Well here we are…the end of the week, finally. Hope its been all that you dreamed it would be. Let’s get started.
Looks like Barnum & Bailey might not be done after all. If the circus of a press conference yesterday is any indication, Bannon was right about needing to move the White House Press Pool out of the west wing…to a tent with three rings out on the South Lawn.
ISIS bombs Sufi shrine in Pakistan, killing scores. Pakistani forces arrest or kill 75 in raids immediately following the attack. Just curious, how come the cops and intel agencies always know the people involved and arrest them immediately after these things happen?
Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey will not comply with a congressional subpoena. She is being asked to answer questions about her fraud investigation (read: extortion scheme) into oil companies hiding data on global warming climate change but said the federal government has no jurisdiction over her. No word from New York AG Eric Schneiderman on whether he plans to comply.
Twenty three kids injured from potentially defective strollers have prompted Britax to recall 700,000 units across North America.
Kansas City Chiefs All-pro running back and former Special Olympian Jamaal Charles has set up a GoFundMe page to help the athletes participating in the winter games. Good on him for making better use of his offseason than Darrelle Revis allegedly has.
And now for our Freaky Friday segment.
Thanks for laboring along with us through the first week. We hope you’ve enjoyed your time here as much as we have. We will do our best to keep rocking and rolling, churning out material that you want to see, staying engaging with you guys to keep you involved, and being responsive too your needs as our readers and friends.
Have a great Friday and a better Saturday.
And now for our Freaky Friday segment.
I think I broke my ankles just watching.
Also, “Hello, all.” I was a longtime lurker at a site which shall not be named, but as I was mostly there for the commentary, here I am now. Party on.
Since this seems to be the time for all of us lurkers from over there to announce our presence over here, let me add my thanks to those who’ve made this place available, and the truly excellent content that has been put up so far.
I sincerely would like to point out how cool it is that some of the lurkers are showing up. Thanks y’all for coming out of the shadows at least briefly.
Another long time lurker here. Wanted to pile on the thanks for setting this up. Looking forward to getting roasted by far sharper wits than mine.
seems fishy ^^^
I was also a long-time lurker, and just recently began posting occasionally, at the site that shall not be named. I would like to echo TheOtherMike’s comments here. Excellent work, thus far!
It’s nice to get morning links before 9:00.
Nothing about Darrelle Revis? What’s in the water in Texas?
I need glasses.
I never read without my cheaters.
JC was a Special Olympian? He must have kicked ass. Or did he help with Special Olympians?
I’m a Longhorn and I find this comment offensive. Contrary to popular belief UT Football is not actually part of the Special Olympics.
Usually we field a team that would be eligible though.
Can we have MENSA Tom back, please?*
*Actually, I think we solved our offensive problems with the departure of Warinner and Beck (why Herman brought him to Texas is beyond me) and the arrival of Wilson and Day.
UGA great Herschel Walker would have probably been a Special Olympian as well.
According to this article, he competed at age 10 and won a gold medal.
And that gave him the confidence to pursue his athletic career.
Wait so a freakish athlete who can’t read gets to compete in the Special Olympics? How is that different than the regular Olympics?
I just picture him pulling a “Cartman” to unfairly compete in the Special Olympics so he could win some easy medals. I guess that makes me a bad person.
Well, there was the time that Spain cheated to win basketball gold at the Paralympic Games in 2000.
Run, Jamaal RUUUUUNNNN!
Oh, that hertz.
Out of 700,000? Sounds like people not properly engaging the locks and possibly damaging them in the process.
It was like the Audi deal a few years back. “Inadvertent pedal misapplication.” You’re not allowed to say, “Some people are too fucking dumb to be allowed to reproduce.”
Or the Toyota sudden acceleration fiasco.
Yeah, same deal with Toyota. Of course that didn’t stop the fedgov from extorting $millions from Toyota anyway.
And yet Teslas explode and kill people – government’s like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
VW doesn’t hurt anyone and gets pounded.
Nice to have friends in high places.
The VW thing is the biggest scam I’ve ever seen.
