbfuck name and charge $8 a glass and people will think it’s good, trust me on this.

Stay home and have some Cisco. Better alcohol bang for your buck.
What? Crisco is that hydrogenated lard that my grandmother cooked with and killed about 500 billion people in the 70s. Oh, Cisco, that was that neighborhood in Chicago that’s really bad, yeah? Did they also die from lard poisoning?

I read that as “Pro-Prehibition American Lager” and then spent several minutes wondering if Prehibition was a word.
Any WWI nerds? What do you think of the arguments that the Schlieffen Plan wasn’t really an actual plan let alone The Grand Master Plan For Victory? Very confusing debate.
Maybe the plan was more feasible with mechanized blitzkrieg than with horse-drawn transportation?
I’ve always been taught that it was the plan and haven’t read anyone arguing otherwise. os this a recent development in the field? Either way I’m interested in knowing more.
The underlying issue was a philosophical one, as I understand it. The problem was that Von Schlieffen seemed to put together a plan that was predicated upon a certainty, born of ‘Scientific Thinking’ that we see so much of today. A great, complex and overarching strategy borne of analysis and logic, which – unfortunately – anticipated a rational and predictable response. It’s understood that the prime thrust of the plan was offensive, presumably with the expectation that the advances thru’ newly conquered territory would be capable of systematic and effective opposition.
Von Moltke (Sr.), more of a realist, was of the school of thought that a plan rarely survives first contact with an enemy. This was a profoundly unsettling concept to modern German Military Science, and obviously incorrect, so as I understand it the Schlieffen Plan was ‘enhanced’ and ‘extended’ over the years leading up to 1914, even after Von Schlieffen had retired and had been succeeded by Von Moltke (Jr.). Once the war broke out and the Germans were fought to a halt on the Marne, it’s presumed that the rationale, and certainly the credibility of the plan were undermined.
Of course, the real controversy is that we don’t have records of what the plan actually consisted of, since the Abwehr Archives were destroyed in 1945.
As an Englishman, I find it easy (and satisfying) to believe that the Germans were victims of their own magical thinking, but objectively, it’s hard to prove one way or the other, although I can’t help thinking of that quote:
would NOT be capable of systematic and effective opposition.
The “scientific thinking” reminds of McNamara’s approach to Viet Nam. There was also a theory floating around about how graduated pressure would elicit “a conversation” and that the “rational actors” on the other side would behave exactly as predicted – coming to see that they couldn’t really win (without unacceptable sacrifice) and enter negotiations (which would be the U.S.’s out).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schlieffen_Plan
This gives some of the recent revisionism.
Basically it seems the “plan” might not have been an actual rigorous war plan but a sort of theoretical plan. One guy claims that it was just done to convince the Reichstag to raise the Army’s budget but there is some dispute. Another seems to be this plan was only for war with France only not France and Russia. Schlieffen seems to have thought that invading France in such a situation was not going to work. Then there is the German Army’s belief that such detailed war plans were useless since war is by it’s very nature unpredictable and requires a lot of improvising.
Sorry Gilmore but I think you might be on to something when you complain that libertarians don’t have a foreign policy per se.
https://glibertarians.com/2017/12/the-insidious-dr-fu-manchu-and-the-birth-of-neoyokelservatism/
Heroic Mulatto’s comments on China in the post are a good example of this. Plenty of talk about why China is doing what it is doing and how the US are hypocrites but no real actual “foreign policy.” American foreign policy perhaps but no real foreign policy.
I see a lot of talk about how America has no threats so its foreign policy is evil but China (and Russia) has (and has had) real threats so its behavior is rational and pragmatic. It really sounds like US intervention in Cuba, Iran, North Korea and Venezuela are not per se bad but that they aren’t threats so therefore the US should not intervene.
Also reading Rothbard I see some Leninist revolutionary defeatism in his foreign polocy writing. And that he was mad that Cold Warriors won out in the 1950s Republican Party over the anti-New Dealers who were non-interventionist.
Repubs in ’52 nominated the man most celebrated for the greatest intervention in European affairs in American history. Even at that, the consensus was bi-partisan. As long as the Cold War endured, the foreign policy consensus was unassailable, even post Viet Nam. What people don’t realize is that the Cold War was an exceptionally odd period of history – that only two powers dominated the entire globe. Normal human history has multiple centers of power of varying levels with alliances to counter-balance. The Cold War broke that, and now, the world is sliding back toward that and people are freaked-the-fuck out. They shouldn’t be, but no one really reads history.
Judging by the anti-war libertarians if it wasn’t for the US Empire then we would have world peace. Because peace was the thing before 1941 and power politics never happened before the Cold War.
Sounds like a strawman, or a very ignorant argument. The normal state of international affairs is power politics; that was condensed during the Cold War and now we are moving back to the norm. The “end of history” neo-cons were the biggest fucking idiots this planet has ever seen. Of course their influence was all out of proportion to their actual brain-power. Don’t go all cyto-toxic on me, please.
Wilsonianism must die, in all of it’s guises.
Anyway I mean that if you read Rothbard he openly stated how he hoped the mid-term elections of 1946 would be the end of the New Deal but that didn’t happen. And how in 1950s how rightists would ignore him in favor of cold warriors which he didn’t like, Hence his focus on non-interventionism, hope for whoever would be against the political consensus would be his ally and his hatred of the neocons.
Well I’ve never read much Rothbard. It appears he holds a grudge for things not going his way – was he a Taft kinda guy back then? Unfortunately, the Cold War tended to make non-intervention non-viable; though you could certainly argue that most U.S. interventions did not improve things as ‘planned’.
Yes he was a Taft guy.
Yeah well the world just didn’t work the way he wanted it to. Apparently he’d rather hold a grudge than deal with that.
How many times does it need to be said? That’s a feature, not a bug. Any policy other than “commerce with all nations, alliances with none” is the handmaiden of imperialism.
Now you’re just being mendacious.
Does that apply to China and Russia?
Yes.
In what way? Are you asking if I believe we shouldn’t engage in commerce with China and Russia or if China/Russia should follow the same Jeffersonian adage?
The latter.
They should, but it’s their collective choice to do so. We can only acknowledge their actions and deal with them accordingly.
Who is this “we”? Pet peeve of mine when I see libertarians using such collectivist thinking on foreign policy only to complain when others do it.
Also your foreign policy is still very amero-centric. Should Chinese and Russian libertarians say the same thing or would that make them American stooges?
Considering that you already know that I’m a Voluntaryist, I would think that any discussion of national policy within that framework would have the arguendo assumed.
Of course. Why should they not?
Does this mean that you think China and Russia are also “imperialist”?
That was rather restrained. I’m impressed.
Perhaps I am exaggerating but I do get a clear impression that people like yourself say that China is reacting rationally because It feels threatened so it is natural to want to create buffer states, puppet states, whatever. The implication seems to be that the US is not threatened so therefore it shouldn’t be doing that thing. Also the implication that the US is reacting for corrupt and self-serving reasons unlike China and Russia who are doing this for self-defence and for the national interest.
If Maduro was a threat to the US should the US overthrow and ensure Venezuela is run by a pro-US regime? That was the US attitude toward Latin America in the Past, especially during the Cold War.
In response to SS’s claim that China’s actions were somehow reflective of a particular anti-American/Western animus and/or general Oriental inscrutability.
I never said anything to that effect.
Shouldn’t China feel threatened? Do they have an explicit policy of “containment” that guides their relations with other countries of the Eastern Pacific to limit U.S. influence in that region? The Soviets had some very legitimate reasons for being paranoid when it came to U.S. policy.
Throw out all policy/thought based on the Cold War. There is no Cold War any more. There are not two great blocs.
The security of ANY country must consider it’s nearest and most consequential threats first. We have a greater advantage then Britain ever had – for we don’t have just a channel but two vast oceans that must be crossed to threaten us. If there isn’t a threat that can cross those oceans, then our situation is pretty damn secure. And our interests abroad are not the same as our security at home.
Well, thanks to our Compact of Free Association with the Federated States of Micronesia, we’re completely responsible for their defense.
Against these guys?
juris imprudent’s comment is the sort of thing I was complaining about.
You object to realism?
More the ignorance the implications of that “realism”. That international law is nothing but scraps of paper so complaining about US hypocrisy and ignoring the UN is nonsense. Or how the implication is that if the US feels threatened by, say North Korea, that what is wrong with the US moving against it?
I’m not following you. But I suspect it is because you are talking about other people and not what I said.
Sorry but I guess I’m more responding to my feelings of reading Rockwell, Raimondo and Richman for years. Alternating between “realism” and “principled” whenever it suits them.
You should do what the rest of libertarians do, ignore them.
Another thing that annoys is seeing that most “anti-war” movements are done for purely partisan political purposes. Anti-war generally means anti-Republican wars. The left accuses Trump as being a Russian puppet, implying that Russia is a major threat to the US, because it suits them. Nevermind that they also complain that he will cause nuclear war with North Korea which would mean he isn’t a Russian puppet.
Or reading about how HL Mencken was opposed to the US entering WWI because he wanted Germany to win. Or Randolph Bourne’s socialism and defenses of socialist violence. Both “anti-war” “libertarians”.
Also I’m Canadian where the anti-Americans are usually very unlibertarian. And most “anti-American” Canadians love the Democrats and don’t mind Liberals making deals with Republicans. Or how they hated NAFTA until Trump hated it.
OK, so you don’t like that libertarians get thrown in with the unprincipled scum that are anti-war when it suits them (but would love them some “humanitarian” military intervention)? Guess what, I don’t like that either.
Or allying with them for various reasons.
Nuts. closed the wrong tab.
Just opened a big Sam Smith Raspberry. Good stuff to go with my delivery pizza (I’m single and lazy).

