Trial For Venal, Buffoonish Leader Set for Fall; Process Could Lead to Ouster for Collusion I like the cut of these guys’ jib
Senate Republicans spin up obstruction of justice investigation for Loretta Lynch. If only there were some sort of, I don’t know, metal law…
Irish surprised to find out they aren’t white allowed to flaunt immigration laws anymore. If ever they were. It takes a special level of stupid to go on TV and talk about being illegal.
Oh, man, Trump bluffed Comey to keep him honest in his testimony and everyone is surprised, shocked, horrified that there are no tapes. Something, something his lips were moving. Also, see this grandmaster trolling. The enemy of my enemy is neither my friend nor ally necessarily, but I can enjoy watching him sow chaos and disorder.
The common thread, pretty va-cant.
WHERE’S FIST?
HERE!
Good movie
In fairness, all of the smart Irishman left decades ago.
Both of them?
(Not racist because I’m like 73/149ths Irish)
You can’t be racist against Irish, he’s the ur-racist.
Other than the laws he broke, he was a law abiding citizen. I’m mean, not a US citizen.
The Southern Irish can spare me their fucking whining.
When you want to watch the first six Star Wars movies but only have three hours to spare
Why does this have so many upvotes? Why does this have so many views?
There’s just something magical about Star Wars shitposting
Or you could just watch the “Episode IV: It’s all downhill after this one” and spend an hour doing something else fun.
I liked Return of the Jedi best, except for the bucktoothed hairy tree jawas. Future Darth Vader killing the younglings in Episode III was pretty kewl too.
NO SPOILERS!
Or you could do what I do: just pretend that the original trilogy is the only set of Star Wars movies in existence and enjoy them.
It’s FLOUT, goddammit.
You’re right. I’m going to leave it there so nobody thinks you’re shouting at clouds, though.
If you got it, flout it.
Actually, it’s FLOTUS.
Thank you! Was making me itchy.
Apparently not being a “professional politician” is a license for dishonesty — because that’s what this was.

‘Illustrious’ Ex-Pro Wrestler Running For Libertarian Candidate for Illinois Governor
“There’s unsavory characters in both politics and wrestling,” Stewart said, describing the two as similar pursuits with different costumes.
HAS MY VOTE!
Do it. I loved Jessie.
Loved. Past tense.
Dude is a huge liability now.
True. Best governor we’ve ever had, though.
Henry H. Sibley would like a word with you…
“We” as in you, me and Pope Jimbo.
That guy has made some bad political moves. Makes sense that he’s running as a Libertarian
I was hoping it was Kane.
That was my first thought. But I think he’s in NH with the free state project
Based on the headline I thought maybe Jesse Ventura was making another foray into politics.
“Oh, man, Trump bluffed Comey to keep him honest in his testimony”
Alternative view: Trump egged Comey to release his memos which has led to even more distractions. Trump’s game of six dimensional hungry, hungry, hippos is wearing thin
See, that would require Trump being smart and thinking ahead, whereas bluffing just requires the sort of animal cunning that lets you get real estate permits in the city of New York or Atlantic City, which would be too labyrinthine for Nobel Prize winning Economists to puzzle out with actual smarts.
Oh, I never said he was thinking ahead. I think he was trying to play Twitter toughie and it blew-up in his face
How did it blow up in his face? What’s the blowback?
The blow is a sternly worded opinion piece in WaPo! Devastating. Trump is rekt, man. REKT!
Well, if we are to believe Comey’s testimony. He leaked his memos after Trump tweeted about having recordings of his conversation with Comey
Nope he did not…see may 11 nyt article about loyalTy convo. It was clearly read to nyt by a friend from a transcript. The nyt didnt know it came from a memo
See, that would require Trump being smart and thinking ahead,
And that’s why it’s 6-dimensional Hungry Hungry Hippos and not 6-dimensional chess.
Ah, but Comey didn’t “release” his memos, he (a) stole them and (b) leaked them, thus discrediting himself and casting a cloud over the special prosecutor he leaked them to get.
Them hippos are still hungry!
*adjusts hat and hair*
And they apparently vanished into thin air, since he hasn’t produced them but only testified as to what he claims they say.
They haven’t vanished. His law prof buddy and presumably some journalists have copies.
No, the journalists only heard it over the phone. Ten bucks says there are no notes or there are incriminating notes that undercut part of his testimony. Otherwise, it makes no sense why they would fight the subpoena so much
Or maybe because they are on his computer, in a file named “notes” and one of the entries there is “god, Loretta is an obstructionist cunt, and Barack should not be getting involved in this”. And even as a big a bag of dicks that Comey is he won’t resort to the shady shit the Clinton’s and their crony’s do and destroy evidence. So they fight the subpoena. He might be 6′ 8″ but one can still be shot in the back regardless of how tall one is.
He got fired when he was out of DC giving a speech. I wonder who has his computer?
That may 12 tweet by trump was fingering comey as a leaker. He had leaked thru his friend about loyalty issue in a may 11 nyt article
And this trump tweet goaded comey into lieing during testimony why he leaked his convos thru a friend…he claimed it was trumps tweet and tapes could corrobate. But he was already leaking before and i suspect comey was responsible for leaks while he was fbi director.
WHERE’S FIST?

What we need is feminist terminality.

It’s a better standard than “put some black guy in charge” at least.