In other industries we just call that pilot error.
Thanks for a great first week.
I’ve been a regular lurker on Reason for an embarrassing number of years without commenting. Always wanted to but couldn’t keep up with the real time threading. I’ll try to change that here.
A quick shout to the rebellious commentariat who I guess are now the new site overlords… I pretty much stopped reading the articles long ago but could also always count on insightful, vile, and hilarious content from you guys. Thanks for that and I look forward to the success of the new endeavor.
“vile” Heh.
/unzips and exposes himself
Well?! Where’s the goddam candy?!!
Where’s the goddam money? I may be a molester, but I’m a Jew first!
It says “Free” right there in your sign. Unless that’s a political statement and Candy is being held in prison for something unjust.
That’s just to lure them in. Once they’re there… BOOM.
” Just curious, how come the cops and intel agencies always know the people involved and arrest them immediately after these things happen?”
I wouldn’t know, but one possibility is they’re “rounding up the usual suspects.” That is, anyone *except* the guilty parties.
I’m more inclined to think they know these people and half the time are in bed with them in entrapment stings which occasionally go awry.
Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey will not comply with a congressional subpoena.
I didn’t realize I could refuse to comply. That’s good to know. Congress should just vote to suspend all Federal Law Enforcement Funding until she is fired or complies.
” said the federal government has no jurisdiction over her. ” SOVEREIGN CITIZEN!!!!! Will a Fed sniper or an overdose on colloidal silver kill her first?
Send in the ATF Tactical Team!
Colloidal silver? Are the people of Massachusetts ready for a smurf AG?
Really, the congressional subpoena process is ripe for abuse. Read this and shiver.

She doesnt need to comply. All you need to know is that the AGW people are completely on the up and up, the science is settled and little Martha there has nothing to hide. Move along citizen.
WikiLeaks Releases Documents On Alleged CIA Spying On French Presidential Candidates
I said it yesterday, the spooks aren’t as smart or powerful as they think they are. Especially against Trump. You can only blackmail people with a sense of shame. They are going to score some points, but they aren’t going to win. If they could knock him out, they’d have done it already.
Kind of OT…
http://thehill.com/media/320058-cnns-zucker-trumps-attacks-badge-of-honor-for-employees
Zucker says moral is high with a dragon to slay. The whole of the established system is throwing everything they can. They’re fighting today’s war with the tactics of the last.
Interesting that they think a duly elected president with an “R” after his name constitutes a dragon to slay.
Whatever you think of Trump, he is clearly up to something that has the Beltway lifers scared to death. Which can only be a good thing for all us non-Beltway-lifers.
They may see him as a true outsider, incorruptible by their usual tactics. It’s entirely possible that they’ve got absolutely no dirt on him, and all the usual smears only seem to make his supporters like him even more. Probably most everyone in Congress has skeletons that they drag out of the closet to rattle at one another when they require compliance – a vote here, a good word there, an introduction to the big fish with deep pockets.
The whole system runs on graft, favors, and holding people over a barrel for shit in their past that would end their ambitions. If the guy in charge owes you nothing, is actually fueled by every attempt to destroy him with fictions, and you can’t find anything real to hit him with in a system like that, wouldn’t you be afraid of him too? It’s only a matter of time until they start turning on each other and bringing him everything he needs to get them under his thumb. So they need to end him, and end him fast by any means possible.
They’re obviously not afraid of bad politics. They perpetrate a lot of it themselves, it’s their bread and butter. It’s certainly not out of a concern for their constituents, because they wouldn’t have whipped up a lot of false fears in their base if they did care about the country’s political well-being.
Whatever the case may be, I think you’re right. There’s something very different going on here. As in anything political, the general rule is: follow the money. Nobody pays huge sums to smear campaigns and to establish an iron grip on all media unless the ruling class genuinely fears change.
Politics is the game of shame. This is because shame is the primary lever civil society uses to organize itself.
He who has no shame, is immune to the pressure of shame and may thus carry out his business as he sees fit.