Kawaii!
Also I find it funny to see Ron Paul, Justin Raimondo and Sheldon Richman bemoan how the US violates international law and is hypocritical while being all “foreign policy realist” which is a view that “international laws” are, to paraphrase Theobald von Bethmann-Hollweg, no more then scraps of paper.
Oh, these are the people you are talking about. Never mind, if that is what interests you, I’ll have no part in the “conversation”.
In an attempt to decrease confusion, I have aligned my RoadSplosives and Hayeksplosives avatars. I do not wish to link my protonmail (Hayek) email account to my work and lower security devices, so I will continue to use both.
Pardon the convenience. 🙂
RoadSplosives or Hayeksplosives should be the cause of the next libertarian schism.
Only time will tell.
Now that I am out of my woman’s place in the kitchen where miracles of stroganoff took place, I am comfortably seated at my laptop PC, so I am Hayeksplosives again.
(wait, am I my own sockpuppet??)
Crunchy/smooth, it’s all delicious legume paste to me.
It’s all over. I’m off the website.
But….but…. Muh Titties! *headlong through the picture window and over the horizon*
How about these? ( I do cut loose at the Minnesota Ren Fest. At work I am all high collar girl).
Dammit, sugar freed.
Next try. HayekExploding
(Also, don’t tell John. Because I am thicc)
Go on ….
In the case of my linked pic it’s less “Go on” and more “Scroll down”
I’m shocked (and a little humbled) that you’d out yourself like that.
Bravo.
That’s how real libertarians do selfies. No fish pout, no contouring makeup, just the damned truth.
That’s why we all love you so much. It’s all about the honesty.