NBA Draft is tonight. The circle shall be complete, the triumvirate shall be confirmed, and the Sixers will rule the land forevermore.
Much like Chicago winning the World Series, that would be a harbinger of disaster in Philly.
The sun rising is a harbinger of disaster in Philly.
And it gets booed every morning.
+1 Paddy’s Pub
Who’s going to draft Lonzo Ball’s dad?
Last time I watched an NBA draft, the Celtics took Len Bias – cementing their dominance over the Lakers and guaranteeing 3 more championships.
My dad still talks about that. It essentially destroyed their organization.
They started to come back with Reggie Lewis – who died even more tragically.
Huh. Interesting. The cop who found Lewis unconscious in the gym at Brandeis and tried to revive him with CPR was the same cop who was later involved in the infamous Obama Beer Summit.
Sixers rising! So excited

The only thing that could possibly be worse than watching sportzball on teh teeeveee is watching them select future sportzballerz.

Irish surprised to find out they aren’t allowed to flaunt immigration laws anymore.
“Please don’t send me back to the place where my accent doesn’t get me laid!”
Boston, one of the few places that makes the Irish look civilized and reasonable.
“It was shitty when we got here!”
Well… in the late 80’s / early 90’s I lived in Boston. South Boston was pretty scary. Drunk red-headed guys passed out in the gutter or screaming gibberish that wasn’t in the neighborhood of English.
I lived in Southie for about 6 months in late 02, early 03. I guess the area cleaned up quite a bit by then because it seamed to be a fairly quiet, clean neighborhood. At least where I lived(off G or H street, near a school and large Catholic church), within walking distance of the border with Dorchester.
I lived there for a few years in my early twenties and ran across several Irishmen and Englishmen for the first time in my life. What kept fucking with me was that they would ask me if I had a fag.
I guess I’d never heard that term for a cigarette before and I didn’t quite know how to react. I thought maybe I just fit a general body type or something that was considered desirable to gay men from that area of the world.
After about the fouth time I said sorry, not interested and walked away a dude picked up on my misinterpretation and let me know that wasn’t what he meant. Kinda felt like a hayseed afterwards but such is life.
What does it feel like to be a hayseed, exactly?
It’s not horrible. Sure, you feel a touch of embarrassment when your ignorance is exposed in a cosmopolitan situation but I guess it keeps one humble, which I believe is a good thing on the by and large.
Fortunately, I had an outlet from my predominantly rual, fairly racist, pasty white upbringing through boxing. Weekdays with the country boys, weekends in the city/cities at tournaments running around with black and hispanic hoodrats.
That didn’t exactly aid me while in the presence of more sophisticated company, it did help me to see things from a few more cultural viewpoints and I’m positive it helped me refrain from responding to the Irishmen’s request for a fag with a douche bag response like ‘Fuck off, queer!’
ask HayBob?
There are an unusual number of Irish and Greeks in my town, but whereas the Greeks are mostly second or third generation a bunch of the Irish are fresh off the boat. First gen or second gen Irish people here seem to not only maintain close contact with people back home but are more than happy to encourage more to come over, put them up with a place to stay, and either hire them or find them jobs. So, you wind up with a big immigrant community that takes care of its own, within which a number of folks have long overstayed their Visas and are effectively living off the grid. It’s funny because you see something similar with the Salvadorans and the Hondurans around here–a little less so with the Mexicans, who are well on their way to being the new Greeks–where you’ve got houses rented by like six guys who all either cook or work construction, but since the Irish guys speak more-or-less the same language and are typically into the same shit, such as drinking at Irish pubs owned by actual Irish people, you don’t notice it.

Same here with any site that does that. None of their content is interesting enough to deal with the pop up BS.

Family: Peter Tosh’s son left in coma following jail beating
TRENTON, N.J.
The family of the late reggae icon Peter Tosh is seeking answers after they say his son was left in a coma following an attack in a New Jersey jail.
Jawara McIntosh has been hospitalized since suffering traumatic brain injuries in the attack in February at the Bergen County jail, where he was serving a six-month sentence after pleading guilty to marijuana possession, his family said.
http://www.centredaily.com/entertainment/celebrities/article157613539.html
He should have respected the laws, like Otto Warmbier.
Or Philandro Castile.
Or Eric Garner.
I thought people didn’t go jail for mere possession?
“police said they found more than 65 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of his rental car.”
Oh, well, that’s different, that could keep a whole kindergarten class stoned for hours!
/sarc
It also says he’s a Rastafarian, did he get to argue that at his trial?
it was 65 pounds.
Which shouldn’t matter, obviously.
Beer analogy: A 6-pack is decriminalized, but a keg will get you beaten into a coma in jail.
Just stating the facts. Not saying I find them acceptable.
I know. I just wanted to talk about beer.
OK.
Castle Danger’s Ode is fucking fantastic.
OK, here we go
‘charged with possession of “25 pounds or more of marijuana with intent to deliver.”‘
and
““I was raised in the tradition of Rastafari, which is not simply a religion but a way of life.”
I know that Religious Freedom Restoration Acts are all racist and evil, but maybe New Jersey should have one (Wikipedia says they don’t).
Let’s put it this way: If the prosecutor can’t prove, in open court, that restricting someone’s religious practice is the least restrictive means of achieving a compelling public interest, how can the prosecution be consistent with religious freedom?
