While sitting here basking in the glory of getting my second hole in one yesterday (191 yards, 4 iron), I realized I should probably provide links or something.
So here is my attempt to do so from my phone.
Chelsea Clinton gets talked about by Vanity Fair in a way that might surprise you.
Snowflake culture of intolerance and idiocy goes beyond college campuses. No kidding.
Stossel takes a swipe at Earth Day stupidity.
Some San Francisco residents get a taste of Venezuela. Most decide it is not good to have no electricity for a while.
Lonzo Ball’s dad is pure comedy. I wonder how much money his shit-talking is gonna cost his son.
That’s it. Also, I bet most of you enjoy the video more than the song.
NYT’s has one last cry over Comey and Russian meddling. I see it more as a pathetic attempt by people at the FBI to do one final round of damage control. I’d imagine their invites to cocktail parties are pretty awkward right now. The entire story is full of the NYT’s stopping just short of fully stating the obvious (Comey did not trust Ms. Lynch). Everyone involved in the Hillary email investigation was trying to cover their own asses. No one at the FBI thought Trump could win.
Entertaining read.
Don’t worry. They’ve moved on to Russia meddling in the French election. Note the opportunity to keep referencing Russia’s meddling in the US election for a few more months.
Not to mention that some of them (MSNBC) have moved on to blaming Trump for riots in Venezuela.
Seriously. I couldn’t make this up if I tried.
I saw that yesterday. I don’t know how anyone couod take msnbc seriously after that. That looks like one of those stupid ass prog memes that pop up on my FB from time to time.
Wait, what?
And she’s one of the left’s new saviors. Along with Maxine Waters. They are so totally fucked, it’s impossible not to enjoy this shit show.
Maddow’s going to run for office. Bank on it.
I just skimmed it. I think it is damage control because of the book Shattered that just came out but I haven’t read. I think the NYT’s is trying to keep the finger pointed at the FBI and Russia for Clinton losing, when, from what I have heard and read, is the new book shows some pretty big doses of incompetence within the Clinton campaign, and nobody wanted to deal with the real big problem, which was Hillary Clinton.
It’s hard for people who live and breath politics to understand, but the vast majority of voters don’t swing their votes based on this inside baseball stuff.
Wait, I thought the new narrative was that Trump was in Maduro’s pocket, that Maduro meddled in the election by contributing half a million dollars to a man worth north of 45 billion for his inauguration after the election? I cant keep up.
It’s hard to keep the talking points straight.
Even funnier is that that the NYT’s briefly mentions early on in the story linked above how the FBI believed she may have been compromised herself. They don’t explicitly say because of all the money she’s grafted over the years, but…
I still can’t believe that we are talking about Russian influence on Trump when Hillary was pushing for a reset in relations with Putin while taking $160m in donations from the Kremlin.
You and me both, B. Exhibit A in any argument that the “mainstream” media is actually the DemOp Media is the contrast between how they treat the most attenuated connections between Trump and miscellaneous Russians, and the rock-solid evidence that Russians with direct stakes in State Department decisions gave millions of dollars to the Clintons right around the time Hillary’s State Department made those decisions in their favor.
Celebrate Earth Day by going to the greens.
Marijuana buying without going on a list. Cue comments about disparate treatment for gun buyers, which unlike marijuana, isn’t illegal under federal law but has less protections.
Ideological Aggression? The breakfast of Statist Shitlord Oppressors the world over.
Have I mentioned I like Stossel?
If you could merge Stossel and Poppy into a sort of sexbot, would you ever leave the house?
Only if the mustache stays.
The mustache rides would be interesting for sure.
But are they free?
I guess it depends if you buy or rent.
“Some San Francisco residents get a taste of Venezuela. Most decide it is not good to have no electricity for a while.”
Wait, doesn’t the electric being off for a while help save the planet? And is this not the goal of leftists, to stop using fossil fuels and convert to unreliable green energy, which would mean a LOT more time without electricity? They should have been partying in the streets. Why is it when these leftists get what they want, they no longer want it? Then they blame it on capitalism. Idiots.
Yeah, they’re idiots alright. And the only way they’re gonna get SF powered by “green” energy is if they figure out how to capture the raw power of fog, smugness and bum piss.
What’s a NYC power outage, chopped liver?
Who gives a shit about NYC? And expect a lot more of those power outages after Indian Point is decommissioned.
“Why is it when these leftists get what they want, they no longer want it? Then they blame it on capitalism. Idiots.”
It’s the same story as when SF residents protested a proposed homeless shelter. They want to feel good about “helping” the poor by voting for all this stuff, but then piss and moan when it’s in their neighborhood.