^ What he said ^
You are rewarded with this.
Hah! That was actually pretty cool. And Milan is but a few miles from my hubby’s italian home city. Appropes.
Mother, Mary and Joseph! We used to call them “torpedas” back in the day! You are a brave woman posting that here. Kudos!
LOLZ. But you see the sarcastic smirk and hazel eyes that say “No Freaking Way”
Along those lines, when I was young and thinner, I got hit on A LOT, so I avoided bars. Then in my 30s after my injuries and illness that helped contribute to the “Thiccining” I was pretty peacefully left alone.
What’s weird is that now in my mid forties, guys are starting to hit on me again. I just don’t get it. Maybe they think I’m desperate and thus willing? I have about half a dozen pics of me and my husband adorning my cubicle.
I guess I should take it as a flattering compliment, but it is weird that I get more hits 50 lbs and 10 years later than I did back then.
My Pence-like policy now is to go to post-work bar gatherings with the Hubs in tow. Not only does everybody like him, but it prevents any weirdness.
The wife got hit on by some expat in a bar called “The Hub” last night. End of year party for her co workers. She told me about it when she got home. “I’m married.” He kept going. “I got a kid.” He kept going. “You’re asshole.” Scampers away. Keeper wife.
Straffin, isn’t it weird? I guess some guys don’t mind being shut down utterly, because there could be a slim chance they get what they want.
In my experience (in Europe), East African men (kenya, etc) are the worst.
The dating equivalent of panhandling. The ladies here that are in mating mode do it through their presence. “I seem to be running into this gal a lot.” Harmless. The insane talk going on in their noggins? Shudder to imagine.
There’s a school of thought that if you’re persistent and cocky enough, and you calibrate yourself, that sometimes, you’ll make some progress. It’s the pick-up-artist version of salesmanship. Never take no for an answer, any answer other than no is an opportunity to try another close. It’s not over until she kicks you in the crotch AND slaps your face.
Of course, it’s one thing to say no to a new set of Encyclopedia Britannica, and quite another to a night of unbridled passion with some strange who was just persistent enough to get your interest, despite the numerous and glaring reasons you should spray a whole can of mace in his face.
Just for the record, it doesn’t work that way with guys.
Rhywun and #6, you guys are both so right,
What’s difficult for girls raised in “polite society” like I was is that we are trained to tolerate improper behavior in others, though we never really see much of that in our youth or teen years.
Then we get to “adulthood” and the first time a guy gets in-your-face aggressive, all you know are your polite declinations. Eventually you have to tell him to fuck off, or tell the bartender to tell him to fuck off (why i dont drink alone on travel anymore).
Scary life experience: Went to Orlando for a conference with a male colleague in 1999. We went to a sportsbar, he played darts, and I sat at the bar and chatted with the fellows there. Next thing I knew, I heard knocking at my hotel room door, and woke up in my clothes on top of my undisturbed bed,
My coworker was at the door asking if I was OK. He told me the bartender suspected the jerk next to me had roofied my drink, so my coworker took me to the hotel and placed me in my room (no recall on my part). He was the best. I cried a lot when I learned he died in a motorcycle accident. He saved my life that nighht.
School of thought, No. 6? That approach sounds like a good way to get nothing good. Free riding assholes that exploit the social trust built up by normal human beings.
Well, that school of thought is the basis for these PUA assholes who infest youtube and elsewhere.
The problem is, that in a narrow sense, they’re right. People can act like that, and get rewarded for it if they’re persistent, but it “works” the same way a blind squirrel will find a nut. Some women *do* like arrogant, pushy assholes. Some do *some* of the time.
So some of these guys get lucky from time to time, but the whole edifice is a Cargo Cult; there are some behaviors and characteristics that women find attractive, and if a guy doesn’t have/can’t exhibit them, then they fake it; inevitably badly, and in a manner that is not concordant with the rest of their personality.
Ultimately, they work very hard at seeming to be a sociable, high social value individual, instead of actually becoming one.
Inevitably, they’re a poor facsimile of a socially valuable person.
.. oops .. yeah, straff, that’s the whole thing behind Dawkin’s The Selfish Gene – society has a limited but non-zero carrying capacity for ‘cheats’ among the ‘suckers’ and ‘grudgers’. It’s just how society is. If there’s one born every minute, there’s a target for the ‘cheats’.
There’s a reason why evolutionary biologists look up to Dawkins as some kind of God. *Wink*. The assholes need to exist. If they didn’t, would decent behavior mean anything?
Very nice. I was away but I appreciate.
Wow. A beewbs compliment from Q. My life is complete. 🙂
How about a ‘would’ from a Yeti?
Happy New Year, hottie!
This website officially has everything.
Happy New Year to you, too Q.
Happy New Year to Q and Tundra. And Mike and Pope Jimbo. Hope to see you guys again soon! (I will be back in high collar mode as usual).
Fuck that. You can trust us around them!
Are you still planning on something next weekend for Mr’s b-day?
Happy New Year to all!
Happy New Year to you fine folks as well! And Pope Jimbo, wherever he is.
Happy New Year, Mike!
And Pope Jimbo, wherever he is.
I think he saw Hayek’s pic. We may not hear from him for awhile…
Regarding the Mr Splosives bday, no real plans.
Can you recommend a Maple Grove bar for dinner and drinks?
I like that Redstone American Grill in Faketown a lot.
Would that work?
Redstone is great! If you decide to go, please let me know. I’d love to drop by and buy that beast a drink!
Let’s set it for Jan 5th at 7 o’clock at Redstone Maple Grove!
Tundra, I have texted you an attempt to get together Jan 5 at 6 or 7 pm (whatever works). I presume you have a better connection to His Holiness than I do.
Any other Minneapolis Glibs want to meet up with crazy “Fuck off, slaver” types this coming Friday?
Glibs sex ring!
I am liking 6 oclock better, but we can work it out via messages this week,
An “In the Mood” ring?
#6 you aren’t a Minneapolis-St Paul Glib, are you??
Love to have you Friday if so.
*MikeS has a sad*
Sadly not. Connecticut of all places.
But have fun yous guys.
Sorry, MikeS!! Would love to see you again, too.
Keep us updated on your next twin cities visit.
Nah, no worries. I hope you kids have fun. I look forward to my next visit. (may be a while)
We’re just glad you’re here:)
Boy, am I glad too! You guys are just the best.
What great conversations and advice and education and just plain silliness we have shared.
*Looks up-thread at Splosives’ pic*
And now we’ve shared…something else.
Well, you’ve seen one pair, you’ve seen em all.
So they say.
LIBERTARIAN WIMMENZ MOMENT!!
Well, you’ve seen one pair, you’ve seen em all.
WHAT?!? Aw, crap.
Demonstrably untrue. They’re all different, in delightfully subtle (or sometimes, not so subtle) ways.
And this from a guy who’s not awfully obsessed with mammaries.
Tits are the only true snowflakes; each unique, special and wonderful.
Not the only unique, special, and wonderful thing. Think…a little further south.
To be fair, even the same pair look and feel different depending on hormones, weather and other factors.
I am not a lesbo, but I sure appreciate the look of the female form. I like it in classical art, and in real life too. My hubs likes to bug me with the “Would” game when we are out. I don’t think the “full frontal” visual does any good for men, but man do I appreciate a nice substantial man ass. Once in a while when I see a flat-assed man and think, oh, that’s too bad.
I’ll re-start doing my ass-kegels then.