It would be easy enough to show that it’s justifiable to prosecute religiously-motivated murder, but what about religiously-motivated herbal-induced mental states?
I’m not up to weed speed…is that a lot?
I’m not an expert, but I think that qualifies as what is technically called “a lotta weed.”

(*) that’s just his disclosed assets. He also lists two mortgages opened 14 years ago for 30 years (so halfway through) at $350k-$700K but doesn’t list any real estate assets even though the disclosure form clearly shows property in the example. Hmm…
Hey, that only puts him in the 95th percentile for net wealth, he’s practically living in poverty
Isnt that what progressivism is?
Isnt cohn more of a liberal?
If I was Trump, I think I’d put together a task force of forensic accountants to go through those disclosures by Congressholes and publicize the results. I bet it would be shocking, the amount of unreported assets and income.
I’d also push for much more detailed disclosure requirements and actual penalties for not disclosing adequately.
Ed Maaakey has rejected all types of logic.
Hot off the hard to believe rumors desk- Harley wants to buy Ducati.
A deal with Harley-Davidson would bring together the maker of touring bikes like the Electra Glide that are symbolic of America with a leading European maker whose high-performance bikes have a distinguished racing heritage.
Milwaukee-based Harley-Davidson has hired Goldman Sachs to work on the deal, one source familiar with the matter said, adding tentative bids were expected in July.
Volkswagen, whose Audi division controls Ducati – maker of the iconic Monster motorbike – is working with investment boutique Evercore on the sale which will help it fund a strategic overhaul following its emissions scandal.
Based in the northern Italian city of Bologna, Ducati was on the wish list of private equity funds KKR (KKR.N), Bain Capital and Permira, which are all working on the deal, said the sources who declined to be identified as the process is private.
Acquisition for acquisition’s sake seldom end well. Except for the bankers.
Why would a maker of heavy bikes that perform for shit want to buy light bikes that perform well?
Harley talked about this years ago. I sincerely hope it doesn’t happen after seeing what they did with Buell.
Buell had some great ideas and great bikes, guy seemed like he could never catch a break though. Real shame.
A brief example of why i hate the weed-legalization issue =
Exhibit A
New Jersey Comes Closer to Legalizing Weed
…
Exhibit B
my beef is not that weed-“legalization” is a bad thing. its that all they really mean when they talk about it politically, is that they want it to be legal for white people. and they debate how they can ‘safely’ do that.
Stopping the whole “arresting/shooting/jailing” people and destroying their lives should be ‘step 1’. Fuck the legalization complexities = just stop killing people over the shit.
but they don’t want to do that because that means leaving the thuggy street dealers alone, and letting young black kids wander around stoned as fuck. so they try to find some way to have their cake and eat itserve it citations too.
em tag instead of del?
How do you do that though? Just say to the cops “okay guys we expect you to do your jobs, but ignore this set of laws over here, mkay?”
Err, yeah they do it all the time.
It’s not exactly like the cops spend any real time investigating petty property crime. Your house got robbed? They’ll show up take a report and that is the last you’ll hear about it.
Its actually overt policy at a lot of departments. When I lived in Dallas, they were quite explicit that they wouldn’t investigate thefts without violence or a break-in.
That’s a good point. Criminalizing distribution, but not consumption produces consequences that are disproportionately born by the poor and minorities. Legalization should be legalization full stop.
“”” Legalization should be legalization full stop.””
specifically, i feel “Decriminalization” should be the first concern. as in, take the entire category of weed-related offenses off the books.
legalizing involves writing new law. which involves everyone wanting to put their $0.02 on how it should be implemented. it becomes like ‘regulating alcohol’.
i’m not interested in the regulatory aspects. I just want them to stop jailing people. but that’s not how the issue is framed because it scares white people to talk about “telling police to stop jailing black teens”
but that’s not how the issue is framed because it scares white people to talk about “telling police to stop jailing black teens”
If there’s one thing that’s borne out since the CRA of ’64, the PC movement, the SJW movement, the feminist movement, and the Millennial generation, it’s that whitey has no other motivation than keeping the black man in jail.
This is nothing but grievance industry weak sauce.
Also, many of the people who have traditionally called for stiff drug sentences have been non-caucasian.
That part gets edited out like an outdated edition of the Great Soviet Encyclopedia.
It might sound like stuff you hear from the BLM types but that’s not at all where i’m coming from, and i think you’re reacting to some parody-version of my argument rather than what i’m actually saying.
The legalization movement to a large degree has in fact been mostly a “white thing”.
It has not made ‘stopping the millions of annual weed-arrests’ the priority as much as it has pushed the idea that good law-abiding white people should have opportunities to buy the stuff from state-certified vendors and enjoy it in the comforts of their own home without feeling like they’re doing something wrong.
they have largely overlooked the fact that weed laws mainly affect an entirely different group of people. Me pointing this out isn’t some grief mongering, its a fact.
http://marijuana-arrests.com/images/nyc-marijuana-arrests-1978-2013.jpg
So your point is that white people are uniquely selfish and insensitive to the impact of drug laws on black people because they are primarily concerned with their own interests? I mean, it’s probably true, but the same for any given law. Nobody gives a fuck about the way a law affects their neighbor. I don’t think the byzantine set of alcohol regulations put in place after prohibition were a byproduct of the general insensitivity of boozers towards the plight of the Italian immigrant, even though they were arguably more affected by it.
