  • Wednesday Afternoon Links

Happy Wednesday that feels like it should be Friday. There’s a CSI van parked across the street. I’m expecting David Mancuso and the hottest female cop to ever wear a badge and a silk blouse to stop by any moment. Oh look, Firstros win again.

All right you primative screwheads, listen up.
    This… is my BOOMSTICK!
    • BP CEO writes that global energy demand remains strong and growing, but abundant supplies of oil and gas are now a fact of life. No word on how many barrels they plan to lose unproductively to poorly-capped wells or plant explosions this year. The joke about working for BP’s plant in Houston was that the money was okay, but the survivor benefits were what really mattered.
    • Chelsea Manning is a free citizen. Just remember when you read all those anonymous leakers who claim to be in and around the Oval Office that actual brave government employees who leak actual secrets get thrown in prison or exiled.
    • Greeks demand an end to austerity. So nice of the birthplace of democracy to demonstrate its terminal state as well
    • The Washington Post — uses Infowars as a cited source and has the balls to lecture anyone about Fake News.
    • More enlightened European racism. Britain obviously has a dearth of Grievance Study majors and lazy artists
    • Hoarders aren’t spending their retirement money like economists want them to. I think we all know the solution, tovarisch.
    • Which one of you is this?

Its been a while since the anthem was run.

  • Tuesday Afternoon Links

Its another edition of the Tuesday Afternoon Links.

    • “Stay the fuck out of [Miami], [Vásquez Orellana]!” (Former Chavista minister gets hounded out of Venezuelan bakery.) [ED: Link Fixed. Sorry!}
    • “Men’s” fashion alert — rompers for men are never okay once you can dress yourself. (They know it, too. This guy, chose wisely in not wearing his romper to a Cubs game)
    • Slate says you should believe anonymous sources over an official going on record because — I shit you not –“The Post’s sources have made factual allegations that can be checked. The administration hasn’t.” My days of not taking Slate seriously is coming to a middle.
    • And for the serious news — King of Thailand, normal guy. Well, I mean, he’d fit right in in Florida. But apparently his government is unhappy about this display.
    • Its weird, somehow this cop OD’d on something (just by touching it!) that lots of other people encountered without PPE. I’m not saying its not true, but it seems a little breathless.
    • Also, it looks like the US is looking at ditching 5.56 chambered rifles for the 20th time in 10 years. Although a 6.5mm seems like a decent trade off between weight on your back and energy to the target when fired.

  • Monday Afternoon Links

Happy Monday, commentariat. I hope everyone sufficiently pleased the matronly persons in their lives yesterday. My wife did all her own shopping, so I’m pretty sure I hit it out of the park this year. Speaking of hitting it out of the park, how about that 2nd game at Yankee Stadium yesterday? Listen, its the Astros, you gotta celebrate in May or June, because there’s nothing good about September or October.

    • Pvt. Manning will remain on active duty, but not be paid, while awaiting the result of appeal. (Here’s another BH link, which I don’t believe a word of, I just want to pat the poor helpless little Antifa losers in the picture on the head, and encourage them to find a clue)
    • Get away from her you , bi… What do you mean this exoskeleton isn’t xenomorph queen rated? What about Walmart Black Friday woman? No?
    • Russia warns against intimidating N. Korea. As if Russia is going to be in favor of anything that encourages Sino-US cooperation. They would warn against a joint US-Chinese mission to alter the course of SMOD.
    • Sad little assholes, part II. All those torches, and not a single hood or cross. Even the white supremacists are losers these days.
    • Anyone else think this revision of the Dinosaur Killer Asteroid’s nuclear winter to a lucky strike will fail to change a single mind about nuclear power? Or did we stop pretending fallout was a problem several decades ago? (Remember: More people died at Chappaquidick than Three Mile Island!)

And since I’m ending on down note, here’s a little bummer song that’s nonetheless fun.

  • Wednesday Afternoon Links

Happy Wednesday. Conspiracy theories and lost millions here today. I’m not saying James Harden shat the bed last night, but he definitely made a mess of the end game — twice.

    • I’m not always thankful for the TSA, but given the level of violence on planes recently, maybe folding knives are better not flying in people’s pockets. (TW: Autoplay)
    • I’m no conspiracy theorist, but Trump meets with the highest-level Russians of his presidency the day AFTER he fires COMEY?!! My favorite part is that the Russians were completely surprised by the news.
    • Jeebus, the WaPo is reporting on Nebraska local politics? And a narrow Dem loss? Its participation trophy journalism. Cheer up Dems, the Stupid Party will live up to its name and you’ll make some ground back eventually.
    • I like the cut of this guy’s jib.
    • Better to have “lost” $650M than to have never made it at all, amirite?

    Have a little AC/DC.

  • Monday Afternoon Links

Its been a productive Monday so far. Have an extra link and some extra music.

    • There’s an Ice Age acomin’! Just far enough out that NOW! is when we need to fund the research. I’m sorry, do I sound cynical? TW: autoplay

      London Freezing!
    • Dear FBI, I’ll do it for $875K next time. They paid $900,000 to unlock the San Bernadino shooter’s iPhone
    • Trump continues to overperform my expectations in court nominees.
    • Trump: I’m not sticking my neck in that noose. Are we even doing phrasing anymore?
    • Your bullshit scare-study of the day.
    • Let’s you and him fight.
    • This Florida Girl is tougher than you.