I concur, this is an oasis of enlightenment and absurdity that is a rare find.
*Group hug with no touching*
Hi Fives all around!!
Bowling night Fives! (the Whypipo of High Fives).
Kitchen talk: I was out of tarragon, and inexplicably it was not available in the spice aisle at Cub (local grocer chain). So I went to Bob’s Produce, a small and lovely independent place near my house and lousy with liberals. I bought a plastic envelope of tarragon there tonight, and it was the BEST TARRAGON EVAAAAR!!! Grown in Wisconsin and packaged by “Sugar and Spice”.
Dried leaf flakes, but really fresh and fragrant. That anise flavor in Tarragon that you don’t get in any other green leafy spice was in full display. Love it. Recommended for all MN and WI Glibs.
We have a chain store that actually recognized the need to carry “ethnic” food twenty-odd years ago. Their Asian section is diverse and sometimes amazing.
Yup, the best part of multi-culti is the mixing of food, music, dance, and culture. Why do people even kvetch about cultural appropriation?? It’s great!
I use a lot of spices and herbs but rarely ever use tarragon unless it’s called for in a recipe. I do use fennel seed here and there which also has an anise flavor. What do you like using tarragon on?
Tomato sauce for spaghetti, manicotti, pizza etc. And tonight, I put it in the Russian stroganoff (I make with sliced steak, caramelized onions, portabella shrooms, black olives, nutmeg [enough to make you trip balls] and various spices.) Toward the end, I add in tarragon and fenugreek leaves. And the sour cream, of course.
People drool openly at the table when I serve it.
I make alot of spaghetti sauce out of my garden tomatoes in the summer. I have never used tarragon in it before. I’ll have to try that this summer.
Anything you can cook that you think might have been cooked in South-East France or Piedmont, can usually benefit from tarragon.
Interesting! The hubs is from Piedmont area of Italy (Prascorsano to be exact). Must experiment more.
I love kitchen therapy.
Ah, one of them there “White-Wops”.
Literally! I am about 54% great brit, 16% irish, and the rest a combo of scandahoovian and Russian. So I am pale AF. But my italian (Northern) hubby has exactly the same skin color as I do! Whatever. No jungle fever in this house, I guess,
Tarragon’s actually one of the few things my French rellies use that I virtually never use at home. The French love it. Can’t understand why we don’t use more of it here in North America, but we don’t. ???
I just couldn’t believe it wasn’t on the standard spice aisle at the big grocery store!! Crazy.
There is no substitute.
I’ll throw some tarragon with butter on top of fish I’m broiling – swordfish or tuna mostly. I switch to marjoram for mahi-mahi or any other milder fish.
Ooo, good tip on the marjoram with mild fish. I usually break out the marjoram only for Thanksgiving dressing.
Thanks, Rumpole!
Great tips! Yeah I was wondering if you were going to say spaghetti sauce since that’s one of the things I put fennel seed in:) I love Stroganoff! Totally trying your version.
OK, there must be something really good for a fucking Dec 29 (Friday) dump…
https://www.politico.com/story/2017/12/29/huma-abedin-emails-state-department-anthony-weiner-319635
Geez, louise, did we ever dodge a bullet getting away from those scum.
The deeper the probe goes the further away it seems to deviate from it’s stated goal which was to find evidence of collusion between the Republican Party and muh Russkis. This is why Mueller is still in charge. I don’t particularly like Trump but he keeps doing and saying a lot of things that I’m agreeable to. I’m sanguine, if you will.
His executive order that for each new regulation, 2 old ones have to be repealed is the best thing to happen in a while, and vastly underreported.
He’s a troll, and I’m sure I would not like to spend an evening with him, but he is uniquely positioned to get some shit done that we haven’t seen in quite a while.
I doubt you’d get the date, but Mike Pence might be OK for a threesome.
Don Lemon assured us that this is all water under the bridge. Why are we focusing on the past when the First Lady is murdering trees?
Murdering trees behind cover of white cube vans.
Bah! I left the bedroom door unlatched and now have two obese cats and a dog who knows better lounging on their backs on the Mistress’ bed. It’s really quite something. I should get back to peeling those grapes. Fucking critters.
Anyone watching the current season of “Vikings?” Haven’t watch yet but I’m told the story is becoming more atomized and its hard to tell which hairy guy is which anymore.
But I hear there’s been some hot sex scenes. Has the series jumped the shark yet or is it still worth catching?
Stopped watching after they conquered Paris. I like my historical fiction to contain, I dunno, a semblance of history.
Ahem,
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Paris_(845)
Huh. I’d read that they never conquered the city proper and were bribed to go away. Agree to disagree on this one, metal smithing chum.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Paris_(885–886)
That’s what you’re thinking of.
You are probably right but I stand by my original assertion that the show plays fast and loose with history and thus becomes nothing more than a sea-sprayed soap.
All shows are “soaps” in the sense that they have serialized storylines which lots of betrayals and romances, which used to considered soap opera staples.
I could never get into it. Period pieces are great: technology, costume….and my favorite thing (anachronism spotting).
The plot just isn’t worth it….all boils down to mindless, confrontation driven and justified by nothing but pure FYTW. I can’t do it, even with the sound off.
I hear that! Like 10thC Paris looked like Disney had a squat over some random river that looked more like the mighty Mississippi than the Seine…
So like most TV, movies and videogames?
I really like vikings. I have been watching it from the beginning. The story is getting more fragmented (bjorn in North africa, flokie on his holy quest, lagertha at catagut, Ivar in england) but I think it’s still very good. The episodes could stand to be longer to be more coherent. I recommend recording a couple weeks worth then watching a few at a time.
I have been watching knight fall too. It has been good so far. The characters are starting to develop ano I like the story.
This is coming from a guy who watches very very little tv.
Knightfall didn’t hook me, the wife is still giving it a chance.
If you like stories about vikings, I can’t recommend this book enough.
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/438452.The_Long_Ships
It was written by a danish author in the 50s, I believe. The copy I own is an English translation and I have read it several times. I understand that it’s a hugely popular book in Denmark.
Bernard Cornwell has a huge series of books about the Vikings and Anglo Saxons duking it out. Repetitive but entertaining if genre fiction is what you prefer.
You must read The Greenlanders by Jane Smiley. Relentlessly bleak but well worth the slog. She never wrote anything else of note in my opinion and I’ve read all of her novels. Lightning in a bottle.
I’ll check that out. I enjoy a bleak novel. If you like bleak, I may recommend Finn.
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/102077.Finn
I think I’ve read that one but thanks for the heads-up. I’ve read thousands of books so it’s hard to keep order in my mind. I’ve caught myself fifty pages in and doing a “Hey, waittaminit” double-take more times than I’d like. Other books I re-read for fun and comfort.
I’ve got Knightfall PVRed. Fingers crossed.
OMG… I didn’t think this story could get any stupider.
#metoo #lovewins #boydress
I hear Danica Patrick’s diary is open at the moment, in case they are recruiting …
They’ll need some sort of diversity hire. It is known.
Do transgenders (or more to the point, transvestites in this case) beat blacks in the WhinyLympics now?
I can never keep up.
Depends. Is it Saturday?
The Big Ten is crushing it so far in the bowl games.