I’m hoping that he just pulls CNN’s access to the press room and gives it to some other organ just as a demonstration of the the sway he actually holds over their ratings.
I am really not sure what to make of all this. Everyone spies on everyone all the time. Every country is fucking with every other country’s elections.
A pitifully weak excuse for deflecting the blame of losing the election away from Hillary (The Russians totally hacked the election and knocked Hillary’s ice-cream into the dirt) has become a completely fake scandal for the Trump Admin? It is laughable. Cummings and Pelosi waving their arms and holding up the supposed smoking gun of a fake Flynn tweet is symbolic of the whole affair. Smoking gun turns out to be a cap pistol. I especially liked Pelosi earnestly explaining to everyone what a scapegoat is (No Nancy, they dont run the goat out of town. They kill it. ) as if she were lecturing to a 3rd grade class.
The Russians hacked the election by revealing the Democrat’s emails and exposing how vile the Democrats are.
People learned the truth about Hillary. That isnt fair. It wasn’t supposed to happen.
It was her turn.
My sides…
Your avatar makes me laugh everytime I see it
Wow, David Plouffe so corrupt CHICAGO fines him for ethics violations. Lobbying for Uber, who are quickly following the Google model from “don’t be evil” to “try not to get caught being evil”.
St. Louis County cop says he was told to ‘tone down his gayness’
I think the world needs swishier police.
Its a power ‘stache!
Why doesn’t he transfer to the Fashion Police Department? Is it because he doesn’t wanna work for Gilmore?
“We didn’t tell him to tone down his gayness, we said he needs to stop hanging out with an Indian and a construction worker while on shift.”
And no more Lady Gaga playing in his squad car.
I cant believe the name ‘ Jim Dangle’ isnt in that article.
Florida Man Charged With Trying to Blow Up Target Stores to Tank Company’s Stock
Good for him for getting into white collar crime.
Someone’s been playing too much GTA V
1. Blow up Target Stores
2. ?????
3. Profit!
2 is actually “buy Target stock during a short-term non-fundamental dip in price, then sell when it returns to its market price”
He’s doing it wrong. GTA V taught me that you invest heavily in Wal-Mart THEN you blow up Target so it’s stock price tanks while the competitor’s skyrocket. Then you sell off the Wal-Mart stock and reinvest in Target to catch the rebound.
I guess he could always short Target, too.
You’ll also want to short their insurer and figure out whether you can start do a risk swap or set up a derivative class with other insureds on lone wolf terror to really max those gains.
…so, why not short the stock then blow up a Target? Doesn’t this man know anything about the stock market?
Call me crazy, but I’m guessing that a guy whose investment strategy involves blowing things up may not have a thorough understanding of how the market works.
On the other hand, it worked for Bane, right?
You need credit to short and make money.
He would have done it himself and saved the ten grand, but he’s on probation.
So ‘short on Target’ is a double entendre.
Went out to dinner in DC last night at a restaurant not on the list of businesses shuttering their doors to show solidarity with immigrants or some such. I get there and there’s a sign on the door and at the hostess table saying that due to the “Day Without Immigrants” the restaurant would be offering a limited menu. I got to the bar and asked the bartender what exactly that meant. He informed me they were not offering any specials that night, but the rest of their Mona Lisa sized was intact. That’ll show ’em!
How about having an “Illegal Immigration” day at the restaurant, where whoever manages to cut in line effectively will get a table while the people patiently waiting in line, or who have reservations, have to wait?
No, no, there can never be any differentiation between “legal” and “illegal” immigrants! The two must always be conflated to obscure the truth and make it seem that people are foolishly objecting to all immigration.

Did you let them know what they were doing was virtue signaling bullshit, Mr Thornhill?

Woolly mammoth on verge of resurrection, scientists reveal
Pleistocene Park doesn’t have the same ring to it. But as long as everyone involved dies after containment fails, then I guess I’m cool with it.
Maybe they can bring back other megafauna, like Diprotodons and giant ground sloths.
“The containment fence is down!!!”