“Wait, you mean WE have to live near those icky homeless people? That’s not what I wanted at all! I just wanted to feel superior and talk down to everyone else for their lack of compassion; I didn’t actually want to encounter those filthy bums on my way to the locavore organic vegan bistro!!”
http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2014/02/25/sfs-bayview-hunters-point-residents-protest-planned-homeless-shelter-in-their-neighborhood/
Actually, no. That neighborhood is an out-of-the-way ghetto. Nobody from the latte set is going anywhere near it either way. The complaint seems to be that the neighborhood is already a shithole so why are they making it worse.
Oh, I think I know this one.
FYTW.
And here we see the Total State stepping on its own dick, as well:
Even if the funding is available for the new homeless shelter, a zoning change is still needed before it can be built and according to the planning commission that could take up to a year.
Bureaucrats gonna bureaucrat, yo.
The college I work for has been trying to renovate a couple of old, crappy buildings that are still standing. The original proposals to do so were made in about 2000. The original plans, like full architectural/construction plans, etc. were “finalized” in 2002. Since then the plans have transmogrified into some absolutely stupid plan that would not be much of an improvement over the current situation with the added bonus of pissing even more people off than the original plan. Those dumber plans were “finalized” in 2012. Lately most people invited to “community discussions” about these plans want the original plans to be re-instated. That’ll probably take another 5 years at least. These new buildings have been 2-3 years away for at least the past decade. It’s truly breathtaking.
Just think for a moment how cheap housing would be without the red tape. It’s one of the few things that hasn’t gone done in price over time, and has almost certainly takes longer than ever. It’s a real mystery as to why.
“Wait, you mean WE have to live near those icky homeless people? That’s not what I wanted at all! I just wanted to feel superior and talk down to everyone else for their lack of compassion; I didn’t actually want to encounter those filthy bums on my way to the locavore organic vegan bistro!!”
Yeah, it’s like when they propose insane stuff like allowing the homeless to squat in people’s backyards. But by back yards, they mean YOUR backyard, not theirs.
I was kind of hoping Trump would respond to the Hawaiian judge striking down his immigration order by directing all migrants/refugees from the Seven Bad Places be housed in Hawaii and forbidden to leave pending further developments. It actually makes sense to keep them on an island away from the mainland if you regard them as security threats.
I think you should be advising Trump on this. That’s a great idea, seriously.
Even better, drop them off specifically on Kaui’i. Only 20% of the island is inhabited…plenty of room, plenty of chickens for them to eat.
The Big Island is far less densely populated, and Molokai only has about 8,000 people living on it.
Hey, whatever gets the eco-weenies to loose their shit over third world barbarians destroying a pristine, untouched island ecosystem.
It’s like how regulations kill the bus business. Even though having more and better buses would reduce fossil fuel consumption.
I’m pretty sure they were for fracking before it became successful, and then they were against it, but it’s hard to keep track of these things.
That’s it. Also, I bet most of you enjoy the video more than the song.
I knew what it was before I clicked
What can I say? I know my audience.
Also, HOLE IN ONE!
Congrats. How many celebratory beers did you consume at the 19th?
Too many for my own good, that’s for sure.
Awesome, Dude! It’s a pretty great feeling to do something perfectly for once! I got mine on a severely sloped 125. You have to skin the trees on the left and land it like the stork dropping a baby just to stay on the green but oh brother, what a feeling… Just the day before I missed my holer by about three inches so it was preordained.
In the playlist after clicking through to Addicted to Love.
That’s fucking awesome.
It is indeed.
When did she do that? Much better than the original Vapors video in the ’80’s
From the comments: “Dunst starred as the magical princess Majokko in the Takashi Murakami and McG directed short Akihabara Majokko Princess singing a cover of “Turning Japanese”. This was shown at the “Pop Life” exhibition in London’s Tate Modern museum from October 1, 2009, to January 17, 2010. It shows Dunst prancing around Akihabara, a crowded shopping district in Tokyo, Japan”
So I don’t know which is more surprising. That this video exists. Or that there is an intelligent comment on YouTube.
Congrats on your Ace, sloopy.
You got 2 yesterday? Or your second One ever??
::good edit faerie flutters by::
Sloppy? Wtf?
Second one ever. I was pretty stoked. Although I bogeyed the two holes after it, which didn’t help my round (78).
I drank a lot yesterday. A whole lot.
Nice. What was the yardage and club? And breaking 80 is always sweet
191 yards. 4 iron. But it was a blue flag on a deep green, so probably right at 200 yards.
Whoopdy shit, try hitting a mammal tank with a similarly sized kinetic round from low orbit…or your mother for that matter
MOAR Poppy pleez!
I’m Poppy
No, I’M Poppy.
No, the opposite of that!
This is the first time I’ve seen this “Poppy”… very interesting.
I kind of want her to start a cult. Or is it a cult already?