….
for the third or fourth time….
my point is about a practical distinction between “Decriminalization” (read: taking laws off the books/reclassifying as fines)
and “Legalization” (creating a whole new legal framework which requires myriad new laws/regulations)
My point is that the MJ ‘issue’ in america is largely focused on the latter rather than the former.
I’m really trying hard not to say anything nasty at this point.
I’m very familiar with the distinction between legalization and decriminalization, to the point that I had a 50 post long argument about it on here a few weeks ago where I stood accused of being in favor of civil penalties for marijuana possession based on differing understandings of what “decriminalization” means and then arguing the definition to utter exhaustion. I certainly don’t need your assistance understanding it.
The problem is that your post wasn’t at all framed as a contrast between the finer points of legalization and decriminalization from a political standpoint, it was framed as a race issue. If you object to my having responded as such, perhaps next time spend more time focusing on the ostensible topic of your post instead of flogging retarded grievance industry points.
And please feel free to say whatever the fuck you want. Nobody’s getting married here.
it appears you did.
Well, I’ll admit that legalization being racist was a new one on me, so I guess you got me there.
As far as the legal and political differences between the two approaches (which, again, your original post doesn’t even actually address), I’m pretty clear.
I guess we’ll have to agree to agree on this one, and you get the brownie points for being woke.
If weed were legal and available for something close enough to the street price to make it worth it for the average consumer to get it at the store rather than from a street dealer, do you really think there’d still be any reason for the negro youth to keep selling it?
You hear this argument all the time, but it presumes that the same people now slinging drugs on the street are going to shrug their shoulders and go “oh well, it was fun while it lasted” when they get undercut by whatever the marijuana equivalent of Phillips Morris is going to be. Or even more implausibly, they’re going to go open up a nice little shop in their neighborhood and become legal pot retailers and pay their taxes, because the only reason they got into drug dealing is because they were just dedicated pot enthusiasts.
Which isn’t to say that your priorities aren’t straight. But literally no one within mainstream politics is suggesting legalizing all drugs – just weed. And the people selling weed on the street are probably going to continue to get shot and harassed by cops for generations to come after weed is legal. They’re not selling weed for the love of it. They’re going to move on to whatever else continues to be illegal.
so?
Weed is by far the largest category of drug arrests in america
Put it this way: if weed were magically legalized nationwide tomorrow, do you think the total number of drug arrests would decline precipitously in the years following, or that the dealers and law enforcement that were wrapped up in that industry would just move on to other drugs that remain illegal?
I think you need to go back to the very first comments i made, because i wasn’t ever suggesting this would be an outcome.
I’m not interested in legalizing as much as “decriminalizing”. I think many arrests would probably continue and the drug war would simply change focus.
but you couldn’t prosecute+jail people on weed alone.
but you couldn’t prosecute+jail people on weed alone.
Inarguably true and perhaps a noble sentiment, but what I’m suggesting is that this would probably be of very little consequence to black street dealers – which seemed to be what you were arguing – because they will probably move on to different careers within the criminal underworld rather than going straight or capitalizing on the newly-legal market.
What gave you the impression that all weed arrests are of “Dealers”?
if you cherry picked the one line i had above about how…
“talking about decriminalization scares white people because it means leaving thuggy drug dealers alone”
…you might think that. it was a rhetorical point about the imaginations of soccer moms, not practical reality.
If you pay closer attention i’m making a larger point about the differences between ‘decriminalization’ versus ‘legalization’.
I have no such impression, I was responding primarily to this quip from your original post:
but they don’t want to do that because that means leaving the thuggy street dealers alone
If you think the “thuggy street dealers” are going to be off the police radar the day after marijuana is legalized, I think you’re going to be sorely disappointed. That’s all.
If not already clear, you misunderstood the significance of that.
I was making a point about how “that’s why white people don’t like talking about *decriminalization*” (vs. the current approach, which is ‘legalization by imposition of new regulatory schemes’)
not that decrim would MEAN that in reality.
….
Okay, my fault then. I think you are giving whitey way too much credit though. Most people who aren’t policy wonks and political junkies don’t really have a working understanding of the differences you’re discussing.
FWIW, I think all laws regarding the scheduling, distribution and consumption of all drugs should be repealed. I am strongly in favor of the removal of all criminal and civil penalties vs. the gradualism of “legalize and tax”. I just don’t think it’s primarily a race thing.
No one said it was “primarily a race thing”
i think if you want to pretend there’s NO racial aspect to the way weed-law/policy in america works, you’re high
or at least appallingly naive
I see all colors at my pot shop, fuck off Slaver
but mostly purple?
Shear number of users would say yes. Yes the numbers would decline. Anecdotal evidence time, Half the people I know smoke pot, a handful use coke, some pop pills, I know not a single junkie (that I know of)
I was responding more specifically to this part:
but they don’t want to do that because that means leaving the thuggy street dealers alone
Obviously you are going to see far fewer marijuana-related arrests because of the elimination of possession charges for users. On the dealer side, I don’t think most of the folks involved in selling weed (regardless of color or ethnicity) are going to just move on to other ventures after their market is plucked by Big Marijuana. The thuggy street dealers are probably going to continue being thuggy street dealers in something other than weed.