“At least we don’t have to worry about the giant ground sloths escaping.”
The new raptor.
But I thought this was the new raptor
No, this is the new raptor.
Kind of pricey for a pickup truck.
I’ve driven one a few times that was fully modified for off-road racing. Even with the new frame, its too “twisty” for me when going unevenly over hills and rough terrain. At that price point, it’s like buying a pot bellied pig: glamour pet.
Yes, but they are pretty.
This is the new Raptor.
“The kids will be okay, unless, of course, the hell pigs figured out how to open doors.” *wry smile*
[Cut to close-up of cloven hoof turning a doorknob]
Pleistocene park…sounds like an awesome hunting club. If I could go back in time…
One has to wonder what the nature of all the species of Elephantidae were like. Maybe the grumpiest African today is just a pussycat. It would be interesting to see if they can do it but they might regret it.
My first link (which you can look up so I don’t trigger the moderating feature) is “Yale’s name change renews calls about Clemson’s Tillman Hall” from The State magazine in South Carolina.
Think about it – so many things which are named after Democrats keep getting controversies. Calhoun Hall at Yale, the Woodrow Wilson Center at Princeton…it would be safer to start naming places after Republicans and libertarians.
Next – I think I caught Ann Coulter committing an error.
Here she says: “Evidently, [Rep. Justin Amash] was suddenly struck by the realization that it’s “not lawful to ban immigrants on the basis of nationality,” despite having voted to ban refugees on the basis of nationality just 15 months earlier.”
I think this is the comment Coulter is referencing (from Amash’s Twitter feed):
“It’s not lawful to ban immigrants on basis of nationality. If the president wants to change immigration law, he must work with Congress.”
So…Amash said current immigration law doesn’t allow discrimination based on nationality, and the Pres will have to work with Congress to change that yet Amash *also* voted to change immigration law to discriminate based on nationality.
What total inconsistency!
Not sure if anyone had pointed this out (and I didn’t know this offhand, but saw it somewhere in the slew of news) – wasn’t Yale himself a slave trader? Also apparently, their largest original contributor was a guy named Dummer.
Yes, Elihu Yale didn’t just own slaves, he trafficked in them.
I think the law is pretty clear that the president can ban any class of aliens from entry into the US if in his judgement they are detrimental to the interests of the US. Period. Any class would include those of certain nationalities. Hell, it includes people with any particular hair color. Any class.
Looking for Coulter errors is like looking for fire ants in Louisiana.
There’s other ways to look at it.
This relates only to immigrant visas, anyway, not tourist, student etc. visas.
I suppose I get my back up with the suggestion that “if you don’t swallow the legality of every single paragraph of the EO you’re an open-borders hippie who wants to register all new immigrants with the Democratic Party!” I’m also annoyed at Andrew McCarthy’s emergency backup argument that if need be, the President can simply ignore immigration statutes he feels threaten the national security.
If Scott Adams is correct (and he’s been right about Trump when others were wrong), Trump is a negotiator who throws out a position, sees what sticks and what doesn’t, and modifies it accordingly. Apparently he’s doing this in the case of this very EO.
Why are there so many mattress stores across the Inland Northwest?
For the same reason restaurants and gas stations cluster.
A lot of college rape cases that require senior theses?
IT NOT STEVE SMITH’S WATCHFUL EYE THAT WRECK SO MANY MATTRESSES!
For the same reason that if I want a hammock, I’m not gonna go to some random store. I’m gonna visit the hammock district.
Or one of those all-night wicker places.
Euphemisms here, too?!
A Police Squad! reference? Awesome!
I’ve thought the existence of so many mattress stores was odd in the first place. Sleepy’s, the Mattress Professionals – are mattresses really so complicated that I need a professional advising me?
I had no idea I had a limbo fetish until this exact moment.

So all those skaters are either virtuous pagans or unbaptized infants?
I thought the Magisterium was kinda iffy on the whole Limbo thing these days. But admittedly I don’t keep fully abreast of the doings of you filthy papists.
Is this what you’re referring to?