She’s not in a cult
It is weirdly mesmerizing. I can’t decide if this is just dumb, or actually very clever, but I’m leaning toward the latter.
I’m going with awesome. But I used to smoke a lot of weed.
Oh fuck. This is awesome.
I’m trying to decide if I should send this to my nieces… I think they’d find it funny, but I also don’t want to be the cause of them joining a cult. 😀
I had to do a little research and think about it some, but I think I would.
There’s something about a girl with nice lips mouthing the P consonant. Don’t really even need sound.
You need to do research to figure this out?
It is a would/would for me.
Ah, what the hell. She’s pretty cute. Would too.
Pfft, second hole in one. You should take golfing lessons from the Uns, they all got 18 hole in ones the first time they played golf.
French far left presidential candidate
This Melenchon sure is an interesting guy. So if he enters a run off with Le Pen, there will be a situation where both candidates want out of the EU. But not for the same reasons. For Melenchon, the EU is not far enough to the left. Instead he’d like to cozy up with these guys:
Sounds like a great idea, because communism has worked so well in the past.
I have it on good authority that those places just have state capitalism, and thus their failures are really because of the right wing. 🙂
Hmm. Yes, let’s make France more like Cuba and Venezuela.
They’re doing it all on their own + terrorists.
You’re poppy, great. I am the pompatous of love.
Anyone who wants to read the WSJ ‘snowflakes’ article but hits a paywall, try this =
https://www.wsj.com/articles/those-snowflakes-have-chilling-effects-even-beyond-the-campus-1492800913
i now realize that this is the exact link above
weirdly, i got a paywall clicking on the link here, but when directed from here to the same, got the article in full
Ain’t that about a bitch. I linked through RCP as well and I got the full story. But when I put the link here, it redirects to the paywall’d one.
I used to be able to use the “paste WSJ link in google, click first search-result”-trick to get by the WSJ paywall. It hasn’t worked in the last few weeks. I’m not sure what the magic-trick is now. I’ve tried opening the links in a private-browser window and it doesn’t seem to work either.
Have you tried searching links on the internet archive? Should display it, also doesn’t add to their click count.
this?
https://archive.org/index.php
Yeah. Most webpages tend to be screencaptured there, and as long as you have the original link, you can try searching for it. Good way to read news without giving them clicks.
If you Browse the NSA server archives, you will be sure to find it.
It’s interesting. Between this and their youtube vendetta (pewdiepie, etc), WSJ’s goal seems to be to actively deny themselves viewers/readers. I’ve historically appreciated their editorial stances, but with some of their recent editorial and feature decisions, I’m rapidly losing interest.
Least I can still read most of their “relevant” editorials for free via Early Bird type publications for free at work.
I was going to write something about how posting articles behind a paywall is an act of aggression, but you rectified yourself.
That worked!
It’s all perfectly clear to me. White men are too smart to accept global collectivism ruled by an oligarchy of no doubt mostly old white men. So instead the leftist elite need to try recruiting the noble savages, aka people of color, to help usher in this new golden age of utopia where everyone is equal (equally poor) except for the ‘important’ people, of course.
I mean, in effect, that is exactly the message they’re pushing.
“Academic intolerance is the product of ideological aggression, not a psychological disorder.”
Por que no los dos?
My thought exactly. I think the ideology and the aggression are both rooted in psychological disorder, namely, a delusionary mindset that reality is different than it actually is.
They are profoundly subjectivists. They deny objective reality when it conflicts with their subjective desires/views/feelings, etc. Hence, “Perception is reality”, “A person is whatever sex they believe they are”, and the whole “Muh feelz!” immaturity.
http://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/local/detroit-city/2017/04/21/second-doctor-arrested-genital-mutilation/100741450/
A second doctor arrested in the FGM case in Michigan. But remember, diversity is our strength.
This is an interesting case, because the cultural group these people are from is actually based in Mumbai. My wife is from there and had no idea that these people do this.
No doubt this FGM will be included in the left’s doctrine of ‘pro-choice’ before long. Because white people or patriarchy or something.
The clash between the Western feminists and Islamophiles* should be interesting.
* Islamophiles = the only word I can think of for non-Muslims who defend and justify every bad things that Muslims do.
perform mutilations
Again, we don’t hear male circumcision referred to as mutilation.
From VF article on spawn of Evil Cunt and The Rapist:
“she says she has an “embarrassingly large” collection of books on her Kindle”
Yeh, but did she actually *read* them?
“Chelsea, people were quietly starting to observe, had a tendency to talk a lot, and at length, not least about Chelsea. But you couldn’t interrupt, not even if you’re on TV at NBC”
Get her on Kennedy.