Pac-12 has made it too easy.
Nice shoulders on those Wisconsin cheerleaders…they can pull my middlebuster any day.
Excuse my manners. Fuck off, Tulpa.
On Wisconsin.
Not a fan, I just like seeing Miami lose.
Agreed.
Some general thoughts that came to me as I read the tales of woe:
The world is not what makes you unhappy; your beliefs about it are what make you unhappy.
Everyone has things they want to have or be. They think they will be happy once they get them. True, they will probably be happy for a while, but soon they will want something else. Such is the nature of desire and happiness.
The only lasting peace comes from realizing that pleasure is temporary. When you realize that, you will lose most of your desire and will be content with what you have.
Losing your desire for most things won’t turn you into a do-nothing. It will free your time and energy for what’s really important. You’ll be far more focused and productive.
Anyway, that’s how I see it. It works for me.
I’ve been having a great xmas vacation. Visited some family and many fun excursions on my road trip.
The protesters in Iran are burning down police stations and the police in Tehran have announced they will no longer enforce the dress code. I’m optimistic.
Peace through math: processes and outcomes are variable. Processes can be improved.
Where deteriation is inevitable (golf), content yourself with being able to schlep your clubs 18 holes at any score.
Watch for any reports that come out of Qom.
RE: Iran.
Burn the whole fuckin’ place to the ground. Burn down the Ayatollah’s Palace. Burn down the government buildings. Kill it all with fire. If the CIA was worth G-ddamn they’d be there already inciting more violence against the government.
Nice NAP you’ve got there, Q!
Don’t hold back, tell us all how you feel. 🙂
I’m just an observer and advisor….
The NAP doesn’t apply to governments. Governments are by their very nature aggression. Response to aggression is not a violation of the NAP.