In response to a discussion in the AM Links, I give you three tracks off of three consecutive albums, and I could have picked at least one other song off of each album in place of these, but I just decided to stick to the funky lines. One, two, three.

  • Thursday Morning Links

Sloopy couldn’t make it in this morning, so I will be defiling his links page in his absence.

    • First up, SPORTS update, my local team served batting practice for the Marlins. Wow, that Ozuma ball got out of there in a hurry. In much better news, the Firstros continue to embarrass the hated Rangers. Nothing will be said of the NBA. NOTHING! Also, apparently the Orioles and BoSox are having some sort of rivalry. Earl Weaver thinks the current O’s manager is a pansy.
    • God save the Queen! Because we don’t want Charles.
    • Athletic endurance in a pill? Yes please. I will be doping and winning the local Turkey Trot. Even if they disqualify me. They can keep the medal, I’ll keep the pictures (proof!)
    • I am betting on Republicans crapping the bed in today’s healthcare debate. These guys could fuck up the procession at a single car funeral.
    • A great article about a bunch of spy organizations and their trainees (all grown men — yes it matters — you’ll see) getting taken by a con artist. It will surprise no one here, that the con has Florida ties. My doubt at the CIA’s ability is certainly coming to a middle.

      Not that Mark Levin
    • Today, the Puerto Rican independence movement gained steam in the continental US.

I think the musical choice took care of itself.

  • Tuesday Afternoon Links

I’m on my way to the dentist after this, so hopefully these won’t be quite as bad as having dental implements jammed in your mouth.

    This will not be me
    • The Stupid party is on its way to unreservedly fucking up their first and second priorities. The second being a great example of Trump stumbling into being less wrong than the Legislative branch for horrible (to libertarians) reasons.
    • GE fixes flaw in power grid software that could allow any script kiddie to shut down sections of a grid. Safe software is kind of like safe cryptography, if the good (and not explicitly bad) guys aren’t allowed to mess with it, only bad guys will know how to break it.
    • Fuck you, tiger! I’m an owl!
    • Connecticut governor waves white flag, admits that taxing the rich doesn’t work.

      What I expect to happen

    A little related music.

Late breaking from SugarFree: Oh, man… this is such a delicious stew of delusion, projection, self-lies, hate-fucking and eating your young that I can barely read it. Comments so rich and yummy. Oh, my. Oh, my.

Alright. Having cleared my house of an in-law infestation, I can proceed to loaf and link. (Kidding, I love my in-laws and they even painted a couple of rooms in the new house for us! Thanks, guys.)

First, we’d like to thank each and every one of you, but especially the Canadians, for putting us into the top million most visited sites in the world. Canadians, please don’t forget us when you get more than five hours of sunlight per day. Our internal theory is that 80% of the “American” commenters are either lying about not being Canadian or socks. IFH, Raven Nation, we need those antipodean number up, up,up!

I’m not saying If-hes-for-it-I’m-agin-it works every time, but if Ben Bernanke is for the Border Adjustment Tax, I’ll assume until proven otherwise that this is one of those things that economists love to model that don’t really work like the model.

If only California had passed a law against consuming alcohol and firing guns, people would be alive today, right?

Kurt Schlichter is taking up the happy warrior type posts that I associated with Mark Steyn about 15 years ago. He’s kickin’ hippies asses and raising hell and seems to be enjoying it.

Catholic as church on Sunday. Christian as nailing theses to a church door.

If this is “seductive” in the Malaysian chess world, I vote we send some of HM’s thicc models to the tournament to cause heart attacks. Of course, its probably the 12-year old part that those perverts find seductive.

It looks like the fascist “anti-fascists” have a pretty good toe-hold in Paris as well. File under: Why Brett sees downside to political street-fighting.

If any of our super-smart glibertopian commenters have time and knowledge to write about this, I think the completely unintentional destruction of the petro-state by American fracking* is going to be a big deal.

Only we can line our pockets at the young workers’ expense, tovarich.

*soon to be followed by China, although they seem to be having trouble replicating the success of people driven by risking their own money

Have a little BB King and some blues.

  • Tuesday Afternoon Links

I already knew this because apparently, I only buy at the top of the market. Fair warning, expect a crash within two years. (TW: autoplay)

Get ready for an even bigger Warty. Pro-tip: them who pick up heavy things more often will be stronger.

America’s Hat is on the wrong side of The Hat and The Hair. And they WILL pay.

Vigilante justice in the IoT. It appears someone is trying to deny easily hacked IoT processors and radios to botnets by permanently bricking them. Destroying key functionality of someone else’s property is not cool from this libertarian’s perspective. Giving people shitty things that are easily hacked, also not cool.

  • Monday Afternoon Links

    Happy Monday. Have some links.

I like this gossipy story just for this line: “One memory: Arianna Huffington explaining to me that, essentially, no one who wrote for the Huffington Post was paid; they depended on that. ‘Paying for writing is not our model,’ she said.”

This is going to upset the narrative. Another self-hating gay self-identifies as “conservative libertarian”, which being German, I assume means something we wouldn’t recognize as such.

I was initially conflicted about this. Then I read that the statues explicitly celebrated “white supremacy in the South” on the plaque, then I read that said plaque was removed in 1989 and a more broad dedication about learning lessons replaced it. Now I just see a bunch of scaremongers who wore masks and trained guns on anyone who wasn’t wearing a reflective vest while going about city business.

    I prefer macrodosing myself.

    Socialist Bro looks pissed.
    Capitalism!