I don’t follow her at all, and haven’t really read or seen much at all of her “work”, but the excerpts I have seen make her look genuinely stupid. The kind of stupid you get when you live in a hermetically sealed bubble of sycophancy. Its possible if she left her bubble she might not come off as a such an idiot, but holy shit, does she ever across as an idiot.
And she looks more like Webb Hubbell with each passing year, although the plastic surgery has disguised some of the more obvious features they share.
I don’t think she’s dumb. Just, as you said, incredibly sealed off from the rest of the world and pretty much just dead inside. A lifetime of having her ass kissed because of who her parents are and having things handed to her.
All you need to do is make serious pseudo-intellectual poses for magazine covers and presto! You get to offer *insights* on ‘why Trump is bad m’kay?’
She suffered from Millenialitis before it was even cool
yes, she really does come across as someone who is unbelievably stupid, but has always been told that she’s witty and brilliant. I knew a lot of very very rich kids growing up, and it was a pretty common feature. They never needed to try very hard at anything because whether or not they aced the test, they were going to Harvard anyway, and once there were surrounded by many others exactly like themselves.
It inspires a certain kind of glib-self-confidence, where = “Whether im right or wrong, It *doesn’t matter* = because as long as *i* say it, its more important than what someone else says” I’ve actually had some very rich/powerful people say this directly to my face more than once. ‘Being right is not as important as being-‘Me'”
Its a stunning admission that ‘connections + social-prestige’ are what really matter. No one listens to ‘smart people’ unless they have power. If you have power, you don’t need to be smart.
See: Trudeau, Justin.
Brewers Association to “crack down” on sexist beer ads and labels
Better take than the nannies at boingboing
Poor St Pauli Girl. If she needs a place to stay for a while, let me know!
How else will small brewers get rid of their less than stellar stock?
BUT! You know this is exactly the type of “free market regulation” libertarians talk about taking the place of state regulation.
I think it’s dumb, but it’s their right.
Sure. This is way better than the state coming and saying “thou shalt not”, and it is a voluntary association. They can do whatever they want.
And we are free to say we think it’s idiotic and pointless.
I also see and opportunity for a new business trade group to form that is not ran by fucking morons.
Leave Polygamy Porter alone!!
Beer labels are regulated by the Treasury Department.
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/08/12/meet-the-beer-bottle-dictator.html
Yes, but that’s a separate problem.
Christ, those snowflake assholes get everywhere. They are just incapable of taking a joke.
My GF is pretty feminist, and she’s never said word one about beer labels being sexist, because it’s just a name, and not worth getting your panties in a bunch about.
Oh FFS.
Yeah. You want minorities in the business? Open a fucking brewery and hire them.
Problem solved.
Only, the people who actually care about this have no ability to run the businesses or industries they are criticizing.
It’s sort of like how there’s not enough women in STEM fields. Now the same women whining about that, have no interest in STEM, they just want to whine.
I’ll admit….cheesecake pinup labels like Old Dominion or Lagunitas do make me check the listing twice 🙂
That said, they’re still hit or miss. (Old Dominion beers that is).
It leads to this link

“Women share their stories of mansplaining, misogyny and beer.”
re: McDonald’s snowflakes piece @ the WSJ
I haven’t read that Lukianoff/Haidt piece in a while, but I don’t think that’s actually what they said at all…. they said that students *claim* its about ’emotional well-being’… and maybe that – as a tactic to pre-empt their constant self-victimization – colleges should tell them if they’ve got problems, “they should seek (medical) help” = not impose demands on others.
anyway, she does make a (semi) good point in the following paragraph
I think it would be incorrect to pretend that heterosexual white men are universally immune from the SJW victim-culture, despite often being cast as the “enemy”. Many of them willingly play along w/ the whole ‘safe-spaces/words are violence/structural oppression is everywhere’ narratives. The standard joke is that they do it “to get laid”, but i think its far more about simple peer-approval (aka the Grand Funk Railroad-theory of group-cohesion).
Basically, I think McD tries to handwave aside some of Haidt/Lukianoffs thesis, but i don’t really think its convincing and i don’t think its even necessary for her bigger points about how the SJW/Victim culture thing might expand to the wider world.
Unfortunately there’s not much room in her piece for this case. It amounts to a single citation at the end =
Its one thing for a few federal offices to mention this stuff in a few of their Powerpoint presentations. Its another thing for these pandering-exercises to actually materialize in the form of policy. (like the way Title IX does)
I think she might have done a better job by substantiating that point further.
MacDonald is too busy sucking cop dick to think clearly.
Yeah, I follow the Manhattan Institute posts and they have a lot of good stuff but also two huge blind spots in “police” and “drugs”.