When do we get burn town government buildings?

I have a feeling 37 has some bunny boiling tendencies
Very true, MIkeS, may have to give up Fluffy on this one. I can always get another bunny.

Daughter of NYPD chokehold victim dies
***
Dec. 30 (UPI) — Erica Garner, the daughter of Eric Garner, who was killed in a chokehold by a New York Police Department officer in 2014, died Saturday after a heart attack.
“She passed away this morning,” a tweet posted to Erica Garner’s Twitter account by family members Saturday morning read. “The reports are real. We didn’t deserve her.”
“Her heart was bigger than the world,” another tweet posted to her account read. “She cared when most people wouldn’t have. She was good. She only pursued right, no matter what.”
The 27-year-old mother of an 8-year-old girl and 4-month old boy had a heart attack on Dec. 23 and was on life support in a Brooklyn hospital.
A message posted on her Twitter account said she had brain damage “from lack of oxygen while in cardiac arrest.”

Sad.
apparently that’s a complement…

Crikey man, they are now playing That Smell on wifey’s novela and before that some killer blues rock stuff that I don’t recognize and neither does she. I’m starting to like these novelas more, great music and incredible eye candy wiminz.
Is Pan around? What does he think of Alexander I of Yugoslavia and Alexander I of Serbia? Fascinating stuff. The assassination of the latter was done by the same guys who arranged the assassination of Franz Ferdinand and helped cause WWI. The war benefitted the former and he later became a dictator (so much for “Making the World Safe for Democracy”) only for him to get assassinated. Then WWII, then Tito and then the collapse.
Franz Ferdinand is a decent band
Yeah, that song he did –Take Me Out– was pretty good.

Ore. court upholds $135K fine against bakers who refused to make gay wedding cake
I larfed at the “it’s not about the cake” signs. Sure retards. Whatever you say.
***
Dec. 29 (UPI) — The Oregon Court of Appeals upheld a $135,000 fine on Thursday against two Christian bakers who refused to make a wedding cake for a gay couple.
The decision marked another chapter in the longstanding dispute between the bakers, Melissa and Aaron Klein, and the couple, Rachel and Laurel Bowman-Cryer, which goes back to 2013 when the Kleins refused to provide service and the Bowman-Cryers filed a discrimination complaint with the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries.
The Kleins argued that they shouldn’t be forced to make a cake in celebration of a gay wedding because it offends their religious beliefs, but the court ruled that that defense is a slippery slope that would allow more types of discrimination.
“The Kleins seek an exemption based on their sincere religious opposition to same-sex marriage,” Judge Chris Garrett wrote in the opinion, according to the Register-Guard. “But those with sincere religious objections to marriage between people of different races, ethnicities, or faiths could just as readily demand the same exemption.”

Maybe, just maybe, businesses should be able to refuse service for *any* reason. Many put up signs to that effect already.
“Many put up signs to that effect already.”
But that doesn’t matter; our false idols in black robes have already decreed that some heresies against progressivism will not be tolerated.
It is a black hole according to Gary Johnson.
My favorite Futurama scene
Leela: The right to freedom of expression is guaranteed by the Earth Constitution.
Nixon: Aroo, maybe so. But I know a place where the Constitution doesn’t mean squat.
[jump cut to exterior of Supreme Court]

Also, in a rare double whammy decision, this court finds polygamy constitutional.
Using the 16th Amendment presumably? Written by Republicans who supported Monogamy.
So?
Let them do that. If they succeed in that, fine. If market forces force them to either change their policy or close their business, that’s great too. If there’s a bakery that’s “discriminating” (for lack of a better term) in that manner, I’ve got a market opportunity to go cater to the affected groups (and those sympathetic to the affected groups) and make a profit off it.