*see above where i pointed out that it seemed like you were replying to one line of my comment rather than the whole thing.
When the demand for thuggy street dealt drugs is cut by 90% you don’t think there might just be less thuggy street dealers? Sure some may move on to other criminal activities, but the lure of easy money drops a bit when you got to engage in actual crime (mugging, robbery, burglary etc..) to earn it.
When the demand for thuggy street dealt drugs is cut by 90% you don’t think there might just be less thuggy street dealers?
I can tell you that if I’d been making a living dealing weed for cash off the books and my only other options in life involved a lot of hard work for 1/10th the wages, I’d probably find another criminal venture. The ratio of dealers to users is low enough that a substantial number of them could find jobs slinging other drugs or contraband or getting into other relatively petty crime.
I happen to know at least a couple of people who have been down that road. When you’re accustomed to a certain lifestyle, it’s hard to break out of it.
The dealers and law enforcement sure, the problem is the Users are unlikely to move on.
Hell with legalized weed a lot of people who use other drugs to get high are likely to stop using those drugs and go back to weed and alcohol because of the convienence and value.
Drug dealers and Cops cannot artificially increase the heroin and meth user base to keep the profits/arrest numbers up there has to actually be consumer demand for those harder drugs and fever dreams of law and order conservatives aside legal weed is not going to drive many if any into harder drug use.
the racial disparity in weed-related arrests/ prosecutions is not easily handwaved away as irrelevant.
i know you might do so because it sounds like something you’d hear from BLM activists, but its something many libertarians have been hip to for decades.
my only point in referencing the race issue is because its significant to the way ‘legalization’ is sold to the public. the example links i provided above (A vs. B) should make clear that there are literally 2 entirely different universes co-existing, yet no sense of cognitive dissonance at all.
the racial disparity in weed-related arrests/ prosecutions is not easily handwaved away as irrelevant.
it’s also probably not as cut and dried as “whitey hates darkie, wants him in jail”. Black people in the aggregate tend to live in neighborhoods with denser housing, that have more crime, that have more police presence, and are more likely to have police encounters as a result. God knows it’s heresy to suggest the possibility, but in the aggregate, black people might also actually commit a disproportionate amount of crime, rather than just getting disproportionately targeted for enforcement.
And at any rate, I don’t buy that racism is the motivation behind popular support for legalization as opposed to decriminalization, especially considering the demographic overlap between “white people who want pot legalized” and “white people are young, woke, self- flagellating, and liberal”. As I said above, I think you give whitey a lot more credit than is warranted for even being aware of the difference. I’m also not entirely clear on how legalization benefits whites to the detriment or exclusion of blacks. It’s a slower process and I, like you, oppose the regulatory hurdles involved, but when it comes to not getting hassled for simple possession anymore, users all benefit pretty equally.
that’s not exactly what i said, but at least your staw-men are getting closer
i still think you’re way too focused on a retarded parody of my position than trying to understand my point. it seems like this discussion has been mostly wasted time because you don’t seem like you’ve actually grokked me, and nothing you say seems the slightest bit compelling to me as far as changing my own POV.
as per my very first posts:
i think the reason the weed ‘debate’ (if that’s what we even want to call it) as it exists in america is entirely divorced from the material reality of its effects.
See: link A, where people sit around in town-hall meetings and there appears to be near-unanimity that legalization ‘makes sense’.
yet = link B, where people literally die in prisons for possession.
the world of link B is not even discussed in link A.
weed legalization is one of the most popular political topics with young lefties. its up there with “free college” and …[insert fuzzy notion of ‘regulating wall street’]
yet the way this political desire is pandered to is, for lack of a better way of putting it, completely “white shit”. Its sold to them as a new “right” or a benefit. You can get high now, kids! congratulations. and that’s the way the media likes to talk about it too. they do lifestyle stories about new weed candy or vaping trends.
they still don’t talk about the fact that tens of thousands of people are thrown in jail cells for possession all over the country every day.
the reason for this disparity between political rhetoric/media coverage vs. ‘reality’, is race.
If you don’t agree, fine. but you’ve provided no real substantive case for why i should think differently other than to express some indigence on behalf of greater-whitey.
If you don’t agree, fine. but you’ve provided no real substantive case for why i should think differently other than to express some indigence on behalf of greater-whitey.
Likewise, I find your appeal to race on this issue utterly devoid of substance. You’ve done nothing but assert without evidence that white people have focused on legalization to the exclusion of decriminalization without consideration for its effects on black people. My experience has been that you can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a reference to race when it comes to any popular discussion regarding marijuana laws and their enforcement, and that the sort of white people most strenuously in favor of marijuana legalization also tend to be more rather than less focused on race as an issue, so I think you’re wrong. Which was really the only thing I wished to express in the first place, not to lay out some grand apologetics that would persuade you to abandon your position. Dissuading someone convinced of racial animus is almost always an exercise in futility.
I do think a lot of marijuana legalization activists aren’t really concerned about the issue any further than it benefits themselves or has virtue-signaling utility, which is perhaps a component of the “white shit” framing of the issue that you reference. But I wouldn’t expect them to, and I don’t think that’s any different for just about any given issue. As importantly, I think an overwhelming of marijuana legalization (and decriminalization, for that matter) activists don’t care at all about the prohibition of any other variety of drugs or the knock-on effects thereof.
Great links, Brett!