That piece she did about a “war on cops” was absolutely terrible
that said, she’s written a half-dozen other things I think were very well done = well researched, well thought out, well written. In fact, even the war on cops story had 1 or 2 good points buried in a pile of nonsense.
I tend to dislike the idea that once someone writes 1 terrible thing, or has a terrible opinion on a single topic, that it invalidates them entirely. Hitchens received this sort of condemnation from the Left because of Iraq, and while i disagreed with his case myself, i thought it was one of the few good arguments about why invading Iraq could be justified.
i think there’s an important difference between a good writer with occasional bad-opinions (like McDonald), and bad writers with universally-terrible opinions (like, for instance, Amanda Marcotte)
McDonald’s piece on campus rape was excellent. Anyway, I agree that having a terrible opinion on a single topic, or even several topics, does not invalidate someone entirely. Although some people do think that way. Like that computer guy who got fired for donating to an anti-gay-marriage group. But it’s selective. These people still make exceptions for their own ingroup. As Obama had the same public position on gay marriage at the time that guy donated.
I think the problem I have is that there are people on other sites (David Thompson’s blog comes to mind) who treat MacDonald’s cop stuff like the gospel truth, and can’t accept that the cops are generally thugs regardless of race. I try to post double-standard and police brutality stories where the victims are white, and people still continue to repeat the idea that because more blacks are convicted of crime, any black person who’s thugged against by the cops must have deserved it.
I have a cousin who is a full blown SJW. She actually has a degree in women’s studies from FSU. Her parents are wealthy and she was raised in pensacola. A few times a year she comes to visit and we all meet on my grandparents farm. My 4 brothers and I are basically rednecks.
It’s always interesting when she brings a boyfriend. It’s always a demasculated white boy SJW who is totally out of place on the farm. They usually stay a few days. You can tell the guy is unnerved by us at first, but always ends up coming around to our ideas after a couple days of rednecking it up. I’m sure they all go back to their bubbles and continue being SJWs after leaving the farm. It’s always interesting to me though how much my cousin loves to come see us and how her boyfriends always have such a good time with us even though our core beliefs are antithetical.
You removed the person from their bubble. Since this stuff is mostly about social signaling and belonging to the right group, which is the group nearest them, they would eventually become one of the rednecks if they were in that environment for long enough.
“It’s always interesting to me though how much my cousin loves to come see us and how her boyfriends always have such a good time with us even though our core beliefs are antithetical”
They got a chance to get away from their smug douchebag comrades for a while and found out that it’s good. Remember that SJWs are not happy people and they are not enjoying themselves and the people they hang with are just as unhappy.
A close friend of mine will occasionally post things which I know they don’t really believe. When I comment on the post or ask them about it they say that their SJW friends made them post/say it or else she’d be ostracized.
Of course she could just be saying that, but if it is true, that is pretty fucking depressing.
I think the whole participation trophy angle is overplayed and things are much simpler. We have a generation coming up in Millennials who were pretty much spoon fed content throughout their entire childhood glorifying tolerance and the victim hood of oppressed people. How many movies, books, and other forms of media have beat into the heads of youths how important the first black ____ was? How many films have portrayed whites who fought against intolerance in bygone eras as saints? Then you have the ridiculous level of hysteria directed at the Bush administration (I don’t think people remember just how often he was accused of hating black people – particularly in the second half of his administration).
Basically, being a minority was already being glorified to some extent in the ’90’s, but it went from dumb white kids emulating black culture to dumb white kids being able to signal how great they are by championing it and other forms of victim hood. From there it’s just a short hop, skip, or jump to everyone wanting to be a victim in some way. It makes you special.
It’s not tolerance they’ve been pushing, it’s acceptance.
There’s nothing wrong with tolerance, that’s just “I’m not going to physically or legislatively assault you for being x.” If they stopped there, no big deal, but they’ve been pounding acceptance and all being friends and shit into an entire generation’s heads for 2 decades now.
I was just mentioning the other day that I’ve noticed that over the past decade, the leftists that I’ve been around have developed this thing where as soon as they perceive a ‘problem’, no matter how big or small it is in their perception, they immediately go to ‘legislation’ as the solution. They’ve completely abandoned any other possible solution for anything. Now it’s only about what legislation is needed, not IF it is needed because it’s always needed.
Of course. And the question is always, “what NEW legislation can we introduce to solve this problem?”
They never ask, “is there legislation that might be at least a contributing factor to this problem?”
I think the term “Affirmation” is more accurate.
There is a consistent conflation of ‘Tolerance’ with ‘Affirmation’ in their rhetoric.
They don’t believe in the real concept of ‘tolerance’, which is merely passively accepting the right of other Points of View to be expressed = not that one need to consider those points of view ‘valid’ or even grant them any respect.