That was a pathetic decision. Now I get to saunter into my local Muslim-owned milliner and demand that they sell me a pork-pie hat! Insanity! In all seriousness, the gay couple that brought this about should be treated as pariahs. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE YOU PREENING LITTLE ATTENTION WHORES.
the couple, Rachel and Laurel Bowman-Cryer
The plaintiffs look exactly the way you’d expect.

You’d never expect people like that to let a minor slight snowball into a catastrophic shit-show. Right?
Nepal bans solo, disabled climbers from scaling Mount Everest

Dec. 30 (UPI) — Nepal has banned solo climbers, double amputees and blind people from scaling its mountains, including Mount Everest.
The Council of Ministers also voted Friday to bar boys and girls younger than 16 years old from obtaining climbing permits.

A tourism official said the laws were changed to make mountaineering safer after a record six climbers trying to scale Everest this year died. Min Bahadur Sherchan, an 85-year-old attempting to reclaim the title of world’s oldest person to reach the summit died in May.

Twenty-nine people with disabilities have attempted to climb Everest, according to the Himalayan Database. Fifteen have reached the summit and two have died on the mountain — Phur Yemba Sherpa in 2014 and Thomas Weber in 2006.

There goes any chance the Nepalese Commies have of being beloved overseas.
Let people do whatever they want… then offer no publicly funded assistance bailing them out for their stupidity.
Do the Nepalese publicly fund rescue? They seem more concerned with these idiots not causing Sherpa to die.
Well, because Trump wanted disabled people to try climbing mountains so that they would die and no longer cost greedy billionaires any more money, totally makes sense.
You which other Nepalese politicians didn’t want people climbing Mt. Everest?
Also those British imperialists were quite close to the correct height.

Academic: Teachers must prevent ‘assimilation’ of ‘whiteness’
***
The SIT Graduate Institute recently published a thesis paper calling for educators to “promote racial identity exploration” so that students of color don’t “assimilate to whiteness.”
Without active, ongoing efforts to cultivate ethnic pride, the paper warns, immigrants and students of color will “begin to see how society works” and learn to emulate those “whose behavior is acceptable and rewarded.”
***
https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=10317
So, time for some White Pride then.
Can we make some flags an’ stuff too?
Free Tiki torches for pre-schoolers that pass the paper bag test, black arm bands for the rest! Strength in Diversity, Comrade!
So immigrants and nonwhites should be ignorant of how society works and engage in unacceptable behavior? Who is the racist again?
Also how can they learn about white privilege if they don’t know how society works?
‘immigrants and students of color will “begin to see how society works”’
So our goal is to keep them ignorant?
Today on Wapo, there was a somewhat positive article about the tax cuts and how Trump and the GOP might actually benefit from it in 2018 and 2020. The leftists went completely insane. Among the more loony responses was one guy who ranted about how the Democrats only did not need the 30% of white voters in this country, but how they should just even refuse white votes. I asked the guy if he thought his math was a little off, and I didn’t even understand what the unhinged response meant. These people area about to be very disappointed, again.
Since when are Masters’ students “academics”?
Um, since it’s like hard to do and shit, shitlord.

G-d I hate Miami and their fans.
I like it better when the team sucks and the stadium’s half empty.
Their players are always so showy as well. Don’t be a peacock. Turning in to a decent game though.
It’s not just that I’m an FSU fan (as rooting for Florida teams goes), but I cannot stand UM fans. There are a few die hards, but for that decade+ when the team sucked you saw nobody wearing team apparel and the stadium was more than half empty (unless they were playing FSU, but that was mostly a Seminole home game). The city is nothing but front runners in every sport. It’s amazing how fast Miami Heat car flags appeared in July 2010 and how fast they disappeared in July 2014.
Oh yeah, and the city is going to owe $2.5 billion in bond payments on that stadium for the Marlins that nobody goes to because baseball was never going to work and will never work in Miami.
(though that’s one reason I like Hard Rock Stadium: It was originally built by Joe Robbie with $265 million in private money, and Stephen Ross paid for $500 million in upgrades himself.)

How the GOP Tax Cut Will Also Shrink Your Paycheck
https://www.alternet.org/news-amp-politics/how-gop-tax-cut-will-also-shrink-your-paycheck
***
Now, what happens if Democrats come into power and say that they want to build a national high-speed rail system, and need to raise taxes to 60% to do it. What happens to my pay and to yours?
For me, my net take-home income goes down from $500,000 to $400,000 a year, but I can easily fix that by simply increasing my pay to $1.2 million. After all, this is a billion-dollar company, and a little bit here and there for me and my executives is no big deal.
But you – and anybody else doing the particular job you’re doing – still need $50,000 take-home pay in order to live. So if your taxes go up, and I want to keep you as an employee, I’m going to have to raise your pay by enough to keep your take-home even.
This is why when taxes go up on working people – as they did dramatically from 1913 to 1980 – pay went up dramatically, too.
This is also why high-tax countries pay higher wages (and have better public services, paid for with those taxes). In Denmark, for example, the average full-time MacDonald’s worker earns around $45,000 U.S. equivalent, although about 40% of that goes to taxes to pay for the national health-care system, one of the world’s best school systems, and high-quality high-paid police who treat Danes with respect.