Probably? That was longer than 140 characters though so my eyes glazed over and I can’t be sure

Yes John. It does make one wonder what other uses that strength and flexibility has. That she is hot as hell doesnt hurt.
AI-Powered Body Cams Give Cops The Power To Google Everything They See

So to a cop, the world will look like it does to a Terminator in the movies?
It doesn’t already?
I think their brains may already be overloaded. The idea that more information in their visual cortex is going to help them make better decisions seems to be without basis in fact.
“It seems like “yes, no, fuck you” is the answer to everything.”
What about “STOP RESISTING”?
“Hey Google: Go ahead and cut those last three minutes of video.”
Nice.
So, basically Google found someone to buy all the unsold Glass tech they had lying around?
I wish there was a Carl’s Jr in Brooklyn
“You probably recognize Kara Del Toro from her Carl’s Jr. commercial. The brunette bombshell joined a handful of other sexy models in the Tex Mex burger ad that could be considered Carl’s Jr.’s best ever.”
Damn
If Carl’s tried to make money just by showing pictures of food, they’d go bankrupt.
Yet simply showing pictures of sexually attractive women is enough to attract customers.
It worked on me!
Let’s do a real test to see if its true. Have Arby’s post pictures of scantily clad women and see if people start actually eating there.
In fact, Arby’s would be the perfect company for any double-blind test to see how advertising works since their benchmark is absolute zero.
+2 roast beef curtains
So Hope Solo as spokesperson?
Fuck. I had to fix a typo so you jumped in ahead of me.
You do know I could just memory-hole your comment, don’t you?
Ever see Sam Kinison’s routine about grilled cheese sandwiches and Dr. Ruth’s pussy?
Re: memory hole: use the power wisely, O Sloopy.
Ah yes. You’re referring to their aborted ad blitz with Chyna and Hope Solo, I take it? That was a bad plan all along.
That’s what you get for fixing typos. Edit button privilege is not without it’s pitfalls…
In fact, Arby’s would be the perfect company for any double-blind test to see how advertising works since their benchmark is absolute zero.
Arby’s – Because your hunger is stronger than your memory.
I’m sorry, I like the roast beef and cheese with horseradish mayo. If this makes me a monster, than so be it.
Same here. I don’t go to Arbys often because it’s really expensive for what you get (see also: Wendy’s)

In places like that everyone knows everyone and you cant pick your nose without everyone knowing about it before you are finished. If they were to go out and arrest everyone prone to criminal activity before they did shit like this the place would turn into an empty wilderness.
I feel like Trump today. Got my taxes back from accountant last night, looks like I am tax free for 2016-18.
I guess that is good out of bad.

Aw, how cute!
Hillary Clinton Spotted With SNL’s Kate McKinnon at New York Restaurant
Sketch comedy is so cool and so funny when performers are tight with the political figures they portray. No way this would result in the performers to go easy on them or anything.
ClintonWatch over the next four years is just going to be idiotic. At least Gore actually did something after he lost (even if I think it’s stupid) before he got attention again and Romney just faded away. If, by some miracle, the Democrats decide to try to run her half-rotted mummy in 2020 the party is dead.
Any year now the political right will unleash its own satirists, then watch out, SNL.
I am sure the major networks would be allllll over that!
Aaron Sorkin must be kicking himself for having developed “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” in 2006 instead of now. Back then, the notion of a sketch comedy show as a vehicle for social commentary and protest was (correctly) seen as laughably pretentious and self-important. If that show came out today it would likely be a huge hit among all the people who suddenly think SNL is watchable again.
Today in stupid things, here are the results of CSPAN’s poll of historians on “rankings of the greatest Presidents of all time”
FDR is 3rd.
Woodrow Wilson is 11th.
Obama is 12th, and ahead of Adams, Madison and Monroe.
So much idiocy there – John F. Kennedy was one of our greatest presidents? Really? Based on what – youthful vigor and taking nice pictures with his attractive wife?
Well let’s see, almost getting us into a shooting war with the Soviets, boinking 18 year olds while in office, addiction to amphetamines, what’s not to love?
