Its been raining for days and days. I’m ready for a little sun. This ain’t England.
- These geniuses from Tallahassee want “a white ethnostate”. Main color of their flag is black. Probably the guys googling “wbony porm” all day.
- Speaking of assholes in Tallahassee, it looks like Florida lawmakers are going to be dragged kicking-and-screaming into passing an MMJ statute that the citizenry voted for last year. Of course its going be a shitfest with only 10 grower licenses and such, but its nice to see them deigning to change the law to match the (state) constitution.
- In other Florida news, invasive crocodiles, like migrant humans threaten the less-aggressive local population. Wait, something about that analogy isn’t right…
- Two major terrorist attacks in Iran. It looks like the Iran-Saudi war of influence is getting hot. This is not going to be good if true.
- WaPo remembers when Progressives in Portland wore white hoods to cover their faces instead of black. Weirdly, this is somehow recast as right-wingerism.
- Australian columnist takes exception to assault. Good. I mean, not good that political violence is increasing, but good that attacking someone while wearing a mask gets a fight.
Rainy days and Tallahassee make me think of this. Here’s a little something from a friend of mine. (She is definitely NOT a white nationalist)
In other Florida news, invasive crocodiles, like migrant humans threaten the less-aggressive local population. Wait, something about that analogy isn’t right…
There’s got to be a hashtag to cover this situation, or a Facebook profile overlay.
Crocodilia – reptilian Order of Peace
Because what could be less aggressive than Florida Man?
#bringbackourcrocks?
Iran has let in too many Muslims. They’ll never assimilate into the larger culture.
Florida rain. Climate change.
Historically, Iran didn’t “let them in” in the first place. They came to be by the sword. As is the case with the vast majority of places that were converted to Islam.
Would you say that Iran inherited this problem from Persia?
I would say that for money, hypothetically.
Pshaw.
“Australian columnist takes exception to assault.”
The right to self-defense is a beautiful thing
Beating up proggie douches should be an olympic sport..
I’d watch that. It’s better than field and track. Come at me, Pre Fontaine
How about Zombie Prefontaine beating up proggies?
Damn. You should be on the Olympic committee. That’s a good idea

So I just found this ASMR stuff. I never knew this phenomenon had a name, though it’s been happening to me since childhood. I like this chick:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHkercPeue0
Wow! I know exactly what this is about. I have been haying this response my entire life. It is really random what triggers it though I get it a lot from guided meditation type talking. Thanks!
I like this one: 100% OF YOU WILL FALL ASLEEP TO CARD MAGIC ASMR
Though I am not sure his claims would pass peer review.
This one too, even though I can’t understand a word she’s saying.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ox_Vmp3Wr_A&t=474s
Happens to me too. It’s cringeworthy and ridiculous but I’m an insomniac and it helps me sleep better than sleeping pills. It feels a bit weird, him being a guy and all, but check out Bob Ross.
I like this one, especially her Korean videos. My inability to understand the language is important for relaxation, and I find Korean to be particularly soothing. There are thousands of these people though, from all over the place, so no shortage of options.
I also like the long rain/thunderstorm videos for background noise when I’m reading.
My mother in law is Korean and her normal tone is loud and agitated. Not soothing at all.
Rule 34 dictates that somewhere, there’s some ASMR that sounds just like Hillary Clinton on the campaign trail.
Check this one out-Polish and does a fine job.
https://www.youtube.com/user/SoftAnnaPL
Thanks, sounds good. I try not to go too deep into the rabbit-hole of finding the best ASMR videos. When I first got into it a few months ago, I was surprised by how many people there are making these videos, and there seems to be a common generic format for it so a lot of them have the same type of stuff.
https://medium.com/insurge-intelligence/isis-recruiter-who-radicalised-london-bridge-attackers-was-protected-by-mi5-232998ab6421
ISIS British attacker was being protected by MI5. He was part of those ‘moderate’ groups in Syria fighting the good fight against Assad. Say, why don’t the governments of these Western countries seem too focused on defeating ISIS? Proxy war
It’s been said for some time that Anjem Choudary’s group had some kind of ‘official protection’, because they’ve been a very visible and very unhelpful media presence for some time, and avoided numerous complaints filed against them.
Looks like we just got confirmation of some of the details. Maybe there’s a high-rise rooftop somewhere with a welcoming diving-board affixed.
I believe the official word for collaborating with a foreign regime committing acts of war against your people on a weekly basis, particularly on the basis of waging war against a regime that isn’t doing so, is “treason”.
No idea what you do when the state is run by traitors from the top on down. Well, I know what you ought to do, but the execution is a little difficult.
Therein lies the problem. Most nations have deftly side-stepped the issue by not defining ISIS as a nation state. Hence, it’s not a foreign regime. Hence, not really treason.
Same went for the IRA, of course. In the earlier years of the Anglo-Irish difficulties, it would have been relatively easy to have demonstrated the connection between the Irish Government and the active IRA ‘freedom fighters’, but the connection was never cited, for sensible (if not good) reasons.
In a world full of disgusting Islamist cunts, Anjem Choudary is a grade A blue waffle. Dude is a psycho and leftists just shower his shit-spitting hate speech with admiration and wonder.
Funny, but they’d literally be the first ones lined up against the wall and shot if that nitjob got his druthers.

These geniuses from Tallahassee want “a white ethnostate”.
They should start off with something simple, like a FSU Graduation or something
So, like Madison, Wisconsin then?
Having studied or taught at both Florida State and the University of Oklahoma, I was shocked to say that OU was actually more diverse.
WTXL is taking a closer look at “the Republic of Florida,” which hails itself as a “white nationalist group” that encourages militia training.
Attempting to create a nation entirely made up of Florida Men?
It would be like an American Bulgaria.
Bulgaria at least makes decent guns. Florida so far consists of Taurus, Kel Tec, and I.O. It’s like the firearms trifecta from hell.

Ordinarily I go with college girl, but that model everyday and twice on Sunday.
Model. Dat ass puts the college girl’s to shame.
^This.
World Class Ass.
The correct answer is model this time- by a mile.
Threesome
Not even close.
Before we bury the poor girl, her tits appear to be all natural, with the model’s still in question. And I bet she’s very smart and has a wonderful personality.
Also, tits