Vice President Mike Pence’s Christmas vacation in Aspen was protested by the neighbors next to the private home in which he was staying.
A rainbow flag with the words “Make America Gay Again” was posted at the end of the driveway to both houses, the Aspen Times reports.
The banner was hung by the daughters of the homeowners — and one of their girlfriends.
“You couldn’t miss it,” Pitkin County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Buglione explained.
Deputy Buglione explained the homeowners brought chili and corn muffins to the deputies and Secret Service agents who were posted.

random thought
During the Vietnam war, US troops had many cases of trench foot from wading in rice paddies. The easiest fix would have been to switch from boot to sandals so wet feet could dry out. But the military fashion police would have never allowed that. As it was, it was hard enough to switch from regular leather boots to canvas ones.
Not so much a thought as a sermon then?
Bureaucracy at its finest.
Sandals are a -50 DMG, so understandable. Also, ew, fuck sandals.
I know from about 12+ pairs of experience that good, well oiled leather boots with Gortex are waterproof for a total of about 40 hours of immersion, then it’s all over Viet Nam probably had a shortage of boot dryers and places to plug them in too.I usually rely on wadded up USA Today’s and a hotel AC unit (motion sensor thermostats suck) Immersion foot really sucks. Spare pairs of wool socks are your best defense. Cotton socks are teh debbil. Worst case I had was from dew and sweat in a North Dakota Summer
Yup: wool is the only hope. I wear it 365 and change pairs during the day if needs be.
I hate socks. I walked 25 miles in a single day in a pair of $1 Wal Mart flip flops. At the halfway point, I had a burger and a beer and I walked back.
Good times.
I want, nay, NEED something protecting my toenails. I don’t even go swimming at a public beach without some form of footwear. Flip-flops are what they are named, the Devil’s cruel joke that enables headlong falls down flights of stairs and random needle pokes.

Is there any spot left in America where we can get away – for at least just a little while – from leftist hysteria?
It’s getting harder and harder. Even at the home of Mickey Mouse.
Disney World in Florida is a special place that attracts about 52.5 million children and adults each year for days of family fun at what it calls “the most magical place on Earth.” But the theme park was unable to offer its guests an escape last week from a truly bizarre protest against President Trump.
A man who clearly was no Trump fan started screaming “LOCK HIM UP!” over and over again when a robot portraying President Trump at the Hall of Presidents attraction began “speaking” with the recorded voice of the real President Trump.
Malsky’s message is clear: even children don’t deserve a peaceful holiday if they happen to be born into “privilege.” They should have chosen more wisely when picking their parents, no doubt.
No one locked up Robot Trump. And although no Robot Secret Service Agents were around, actor and comedian Jay Malsky was apprehended by security staff members and escorted out of the attraction when he wouldn’t stop screaming.
Other audience members, presumably including children and their parents trying to enjoy their holiday vacations, had tried to get Malsky to stop ruining the performance for them, but to no avail.
Malsky helpfully recorded his protest for posterity and posted it on Twitter. Perhaps he hopes it will bring him fame and a great boost for his career, which includes sometimes performing in drag as Hillary Clinton, according to his website.
In fact, in earlier tweets, Malsky contemplated throwing an object or perhaps attacking Robot Trump in some way. Apparently, he doesn’t believe in the free speech rights of robots any more than he believes paying guests have the right to enjoy a day at a theme park.
“Anyone that’s upset I disrupted a family vacation can check their privilege and consider getting mad about the thousands of children being taken away from their parents because of Trump’s racist immigration policies, or the families of the hundreds of trans Americans murdered each year by transphobic and homophobic people, or the negative impacts of the tax bill on poor and middle-income Americans,” Malsky said.

Aaaawwwww yeeeeaaahhhhh.
Who woulda thunk that our first Black President would be born in Queens, NY and be an unapologetic crony capitalist? I was slinging jokes about Trump right up until 11/9. The reaction and subsequent re-reaction has been worth every minute of my purposeless, wasted life. It was a tsunami of grief followed by larger and larger waves of recriminations, finger-pointing and in some cases, downright despair. Delicious!
I can’t stand Trump. Still can’t. And I thought the flow of liberal tears would die off after he was inaugurated, and the fun part of his Presidency would end. But nope. Seems like it’s going to continue until January 19, 2025.
Maybe it marks me as a small, petty man but I’m loving this. I was an actual card-carrying Socialist for twenty years but my ex delved deep into the Mines of PC culture and it turned me away. I helped her get a degree in one of the “Social Sciences” (Sole breadwinner, working as a sawyer and later as a purchasing agent) and as soon as she was ready to graduate she showed me the door. Nope. Not bitter, not at all.
So far Trump has been an extreme amount of hilarity and he has actually been a whole lot better than I thought. Let’s see if it gets even better in the next act. I hope so. You can’t say that you are not entertained. That’s at least something, for government work.
I thought Trump would rule as a 90s democrat, but he’s done a few things that would make Reagan blush.
No pension, though. I’ve been feeling kinda sickly lately and having random coughing fits that lead to puke-fests. I know that I drink and smoke too much but I’m in good shape, wear the same size of pants as I did twenty-five years ago and actually carry more muscle mass than I did when I was an athlete.