Involvement in Vietnam was part of his program as well.
Personality cult bullshit. Coolidge is 26th, one place better than Nixon.
The other thing that’s funny is how they move some presidents up or down in the rankings. Did Andrew Jackson’s record change over the past 17 years? Were there any major new findings that would have had him drop? Of course not – he’s just not fashionable for Democrats anymore, so he gets dropped.
There’s two kinds of historians:
1. Historians who exist to cherry-pick sourcing and data to support their pre-determined conclusions/theories/ideologies.
2. Historians who are so damn cynical they’ve stop believing in anything and drink a lot.
Guess which ones CSPAN polls.
Have history grad degree. Can confirm. One of my favorite profs: “History is just a story with a fucking HI in front of it. People only know about the past due to the stories historians tell them. You are historians so tell whatever fucking story you want. Who is going to argue? All the witnesses are dead”
+1 History is just one damned thing after another.
Thucydides was either “The Father of History” or “The Father of Lies”…
Herodotus you philistine
Fine, you go ahead and believe Cicero…
That’s fucking bull. I never realized how bad Obama was until 2014. I am a massive idiot in both my public and private life.
Going out on a limb and guessing that libertarians aren’t the intended audience of this list.
Obvious follow-up for those who are better-read than I am: who would be the top 5 libertarian President’s?
Others have attempted to answer this very question
Interesting, though I have a hard time thinking of Reagan as the country’s most liberty-friendly President. He talked a good game, but his actual record is much more mixed than many of his supporters like to remember.
he’s 10th in that list. after about 7, things get murky.
Coolidge is #1 to me. Jackson might make the cut, he ended the central bank. Jefferson as the classical lib.
I picture Coolidge as fitting in here:
(from his Wikipedia entry)
he also had a raccoon he brought to the white house, named Rebecca.
He would be a very interesting person to talk with.
Is Coolidge the GOAT Libertarian president?

This is Monocle, a script I have been working on in my
spare timeprocrastination from the bar exam. It’s not ready for the big time yet, but it has a fix to the timestamp issue built in. I can’t rigorously test that part of the code, so I figured I’d make it available to some intrepid alpha testers, if you want the timestamps to be in your local time zone. Here are the preliminary features:
-Timestamps should be in your local time
-Comments are compacted together
-If an article has a sidebar, it is removed (full width comments)
-Unread comment count and scroll (click the button to go to the next unread comment)
-Hide the old threads (only threads with new comments appear on the screen).
Hell yeah. Doin’ the Lord’s work in some of the toughest commenting threads, trshmnstr.
Dammit, I can remove the sidebar. I just forgot to. Is that better?
Idk, I’m running my script, I can’t tell the difference.
I don’t mind leaving the sidebar there and letting people choose whether or not they want to see it with a script. It has useful info and links, but I always have the main page open in another tab, so it’s redundant for me.
It grinds a bit of CPU, but timestamps are looking good.
I made no attempts at efficiency, so anything short of a supercomputer may see a hiccup or two before everything renders. Ideally, I’d queue up all the required changes before iterating through the comments instead of iterating a bazillion times.
I’m really curious what’s going to happen with daylight savings time. Either everything is going to get really messed up (if the server doesn’t adjust), or it will magically sort itself out.
I suspect there’s going to be an hour’s difference if the server starts serving up time in CDT (-0500) next month. You have -0600 hardcoded as the server TZ.
Yep, sorry, had it flipped. If the server does adjust, it’ll be wrong.
(BTW, the script is pretty awesome — thank you!)
I really don’t want to do this (and I promise not to make it a habit), but…
Just. Wow.
In less than a week. Unbelievable.
I’m hoping that at some point the TDS and the anti-TDS and the anti-anti-TDS calm down and we all migrate back over there regularly.
But for now everyone’s insane and I’m glad to have this place.
It’s like crawling out of the bombed-out ruins of the home you’ve lived in for years, only to find the entire neighbourhood is full of naked cannibals.