Why can’t it be both?
I’m not a young man anymore, though, so i would probably do them consecutively instead of concurrently.
The young bull says: “I’m gonna run down there and fuck some of them cows!”
The old bull says: “I’m gonna WALK down there and fuck all of them cows.”
Both, but gun to head the second one.
Why not both?
Speaking of assholes in Tallahassee, it looks like Florida lawmakers are going to be dragged kicking-and-screaming into passing an MMJ statute that the citizenry voted for last year.
I’m not surprised the people of Florida want mixed martial jorts.
**standing ovation**
Wow. From cat-butt to cat’s meow in a day.
Well done.
OT, but there is a really good game sale going on at GOG right now. I just paid $26 for GC3 and now it’s on GOG for $10. Oh well, I see a couple of other titles there I might grab on the cheap.
Huh. I just reloaded GC2 on my computer.
I haven’t played any of the GC series. In fact, I’m new at 4X space games. I just recently started getting into them with Stellaris and Endless Space 2. Also, not a 4X game really, more of an RPG, but Starpoint Gemini Warlords is good in a really weird oddball sort of way. Not sure how to describe it. It’s like Elite Dangerous with really weird clunky, but fun, combat meets Stellaris with about 10% of the complexity.
I’ve been playing the Gwent open beta (I was in on the closed beta) – it’s free(mium). The “Witcher” Series is pretty awesome – especially Witcher 3.
This. Witcher 3 is a hugely underrated game. Loved every minute of it!
I wish I would have played them in order – I played 3 first, then 2. Haven’t regressed to 1 yet. The mythology is fantastic; what’s interesting is that the (same actors) voice acting is much, much better in 3 than 2.
NEEDED: Generic Father for Backyard BBQ
Sad.
If they weren’t such abject failures and disappointments in the eyes of their families, that ad wouldn’thave been necessary.
Christ I hate my generation.
Funnier still is that even for me, a limey, “BBQ” is not “burgers and dogs”.
Those kids need to acquire some “bottom”. Ribs. Lethally hot wings. Badass brisket. Bison chilli! Beans with ham! Collards!
They need to acquire some balls first. If they can’t manage to cook hot dogs, which only need to be warmed up, if they tried cooking something that wasn’t preprocessed they’d most likely all die from E. Coli or Salmonella.
Wait, you might be on to something there…
I might be interested in that job.
Can I, after a few beers, question Johnny’s choices in life and make him cry in front of his friends?
Make it a real Family BBQ experience.
Well done, that man!
In fairness, it’s possible they don’t have dads to disappoint, considering the high rate of single parenthood these days.
As a single parent, I reject that excuse.
Best part:
It sounds like fun. Random dad for a dad. What’s it pay?
All the PBR and virtue-signalling your stomach can bear.
Pass. Side note: so far I have enjoyed every New Belgium product I have tried.
Trappist Monk, killer
Second that. Espcially Fat Tire.
New Belchin – meh.

“All the PBR …”
This makes me uncomfortable.
Sorry you feel ‘othered’.
I’d always assumed you were wearing your nickname ironically.
I’d always assumed his handle stood for Patrol Boat River
I’m available, snowflakes. You better have plenty of beer to bring to Generic Father Shitlord on demand. Also, won’t be calling you ‘Big Guy’ or’ Sport’. ‘Punk’, ‘fuckwit’, and ‘shit for brains’ will have to do. Also will be telling you to get off your own lawn, unless you’re cute and willing to show them titties.
Dad, is that you?
Dude, that was your “daughter for the day” you were talking to. Not cool.
Not until the 17th
Hey, the ‘DAD’ thing is their fantasy, not mine.
Also, they better not fret, or I’ll leave and call Steve Smith over to be Daddy BBQ.
STEVERANDY SMITH THINK THIS SOUND LIKE FUN!I would do this in a heartbeat. I usually end up cooking anyway. These kinds of events are an awesome opportunity for proselytizing liberty to the younger generation.
EM: “So, enterprising youngsters, have you ever read Rothbard’s—-”
Pathetic party bros: “Dude, Fake Dad guy, do you even lift bro? Smell this fart!” *makes buttercup motion, chestbumps dude-friend
This is what I imagine talking to someone too young to have a job about libertarian ideals anyway.
Maybe I’m wrong. Do you ever have any success in these ventures?
And by “to young”, I mean somebody who lives by the Millenial guideline that adulthood starts at 30 and up…
My 23 year old and 19 year old libertarian sons claim that the reason most of their friends (and, lately apparently, their friends’ parents) vote and promote libertarian is because of me. I don’t think they give themselves enough credit in this, but I have noticed that young people (people in general, really) really appreciate someone who speaks to them as an equal, and although it can be difficult in certain cases, without belittling their beliefs (or lack thereof)
I’d do that. Mostly.
No way I’m bringing my own grill though.
And the first anecdote you get is the difference between grilling and BBQing. I might even bring some sausage or some Tri-Tip or something to add to the food. Only for the grown ups (those are the people that nod acceptingly while I’m in the middle of the grilling/BBQ’ing explanation).
And instead of “Big Guy” or “Champ” I think you are more likely to be called “Whatshisface” or “Turd Wrangler”. But If I like you, I may attempt and coining a slightly positive form of address.
After 7 or 8 beers though, I’ll definitively talk about the Federal Reserve System if I think I’m around a bunch of people how haven’t heard that Rant before. Hope that counts as a Dad Thing.
And If I’m outside grilling, I will insist on Miller High Life as my shitty beer. And it has to be in the bottle.
I will insist on Miller High Life as my shitty beer.
Why do you hate yourself so?
And If I’m outside grilling, I will insist on Miller High Life as my shitty beer. And it has to be in the bottle.
Right on. Keep it classy. I would do that too, but, I would add, any decent BBQ starts at 8AM when the first beer is cracked as the brisket is rubbed down. Hot dogs and hamburgers are for the kids with the bubble blowing bottles. Maybe even bring a few chickens to have the guests kill and clean so we can get close to our food. Stump to table so to speak. Sharp axe of course.
Say what you will about these crocodiles, at least they’re surviving in an alien environment without the local population being forced to bend over backwards to accommodate them as they crowd out those same locals.
Careful, they might be Nile Crocodiles
I think they’re salt water crocs. Bull Skark vs Salty is a fight I want to watch.
Grizzly versus Bull
Romans already thought of that one!
Ian Ziering is looking for a role in some B-list movie…
TFA sez they are Nile Crocs, so invasive and acclimated to fresh/brackish water.
Fun Fact: Florida, in addition to their famous freshwater alligators, also has the saltwater-living native American crocodile (Crocodylus acutus) which is also found further south.
Florida: America’s Australia.
If I recall correctly, Clock Spider lives in Florida. So yeah.
also they’re big enough to eat the pythons. It’s always better when the immigrants fight each other
Um…some crocs are very ‘friendly‘
http://www.vulture.com/2017/06/norm-macdonald-special-donald-trump-snl.html
Norm MacDonald remains the only reason why Americans don’t just wipe Canada off the map.
Keep this up and we’ll just ramp up our pop culture psyops. You’ll get a Justin Bieber every month, don’t make us do it!
I’ll be good
That’s not how mutually assured destruction works, Titor.
There’s really only one appropriate response to a Canadian stockpile of weaponized Biebers.
Pantera?
Shut up, Titor, or we’ll exile Hillary to Canada. And Obama too!
The Canadian air force will now begin carpet bombing Hyperion’s house with Celine Dions and Zoolanders.
After Zoolander grants Hillary special privilege citizenship, she’ll be your next Prime Minister and Obama will be in Parliament going on 24/7 with his proggie non-sense. Neither one of them will leave or shut up, ever.
You severely underestimate Canadian dislike for Americans if you think we’d just install Americans into high ranking political office.
Obama could get elected here, Clinton couldn’t. She wouldn’t be able to win a party leadership race (ours aren’t rigged like the DNC, and she wouldn’t have the political capital to rig them because the party Old Guards would go to town on her).
I threw up a little. I always knew you Canucks were sick
OK, so you get Obama as PM and he makes Hillary SOS and you guys invade France by mistake. Damnit, that looked like Syria! Sounds like fun to me.
Two most interesting takes from that interview:
Interesting list. I don’t watch/listen to too much comedy, so are Chappelle and Seinfeld still good? I’ve heard good stuff from all four of those guys, but I can’t recall anything recent from those two.
There might be something to that…
Chapelle’s newest special was the shit. He’s still got it. Louis CK is hard to argue with as the top of the feild right now. I like some of the new kids, too. Bo Burnham is pretty unique.
*field
I’ll have to check that out then.
Chappelle’s got 2 new specials on netflix right now – both are pretty good.
Saw a couple Daniel Tosh specials a few years back, but nothing recently – he’s fun, but very dirty.
I think Chapelle’s still good, maybe not as good as he was. I haven’t heard Seinfeld recently. Louis C.K. is funny as hell. So is Kevin Hart, actually, but I think he’s got a little bit of the Eddie Murphy thing going on, although I do think his writing is pretty good.
To the latter quote, I think he’s absolutely right. Further on he says:
Nobody likes a scold, and nobody likes a whiner. Nobody likes a loser. The left is all those things. They’re middle-class college students having tantrums because they can’t get people to pronounce “xe” right. They’re Pajama Boy being smug with cocoa and Rachel Maddow snarking at the camera.
Lear also made a grave error in his intent in hiring Carroll O’Connor to play Bunker.