They demand Affirmation = that people not only grant space for alternative points of view, but that they pretend that they are “equally legitimate” , which is effectively just a way of saying that you’re never allowed to criticize anything.
Its basically a demand for cultural-relativism = pretending there are multiple “truths”. Its the end of any debate because it basically says that disagreeing with people’s arguments is “hate”.
Isn’t that basically the same thing as acceptance though? In both uses of the word, they’re wanting you to accept/affirm people’s POVs as legitimate.
No, i think ‘acceptance’ is more vague, and could be rhetorically spun in 2 different directions depending on the usage.
You can tolerate opinions with which you disagree. someone could say, “I accept your argument, but i disagree” and they’d actually just be describing ‘tolerance'”
Or someone could say, “I accept your argument” and imply its inherent validity. Its just too easily used to imply either meaning.
Whereas “tolerance” and “affirmation” are more clearly-distinct ideas. Tolerance has very low “implied approval”. You can tolerate bloody-awful things. “Affirmation” is very explicitly stating that no negative judgements are possible.
I know this is all just petty semantic-quibbling, but i think its important when dealing with these SJW types to get them to talk about the differences between these ideas.
because too-often they claim they just want “tolerance”, when what they’re really demanding is immunity from criticism. Tolerance doesn’t imply any such protections.
I think SP summed it up nicely, you tolerate a crying baby on a plane. That doesn’t mean you like crying babies, but there’s nothing you can really do about it.
They are not pushing toleration or acceptance.
They are pushing dominance (by them) and submission (by you).
So. Chelsea is a vapid princess.
Who noticed?
She’s perfect for the left.
The way they’re building her up reminds me how the CBC and the network media built up and fawned over Justin Trudeau. And those sit down interviews with network anchors….ooof.
I read that article earlier this morning. That guy is going to get a bunch of shit for writing that. Personally, I hope they keep pushing Chelsea, Maxine and the other blithering idiots in the progressive lineup. The majority of the country outside of their tribe sees them for what they are.
“The majority of the country outside of their tribe sees them for what they are.”
I think some on the mainstream left were really surprised at how poorly Hillary did and she’s done nothing to make that situation better. I think we’re going to see more attempts to have the Clinton’s rewritten out of the lefts history because they don’t want to get their asses kicked like that again.
It’s really good. Especially for VF.
I enjoy writers who can venture outside of the hive.
Alone and In Disguise, Vlad the Impaler Walked Into His Enemy’s Camp to Prepare A Deadly Ambush
Simplified version, but who cares.
Huh, didn’t know that Vlad lived at the Ottoman’s court as a child. Interesting. The More You Know.
I’ll give you a few hints as to why Vlad may have hated Turks so much. Hint – it may rhyme with odomy.
Cantata me?
“Vlad, have you ever been in a Turkish prison?”
Or in his case, The Moor You Know.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8X_Ot0k4XJc
*narrows gaze*
My favorite Vlad story is about how he put a gold chalice in the city center. Unguarded. Nobody would touch it. Now that is state power, Slaver.
Slightly OT, but did anyone read John Keegan’s essay on the What-If scenario of Hitler invading the Middle East in 1941 instead of the Soviet Union? Can’t find the original essay, but this is pretty close.
Huh, I was trying to track down that one Shania Twain video forgetting that that’s a direct response to Addicted to Love and found that Ingrid Michaelson did a gender-swapped Simply Irresistable a few years ago for her Girls Chase Boys song.
And because I’m in a benevolent eye candy mood. This might be a better balance of ear candy and eye candy though. All depending on one’s preferences of course.
Multiple links. *Licks own cat butt*
Whatever you’ll feel better after link three or four depending on whether you like girls in marching band outfits with heaving bosoms or girls on roller skates and short shorts more.
I’m just gonna relax. Been a long day, many beers. Now winding it down with some fresh ground coffee.
I’m not sure that’s the proper beverage order of operations.
Another beer isn’t going to help. The coffee won’t hurt.
Pictured: Straffinrun.
Why is that even a thing?
Ah, rollersluts. Good work.
1 – is the rollerskating CGI? my eyes/instinct tells me they’re just dancing, and the rollerskating was ‘shopped in.
2 – who the hell names themselves “Chet Faker”?
Anyone who gets the reference will hate your music even more than they already did. I actually liked the music, but his name kept jumping up and me and saying, “But look! i’m a douche!”
ps. i enjoyed the hot girls skating regardless of its reality/CGI quality
No, I think the skating is legit, the camera crane angle and lighting give it that weird uncanny effect, kind of like when someone uses a flash to fix a brightly lit backdrop and it looks just off enough to look fake
I’ll buy that.
Its also possible there was some CGI maybe to make it one-take-seamless. Like this.* (also very eyecandy rich)
Agreed. There’s definitely something CGI about him sitting in the car at the end and the transition. And they could certainly green screened instead of on a road, but I think the actually skating movements are real.