From the Pistols link, this wonderful quote:
RIP, Sid. Icon and really shitty musician.
By definition, don’t you have to be a shitty musician to be a punk rocker?
Josh Freese says “Hell no!”
Ummm, no.
Descendents, Bad Brains, Suicidal Tendencies, DKs, Clash…
Lots of punks could play. Even my favorite pre-punks, the great MC5, were solid musicians.
MC5: Great band, loopy politics. There’s a good Iggy Pop documentary on Netflix where he talks a little bit about when the Stooges use to open for the MC5
Oh yeah, they were crazy-assed lefties. But so, so good.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpDmIv93Qvs
Favorite MC5 Song
I have a live recording of this song that begins with the singer yelling: “I hear a lot of talk from a lot of honkies telling me that they’re high society. Well, I’m going to tell you something, if you ask me- this is the high society, this is the high society”
I just laugh
Oh hell yes.
Nice choice, JS. You are on a roll today.
Like the DKs
Can’t agree enough with Bad Brains. Love Dr. Know’s style.
For you.
I’m not sure if any of those guys would exactly qualify as a virtuoso.
I can’t remember where it’s from, but I think this quote is pretty close to accurate:
I think “musician” is more appropriate.

The previous president shows why he was such a divisive character. Worst transition of power in American history. All is forgiven, John Adams!
Nothing is forgiven. His rotundity can rot in Hell.
Is that you Jefferson, you son of a bitch?
I wish. Thomas had way better penmanship than me.
John Adam’s greatest legacy: HBO Miniseries ‘John Adams’
Jesus assraping christ what an asshole. The next time someone claims Trump is a narcissist I am going to print this out on a block of lead and drop it on their fucking house.
tl;dr
Yeah, I couldn’t listen to that blowhard on TV. I’m sure not reading several paragraphs of his narcissistic bullshit.
This is my reaction to every exposure I get to the guy.
Pretty much.
I only read the first few lines but any former president that writes a fucking novella on facebook about ‘muh legucy!’ and ‘muh halthcare!’ needs his fucking hands cut off.
Fucking right.
He’s never going to go away, the Democrats are chained to him for life. When George Bush has more common sense than you it’s time to give up.
Muh legacy!!!!
Man am I pulling for the GOP to overturn Obamacare. Once that’s gone he’s got NA-TTING.
Him and that bull shit progressive legacy of his.
This remains my favourite moment of the Trump Presidency so far.
Just the disappointment and sadness oozing from him is fantastic.
Someone said that’s an actual photo of trump grabbing a p____.
Pretty much.
There is 0 chance at this point that they in any meaningful way overturn Obamacare. Sure they might pass a bill that “says” it overturns it but to date no one with any real power in the Republican Party has even proposed a replacement bill which does more than repeal it in name and then replace it with basically the exact same plan.
Too bad. That single act would make up for those awful eight years of babbling gibberish.
Yep. From what news I was listening to today as I roasted myself in the heat, the senate is pushing Obamacare light. For all practical purposes it changes nothing. Minor things. It is here to stay. Barack could keep his mouth shut and his legacy would be for the most part intact, but he is incapable of that. Plus, if the Dems can’t say “PEOPLE ARE GOING TO DIE” they don’t have nothing to say.
“That might take some time and compromise between Democrats and Republicans. But I believe that’s what people want to see. I believe it would demonstrate the kind of leadership that appeals to Americans across party lines. And I believe that it’s possible – if you are willing to make a difference again. If you’re willing to call your members of Congress. If you are willing to visit their offices. If you are willing to speak out, let them and the country know, in very real terms, what this means for you and your family.”
lol.
What a narcissistic remedial middling twerp this guy is.
Did you read the comments? Hilarious.
Has anyone told him to fuck right off yet? Cause I’ll buy anyone who does a beer.
I dont drink beer, but I did steal Rufus’ insult so buy him one.
Just ignore under aca the families who got hit with yuge premium and deductible increases!
This from the “Elections have consequences” shithead.
Didnt they have no gop votes for theirs?
They’re sickening.
See, if you don’t support ACA, you’re not even human. I really want to know how this guy isn’t paying more for his health insurance. Mine just about doubled.
Word.
I am having big regrets about replying on facebook to that one now. I might get a Bernie Bro hunting me.
The sheer level of cult-like worship of everything Obama says (and, by extension, His Awesomeness hisself) simply baffles me. These people aren’t low-info voters; they’re not even zero-info voters. It’s like actual information crashes up against their consciousness and is instantly annihilated like a matter-antimatter reaction. They’re actually black holes of info — nothing escapes, nor can it ever be observed again!
I see the same thing to a much lesser extent with His Royal Hairness (PBUH) here in Canada. People actually think it’s adorable that he hugs a doll of a unicorn?
Fuck me. The human race deserves only destruction, preferably as painfully and slowly as possible. Mebbe we can leave the planet to the cetaceans.
I like how trump saw that comey was leaking details of their convos and goaded him with tapes tweet into lying why he did leak convos
Comey claims he woke up 3 days later in middle of night and was concerned about trumps tweet and thought hey leaking convo may be corroborated with tapes
Problem was comey and trump 1/27 convo was in the nyt a before trumps tape tweet.