my favorite norm tweet.
I have a theory. Can it be the rise in the price of bacon is connected to Muslims and other Muslim (and propane) accessories?
It’s being driven by the ethanol fuel industry. Feed corn is getting more expensive because so much is used for ethanol. Also lots of land is being dedicated to corn that formerly grew soybeans and a few other things. Hamburber $6/lb – blame E15.
Soooo….Muslims?
I don’t see why not. Everything tends to go to shit in their presence pretty much everywhere. So I don’t think you’re off base, even if you’re lacking a causal connection for the moment.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!
If anything, more Muslims should decrease the price of bacon, at least in the short term, as there would be a drop in demand. Less bacon for Muslims and Jews, more bacon for me.
Are you talking about real bacon, or that shit you call bacon up north?
I think of this song. (Sorry, death metal fans.)
Not death metal, but still one of my favorite songs.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eM2C-aL_s0
Not quite death metal, but an appropriate response to your song.
*sigh*….https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upve-ckNxiE
Ok, I can understand how say, zebra mussels or jellyfish get carried into foreign environments, but how in the fuck did a stable breeding population of Nile crocodiles end up in Florida? Did some conservationists fail basic alligator/crocodile identification?
Nouveau-riche rappers wanting something badass for a party or to make a video.
What do you do with the props when you’re done? Flush ’em. I doubt you need more than a few crocs and a few generations of breeding to get a fair sized population.
I’m assuming that this, like every other problem in America’s Wang, can be traced back to a series of amusingly bad decisions by Florida Man, and meth.
ignorance that the Nile crocodile you bought off the back of someone’s truck isnt’ the same thing as a Florida alligator so what’s the harm of flushing it? It’s like the morons who buy piglets thinking they’re mini-pigs and then realize, whoops, even those get big.
Did you read the other link attached to that story? Apparently there is now a semi stable population of capybaras in northern Florida. How the fuck did they get mastiff sized guinea pigs to Florida?
Very hungry Ecuadorian landscapers.
Don’t forget the New Guinea Flatworms!
I think the crocodile problem will take care of the capybara problem. I did find it amusing how many related stories were linked to that one: there were like a half-dozen other stories of new invasive species in Florida. Its like Florida is the NYC of the animal kingdom: everybody’s trying to get there, and they all hate each other.
That’s on my list of “meats I want to try but haven’t got around to it yet”.
I went to take the dogs out to do their business when I got home, and there was a black snake all coiled up (but not hissing) right at the corner of the sun-room by the back door. Sure enough, the dog noticed it and wanted to attack….
So…you let the dogs out?
Only just realized that Baha Boys were singing about ugly women here and not canines!
It all makes sense now.
…ooohhhhh…
So our emissions are down and the EU’s are up? Why are they pissing and moaning?
Insufficient graft.
Because FYTW?
Would you not be pissed if you were planning to stick the US tax payer with 95% of this bill, and are now suddenly finding out that if you really want to keep the veneer of legitimacy to your scam your own tax payers will need to foot that bill?
Because if we take away Europe’s virtue signaling, the world might notice that Europe is not managing to reduce carbon emissions at all.
Wouldn’t they actually have to be doing something – and by something I mean actually put into practice technology and not just crap on paper – to make it so for it to be so?
“Why are they pissing and moaning?”
They’re Europeans. All the good ones already moved to the US (and to a lesser extent, Canada and Oz) or got killed in one of their wars.
Sadly. This.
If we can convince some progs to take up on Macron’s offer, this will be doubly so!
Yeah, but they won’t. See all the celebs who swore they’d move to Canada if Trump. Well, Trump, and they’re still afflicting us.
A taxpayer-funded bill offering to fund the move for those celebs to countries abroad would be A1 political trolling. Suprised that the Orange Sauron hasn’t already thought of this…something something 4-D chess
In case you didn’t feel the Middle East was complicated enough at present:
Iraqi Kurds plan independence referendum on Sept. 25
Woot! AFAICT, the Kurds are the only people I like in that whole partathaworld.
Yeah, this is going to worry the Iranians and the Turks whom all fear an independent Kurd nation more than their other traditional enemies…
Maybe we will finally get the second democracy in the region that Iraq was supposed to be.
Yeah, having an independent Turkish state now would really serve to show that the problem in the middle east are self inflicted. These morons can wave off Israeli success, but another non-Arab state that ends up successful – and with the oil in Iraqi Kurdistan, I see no reason this wouldn’t be the case – would really only serve to highlight Arab dysfunction.
I’m slightly suspicious over the hype around the Kurds, who historically were effectively desert pirates. Military expert and possible mad man Tom Kratman isn’t positive towards them either.
I’m not really a fan of Ohioans, but I much prefer them to Syrians.
Kratman doesn’t really make a strong case that the Kurds aren’t substantially better than what exists around them.
I think “starve their children, constantly fuck over their allies, and murder their own local minority groups” are pretty fair counterpoints to the masturbatory analysis people regularly give the Kurds. If you’re looking for candidates for a ‘functional democracy’ in the Middle East I don’t see them as much better than Arabs.
Except they have essentially established a functioning democracy in the Middle East. It’s not Western by any means, but again, we’re talking about the Middle East.
It’s fair to counter images of the Kurds as messiahs of the Middle East. I just don’t think that article is as strong as the author thinks it is.
If the KRG is a ‘functioning democracy’ then so is Iran and Pakistan. Their system is plagued by all the same problems of the region.
Better? Probably not. Better for American purposes? Almost certainly.
Yeah, there’s certainly a realpolitik argument here of “let them have their own country so we can ally, build airfields there, and basically have them diplomatically by the balls”, especially with the way things in Turkey are going. But this idea that an independent Kurdistan wouldn’t as dysfunctional as every other Middle Eastern shithole is based on wishful thinking.
In my limited experience, they aren’t as medieval towards women as the Arabs, nor as Jew-hatey. But you’re right, they aren’t exactly a basket of peaches either.
Gee, a bunch of commies aren’t trustworthy or reliable? The hell you say!
The faster we extract ourselves from that shithole of the world, the better.
The Arabs in general, do not want Western democracy. It’s totally alien to them. It’s astounding that the West has not learned that after 60 years of trying to force it upon them.
Western democracy has already done quite a number on the west.
Thucydides and Plutarch had it right! Radical democracy = self-imposed societal decline
Hans Hoppe has a rather sensible view about democracy as well.
I think I ought to try referring to what we live under nowadays as “radical democracy”. Most people would agree that democracy would be an illegitimate means of deciding which individual lives and which dies but that’s pretty much limit of what western political culture forbids of their ballot box. So not only is there a nearly all-powerful ‘demos’, but suffrage is universal and this has been a complete disaster.
The Kurds are currently allies-of-convenience to the US.
While the Turks are not reliable allies, they are in this case, correct. The PPK is most assuredly a communist political bloc that are quite happy to resort to banditry and ‘kinetic action’ against neighbors.
Since the fall of the USSR the PPK has all but gone the way of the Dodo, hasn’t it?
Whoops. PKK. You can rely on a PPK. Even if it’s only in .380.
Nah, the PKK is still pretty active, and influential in regional politics. It’s not as though an independent Kurdistan is going to be a threat to the West, but if the West helps or supports its establishment, it’s going to make things even more complicated.
Far easier to make encouraging sounds about self-determination, the will of the people etc, while actually allowing the Turkish and Iraqi government strangle the movement. Realpolitik in action.
In my experience, the PKK (I knew what you meant) are but a minority party hiding in the mountains and blowing up occasional stuff. They get shot at more than they do the shooting. The PUK, and the PDK rule the two pretty much separate parts of territorial Kurdistan. At least that was how it was when I worked there. As others pointed out above, Kurdistan has it’s problems, but they are far more inclined to being a western type democracy than any of their neighbors from what I have seen. Hell, Erdigan is going full fledged kill my political enemy’s now. Baghdad is, well Baghdad and full of what they are and love them some Iranian now. Ask a Kurd what they think of Iran.
The marsh Arabs were OK but I think they’re all dead now.
There are still some Mountain Jews; how about them?
They have been our most consistent allies but I don’t see this ending well if they vote for independence. They would be immediately attacked on three sides by the Iranians, Iraqis, and Turks. The Israelis were fighting the Arabs. The Turks and to some extent the Iranians can field better armies.
Also, the minorities within Kurdish lands hate them just as much as the Arabs do (and have legitimate reasons why). So insurgency is also an immediate possibility.
Insurgencies are hardly an insurmountable problem if you’re okay with genocide. I’m not sure where the Kurds stand on that issue, but they’re probably as amenable to the idea as any other people in the region.
A hundred years of Turkish and Arabic hatred for the Kurds haven’t killed them off yet, and it’s a pretty easy casus belli for Turkey or a recovered Syria to go “oh, the Kurds are trying to genocide the Assyrians, we need to invade to protect these poor people” and then proceed to murder as many Kurds as they can. If Kurdistan is allied with and guaranteed by the U.S. it’s different, but that’s also another Middle Eastern entanglement.
I don’t think the Turks have the (a)moral wherewithal to entirely wipe out the Kurds. They did a helluva job on the Armenians within their borders but they’ve kind of spent their “genocide capital” if you will. I just don’t see them being able to pull it off quite like their forbearers, even if the will to do so exists.
John, where are you getting the minorities in Kurdistan hate the Kurds? I worked there for years alongside muslim, christian, yaziddi and agnostic kurds. The dudes I know didn’t give a two shits what someone was other than they were kurdish. Granted they were not big fans of Israel, but other than that it was all kurdish tribalism and they hated the Arabs as much as they hated Israel.
General discussions with vets who were there, some other accounts like Kratman’s, etc. I’m talking about non-Kurds, Assyrians and what-not.
If they were in the Kurdish region regardless of religion, they were Kurds from what I saw. I visited an ancient monastery just east of Mosul on a mountain side that the Kurds had been protecting for years. If they are killing them outside of Kurdistan, I would say they see them as Arabs as much as Assyrians. Not that they should be killing them, but there is probably not much of a distinction in their eyes, and the Arabs have been murdering them forever. They are payback is a bitch sort of people.
I met some hardcore Islamic followers who would hold those beliefs that where Kurds. Most spoke very good English with a British accent who grew up in the UK after their parents fled Kurdistan under Saddam. The stereotypical story was they got themselves hucked out of the UK and deported back to Iraq for petty crimes like teenage theft and other shenanigans. They were educated but embraced the Koran and religion to feed their anger for being fucked over. It was kind of weird actually. Many were very devout. They were by far the minority with the guys I worked with day after day though. The rest could not care less what you believed. They just wanted to know if they could trust you. Kind of like most of us.
And to your Kratman link:
Welcome to the third world. It is the same on every continent I have had the good fortune to visit.
51st state!!!
I think the Puerto Ricans have first dibs on that.
How are they going to convince the eds to bail their fubar economy out otherwise?
Woot! AFAICT, the Kurds are the only people I like in that whole partathaworld.
So you’re an anti-Semite?
Looks like the dnc operatives with bylines at CNN now are arguing that the crazy militant prog NSA contractor that got caught leaking secret info is a GOP plant to make the left look bad.
I have prog friends who swear the Dan Rather fake documents and firing were some sort of Karl Rove reverse psychology mind control sting thing.
“How do these retards keep beating us?!”
Its got to be tough on them when their worldview is that all wrongthinkful people are morons and mentally defective.
The GOP got inside the retard OODA loop.
They are idiots aren’t they?
“How do these retards keep beating us?!”
It’s not that hard when you’re even more retarded.
I read some self-described “geolibertarian socialist” whine about how Dan Rather was “swiftboated” a while back.
Inasmuch as ‘swiftboated’ describes the revelation of a despicable lie told by the ‘victim’ – usually in an attempt to burnish his image, that was revealed to the public discrediting the ‘victim’s statements, then maybe yeah, Rather was swiftboated.
But I doubt that’s what your geolibertarian socialist (would that be a Georgist?) meant.
As far as I can tell people going under that banner want a kinder, gentler welfare/police state but with legal weed, brah, and borders are icky so let’s do everything internationally, and this wouldn’t turn into an even worse institutionalized civil war of pressure groups fighting for special legislative favors than we already have, etc.
So, Velveteen jackboots worn by UN Peacekeepers recruited from a Benetton commercial. Do they get to run the orbital “Peace Ships” with all the warheads too?
Sounds delish. Let’s start!
Suede-denim secret police.
Oh, no! My uncool niece!
What the hell is a geolibertarian socialist?
A polite way of saying ‘retard’.
Indeed. See my comment above.
You sir, won the internets today.
Georgists, I think they’re called in some circles. They basically think that all land is the collective property of the world’s population and to use that land, you need to pay rent to some sort of centralized entity with ultimate decision making authority, BUT IT’S TOTALLY NOT A GOVERNMENT OKAY?!?
So the Stupid Party is somehow diabolically cunning enough to pull something like that off? Go on, pull the other one.
Oh, wait, that was written by ENB’s dim-witted buddy Jill Filipovic. CNN is poaching political reporters from Cosmo now, huh? Sounds about right.
The best thing for The Stupid Party is that The Evil Party has tripled the stupid in just half a year.
I remember some moron telling me during an argument that Bush was both an evil genius behind faking 9/11, and a dumbass C- student. When I pointed out the conflict in logic, I first got told that you could still be an evil genius and a retarded monkey (because you obviously didn’t suck up the propaganda that passes for enlightened education with the people that determine the value of your education, she told me), and then when that failed to produce anything but a deeper hold for her to climb out, she told me that Bush was a puppet manipulated by Cheney.
Man, was she pissed when I told her I suspected Bush was just as incompetent as the other lot of ivy league big government guys she worshiped, especially with all his talk about compassionate conservatism bull, and neither an evil genius nor as dumb as the left hoped people believed he was simply because he idn’t admit to being a big nanny stater. Calling the morons on her side of the isle dumb and pointing out that there was not that much of a difference, other than the usual spouting of the lefty talking points vs. the lefty talking points lite, especially when it came to individual rights and freedoms, almost caused her an aneurysm.
I always enjoyed when it came out that Gore’s grades and SAT scores were roughly the same as Bush’s.
Obama’s grades and test scores, on the other hand, were deposited in Fort Knox, never to emerge again. Which makes sense when you consider how reticent he is about bragging and self-promotion.
Wait, I was wrong – he’s an enormous narcissist who is convinced he’s a Wile E. Coyote level Super Genius. Curious, then, that his grades never came to light! Why, it’s almost as if he were embarrassed by them for some reason.
I was always expecting something about Obama’s academic history to eventually drop but Fort Knox seems to be about right. That’s one of those things where I wonder if in a few decades down the line somebody will eventually blab–which is the same thing I’ve been thinking about all the stories based on “anonymous sources” which are frequently totally false that are all the rage at the moment.
Someone a while back, forget who, said that Obama only graduated Columbia cum laude, which meant below a 4.0. Which, given the grade inflation at the Ivies, is usually true of more than half of the class. So better than a C student, but not particularly noteworthy for the school given the circumstances.
He did graduate Harvard Law magna cum laude but, since they installed him as the editor of the law review despite his never publishing anything, I suspect his professors were mighty invested in nudging him along.
Oh, I always pointed out that the only reason for needing to hide Obama’s college transcripts were that they either would serve to validate the birthers’ claim he made some claim to gain special financial or other advantage, or that they were so piss poor low, that they would prove once and for all that he was only smart to morons that put him on an intellectual pedestal.
Neither choice was well received. Just like pointing out that if Bush’s grades proved he was stupid, then Gore failing out of seminary school and having similar grades, made him – and by extension the people claiming Gore was smart and a better candidate – giant idiots too. These exchanges usually ended up causing someone’s head to explode. Double standards or something…
Then again, Gore went on to take advantage of the stupidity of the people that believe intelligence is belied by spouting and promoting idiotic marxist ideas and ideology, and made himself big bucks, so maybe he is not that stupid. that or he truly is an evil genius.
Having read Obama’s writing from his time at Harvard, I can say that poor grades very well could justify him keeping them secret. His oratory and supposed intelligence were key components of his cult of personality along with his kind of black skin.
Reading Obama’s writing from that time left me with no doubt that the Ivy League’s reputation is entirely bullshit. It’s just another set of credential mills. This was a guy who graduated from Columbia and got into Harvard Law, but whose writing was littered with basic grammatical errors.
Yeah, I still have strong memories of people going on about how he was the greatest orator of our age, or even of all time. Heh, it’s fun to contrast “Lightworker”-era perceptions and pieces about Obama with the current resident of the Oval Office.
Kerry’s were worse, and they went to the same school.
I don’t think many leftist tried too hard to paint Lurch as intelligent. I do remember them trying hard to make him heroic and to appeal to patriotism, but not so much intelligence. Sure he spoke french, but the idiot put swiss cheese on his Philly cheese steak sammich, dang you…
Really? Bush’s stupidity compared to the intellectual Kerry was one of the key storylines I recall from that time period. You couldn’t listen to a leftie talk without hearing it. Even his “flip flops” were defended as thoughtful reevaluations. Responsible adults, unlike Bush who always doubled down and refused to apologize for being a Republican, Kerry would change his mind.
Oh yeah. I haven’t heard a flip-flop joke in a while. Thanks, Trump.
Bless their moronically partisan little hearts.
The analysis did seem to state directly Russia’s government was responsible. It did not seem to have any proof of said assertion, at least not in what The Intercept provided.
They really need no help looking bad.
The lack of any mirrors to look in has prevented them from grasping this…
“Two major terrorist attacks in Iran. It looks like the Iran-Saudi war of influence is getting hot. This is not going to be good if true.”
I won’t condone terrorism in any way, but there is something poetic about Iran, which is a state sponsor of terror by way of Hezbollah, et. al. being a victim of terrorism.
No sympathy for terrorists, no celebration for innocent people pointlessly suffering, but if and when Iran complains about terrorism on principle, we should all collectively snicker.
NonPersian Iranian Sunnis have been terrorisming in Iran for a while now, you just don’t hear about it.
I’d be interested in reading more about that: got any links to get me started?
This is real basic but you can branch out from there.