That said…. I would love to see the blooper-reel
Roller skating with Linda Blair.
A little more derby-esque.
A good roller derby bout is a lot of fun, but it seems to be a little more complicated lately with the declining availability of roller rinks. Will be checking out the Charlottesville team this year starting next month though.
And of course I forgot about this one. Not sure if anyone still uses ramped tracks though, everything I’ve seen is flat track these days.
There’s still a banked rink league in the LA area. It’s apparently a lot more fun, but banked rinks are basically only used for derby and are more expensive to maintain even without accounting for the loss of possible revenue from using it for other purposes.
Is it earth day? Here is my swipe at the climate change liars.
http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/20/us/louisiana-climate-change-skeptics/
For my whole life I have been hearing about the perils of Louisiana’s loss of coastline due to sinking land and erosion due to the lack of sedimentary deposits to build it up from the taming of the rivers. I didn’t realize that rising seas had a localized effect. Maybe it is a zero sum process because seas appear to be lowering in other areas.
Earth day, you say?
It’s pretty wet out from the storms last night and I have a brush pile that needs burned. I think a couple tires and 20 gallons of used hydraulic oil will get it burning.
Or smoldering for a long time.
The coastline is eroding because of the Mississippi Lock and Dam system. Everyone knows this, so you know when someone blames “climate change” they’re lying.
They basically just tack global warming as a cause onto any environmental issue people have been bitching about for the last half century and no one questions it.

I was asked today what I thought of ah-ss day. They’ll get the “r” sound eventually.
No, you damn redneck, it’s earth WEEK! Because of you deplorables we are no longer able to save the planet in just one day, it takes a whole week. And next year, if you deniers are still around, it’s going to be earth month! We’re warning you! REPENT!
I’m really hoping that’s just sarcasm and not serious- ah goddammit.
Ugh my alma mater. “We’re woke too!”

Milo Unveils ‘Free Speech Week’ At Berkeley To Tackle Feminism, Islam, BLM
I wonder if they’re going to burn their campus to the ground in protest.
In other news, in keeping an eye on the AntiFA commies, there is some source of amusement of late. I can’t tell if 4chan’s /pol/ started a bullshit rumor just to fuck with them, or if it really is true, but the claim is that ACADEMI (formerly known as Blackwater) has been hired by Ann Coulter as private security for her speech. AntiFA seemed downright terrified of that possibility given that ACADEMI comprises former soldiers who are well-known not to fuck around. It’s kinda funny watching them go from pants-shitting mode to some of them declaring that Coulter isn’t a “fascist” anyway so they have no need to attack her event. Either way, I have yet to see any corroboration from a reputable news source (which are those anymore?) so I suspect that it’s an op to give the revolutionary wannabes a couple of extra hershey stains in their skinny jeans.
I thought Blackwater became Xe. Or was that just the next company started by the original founder?
-[Wikipedia]
it changed its name twice
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/muckraker/xe-formerly-known-as-blackwater-changes-name-to-academi
It no longer identifies as Xe.
These pronouns are getting so confusing.
Xe said it.
That’s gold, right there.
4Chan /pol/ is going to be the Paul Revere of our day. And that’s sad.
Someone should really have gone to town in spreading around the fact that Erik Prince is Betsy DeVos’s brother. Might have gone a ways towards stopping the assholes blocking her from going into the school.
It sounds like just a /pol/ rumor, but seeing the response on Reddit has been hilarious.
“Didn’t ACADEMI kill a bunch of people in Somalia and help train ISIS?”
“A guy I knew worked for them for a while, and he said they like hurting leftists just for fun!”
“The worst part is, the law is totally on their side! They’ll end up mowing down protestors in the streets and nothing will happen to them!”

A peek into Lizard’s future
I’d imagine they would be pretty skittish regardless seeing as how they got their asses kicked pretty badly just about a week ago.
There has already been talk on their part about escalation – combat training camps and role specialization. On the other hand, they are almost certainly infiltrated by people who know their politics well and want to see a bunch of idiot commies get declared a terror organization and shut down by the federal govt.
It’s a tricky situation. As long as they keep their violence low-key enough that they don’t kill anyone, they’ll be able to at least pretend at holding some moral high ground (i.e. “see, they really are fascists, this proves it!”). If someone baits them into murders, they’ll be dismantled quickly as all real support they have from the remaining 25% of Americans who don’t already hate them evaporates completely.
LOL there’s a link in there to a story a Milo white-males only scholarship. Dayum… that is A+ trolling.
I don’t usually click the links to other stories, but you’re right, that one is super funny.