That’s . . . oddly specific
Canada isn’t all what they tell you in the media.
I’m with you on that, but it’s also pretty cool to have a spot where we can make our own contributions to the wider libertarian discourse, too. If the other joint gets cleaned up, I’ll probably head back over, but still participate here. Lotta goodness goin’ on in this first week.
Eh, compared to Shikha’s idiocy and Robby’s feverish virtue-signaling, that wasn’t bad at all.
Seems like about 30% of the posts there are now the troll’s, which is a bigger problem.
Yeah Chip, I was specifically talking about the comments, not the article… when I posted it, there were about 30 comments. All of which were a compete shitshow.
Forgive me – I’m not particularly bright.
Interview between Jordan Peterson and Stefan Molyneux that I have been listening to.
If you listened to the Rogan podcast he did some time back he carries on with some of the themes about religion and ideology at the end. I think I’m going to make time to listen to at least one of his YT lecture series. I don’t have a lot of grounding in philosophy but I find him interesting.
I really liked the Rogan podcast as well. Heard it for the first time a few weeks ago when one of my buddies came down for a visit. Good stuff.
I love that Peterson always sounds like he’s stifling some inchoate rage. The topics he’s covering warrants the reaction.
I like a lot of what Stefan has to say, but he totally lost it when he demonstrated that he thinks that libertarians are SJW leftists.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZzeC06hVvA&t=1289s
He has lots of positions that I don’t agree with, and he went full on Trump during the election which makes me wince, but he’s a decent interviewer and Peterson’s good show with Rogan made me interested enough to click. I probably still have around 1/3 of the show to listen to but I think it’s been worthwhile.
He also pimps crap like r/K selection theory. Molyneux seems to know where his money is coming from, and tailoring himself to that audience. He was a hell of a lot more pro-libertarian five years ago.
Yeah, I liked some of his older work and philosophy podcasts but he’s drifted quite a bit from refusing to endorse politics at all into the Trump camp.
I’ve been checking out more of Peterson lately, I’ll probably sit down for his YT lectures as well. If you haven’t heard it yet, check out Bryan Callen’s podcast w/ Hunter Maats. They had Jordan on and they’ve done a bunch of other interesting cast. On the flip side, if you thought about listening to Jordan on Sam Harris’s podcast, just don’t. It was a complete waste of time. They never got into anything substantive because Sam refused to get past some inconsequential semantics.
Do you want some prime grade Thomas Friedman? Bet your ass you do!

This could all really change. I think this is all really throat-clearing right now. I have my seat belt tightly fastened.
And your diaper freshly changed, right, Tom?
Any suggestions for things to do in Bowling Green, KY? We’re staying a night on our way to our vacation destination. Stopping by the corvette museum, but nothing else on the agenda.
I was there about two years ago on an el-cheapo vacation. Wish I had research the area better because we ended up being pretty bored and moved on to visit friends a day earlier than planned.
I tried to go here but the water level was so high that they shut the tour down for the day.
The Montana Grille had some good steak / service.
I forgot the Train Museum. Tour through the vintage trains and mini museum was good. It’s pretty close to the Corvette museum (which I didn’t go to since ‘vettes aren’t my thing).
Watch out for massacres.
Isn’t that Rob C territory?
Hi Glibs, long time H&R lurker here, though I occasionally post (not under this handle). It got to the point where I couldn’t get through 3 paragraphs of an article before rolling my eyes at the equivocating, virtue signalling, and Trump Derangement Syndrome. Luckily the comments kept me interested, so I figured I’d come by and say hello. Also, I’m here for sugarfree’s erotic fanfiction.
Do you have electrolytes?
“that test was really easy.”
They’re what plants crave!
I’ve got what plants crave.
What’s up bitch?
Scratch your itch for pickup trucks and weaponry with this delightful gallery of photos of Mexican cartel members gearing up for a big power struggle. I particularly enjoyed seeing that the Gulf Cartel has branded their vests with their logo, just like the cops do!