Reading the advance copy on Comey’s prepared remarks has been both highly amusing as well as completely predictable. Trump may be a buffoon but you’d have to be Maxine Waters-level dumb to specifically say that Comey told him thrice (I love using thrice!) that he wasn’t under investigation. Which Comey did tell him, and which he isn’t.
So this is a bunch of horseshit, as expected.
“Which Comey did tell him, and which he isn’t.”
That was the last hope of the ‘resistance’. Oh well, maybe Liarwatha can hold another recount.
You give these dickheads more credit than they deserve. i for one suspect they will not abandon their fantasy that somehow the fishing expeditions and the incessant shit flinging by their operatives across the board will culminate in something sticking. That or Trump basically calling it quits in disgust with the shit storm they think they are causing with their antics preventing him from being able to run the country
The recount wasn’t by Dances with Lobbyists. It was from Jill “These suckers keep giving me all this money I guess I’ll go with it” Stein.
Oh shit, you’re right. Not sure why I was thinking it was Warren. I’m pretty sure that Hillary put Stein up to it though. She made a killing off the useful idiots with that one.
Yeah that was brilliant. No, you didn’t get 1.32%, you got 1.33%!
AOSHQ take:
He only had two private face-to-face conversations with Obama and one of them was a personal visit to tell his boss good-bye in 2016, according to the written statement.
Oh, the media won’t quit, but for the rank and file I think it’s pretty hard for most people to keep up that level of outrageous outrage at all times. That “resistance” bullshit will start to lose some steam. Sure, it has become accepted wisdom that Trump and the Russians did SOMETHING to monkey with the election, but in the absence of any actual evidence of such only the hard left fringe will be able to keep firing on all cylinders. Since, after all, that’s the only purpose to their lives.
^^This^^ When’s the last time you heard anything about Occupy Wall Street?
I hear leftists whinging relatively often about how it was a noble and pure movement that was then corrupted by identity politics. Sure, whatever, dude.
Uptwinkles?
Comey feels burned and everything he says is suspect. Reality is he thought he had job security because of the Russia probe.
He’s doing what I suspected. He’s going to cast vague aspersions and leave the entire thing open ended for Mueller. Mueller…the guy who basically considers himself his mentor.
I read the rather weak publication from the previous Master Reptilian Enforcer*
He stated he was ‘uncomfortable’ during his first meeting with his Senior Supreme Provincial Overlord.
If what took place was was true he should have immediately ripped the Overlord’s throat out. Of course you puny mammals would have done something lame like resign immediately and cite these details.
Instead this little weasely mammal chose to say nothing, and instead hang around hoping to further fuck with his Overlord.
The Comey mammal has documented that he is a moist-ass bitch