Math And Naval ROTC Student Talks Winning Milo’s Privilege Grant
There were scholarships at my University for people of Polish descent. I don’t think it was that much money, but there is certainly precedent for it.
Which university was that? Pretty sure I could qualify.
SUNY Buffalo.
But like I said, it wasn’t much money. I’m only half-polish, not sure what the cutoff is.
I remember volumes in the library listing all the scholarships available nationwide. I may have applied for a few random ones but it was one of those “guidance counselor” things back in the 90s. Use those catalogs to search for free money for school. 99% of them were for specific groups/organizations/affiliations, etc. Certainly precedent in specifying who can be eligible for something like that.
Thing is, the idea really shouldn’t be that funny. I saw a study a while back showing that white male college enrollment by high school graduates has dropped below almost every other demographic. I think only black males are lower, and not by much. If this was happening to any other demographic there would be much moaning and gnashing of teeth, calls for targeted scholarships, and so on.
So, I thought they had gotten rid of Milo?
“Cinco de Milo”
LOL. This guy is a master troll no matter what you think of him. I’ve always found him to be at least articulate. And cannot remember him ever saying anything that I found to be offensive. My opinion of why the left hates him so much is that he’s a gay guy who refuses to goose step for them.
I’ve been trying to remember the name of this song all day. It starts with “Daaaaaaan, Dannnannn. Doof. Doof. Baaaaan.” Any help appreciated.
Googling that gave me this shit.
i was once in a band with a guy, and that’s how he’d write songs. He’d look at me and go, “IT GOES LIKE THIS= NA NA NA AN NANANA NA NANA BLAAAAAA BLAAAANG!!! DEEE DEED DOOO DOOD YADDA YADDA YANG”
I would then transcribe that into chord-form. Surprisingly, the process actually worked, more or less.
Ooh, ee, ooh ah ah

Off to bed, but I’ll leave you with this Jordan Peterson video I listened to today. It’s worth a listen if you have the time.
Jordan Peterson is literally fighting this war ALONE in academia.
The other voices are in media – like Ezra Levant and Mark Steyn. But where campuses are concerned, I don’t know of anyone hitting the pavement like him. At least in Canada.
Isn’t he being prosecuted by the human feels court of Canuckistan or something?
Ed at Reason had an interesting article about LePen sharing quite a bit of similarities with her left-wing opponent. But she’s considered ‘extreme right’.
I’ve come to the conclusion what we mean by ‘extreme right and left’ is WITHIN the boundaries of socialist ideology. For example, *they say* fascism and nazism are ‘far right’. But they’re not borne of conservatism or classical liberalism. They’re just off shoots or derivatives of socialism and Marxism and, if we accept this, it’s within this framework we apply ‘extreme right and left’. With this definition, Le Pen is right of socialism; not right on the conservative scale as perceived.
It’s true enough. They both come from the same non-liberal tradition. Of course, that all goes to hell when it’s people like, say, glibertarians being called far right. Which happens all the time. See the description of the ‘far right’ Freedom Caucus.
yeah, but the FC is, unless i’m mistaken, a blend of actual SoCons, Tea Party people, and the (2?) libertarian-leaners in congress.
meaning, its not terribly-far-off.
In the case of the Europeans, their excuse for labeling everything “Far-Right” seems to be because they all have “Center-Right” parties which are indistinguishable from the Left on their basic economic platforms.
basically “far” means “actual” in European politics.
which is unfortunate, because they ALSO have legitimately neo-nazi parties which would make Richard Spenser et al look like fucking Greens. and the Neo-Nazis get conflated with the “Actual-Right” (read: Conservative) parties by the Euro-media, which the US media helpfully echoes.
Massie refused to join the LC. More on general principle of not joining anything.
He wouldn’t join a club that would have him for a member.
It’s like anything in Europe. Someone with populist tendencies will immediately get painted as a far right fascist. Of course the best example is Geert Wilders – who’s probably left of 90% of the democrats stateside on everything but one or two key issues – but boy howdy…say something about muslims or unfettered immigration and suddenly you’re Hitler.
No sense of proportion or common sense at all.
Another version. NSFW.

I hope you’re all happy. I’d skipped the Weird Wednesday thread because, Unlike Some of You People, Some of Us Have to Work. But I kept seeing the “I’m Poppy” all over the links post, so last night I went back and read it. And watched the videos.
I now own her EP and one of her singles. “Money” is playing over and over in my head, nonstop. I blame you all.
Lowlife is better IMO, but they’re both catchy and I like tunes that belie the video visuals 🙂
It’s been a cycling rotation of which song has been stuck in my head. “Lowlife” was first, then “Altar,” now it’s “Money.” For being so creepy her music is surprisingly catchy.
That’s just pop music in general. Hence why I generally avoid it.