The widely varying trigger discipline is interesting… especially the guy with his middle finger in the trigger guard
Honestly, I was surprised that even a couple of them displayed proper trigger discipline.
War against each other, again. I thought they already were waging eternal jihad.
All of them with fingers on triggers. Great.
Look like a bunch of young punk-ass punks that have no idea what they are getting into. The glamour and tough-guy act, the girls, the drugs…fun and games for now. When the shit hits the fan more than half of those guys are going to piss their pants and run like hell.
Man I’m so behind on the links. So did that dam erupt yet and flood all of Cali?
Speaking of war trucks Ford is re-releasing the Bronco and Ranger next year. The Ranger is the single greatest truck I have ever owned.
The new bronco does look good. I wonder if chevy will redo their k5.
at least the bronco looks like the old bronco. Not like the FJ40- fjcruiser fiasco.
It’s still gonna be choked with safety and other expensive, heavy doo-dads. How about something like this, instead?
Thats nice. if I had the cash, the ICON bronco or 4 door fj would happen. these guys are in state, and that looks cool too.
Chevy needs to redo their Colorado, and instead just make it the S10 again.
Any concepts on the Bronco body style yet? Wondering if they’re going to bring back the Bronco 2… which is an adorable death-trap that I would totally drive.
Not really the bronco 2. still looks good. But they probably ran into the same problem toyota did with the new FJ, cant take the roof off anymore. Jeep has managed to keep at it, somehow.
Well, it does look like a modern bronco… But I liked the old body style!
I wish they were bringing it back as an updated version of the old Ranger. It’s not a compact, though, it’s a midsize like the Colorado and the Tacoma, and it’s not going to be cheap like the old Ranger.
I’m not a good ol’ boy who goes mudding and I don’t tow anything. I just want an inexpensive truck with a decent-sized bed that I can use to haul things around in.
Yeah that’s my problem with it. I just need a work truck. I go fishing too so I’d prefer that over my Fiesta.
New, trucks are impossible to get cheap. I blame emission standards, but safety regs play a huge role as well.
If you find an older tacoma, make sure it had the new frame put in. They are starting to go for the new ones as well, my 05 was the second in the country to have a frame recall.
I know they sell new for around 40k. I found an 06 Ranger for about 4k but it had almost 330k miles on it. Bummer.
00-04 taco’s in my area are overpriced but very clean.
If you’re looking for a light work truck, the early 4runner might work for you. They can’t tow a bunch, but that little engine is unstoppable. put the top on and you have a nice suv.
Which year? I was looking at those. But I live in rural GA, so Ford and Chevy is king.
the 85-87 has the 22re, a 4 cyl with EFI. in 88-90 they went to a 3.0 v6. people in the toyota world like to mock this engine. Its not a bad one, it just seemed underpowered for how big it was. the 85 is the only year with a solid front axle. In 1990 they switched to the full suv body. The early 90’s look ugly to me, but thats personal. they can be found cheap with around 100k. with some care both engines will go over 300k.
The 85 is the most expensive, people really like them for off road.
Love the ’80s 4Runner! My favorite uncle had one when I was a kid, used to promise me that he’d give it to me someday. Of course, that never happened.
My dad had an 86. he sold it to our neighbor, who then got hit by the plow truck in it that winter. He regrets it to this day.
Thanks Doom.
No worries. I really like the 4runner roots. If you don’t think they are too old, and you find one with little body rust, you can have a really fantastic truck for house work.
So a 2005 would be older enough? I ask because my dad has a 2005 Tacoma, and I know he’s never had the frame replaced.
check on it. Depends on the salting of your road. the gen 2 (05-12?) are starting to go in the northeast. There was a massive recall for gen 1 back in the day, almost all got replaced. Toyota told me that in 2010 they switched the steel again.
Lurker from the other board here to report your lynx have more responses than the old joint. Nice.

I saved an unused plastic Domino’s Noid cup from the ’80s, anticipating its value to collectors of plastic novelty cups. It came with the pizza. I will let it go for $36 or a deep dish pizza from Lou Malnati’s.