The only news today that matters: Bob Stoops retired.
Suck it Sooners.
May his replacement beat our beloved ‘Horns less.
This is your periodic reminder that Texas lost to Kansas.
I’m not a fan of any team in the Big 12, I just find that hilarious.
And that’s why our coach got exiled to Tampa. I figured he’d get murdered after that game, but the gods chose a crueler fate for him.
Charlie Strong? More like Charlie Weak! He’s having a rough start around here. It appears his team is contending for the all-Florida Criminal Squad, giving the usually strong FSU-UF-UM triumvirate a tough run.
The new coach is their young OC who has only been there a couple of years. This bodes well for the ‘Horns.
Nah the Sooners got next years Red River on lock: Bob Stoops departing means Mike Stoops’ retrograde and suspect Tampa 2 will be out as well.
We’re gonna beat that ass next year.
Wow. Dude’s only 56. The curse of Clemson…
Retiring in June implies something is up.
At the very least, he doesn’t like the AD and wants his assistant to get first shot at the HC job as an interim.
I guess there is time to find someone else, but they would be starting fresh in August without a spring practice or any of their own recruits.
I get the feeling there’s another shoe to drop as well. This popped up out of nowhere.
It’s sort of a shame; for a (very good) conference rival, I’ve never really disliked him.
It’s not like he was Art Briles or anything.
I’m going to miss Big Game Bob. Oh well, there’s always Urban Meyer. Go Tigers.
Why I hate everyone, reason 579: This article about My Neighbor Totoro and Grave of the Fireflies. This woman spends the entire article (and it’s quite lengthy) talking about how disturbing and hard to watch Grave of the Fireflies is for its depiction of children starving to death. And then, near the end of the article, when talking about how popular Totoro merchandise is, she goes,
I got so pissed off at this point that I could physically feel my blood pressure skyrocketing. YOU JUST SPENT AN ENTIRE FUCKING ARTICLE TALKING ABOUT HOW DISTURBING IT IS TO SEE CHILDREN STARVING TO DEATH, AND THEN YOU GO ON AN ANTI-CAPITALISM RANT? PULL YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR GODDAMN ASS FOR TWO FUCKING SECONDS AND LOOK AT VENEZUELA!! What the fuck is wrong with these people?
How many children were treated like children before capitalism?
Historically, children having “childhoods” as we understand them today is a function of food. So warm periods, children have dolls and stuff. Cold periods, the records are that two year olds chased pests in the garden, and by four were probably helping preserve or gather food.
That question gets harder when you define “children” to include people up to 18…or now 26.
I have clients in their thirties that I hear from less frequently than their parents.
Grave of the Fireflies is one of the most depressing movies I’ve ever watched. It’s an incredible piece of film. It also has nothing to redeem itself at the end. I don’t care how tough you think you are, you will bawl at that movie.
And of course, you’re 100% right here. That woman will *never* see it though.
That movie is the most emotionally devastating one I’ve ever seen and I watched it before I had children. I don’t think I could watch it now. Great film, but that’s a ride you only take once.
Agreed. I still have the DVD somewhere, but now that I have a kid there’s no possible way I could watch that movie ever again.
Harder to watch, indeed, than When the Wind Blows by Raymond Briggs.
Have you seen Forbidden Games?
Those first 5 minutes are brutal.
I found GotF by looking at a ‘saddest movies’ list. That was the only one on the list that really hit me in the feels (and I did cry).
Said starved children probably has the best response to that.
Don’t you know? All the children are well fed in fantasy land.
No, you see that’s just state capitalism, because if they had true communism no one would be starving and their average life expectancy would be 95. Capitalism is the truest form of evil because it means you have to do more than sit and stare at a wall to eat, which everyone knows is literally hitler.
Yes, I believe we called it “abolishing slavery”.
Also, if you go through her list and think for half a second it’s hilarious. Currently you have more ways to present your art and ‘individual expression’ than any other period of human history, her idea of childhood and youth culture (also the concept of teenagers) only exists because of the Industrial Revolution, farming is the most productive it’s ever been and actually way less destructive than older models, the working class is extremely well-off and historically was always better off in capitalist than socialist economies, socialist countries were terrible for the environment and environmentalism is purely a cultural concept in wealthy capitalist countries, end-of-life care is only a problem now because life expectancy is so damn high, and I don’t even want to know what she thinks are the ‘basic ideas of what makes us human’.
We call this being ‘spoiled’.
No, you’ve got it all wrong. There was this mythical time when human culture was at its apex, scarcity was nonexistent, and the world was at peace without a trace of capitalism around. You’ve never heard of it because it doesn’t exist, but if you just clap your hands and believe…

