I was actually thinking about that today when I remembered that the technical East German name for the Berlin Wall was ‘the Anti-Fascist Protective Wall’.

Every time I ask for examples of the dreaded alt-right I hear one name; Spencer. One dude with a few hundred mentally/emotionally crippled guys does not a movement make.

I do find it disturbing that they are trying to associate free speech with fascism. All of the other strategies for attacking individual rights have failed so I guess they will try this one. It will fail also.
I’ve heard Spencer have discussions on various podcasts and the like and he’s fairly well spoken and is willing to sit down with those he disagrees with-Dave Smith, a New York Jew and a libertarian comedian, for example. I don’t agree with the guy but he’s much more tolerable to me than the left wing psychos who are beating people and burning shit down.

In my youth when I was involved in a church I went to an inter-denominational Bible retreat. One of the speakers warned everyone how dangerous it was to try and engage door to door Jehovah’s Witnesses and Mormons in debate, because they would use the devil’s forked tongue to trick you into compromising your faith and lure you to hell. Best to flee from them and never engage in a discussion that might make you question what you believe.
Later on during a discussion period with just our church group members I said basically “If your faith can’t withstand the scrutiny of a door to door Mormon missionary maybe it’s not worth preserving.” That sort of sentiment was tolerated in our church, and having had no experience with other churches, I had no idea how insular and insecure they were about it.
The left has gotten pretty much that same way.