Also curious on may 3 grassley asked comey if he had ever been an anonymous source which is strange for fbi director
On feb 24 trump specifically fingered fbi for the ones leaking
I think comey was a more than a few time leaker and trump knew
A day before*
Here is may 12 trump tweet. If you search may 11 nyt you will find an article about trump and comey dinner. Just them two

You really want a spoiler? Gordon is awoken by one of the security guards playing Wet Willie in his ear hole with their dong. The game ends with the security guard saying ”Shave off the face pubes, they don’t make you look any more like a man.”

Adblock-blocked – I guess they don’t want my attention.
You weren’t exactly the target demo for this one anyway.
Yeah, I got a glimpse of the goods before the pop-up appeared.
So I go to Zillow to read about my house. The info is not all that correct. And that’s fine by me. Keeps the property taxes down. But here’s what’s weird, it says it has 1.2 baths. WTF is a 0.2 bath?
The .2 is the sink?
This was covered in the film called I Love You Man.
It’s a sink in the man cave for, well, um, watch the movie.
Try this.
Thanks. I don’t want to change it. They’re going off of the info from when it was built in 1925.
Toilet in the living room?
Each 0.1 is for additional half-baths. I’m assuming you have (or had) 1 full and 2 half baths.
You have an outhouse?
Amazon update: I went through my browsing history and obliterated all references to the feminist crafting book. Today they send me two recommendations for adult coloring books.
They tell me this is based on my recent browsing through the Humor category. I don’t know if the creators of these books would consider them humorous, but apparently Amazon has figured out my opinion.
That said, I went through my browsing history and there is still no trace of those feminist books anywhere. So now I’m going through “recommended for you” clicking “show me less like this, show me less like this” all day. Hopefully they’ll get the message and this isn’t Bezos trying to awoken me, horrible unfeminist female that I am.
Call them and give them shit.
“They tell me this is based on my recent browsing through the Humor category.”
Why would even Amazon associate feminism with (intentional) humor.
Now, “bad girls throughout history,” with Joan of Arc and Josephine Baker, seems like a nice coloring book…if you’re a really young girl, which I hope you aren’t given the stuff that regularly gets posted here.
What they don’t want to tell you is that the recommendations are basically random and their matching algorithms suck.
I am approaching book number 200 since I got my Kindle. I have bought 2 based on Amazon’s recommendations. Their suggestions suck.
They keep pushing fiction on me. I couldn’t tell you the last time I bought a fiction book.
When you bought [insert name of celebrity]’s memoir?
I did buy Confessions of a Prairie Bitch, but hopefully that’s not fiction! (haven’t read it yet)
If I read more celebrity memoirs that would be on my list…but since I didn’t see the series, just read the books, I don’t know if I’d relate to it.
I haven’t read the books – was there even a Nellie Olsen in them? If there was, I’m pretty sure the TV version is somewhat of a caricature. But the character was awesome…totally scenery-chewer.
Yes, the books had a Nellie Olsen – it’s been a while so I don’t remember *every* detail – I most vividly remember The Long Winter where they almost froze or starved, and there was an evil banker named Ruth (his last name) – I wonder if they ever wrote their own accounts of these events?
It seems that banker Ruth’s house is now a bed and breakfast.
Wow, checking Thomas Ruth’s name leads to wheels within wheels. Wake up, sheeple!
After I looked up Milo’s “Dangerous” I got Elizabeth Warren’s tome recommended to me. I LOL’d.
Another day, another psycho prog shifts blame. Johnny Eric Williams is able to dish it out and now takes a page out of the Kathy Griffin book and claims to be a victim.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4629820/Outrage-professor-s-rebuke-self-identified-whites.html
They’re shameless and they’re illiberal mental cases.
At least own it you asshole.
Christ, what an asshole.
“By ‘self-identified “whites”‘ he appeared to mean people who make a point of identifying themselves as white, not all white people.”
If I check the “white” box on some form, am I self-identified white?
The fun part of being so full of incoherent rage is that they can always say you’ve been misunderstood, and since it’s incoherent, they may be right. Who knows what specific position they were articulating other than “I’m a racist asshole who fantasizes about people I don’t like suffering violent deaths.”
always say *they’ve* been misunderstood
I guess he prefer that whites, alone among all people on Earth, should not have any racial identity whatsoever because it’s immoral in and of itself. Not an uncommon position to hold really.
That depends on what one means by identity, but like I said, the point is he’s proud of his angry violent racist fantasies against some ill-defined group of white people.
…thus I don’t wish to be bogged down into the details of his specific definition of the people he’s violently racist against.
By definition, it’s impossible for him to be racist, so any violent fantasies he has about random white people being murdered are just dandy.
… somehow a white democrat shooting white republicans has something to do with “White Supremacy” now?
Did this get posted yet? Because, if not, here is Zoolamder hugging a unicorn puppet
Great link. Really great stuff. The best.
While fucking the link?
Is this the link?
Every time that dude takes a shit the “internet goes crazy”. It’s getting really tedious, internet.
Oh, heavenly heads and cranial creator, forgive Chipwooder’s transgressions against links and community.
I go to the box and I feel shame.
No mention from the fawning MSM about what Justin was doing with his other hand to that puppet. Conspiracy? I think not!
None of this is new info to anyone here, but if you ever need a link to debunk the “Right-Wing Extremists Are Into Killin’ More than Muslims” rhetoric, Areo Magazine has you covered.