Well, it’s Tor.com – what did you expect? There’s the occasional interesting nugget to be found there, but you have to wade through a swamp of prog derp to find it. (And it’s only getting worse.)
In the linked article, the author, after that brief anti-logic, anti-capitalism rant, goes right into extolling the parts of capitalism she likes (showing images of Ghibli merchandise). That looks to me like the kind of person who’s heard capitalism is bad, but has no fucking idea how her ‘capitalism is evil’ mentality reconciles with reality. IOW, like many people, she has an opinion about something about which she knows next-to-nothing.
(comments are enabled for that article, BTW, if anyone cares to enlighten her– CBA)
You see this all the time, their rejection of capitalism is all just in theory. In reality they would cry like babies if it was taken away.
how anyone working for a PUBLISHING COMPANY is ridiculous, tbh. I know it’s not uncommon for editors and such to be left wing in New York, but it’s still pretty absurd to not think that you’re literally working for a company engaged in art, commerce, and sharing of ideas without government intervention, and you THINK IT’S BAD.

WaPo remembers when Progressives in Portland wore white hoods to cover their faces instead of black. Weirdly, this is somehow recast as right-wingerism.

Kamala Harris celebrated by CNN, TPM, HuffPo, et al for her absurd and obtuse dogging of witnesses
Actual video of the Q+A
She basically makes extended statements and insists that witnesses answer Yes or No to her speeches
that’s not testimony = that’s putting words in a person’s mouth for them, and demanding they affirm them
If a senator did that to me, I’d tell them to shut their goddamn mouth.
Get back in the kitchen and make me some pie!
First reaction was ewww!.
After sober reflection, my reaction isn’t any more favorable.
Given her record as California Attorney General, how the fuck is that woman this progressive darling? If a Republican did the exact same things she did as AG he’d be worse than Hitler.
Chronicle headline: Kamala Harris told to pipe down at hearing, Twitter goes wild
Willie Brown told her to go down on his pipe and go wild as well.
I’m sorry. She isn’t worse than Hitler. You are.
BUT SHE PERSISTED
/claps like trained seal
Damn. Y’all are killing this subthread.
Grade A Lawls here.
And apparently she did the same thing yesterday
I’m aware that Senators use these opportunities to make speeches and pretend they’re questions, but it seems the new M.O. is to “Purposely be a contentious mega-bitch and then receive a tidal wave of applause from all the sycophant media that things “SHE PERSISTED” is some sort of political accomplishment”
Harris is a perfect representation of what progressive politics has become. The completely deluded here in SD are clamouring for her to run for President in 2020. I don’t think the DNC is quite that stupid.
That should be “SF”.
Keith. Eillison.
That’s why I hedged a bit. If she was from somewhere else I could see it more easily. But a solidly anti gun progressive from Califrickinfornia is perhaps even a bit too far for Ellison. But nothing would surprise me these days.
It’s the same crowd that view shrieking, screaming, threatening and all around conducting oneself like a low IQ asshole is the height of political activism and resistance of Trump. The left has managed to make intellectual bankruptcy into a superpower.
You guys don’t understand…. she PERSEVERED.
Look, you can’t appropriate that from Lizzie Warren. Only her people can endeavor to persevere.
How?

I think I’ve made it reasonably clear on this site that I have…reservations…about capitalism. I think society’s turn toward corporatization has had a negative impact on art, childhood, farming, youth culture, the working class, the environment, individual expression, end-of-life care, and the basic ideas of what makes us human.
What a maroon.
Hilarious. Knew it couldn’t have been based on sober reflection.

CNN home page is hilarious.
Jesus they really think they’ve got something.
Isn’t the bombshell old news, namely this:
He wrote that Trump said: “‘I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go.”
And more busted old spin:
“There is a criminal investigation going on of one of the President’s top associations … he gets fired, he is under under investigation and the President brings in the FBI Director and says ‘please stop your investigation,'” said CNN’s senior legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin.
“If that isn’t obstruction of justice, I don’t know what is,” Toobin said.
I would say he doesn’t know what obstruction of justice is, then. Because there’s a statute that defines it, and that ain’t obstruction.
“Forget it RC, It’s Toobin.”
It’s entirely true. He doesn’t know what obstruction of justice is.
Welcome to Comey Island! Lad of amusements and fantastical ideas!
I’m pissed about this Kansas tax increase thing. Somehow the derp leaked past my Facebook filters and I saw so many dumb as shit comments my brain had to go to a safe space.
Kansas has the lowest unemployment rate in like 16 years is one of the lowest in the country, and has a pretty good rate of new business starts but because their public works people and their school teachers can’t spend their budgets wisely the Brownback tax cuts were a “disaster.”
FUCK YOU!
Wow, my first misthreading.
Congratulations!
From what I’ve read about the Brownback tax cuts, the main problem was that the moderate legislature went “Budget cuts? WHAT CUTS? Nope, Brownback, Nothing. Left. To Cut.” So of course the state government is in serious debt.
They’re deranged. Even worse than the many, many headlines about Trump is the one praising Kamala Harris for being a grandstanding bitch and unwilling to let anyone answer her speechifying
Oh this is just priceless:
Donald Trump’s Approval Rating Is Better Than Bill Clinton’s at This Point in His First Term
Also, I suspect that Trump’s approval ratings are actually higher than what the polls indicate. They always oversample Democrats at a percentage well above their registration numbers, and I think it’s highly likely that they don’t touch many folks in the rural areas and get a disproportionately urban sample.
But do you know who did touch many people in rural areas?
STEVE SMITH NOT TOUCH STEVE SMITH RAPE
Thank you!
I have concerns.
not about politics. about dressing like a 7yr old’s birthday-party magician and thinking you look cool.

bad signs. millenial hipsters had their beards and their tight pants and silly colored shades. but this is, if anything, sadder.

No. that’s more ‘hipster’.
The steez i’m pointing out is more like, “Nation of Islam -meets- Party clown” It requires bow tie and terrible mismatches of color. The closest you’ll probably get is some DC comics supervillan
Bow ties are huge right now for younger folks. My son wore one to his 8th-grade graduation.
As if the bow ties weren’t bad enough
Yeah, I know. But it was more a fun thing than a serious thing. They gave out attendance awards and stuff like that. They showed a video, etc.
I think also a part of the reason they do it is because not all of those kids from that middle school go to the same high school — they get split apart into 2 high schools.
I don’t want to live on this planet anymore.
I wore a fucking cardigan in my senior picture. A cardigan!
All of us probably dressed pretty stupidly in our youth.
/me hides his 2″ clip-on Rainbow Suspenders
I’ll give the guy some small measure of credit for wearing what appears to be a legit bowtie, not a clip-on.
They sell pre-tied bowties that go all the way around the neck, too.
I gotta figure out whether to get a pocket square to go with my non-pre-tied bowtie, or to go with one of the pre-tied set I have, for my niece’s wedding in August.
Why does he have toilet paper in his jacket pocket? Did he eat street food for lunch? In Bangladesh?
I feel like i should go up to these people and say, “When you look back at yourself 20 years from now, you’re going to seem like these people”
you’re not ‘cutting edge’; you’re jumping on a bandwagon that is headed off a cliff.
I blame Tucker himself. Didn’t he used to be all about the bowtie?
I blame George Will and his Sports Machine.
As a school teacher, a heartfelt thanks to all of you here. This website is an oasis from the unreal leftist stupidity spouted by my colleagues and similarly-ill-informed students on a daily basis.
+1 Sanity restored.
I come here for the same reason. It’s nice to know that everyone out there is a deranged lunatic.
that NOT everyone out there….
out there? yeah, they’re lunatics.
Are you saying I’m not deranged? I’ll cut you, brotch!
Oh, you might be. I didn’t say which of you I consider non-deranged.
Glad you joined us. You will be expected to make Steve Smith references and make fun of Florida when appropriate. But not Ohio, you leave them out of this.
Trump approves 15 new rules in first 5 months compared to Obama’s 93 and Bush’s 114. Grumbling from the usual prog lobby groups as well as some crony business groups. 2-for-1 does seem a bit simplistic without a way to argue a new rule actually reduces government regulation. Usually a blanket ban that can be reduced by rules and regulations. But look at that pretty graph.
“It’s slowed to a crawl, and I’m sure for some folks, that’s a demonstration that the administration is putting their money where their mouth is,” said Amit Narang, a regulatory expert at Public Citizen, a watchdog group. “But for us, this is really alarming.”
Blow it out your bunghole you sheep-fucking turd-juggler!
That’s a colorful version of ‘fuck off slaver’.
We want more rules!!! *stamps foot, pouts*
This subtly conveys a point that I try to make as boldly as possible every time I talk to a “progressive”: Republicans are NOT the small government free market guys that they make themselves out to be. They talk the talk and occasionally remove some regulations, but it pales in comparison to their huge expansions of government expense and authority.
More evidence that Trump could be the first president in my short lifetime that I can say is good: not great, but good.
Stress of a Trump Presidency could make people sick. Is there anything that man can’t fuck up?

You know who else made people literally sick?
Josef Mengele?
Typhoid Mary?
The rhinovirus?
Chipotle?
That would be awesome.
no comments? what is this?!
The Spectator has an article about Six Day War anniversary that…goes against the grain of most of the articles I’ve seen (adjusting for the fact I live in Canada, where goodthink on Israel covers the gamut between ‘they should give Palestine a statea and also citizenship to every Palestinian and also stop being a Jewish state’ and ‘into the sea with (((them)))’).
My father was exiled from Egypt after the six days war for being a Jew. He was never a citizen of Egypt even though he was born in Cairo. Jews were not allowed to be citizens of Egypt at that time regardless of birthplace or length of residency. My grandfather was a goldsmith (yes the stereotypes are true) and made good money until the arabs forced him out of work. He had to take his entire family and flee for fear of losing everything. Mind you this was in the late 60s. WWII was still relatively fresh in people’s minds, and yet it didn’t sound like it ever ended in Egypt.
Regardless of any arguments against Israel’s current policies, Anyone that seriously questions Israel’s role in the six day war or whether or not the right people won deserve to die of syphilis.
Still have family there? Does the el-Sisi regime treat the Egyptian Jews fairly well or are there basically none left?
Apparently there’s six Jews left in Egypt, so I’m going to say ‘the latter’.