In general Areo has been on fire lately, with articles about how Identity Politics make sucky arguments, cultural appropriation being stupid, Open borders, etc.
BUT MAH NYT SAY NUH UH
glad to see Areo is getting clicks and readers. i think people here picked it over a few months ago, and it was clear that they’re still ‘left of center’, but they seem to be an emergent part of the left that still thinks “Liberal” means the same thing classical liberals do.
i notice they have a piece on their front page about “open borders” too.
Yeah, a lot of the anti-SJW, anti-feminist, anti-Islamist YouTubers identify as liberal.
Bookmarked and thanks…looks like an interesting site.
Holy shit, that’s a paragraph I didn’t expect to see!
I love the “since 9/11” tweets.
How about since 9/10?
Yeah, you have to put the cutoff somewhere, but they’re so transparent about it.
I read that at first as “Areola Magazine” and then felt confusion, shame and then rage at misspelling.
In regards to the Irish immigration thing, wherever you land on that, whatever . . . the important thing to notice is that Trump doesn’t have much to lose by stepping on people’s toes in Massachusetts.
It’s the same thing with recreational marijuana in Washington State, California, Oregon, and Massachusetts.
Creating a one party state in places like California or Massachusetts has all sorts of disadvantages–the whole divided government thing breaks down. In addition to that, when one of your own isn’t in the White House, there’s very little incentive not to shit all over you.
Preventing hard working Irish people from coming to America isn’t my idea of an excellent immigration policy, but making limousine liberals all over Massachusetts scream and cry probably isn’t about to lose Trump any votes in Ohio or western Pennsylvania.
From just a strategic standpoint, why should Trump fear stepping on the toes of limousine liberals in Massachusetts? What are they gonna do–call him a racist?
He’s been called worse by progressives, and when they do that, it seems to energize his base.
Well, they may write large checks to support Dem candidates in places like Georgia….
Someone may have already posted this. But as has already been said many times, some of us have to work. But this is awesome.
Dissolve Illinois
And my proggy Facebook friends keep harping on Kansas while this goes on. Kansas isn’t nearly the shit show Illinois is. Connecticut soon to follow.
Follow up on the story about the Williams College professor who used #LetThemFuckingDie about the congressional shooting. AAUP just sent out an e-mail complaining about the death threats the professor received. Now, IF he received death threats, that’s unacceptable but, with its regular complete lack of self-awareness, part of the e-mail read:
“When one disagrees with statements made by others, threats of violence are not the appropriate response. Such threatening messages are likely to stifle free expression and cause faculty and others on campus to self-censor so as to avoid being subjected to similar treatment. Targeted online harassment is a threat to academic freedom.”
It’s nice that they know how to use words, even if they have no idea what they mean.
Wasn’t *he* the one saying, “#let them die”?
is what they’re saying, “college professors can say crazy controversial shit, but if normal proles do it, it should be a crime”
Yep, the cognitive dissonance is awesome to behold. I e-mailed them congratulating them for only reporting half the story (they didn’t mention the content of his social media posts) and for not condemning threats against campus speakers. If I get a reply, I’ll be interested to see of the think I was being serious.
That wasn’t really a death threat but it is a confirmation that the guy’s a fucking asshole who shouldn’t be teaching.
“Aw lookit! They think they’re people, too!” (says every prog whenever this tomfoolery gets published and the outrage mounts)…
The AAUP was founded in response to Stanford firing a sociology professor who gave a public speech advocating the genocide of all Chinese and Japanese immigrants.
This is par for the course.
If you’re a Parks & Rec fan, this may tickle you. It kinda made my day.
I’m confused: “low-cal calzone”
What kind of Lovecraftian abomination is a low-cal calzone?
That’s the joke
Well, let me know if they invent a low-cal one that tastes even remotely like a regular calzone – that would be awesome.
Now we’re ordering calzones for dinner. Enablers!
“I don’t see any black SUV’s pulling up my driveway and definitely no black helicopter…
Daring the Secret Service to arrest him? Sounds like a smart move. /sarc
Considering we just had a guy from Illinois attempt to fill his bag limit on republican politicians you really can’t blame them for taking this one seriously.
Headline: “Mom undergoes plastic surgery to look like first lady Melania Trump”
Errrrmmm…I think Melania Trump undergoes plastic surgery to look like first lady Melania Trump.
SICK BURN!
She was admittedly “Pantheresque” in her 1980’s hey-day. Still would.
You can’t afford her, methinks.
I was thinking today, if the Stupid Party wanted to be uncharacteristically not stupid, they’d gin up a trans-whatever intersectional SJW controversy every 5 minutes. Introduce bills, constantly talk about it, frame every issue in terms of it. It’s the closest thing to a slam dunk issue that either party has had since Ho Chi Minh City was still called Saigon.
I’m confused. Which one is the stupid party?
i want to die
I can’t even.
What a jackass. I hate the fact that whenever someone criticize a woman or a “Person of Color,” it’s not because they have a legitimate disagreement with the person but because they are racist/homophobe/sexist.
That’s pretty much the Democrat Party’s strategy: run a lot of women and minorities so that you can cudgel your opponents with accusations of discrimination. The problem is this tactic is getting worn out, as we saw in the last election when droves of people voted for Trump despite the “progressive” media pulling out all the stops to portray him as LITERALLY HITLER. People just don’t give a shit anymore.