WaPo lies and distorts through their teeth in that article.
The Oregon Donation Land Act was a federal law, not a state one and seeing as Oregon was a territory at the time, had no representation in passing that law.
Progressivism and racism go hand in hand back to the beginning.
Oregon’s 1920’s KKK movement was largely anti immigrant and anti Catholic, not anti black (well because there were very few blacks, which is not the same thing as no blacks.) Oregon’s mandatory school law was aimed at shutting down parochial schools and forcing Catholics to send their kids to public schools where they could be indoctrinated properly for instance.
Oregon was hardly a white only state at inception, unless Indians are considered whites. There was also significant numbers of Asians shortly afterwards, particularly Japanese decent, not just in the larger cities but throughout the state as farmers up until… oh 1941 and then those evil Republicans did something. Also in WWII, comparatively large numbers of blacks, among others, flocked to the economic opportunities (!) in the shipyards and elsewhere and many stayed afterwards and what do you know, many of the racist laws started to be repealed as a result.
The state is only largely white today if Hispanics are considered white.
Only a racist would point out that the WaPo might be wrong on something, How was your Klan rally today? Did you take a hotdish for the after rally picnic?
I don’t know. I ate red beans & rice at Popeye’s today instead.

pic is glorious
Cute. But, the armor doesn’t protect the ears. A street fighting cat has had his ears torn to shreds.
silly censoring Saudis: Saudi ad turns woman in pool into an inflatable ball

Saudi Arabia replaced a mom in a swimming pool advertisement with an inflatable ball. In the Saudi ad, her children are featured looking over so lovingly at a ball in the corner. It’s telling about the value of women under the Sharia, where women have to be hidden away even in an innocuous advertisement. Under this gender apartheid in Saudi Arabia, women can only use private, women-only pools; they cannot try on clothes in stores even behind closed doors, because then it would be a woman’s fault for causing the male imagination to run wild; women can’t drive; and are further subjugated under a degrading male guardianship system. All justified by Sharia.

Third London jihad murderer told Italian police: “I’m going to be a terrorist,” had no trouble entering UK

The Moroccan-Italian man who has been identified as the third London attacker told Italian authorities “I’m going to be a terrorist,” when he was stopped at Bologna Airport last year, an Italian security official told POLITICO.
Youssef Zaghba, 22, was the third man shot dead by police during Saturday’s terrorist attack in central London. He had been notified to British and Moroccan authorities by Italian intelligence when Italian police intercepted him on 15 March 2016 at Bologna Airport with a one-way ticket for Istanbul, two officials said on condition of anonymity.
He was stopped because he looked “agitated,” one source said. When questioned by police at the airport about the reasons for his journey, he replied, “I’m going to be a terrorist.” He was carrying no luggage.
Police phoned his mother who, according to the source, said she had been worried about her son because he had talking about jihad. She told the Italian authorities that Zaghba was working in a Pakistani restaurant in London. The Italian authorities seized his phone and several sim cards but did not arrest him because he had not committed a crime. They did report him to the authorities in Bologna which began proceedings against him for terrorism offences.

file under “Coexist” bumper sticker: Idaho Muslim Migrants who raped 5-year-old plead guilty, get no jail time

The travesty of justice in Idaho is now complete. In the summer of 2016, a 5-year-old girl was orally and anally raped and urinated upon by three Muslim migrant boys in Twin Falls, Idaho. Since then, instead of getting justice, the victim’s family has been abused by law enforcement and governing authorities as if they were the criminals – because what happened to their little girl contradicts the politically correct narrative about Muslim migrants. On Tuesday, the perpetrators were sentenced, and the final injustice was done to this poor girl.
The injustice began in the proceedings at the Snake River Juvenile Detention Center in Twin Falls when Judge Thomas Borreson of Idaho’s 5th Judicial District ordered the little victim’s parents to say nothing to anyone – ever – about what was said in the courtroom Tuesday, or to disclose the sentence that he gave to the savage attackers. He did allow them to say that they were unhappy with the sentencing, but threatened to jail them for contempt of court if they disclosed why they were unhappy with it.
But even though the victim’s parents were not allowed to talk to me, there were twelve to fifteen people in the courtroom who saw and heard the whole sorry business. I was nevertheless informed of what happened by an anonymous source inside the courtroom – and the more I heard, the more I understood why this judge wanted to keep all the proceedings secret.
Janice Kroeger, the Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, who was supposed to be trying these boys for their crimes, defended the boys and repeatedly attacked Lacy, the victim’s mother. A therapist for the boys was present, as well as a parole officer and a detective. Everything that was said was designed to portray the perpetrators as victims. Throughout the proceedings, they were repeatedly called victims, and the youngest one was called “the biggest victim of them all.”
The court heard all about how the attackers are doing well in school, and about how smart they are. They were praised for the supposed ordeal they had to go through. It was claimed that all three are suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from having to go through courtroom proceedings.

*Gathers up pitchforks*
That may happen in one form or another
I have a difficult time believing all of this. Hopefully JW can sue successfully for the transcript.
They’re juveniles tried in a juvenile court. Not wholly surprising that they didn’t get jail time, the proceedings focus on the accused, that the proceedings are closed to the public and the participants aren’t supposed to divulge the proceedings.
Gotta consider the source there, but if that’s how it went down, well…..interesting times.
The gun group who sued Kaite Couric over her doctoring her gun grabber lost their court case. wtf?
Really?
Appeal already filed.
Holy fucking shit
Obama appointed judge. Shocker, that.
I’m really not sure what the appeals court is going to do here. On the one hand, the district court judge’s reasoning WRT the editing not being misleading is ridiculous, and should certainly be overturned. On the other hand, there’s probably an argument to be made by Couric & Co. that even granting that the editing was misleading, there’s no defamation, and there are no damages. But I’m not a litigator, so I’m nowhere near an expert on such things.
It’s definitely a test of principles vs principals for me. I love the VCDL, and despise the media, but I don’t know how comfortable I am setting a precedent that an interview subject can sue for damages because they didn’t like the editing done to the interview.
I too am not a litigator nor a lawyer nor a paid actor playing a lawyer. That said, the intent to do harm is blatant and undeniable. That harm itself wouldn’t be hard to prove. The person she deliberately harmed is someone whom the law would regard as a “nobody” enough to give them legal protection from defamation. Katie Couric, a somebody, sitting across from this guy, a nobody, is pretty clearly using him as a sacrificial lamb to further her own career, so the motive is plain. But she didn’t limit this pursuit to some unfair rhetorical tactics, she deliberately edited a tape of the interviewee’s response in such a way to alter his completely alter his speech as presented to the public.
Editing in the awkward pause like she did was as good as putting words in his mouth that her never said.
It’s like saying, “Katie Kouric had no response when I told her she was a rapist who forced herself onto the interns on her program.”
(HYPOTHETICAL EXAMPLE)
Even better – “when I asked if she’d ever raped any of her interns, there was a long pause as the usually-voluble reporter fell silent…”
(HYPOTHETICAL EXAMPLE)
So I’m in Vegas. Anything good to do in this town?
Okay. I’m not serious. But I am a bit disappointed. I stayed at the Orleans specifically for an Irish pub I liked. Turns out they renovated and replaced it with a weak-ass hispter bar.
Thankfully, McMullen’s is still across the street with Innus & Gunn on tap.
